Someone mentioned this earlier but I can't spot exactly where now. I wonder if Kaylee was driving? Her injuries are on the left side of her face -- consistent with cuts from the driver's side window being down and possible contact with the steering wheel. Maybe that's why Nurie was so weird and looked rehearsed for the video. Did they not have Kaylee on the insurance? Not that they seem to be able to use the insurance but that might be why she was more banged up than Nurie. That would also explain why Jill isn't talking about her. Nurie is the golden child anyway and it would only make Kaylee more of a pariah if she wrecked the car and endangered her sister. Kaylee is mentioned but it's still all about Nurie. Fundraiser is up to $2,332 now. That more than covers the value of the old Civic. She posted a pic today on Facebook with the girls and Amy. "They all cried together. Kevin and Amy had a KEEN understanding of what they went through." Jill the Drama Queen milks it for all it's worth. She mentions how grateful Nurie is to her sister but it's still ALL ABOUT NURIE. Poor Kaylee's eye still looks pretty bad.

Wow... That was painful to watch. She had prayed the night before to take pride out of her heart and she thinks this was something to... I don't know... She's rambling. Teach her a lesson? There's a lot of "...and I'm just so grateful to the Lord and stuff". I shit you not. Every other sentence was "and stuff". "My dad was so grateful we're alive and stuff." "And I said I was so sorry and stuff." " My dad said not to be sorry and stuff." David got there when he was called. Jill came when David called her so she must not have been exactly in a panic. Nurie has a small cut on her hand and she bruised her elbow. She's grateful that she's not "paralyzed and stuff" like her aunt. Brags about David who is, to her mind, working himself to death in the printing business. He can't possibly get an extra job because there's no time. Timothy can't take college online because of "certain math classes and stuff". "Daddy's scraping his pennies" to make the trip out west to take Timothy to his (probably remedial) math classes. Nurie decides that she'll "do a banquet" to raise money but she has no time since they're "doing a CD" so she did the "GoToMeFund" to get money. And they NEED another car. "It's a desperate need." And David needs to go pick up his mother so she could come see Janessa. Now's she's begging the viewers to please donate ("help us out") and that it would "cheer her up". Now she's crying that she is "the most blessed daughter in the world". (Translation: Jill has yelled at her about the car and she can't tell anyone.) Now she's calling it the "GoToFund". Yikes. I need a shower and a stiff drink.

So far... It's pretty much what they've already said. Nurie was looking down at the air conditioner knob and looked up to see a "rock boulder" and they hit it. There was water on Nurie's side but not on K's. They dug out gravel to get through the windows Apparently, neighbors saw them and the girls told them to call their dad. He was "sweet" about it. Nurie appears to feel guilty and says she suffers from "pride". (Argh.) Nurie feels really bad about the car. The FreeJinger commenter said that her wording sounds like the GoFundMe post. (Maybe she wrote it after all?) ... My take is that Jill is making her feel terrible and she's desperate to somehow make it right. Those poor kids. I really detest Jill Rodrigues.

Timothy will never get away. He'll do that first year, maybe, online but no way will Jill let him go all the way to Washington. And there's no possibility that he'd have the money to go anyway. Jill is just using this to give him false hope and to do her usual grifting routine. He'll have some of the money but Jill will find a way to guilt him into using it to help support the family. Well, poor thing, he'd probably not pass any basic tests to get into the harder stuff anyway. Honestly, she's the worst fundie parent that I follow. All I ever want to do is find a way to save those poor, underfed children.

Joy and Austin: This One Time At Family Camp

I'll admit up front that I'm suspicious of pretty much everything that the Duggars say. Just because they give us information, it doesn't necessarily mean that it's true. I'm not at all sure that Gideon was transverse. That is definitely something that any midwife would recognize. No one would have allowed her to labor for 20 (or how ever many) hours if that were true. It's possible that the heart rate started going down and that's what alerted them to finally move her to the hospital. Maybe her water finally broke and it was stained with meconium. Who knows? I think they didn't want us to realize that, once again, they'd gambled on everything going okay and had been stupid. I'm glad she and the baby are safe and well. I just don't buy what they're selling. -
I was raised Fundie-lite. (We went to church all the time and had to be obedient and "keep sweet" but my parents did approve of higher education and allowed us to occasionally date. We had unreasonably early curfews, however.) I think JillRod is angry at Nurie for wanting to go to Botswana and for wanting to marry and leave. When I was a teenager, I was responsible for my younger siblings. My mother would get angry if I even expressed a wish to attend an evening event at school. I wasn't supposed to want to abandon my "duties". Jill probably feels that Nurie has no right to want to leave her poor, sweet, long-suffering Mama. Thus, she manages to vent about "sluttish" women and attributes it to that selfish older daughter who is supposed to be home taking care of all those little kids.

I don't think it's an American thing so much as it's a "have no interior decorating skill" thing. One of my adult children has a home decorated much the same way -- lots and lots of brown. (It's their home and not mine so I stay quiet.) The grandkids have big, bright plastic toys so it cheers up the house. -

What troubles me is that we don't really know when this picture was made. It may or may not have been on John David's birthday. There are (oddly) no small Duggarlings in the picture so we can't compare their sizes to other photos. And where is Joy? The new baby may or may not be here. Basically, the Duggars and Duggar-adjacents show us what they choose to show us. Beyond knowing that this is the Austin&Joy house, we don't really know anything else. -
I've got grown children with spouses and I have the same problem. I'm gonna be vague (just in case they ever find my user name) and say that one or two of these kids and/or spouses have the thinnest skin on the planet. It's agonizing. I've just gotten through the holidays and most of the nights involved me lying in bed worrying over what I might have said and how it might have been misunderstood. Big hugs to you. I hope your daughter eases off and lets you be a part of her wedding planning. At any rate, it's her problem and not yours.

Joy and Austin: This One Time At Family Camp

Okay, coming out of long time lurkerdom. I've bookmarked this forum and have been reading here for a long, long time. I haven't bothered to register until today because all the comments are so interesting and funny that I didn't feel that I had anything to add. Except for this one small opinion: I think it's possible that Joy was pregnant on her wedding day (not that it matters or that I think that's bad in any way). Remember the bridal salon day? She kept melting down and calling Austin. And every time they put her in a beautiful dress that fit perfectly, she was nearly in tears. I think she was afraid that she might not be able to fit into it at her wedding if the waist wasn't loose. Almost all of the formal wedding pictures have her holding flowers over her abdomen. There's even a photo in Switzerland during her honeymoon with the arm held across her stomach posted on the duggarloversforever site. I have no idea how they managed to find alone time but -- good for them, if they did. Okay. Back to lurkerdom. :-)
