I liked this challenge a lot. I like the idea of giving them more latitude with what to make. "Make a carrot dessert" is more creative, and a better challenge than "make cheesecake and here is your assigned flavor"

that said, I wouldn't be a fan of any carrot desserts.

It really made for a creative variety of desserts.

I love carrots and the whole time I wanted carrot cake.

I agree that it was Kate's night to go but would have preferred to see Robert exit the kitchen. He just doesn't resonate with me.

Odd isn't it - last week they were both on top, this week they were both on the bottom.

I think that speaks for how good everyone is. One small mistake or a bad night and  you are bottom two.

No. Which is why I don't understand the point of them. We've never had one pupil midwife before much less four of them. So if only two of them are ever going to get to talk, why have the other two?

Last week I commented that the two non-speakers were different than the ones we started out with this season but I was mistaken. Which goes to show how little we see of them and how superfluous they are.

I agree, just what is their point? Do we even know their names?

That's the best I think I have ever seen Nancy look.  She should wear cute hats more often!

Kate was absolutely the right person to send home.  All she did was take pre-packaged lady fingers, crumble them up, dye them green and toast them?  I'm shocked she didn't think she needed a baked item for a main challenge!  I'm wondering if she was just over it.

Did I miss it or did Alex use pre-packaged lady fingers in his Charlotte?  If so, I protest!  I don't like when they use cookies or other items that are already made  even if they make the rest from scratch.

Alex has learned to play the game and cater to Nancy.  He specifically made that gel for her.

I thought he baked them.... mmm.

As much as I liked Kate, I agree with you. While the dessert was really neat looking, it really wasn't baked. It was the right decision.

My nephew drowned in an outdoor pool at an apartment complex.  It was off-season and the management had done nothing to winterize the pool and there was about 6 feet of rain and snow runoff in the diving well.  He was playing at a friend's house and the dad had spoken to both kids about 5 minutes before they disappeared.  My nephew had taken swimming classes, but that doesn't do much when you fall in fully clothed and the water is cold.  The other kid also fell in, no one witnessed it.  The other kid survived.  He had a tracheotomy, a feeding tube and a mental age of 2 months afterwards.  There are things worse than death.  There is no amount of caution that is ever enough when it comes to kids and water.

I was a kid in the 60's and we went to the beach a lot in the summer, we lived on Lake Erie.  My parents took turns watching us when we were anywhere near the water and, as we got old enough to help, we got assigned beach duty, too.  If my parents knew to keep a close eye on kids at the beach in the 60's, the Turners should've known too.

That is just terribly sad. And yes, there are things worse than death.

I can't remember why this little girl fell in the water. Her parents would not allow her to swim unless my parents invited her and no one was in the water. Maybe she tripped because she wasn't the kind to just jump in. She was smart enough to know she couldn't swim. I'm still friends with her and I wonder if 50 years later, she remembers anything.

We may be looking at this from a 2024 lens were we have all probably had swimming and water safety education.(Although Fred the safety guy should have been on it, I agree) But even these days children drown every year at pool parties and beaches because people assume because lots of adults and lifeguards  are around that the kids are safe. As a lifeguard - in-previous -life , I go nuts at pools and beaches at how inattentive some people are with their children. Drowning can and does happen so quickly.

We used to have pool parties often. I remember one year, our neighbor's daughter fell in our pool. She was maybe 4 and our pool was new. She had been swimming in there before but always had a on a life jacket and us kids in the pool would keep an eye out on here. Her mother and my mom would sit near by and keep an eye out too. This time, everyone was milling about and no one was swimming. I remember her father jumping in without hesitation to get her. She didn't sink and was perfectly fine except for crying.

After that,  her parents made sure she learned how to swim. My parents lived there for many years more and as she grew up, she swam often at our house. But things can  happen in a split second.

It's a mystery that Trixie isn't concussed due to the number of falling anvils.  Good grief, for someone trained to make keep observations she is remarkably obtuse!

    That made my day!

I want to know why they aren't getting married? They are engaged, she wears a ring, but I never hear them planning a wedding, only trying to get a child.

I get you don't have to be married to have a child, but they are so focused on having a child, why not get married too?

I could have sworn there was an episode where they celebrated her adoption.

I thought so too but maybe it was when they officially became her Foster Parents?

And Matthew needs to man up and tell Trixie. But as was common at the time, he's keeping it a secret. Probably doesn't want to "let her down" or some shit.

This is an era when the man would hide things like this because they have to appear to be strong.

I don't want to defend these scenes because they were really bad, but as a PSA I will say she was floating on the Lido and they can get out far really fast if there is any kind of wind or current. And some kids seem oblivious to water temp if they are having fun.

I had a pool growing up and I can attest to that! I remember one year, my friends and I swam way too early in the season (my dad had just opened the pool) with no heater. We had blue lips and shivered but we didn't get out.

Oh my goodness, you’re right! Those balloons should have sunk, not risen!

Wow, yea, I didn't even think about that!

Not my favorite episode. I did like the young couple with the girls. That was a good storyline.

Naive of me, figuring Gerry & Theresa's septagenarian status meant they were level-headed. I am 68 myself.

When it comes to love, everyone is an idiot.

I just learned Rachel & Bryan are getting divorced!

Most of these marriages are doomed, I guess age doesn't make much difference.

I wonder if Gerry and Theresa  agreed to the marriage and everything, just to take advantage of the attention, the honeymoon, etc.

I find it hard to believe that 2 adults with that much life experience would not realize that real life, outside of the bachelor bubble is totally different.

Just  theory -- maybe they said, let's take  what they are offering, have some fun.  And if it works out, great but if not, we'll go our separate ways.  No harm, no foul.

And  I also wonder how much it affects them when they  read forums like this and other social media.    We are not kind to them, when we voice our opinions.   That is not a criticism, that is what this is for.   And why most people experiencing any type of fame or attention are told to not read this type of thing, not to engage.

But  I know if it was me, I would take a look.   We can be brutal, but these forums are for fun and we can be honest and snarky all we want.

I just wonder if they think  a little differently after reading  some of the opinions of others.

They should have just dated but there is a lot of temptation with what they were being offered.

All of the above ring true to me.
I didn’t much care for Gerry as he is just not my type, but I did think at first he was as portrayed, a grieving widower ready to try again.

But, as Tink referenced, everything important in his story was a lie, other than he was in fact a widower. She shouldn’t have gone through with it but of course—-TV, money, some fame, paid-for wedding—and since they never lived together, not even in the same state, I don’t see how that could’ve lasted.

I think it is very easy to get caught  up in all the glamour and then when there you are back to normal reality, it is a let down and the truths start emerging.

My father was a dentist. He worked really hard and did pretty well but were not rich by any stretch of the imagination. Dental school is four years on top of undergraduate, at least, with many dentists doing specialized training on top of that. It costs as much as medical school. The equipment and staffing to run a practice are also expensive. Insurance doesn't reimburse them well at all.

Sure there are dentists who charge a fortune, but most of the ones I've encountered are charging prices that are pretty consistent with what it takes to pay their student loans and run their practices.

I'm sorry, I shouldn't have implied it is a racket or something. One just has to look at medical costs to know EVERYTHING is expensive. I think my frustration is more the insurance that doesn't seem to feel oral care is very important. It isn't cosmetic, it isn't botox or a face lift.
