  1. Interesting Teen Vogue interview with creator and showrunner Chris Van Dusen (warning: some of the photos in the linked interview are spoilery):

    Quote

TV: Now, where did “Kathani” come from?

CVD: It was obviously a nod to Kate, Katherine, in the books. But we fell in love with that name and what the literal translation means. Dr. Atwal was really helpful in coming up with how the Sharma family's lives looked back in India. In our story, Kate and Edwina’s father worked as a respected secretary for a royal court back in Bombay. And so Kate and Edwina grew up in this courtly environment amongst royals who, in our minds, were a bit more progressive. We actually used a figure named Baiza Bai as our model. She was a ruler at the time, she was this queen who was this adept horse rider, she sat astride like the men did, never side saddle, she was this masterful swordswoman and also someone who could handle a firearm. We thought about what a figure like that would mean to a young girl growing up alongside her and with the help of Dr. Atwal, we started to build Kate Sharma’s backstory from there, as a way to understand her affinity for horse riding or the fact that she can shoot just as well as Anthony when she comes to London. All of that was really instrumental in the early stages of building the character that we eventually come to meet as Kate Sharma, Kathani Sharma.

    Quote

TV: Given the buildup and the incredible chemistry between Simone and Jonny — I know there have been some fans requesting or asking if there are any deleted scenes that would ever be released?

CVD: So, I see this campaign to “release the cut/deleted scenes.” I can be completely honest with you, as far as the intimate scenes, the sex scenes — no intimate or sex scenes were cut from this show. This season, every intimate scene that was scripted made it into the final edit of the show. And you can watch those scenes across the eight episodes of the season. It's always a balance. Like I said before, the editing room is the final rewrite of the show. And what works on the page sometimes needs adjusting and sometimes needs a little reworking. But yeah, there are no big “Bridgerton cuts.”

    Quote

TV: You said there are no major scenes [cut] or anything. So these little things that are circulating from cast interviews, etc, are they just very small parts that got cut out in the editing room, and that’s all it is?

CVD: Yeah. Any scenes, there are definitely tweaks, whether certain lines, certain words had to be cut for time or just from a storytelling perspective…We wanted to tell the clearest story that we could. And so that's where some of those decisions come from.

🤔 Hmm...I don't believe you, Chris! (For example, the scene talked about above, where Kate is dreaming about Anthony removing his clothes...)

  2. “Colonel Lennox is a good man.” LOL, Alison, no. Just no.

Alison is so much better away from Captain Stolen Valor. That guys sucks, and I am happy she ripped into him. And I’m glad that she is noticing what a good guy Fraser is.

My gosh, Esther’s aunt is a nasty piece of work! She can be funny at times, but generally, what a miserable old witch. How did nobody at the party, including the doctor, realize what was up with Esther?!

I always find it funny that at the balls, everyone seems to know all of the dance steps. Like, how?

I want to believe that the artist isn’t up to something, but I keep getting this uneasy feeling. Feels like he might be after Georgiana’s money.

Poor Leo! Wish she could have been protected from that secret.

  3. Hallmark Movies & Mysteries will premiere a movie later this year centered on a lead character with Down syndrome. The cast includes Lily D. Moore (from Never Have I Ever), David DeSanctis, Erica Durance, and Benjamin Ayres.

    Quote

Color My World With Love, which recently wrapped production, follows Kendall (Never Have I Ever's Lily D. Moore), a talented artist with Down syndrome who creates beautiful paintings in the impressionist style that reflect the reality of her subjects as she sees them. Thanks to the support of her mother, Emma (Erica Durance), and grandmother, Bev (Karen Kruper), Kendall is happy and thriving. Her life takes a turn when she meets Brad (David DeSanctis) in a cooking class at the local center for diverse learners and romance blossoms.

  4. Some more ratings news from Deadline:

After just 17 days on Netflix, Season 2 of Bridgerton cracked the streamer’s Top 10 of most watched English-language TV seasons in their first 28 days of release, jumping straight to No. 3 with 560.5 million hours viewed. Of them, 115.75M hours were consumed this past week (April 4-10) for a third consecutive No. 1 weekly finish on the streamer.

The Regency drama, which in its first full week of release set a record for the most viewed title in a week on the English TV list (251.74M hours), is on track to top the all-time list for English-language series by the end of the 28-day post-premiere window, edging Season 1 of Bridgerton, which is currently No. 1 with 625.5M hours. Shondaland is assured to have three of the Top 3 entries with the two seasons of Bridgerton and Inventing Anna at No. 5 — at least until Stranger Things returns.

  5. I can't be too mad at Anthony because LOL, he's my fave and I do love him but also... the dumb dumb knew he fucked up with the proposal and tried to find a way out of it. He though that disastrous dinner with the Sheffields was the ticket, and that Violet and Lady Danbury could come up with some sort of "plan" that would spare any blowback on Edwina, but Kate's like "Nope!" So then he's like "Fine, I'll go talk to Edwina, and I'll call it off, even though I am a gentleman and gentlemen don't go back on their word." And Kate's all "No!!! Edwina loves you, you can't do this to her ANTHONY." Like why'd you have to do that Kate...it was the only reason he relented!

Maybe I'm a dummy but I'm not understanding how the Army situation is unfolding.  Is Col. Lennox completely in charge of deciding where a barracks should be? Don't these things have to be approved by someone way higher up?

And why is it looking like Col. Lennox has something (or everything) to do with the unpaid bill situation? I am also confused because I would think that the Army should be paying for the mess dinner, etc. (Like, shouldn't his company have to ask for permission and receive approval by someone to use Army funds for throwing a dinner, buying supplies, etc.?)  Am I supposed to think that Col. Lennox is supposed to be paying for this stuff, but he's actually stealing the money or something? Well, that is exactly what I think...but how??

I'm doing it on my phone. First click the GIF to enlarge it, then hold your finger on the GIF for a few seconds. There should appear a pop up of sorts with different options, one of them being 'open image in new tab'. Click that and copy the link of that tab and paste it into your message here.

Thank you!! My phone is making me do this in a convoluted sort of way (open in Tumblr app, click on GIF I want, hold finger on GIF and open in Safari browser (no option given at this point to open in a new tab), THEN when the Tumblr page opens in Safari, hold finger again on said GIF, where I am given the option of opening in a new tab, and copy and paste the link). But it worked! So thank you for taking the time to explain, I appreciate it!

Just paste the image link into your post. The forum does the rest.

Sorry, another question. I was able to successfully test-post a Tumblr gif this morning on my desktop. But are you all doing this from your phones? I'm not able to figure out how to copy and paste the correct link using the Tumblr app on my phone (the link it copies does not embed the gif, or whatever). Thanks so much for the help!

  9. “We’re as close as Cain and Abel.” Bwah ha ha, I love Esther.

Oh man, I wish Babbington would show up and beat the shit out of Edward. But since I know that’s not happening, I will settle for him (Edward) dying under horrible circumstances.

At least Alison finally got a clue about Carter. I wasn’t looking forward to that dragging on the entire season! Don’t know why she’s mad at Fraser, though. He did try to subtly warn her, and if he came out and just told her the truth, she would have disregarded him same as she did Charlotte.

I’m really missing Stringer and Babbington right about now. I’m finding this new season generally boring, and I still can’t believe they got a third season as well.

  10. Also regarding Lady Mary being kinda oblivious, did they ever address why Kate’s family believes she will be perfectly content as a spinster? I guess maybe Kate just kept reassuring them that it was what she wanted, but meanwhile she’s telling Eloise that no, it’s not really an “ideal” situation, and “there’s really no place for you except the edges of society.” Kate and Lady Mary even had a brief conversation about it this episode where Kate is told “Edwina is to wed her heart’s desire and you have always wanted nothing more that your freedom.” But the look on Kate’s face seems a bit sad and hurt that her mother would think that. Like, Lady Mary never thought that maybe Kate really did want to marry but felt she could not, for multiple reasons? (For example, she felt a duty to care for her family, and did not want to abandon them to marry, and she could not provide a dowry even if she found someone whom she actually wanted to marry).

As sweet as Edwina was she would’ve been eaten alive in the Bridgerton household with all those strong personalities and rambunctiousness. Not to mention being overwhelmed suddenly having the duties of running a household being that she’d been shielded from that her whole life. She would’ve likely had help from Mary and Violet but it would’ve still been intimidating for her I think.

I agree…Edwina couldn’t even hack Pall Mall. And that was just a game! Plus, I do not know how she would have coped when she learned that “even-tempered” Anthony was anything but, LOL. She would have been very unhappy overall, I think.

  11. I just discovered the other day that Netflix is doing is doing a film version of Austin’s Persuasion. Did anyone else see that (the story was like a year old, LOL)? I don’t know…there is some highly questionable casting in this movie. The main guy from Rich Crazy Asians has been cast in it (which, A+), but not as the lead! The actress from the 50 Shades movies is playing Anne here, and you can Google the guy playing  Captain Wentworth, Cosmo Jarvis. Yikes, I’m not sure, but this has the potential to be very bad!

  12. Glamour interview with Lizzy Talbot, the intimacy coordinator on Bridgerton. (Contains spoilery info if you haven't watched the entire season yet). A few bits I enjoyed:

    Quote

Were there any scenes or moments you choreographed that didn’t make the cut this season?

Yeah, there's always quite a few. It was the same in season one. There were loads of scenes that didn't make it. We always do more than we need to so there are many options in the edit. I think that that's a really important thing. I know people have been frustrated that there haven't been more [sex scenes], but part of it is that we want to give our absolute best. There are loads of scenes that don't make the final edit—that's just the world of film. What we are really confident in is that the sex scenes that are in, we're really proud of.

What are you making of all the thirst around Anthony this season? Last year his character was more of a cad and now he's a romantic lead. How did you play up that sex appeal?

I always thought he was bringing it pretty hard in season one, actually. I loved the relationship between him and Siena. I thought they had a real playfulness that was really beautiful. It was a relationship that could never be, but it was still quite steamy to watch. So it's not super hard to make the transition. I think the removal of the sideburns went a long way for a lot of people. [Laughs.]

He's just got such wonderful depth as an actor. He can take you from heartbreak to hilarity in moments. I think really what we're seeing in this season is his breadth of talent. That's going to be incredibly attractive to an audience because you get to see so much range from one person.

  13. Who would have been handling all of Anthony's bookkeeping duties while he was away with Kate for six months traveling on their honeymoon? Does the book ever mention that? I am not sure it matters, LOL, but yes, I have been thinking about it. Would it have been Benedict? 😬 (Cue storyline next season where all of the finances are in disarray, yikes).

  14. The best part of this episode was Erika insisting on sending the signed letter to CMS, that agency investigating the complaint, and then CMS actually shutting down Theranos' labs for two years. Bwah ha ha ha! I love that Carreyrou just wanted to immediately call Erika and let her know that this was happening because of her and she had saved people's lives. Lovely. I must buy his book soon!

OMG, Linda's reaction to that terrible, cringey interview. "That was good!" I mean, I don't know. Personally, I think it could have used like three more "devastatings." The worst part is that even though I have never seen that interview, I know if I go searching for it, that will be exactly how it played out. Yikes!

I am glad that Tyler had the support of at least some of his family (enough so that is caused a rift). Grandpa Schultz kinda sucked. He didn't even apologize, and he seemed mostly concerned with the entire scandal besmirching the Schultz name. I mean, did it not register that people were getting wildly inaccurate blood test results, thinking (according to the screen at the end of the episode) that they were HIV positive, had cancer, miscarried, etc.? How freaking awful.

It's hard to believe that there's a man out there that would spend five minutes Googling Elizabeth Holmes' name and think, "Yes, this woman is girlfriend/mother material!😍" People are freaking nuts!

  15. Charlotte the horse whisperer 😆

Wish I could have made out what that note said that Edward stole. Ugh, I hate that Esther is stuck in this crappy storyline when she should be off happily enjoying her life with her new husband.

I wish the scene of Fraser and Alison in the rain had been longer. I like him and want to get to know him better. I can’t believe that he was out there picking flowers for Col. Lennox to give to Charlotte (and that the sister said nothing of it to her when those flowers arrived at the house).

Speaking of Col. Lennox, that guy seems like a snake…don’t trust him at all. I don’t buy what he’s selling regarding Colbourne and I find myself wondering if he possibly has something to do with all of the unpaid bills (LOL, I don’t even know if that’s possible, but he’s hella shady).

I hope that the artist is a good guy. Some of his scenes seem so ominous (like the one at the end there). I thought the camera was going to pan out and reveal that he was painting a picture of Arthur or something, but then nothing happened! And then he asked Georgiana if she was alone, but nothing came of that, either. It’s confusing me!

  16. I could be wrong, but I went back and rewatched the gazebo scene (on my tiny phone screen), and it looks to me like Anthony’s pants are on the bench behind him. And I wasn’t able to catch a glimpse of them under the blanket, so I’m not sure how that photo exists 😆 Must have come from BTS while filming or something.

Also, I don’t know if Netflix does this, but I would love to see all of the Kate/Anthony deleted footage please and thank you.

  17. I want to enjoy a completely blissful Anthony next season - it would be wonderful to see him more relaxed, less burdened by his "duties," and more playful with his siblings. With regards to Kate, she can vex him daily and sex him nightly, ha (I don't get the impression he's going to stop lusting after her anytime soon). I'm envisioning more intense versions of what his desire for Kate did to Anthony this entire season, but with actual follow through! Miss me with the ladder and stair sex, please. And a baby announcement at some point might be welcome. Just no drama, please. They deserve their happily ever after.

  18. Some more random thoughts I had:

Anthony and Benedict wear their clothes so well. Like damn, they look good.

The Benedict actor and Eloise actress must just have nice, natural, real-life chemistry that the show likes to take advantage of. They have some really cute moments together (there is a small scene in episode five where he teases her about her newfound interest in flower arranging, and they are also paired together in episode seven for parts of the family dance---you can see Benedict shake his head as Eloise curtsies him, and there are a few parts where they are spinning around together). Swear to god, if they were not siblings, I would ship it.

The Benedict actor and Anthony actor also seem to have real-life chemistry, and their scenes are always wonderful and interesting. Their interactions at Benedict's art "party" in epsiode seven (Anthony calling the party "something" and asking Benedict if he was "back to taking the tea") had me snort-laughing.

All the almost-kisses between Anthony and Kate, and they share their first actual kiss on that cursed wedding alter where Anthony was about to marry her sister?! Evil.

Ha, fireworks were set off as Anthony's engagement to Edwina ended (explosions began as she was running from the alter) and then we see the fireworks again right before Kate accepts his proposal in the garden.

  19. From Variety (Warning - the picture that Variety has used in their article is spoilery if you haven't seen the entire season yet):

“Bridgerton” Season 2 was viewed for 193 million hours over its debut weekend, per Netflix’s newly released Top 10 rankings for the week of March 21-27. That impressive three-day viewership is a record-breaker, as “Bridgerton” Season 2 is now the most-watched Netflix English-language TV title in its premiere weekend in the streamer’s history.

  20. Wow, that was interesting to hear Jonathan Bailey’s actual voice. I had assumed he sounded just like Anthony, but no 😆

Well, I hope Kate and Anthony returning next season is a sure thing and they’re both locked into contracts.

Season 1 Colin and Penelope had potential, but season 2 left me mostly uninterested. He’s boring and a major downgrade after the sexiness of Simon and Anthony. And I’m kinda over the Lady Whistledown drama (and don’t look forward to Colin finding that out). I would have liked to watch Benedict’s story next, and then Eloise’s :(

  21. How bee sting scene would be executed did have me wondering - I thought it was cringey embarrassing in the book, and the video snippet of that scene released ahead of time (which showed part of Anthony's reaction) seemed a bit much. But I was happily surprised. They had loads of chemistry, and Kate placing Anthony's hands over their hearts while he's gasping for air and inching closer to a kiss? Soo sexy!
