  1. I don't think Megan's speech was her trying to tell Owen to dump Amelia. It was more a speech about letting yourself be happy and grasping on to any small amount of happiness you find because life is short. Owen was the one who came to the conclusion that for him that meant separating from Amelia (which was the first sound decision he's made in seasons imo). I'm more upset that her speech/the writing seemed to be trying to normalize cheating as some thing that "just happens" because people are "flawed". I get that it does happen, but this show makes it seem like every one cheats on their SO's and they hardly ever deal with it. They just try to normalize it and brush it under the rug. Cheating isn't normal, it's a big deal!
  2. He didn't actually break up with her because she said she wanted to take time off to raise her kids though, he broke up with her because she wasn't Cristina. Cristina came to Owen's trailer drunk and they ended up sleeping together, and then Owen broke it off with Emma. No matter how happy they looked, Owen was obviously still in love with Cristina and having her right in front of him in the same hospital made it impossible for him to fully let himself move on. It a big part of the reason Cristina decided to leave and go to Switzerland, to finally let Owen move on and "be happy" (which is ironic because he's been pretty much depressed ever since). It is frustrating that he essentially sabotaged that seemingly "perfect" relationship to be with Cristina when he knows they don't work, but you can't help who you love I guess.
  3. I'm not saying one should always take precedence over the other, but that's kind of my point. It seemed like Mer and Cristina's friendship was always thought of as more important in their lives and that's gotta make their spouses feel shitty. Owen brought it up in his and Cristina's marriage counselling sessions that he felt like second place to Mer, and I totally understood and agreed with what he was saying. That was when Cristina finally got some sense and told Mer that Owen needs to come first in her life sometimes! But I agree that Meredith was way worse for it. One time that really ticked me off was after the plane crash when Derek injured his hand and couldn't operate and his best friend (Mark) had just died, Mer decides to go get on a plane and visit Cristina in Minnesota because she "might be lonely". That's just crazy!! Yes! Another example of this was the whole abortion thing. Cristina confided in Meredith about not wanting to be a mother way more than she did with Owen. All those conversations she had with Mer she should have been having with Owen, instead of just yelling no at him every time it came up. Then Meredith is the one to tell Owen that Cristina needed him to go with her to the abortion, that should be a private matter between husband and wife. The best friend's feelings shouldn't be involved.
  4. Great...yet another repeat of Cristina and Owen's storylines
  5. As for the rest of the episode, I called Megan and Riggs leaving together during the premiere, but I don't really know how I feel about it. On one hand I didn't really care about Riggs/Mer because he was such a poorly developed character who seemed to have no personality whatsoever, but I also was just starting to like him and I thought he had a good dynamic with Owen and a potential friend for April. I can't believe he was written off so quickly. He didn't even get a goodbye scene with either of them! But the final scene with him and Megan and Farouk on the beach was so beautiful, so I am glad they got a happy ending. I hope Megan can come back and guest star every now and then, because I really liked her dynamic with both Owen and Meredith. Decent episode, nothing spectacular. But thank god for Owen finally breaking it off with Amelia. Those two were such an odd, awkward couple with really nothing in common. I mean they "dated", got married, and got divorced without once saying I love you to each other. Just bad writing. I hope the writers have the good sense to stick this out and not have them "slowly fall back in love" with this new and improved Amelia. That would just be too soapy for me.
  6. I didn't get that at all. I don't think Owen was intentionally being a controlling ass, I think he just did want his sister to move so far away after being gone for 10 years. I actually really felt for Owen in this regard. I mean the man literally thought she was dead for a decade, of course he isn't going to be thrilled about her moving away right as soon as she got back. I can understand thinking he was being controlling if it was a normal situation, but the guy just missed his sister! I actually think this was a great episode for revealing why Owen acts in such a stubborn, rigid way sometimes. I hope that his conversation with Megan will allow him to finally let himself be happy in one way or another. I also had this thought while watching. Especially with Megan's whole speech to Owen about "letting go of his perfect idea of life" I thought maybe that was a sign he would just forgo kids and his "perfect life" completely and go to find Cristina. His character always seemed happiest when they were together, and I think they probably would've worked long term if it weren't for the kid thing and he could just loosen up a bit. Let's be real, Owen hasn't had an engaging storyline since Cristina left the show. Ha! I don't know what it is about the actress but she always looks just a little bit psycho ;)
  7. Oh my god thank you! Some one that finally agrees with me about Mer and Cristina! Everyone always goes so crazy over their friendship but after like season 5/6 it just became unhealthy! I felt bad for Derek and Owen because the girls always seemed to put their friendship before their respective relationships and it started to get so tired. I think it was in season 8 when Cristina finally told Meredith that Owen was her person too, I cheered. Like finally someone has some sense! You can have a best friend but sometimes you have to prioritize your husband/family first!
  8. Ugh, yes! The resolution to that whole storyline bugged me to no end and its the first thing that put me off of Jo and Jo/Alex together.
  9. Yes, Owen is on the boat with the guys and he seems pretty carefree and relaxed, so I can't imagine his sister just died. I for one am happy because Owen has been through enough crap, he doesn't need that too. I'm still leaning towards Riggs going off into the sunset (desert?) with Megan and her kid. Haha I don't think it was ever actually said on the show, but I've seen quite a few fans refer to to the original 5 as MAGIC (Mer, Alex, George, Izzie, Cristina). Its just tedious typing out everyone's names all the time :P I'll be kinda bummed if Riggs is being written out. Not because I particularly liked him and Meredith, but I was just beginning to like his character (now that the writers have decided to give him one). It's a toss up for me with Owen because I really used to like his character, and like you said it seems like the guys are just dropping like flies on this show, but they really haven't done anything with him since Cristina left. It seems like the writers are out of ideas for him and they are just botching his character as a result. His entire storyline with Amelia has been awful and now they're kind of stuck with it unfortunately. It sucks because there was actually potential to write a single dad storyline for him if he just chose to adopt a kid by himself!
  10. Bailey was not chief resident at the beginning of the show, that storyline happened in season 2 or 3. Originally Callie got it but she was so bad that Bailey ended up doing the job anyways. I believe that the original 5 (MAGIC) were just assigned to Bailey as like a mentor type thing, so she had some kind of authority over them. I think all residents have interns assigned to them whether they are chief resident or not. When the original 5 became residents in seasons 4/5 they had Lexie's class as interns. I remember because Cristina gave them numbers instead of names lol.
  11. Oh yes I remember that episode as well, it was really good. You should totally watch/re-watch this episode. It's called "Where the boys are", S3 E7. Burke, Derek, Webber, Alex, George and Joe the bartender all go camping and it is a riot! Great episode.
  12. I am seriously excited that the guys are getting their own storylines again. For the last couple of years it has felt like the male characters were just props for the females and they never had anything to do outside of their relationships which really limited the writing. I hope this episode is reminiscent of the fishing trip the guys went on in season 3 with Burke and Derek. That was a great episode!
  13. I actually think a couple of them wouldn't be so bad as new characters. The blond chick you mentioned that "hated her peers" reminded me of early seasons Cristina a bit, the cocky one on his phone that said GS was his second choice gave me Alex vibes, and I find glasses to be kind of adorable and funny. Also the guy that talked about serving overseas would connect with Owen. Ha! That would have made the whole episode even more fantastic. I was kind of waiting for something like that to happen too because its Grey's and everything that could go wrong usually does. Oh my god YES! I just don't understand what they see in each other? It feels like the characters were just forced together so Owen would have something to do post-Cristina but the actors have never had any romantic chemistry. And it is especially obvious because he and Sandra Oh had an insane amount of chemistry, so Owen and Amelia just pale in comparison. At first they seemed more like friends but now I wouldn't even go that far. They spent almost all last season ignoring each other and most of this season as well so far. Its just all anguish and no emotional pay-off at all! They are both just so much more likeable when they are apart...
  14. Pleaaaase! That would make me so happy. I freaking love him already, he's so much better than Amelia! No they were pretty much all awful. I didn't mind the one blonde chic with the "attitude" because she reminded me a bit of Cristina and Glasses is funny, but the rest can GTFO. I'm so tired of shows portraying millennials as these vapid, technology-obsessed narcissists... Glad I wasn't the only one that noticed that. From the interactions these 2 have had so far this season, they already have better chemistry than Owen and Amelia. And Greg German's character asked him about sleeping with his teacher for "extra credit". Possible foreshadowing maybe?? This episode was really good except for Owen and Amelia. The end scene was just so random and out of the blue. Owen wasn't with Amelia almost all episode, through her surgery or her recovery, then all of a sudden he shows up at the end of the episode begging her to come home? And I also hate that he is essentially trying to just push everything that happened between them under the rug. I don't care if she had a tumor, he should be at least a little bit pissed at her still! I mean he was *this close* to breaking up with her like a day ago. Him begging her to love him after all the crap she put him through makes him look desperate as hell imo. I actually agreed with Amelia (for the first time in a while) that they should spend some time apart and evaluate what this all means (aka break up because they finally realize they are horrible together). The amount of time they spent apart in this episode really bugged me. If they are setting them up to be together again, they are doing a horrible job of it because these two are the worst married couple I've ever seen. I know many people didn't like Owen with Cristina, but at least they actually seemed in love with each other. These two don't even seem to like each other, nevermind love. I just wish they'd break up already, they have no chemistry and fighting for this relationship is not worth it!
  15. Me too! Even though I hated the new interns in season 9 (other than Brooks, gone too soon!) she was the only one I grew to actually like after the whole BS storyline with Jackson. She was actually a decent character that was driven to learn and not always caught up in stupid drama. If the writers had actually given her more to do, she could've been a really great character, plus Jerika Hinton was an awesome actress. Her final episode showed the actress's and character's potential.
