Please please please don't buy tickets from CraigsList or on street corners! Most of those tickets (at least to the sold out shows - especially Hamilton) are fakes. And you have no way to get your money back. At least if you buy resale tickets through TicketMaster or StubHub, you won't lose your money, even if the tickets are fake.

Jac, for the average Broadway show, there's no need to plan too far in advance. I usually scout the discount sites (Playbill and BroadwayBox) for codes and will buy my tickets anywhere from a couple of weeks to the day of the show. That's obviously not true for the big hits. For Book of Mormon, I bought tickets 6 months out. For Hamilton, 10 months. I'd check the ticketing sites (usually TicketMaster or Telecharge) and see how availability is. As far as student discounts, I know most shows have rush tickets that are sold the day of the show. Some are student rush, some general. It seems to be an individual show decision. You'd need to check the show website and see what they offer. Or maybe Playbill. I think I've read they have a rush page. Good luck and hope you enjoy your time here!

In that picture, the new Phillies 'head is directly behind QuackerJack. That has been moved...off to the side. Now, in the back row of that shelf is Screech (Nats mascot), the Phillie Phanatic, and the Houston Comets mascot Haley. It's a crowded shelf.

The Game of the Week was the best. Joe and Tony Kubek - great way to spend the afternoon.

Thanks for posting this. Good to see he's enjoying himself. And I would have totally walked by him in the street and had no idea who he was...

QuackerJack has arrived! He's at home now in the mascot tower between Ballapeno and Henry the Puffy Taco from the San Antonio Missions. We had a great time at that game!! Thank you so much, Moose135! I really appreciate it!!

MSNBC: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (Vaulted)
ebk57 replied to Jaded's topic in Political Network Talk
We must be watching different channels because I've seen a bunch of ads for Kathleen, in addition to radio ad saturation. Between her and Trone, you'd never know there was an actual politician with experience running in this race. I agree with the disappointment in this network. The all Trump, all the time is seriously disgusting and makes me want to throw things at my TV. I have a hard time believing it's helping ratings. -
Because Daddy went to art school...makes me laugh every time.

Joe Grossman. I had to rewind it to make sure it was him standing on the ladder. I love this show.

Happy Birthday Aim!! Hope you had a great day and enjoyed the game!

1 ) I had no idea people bought shampoo from ebay b ) I think they re-introduced the original green bottles a couple of years ago, but they seem to have discontinued them again. iii ) It seems you can get them from Greece... http://www.ebay.com/itm/UNIQUE-CLAIROL-HERBAL-ESSENCE-SHAMPOO-ORIGINAL-PACK-1-DOZEN-300ml-OILY-HAIR/231862555245?_trksid=p2045573.c100033.m2042&_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20131017132637%26meid%3D0eb7d4ccb0a14e39955606232aaf63bc%26pid%3D100033%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D4%26sd%3D281777734546 Definitely worth the expense. Maybe. Not.

I've been there. I think it was in 2009 and we sat downstairs on the first base side. It was unremarkable. Sorry I don't remember any food in particular or really much of anything about the place. Although I do like the riverboat thing in center field.

That's our "leaving town today" tradition. We'll be there for lunch on the way to the airport. And if anyone is in St Pete looking for food, FarmTable Kitchen is fabulous. It's even better than Z Grille (which is pretty damn great).

I did! I had a lovely view from my seat behind the Pirates dugout (drink! :-) ), even though I was 11 rows up. Every time he came out to the on deck circle, I thought of you. In a totally non-creepy way... It was a perfect day. And now my spring training baseball is over. I only have food left to look forward to for tonight and tomorrow.
-
So... the O's stink. I've seen 2 pretty, pretty bad baseball games so far. When your team brings in #98 to pitch in the 4th inning, you know they've conceded the game. But - no one remembers the spring training champ, right? And... it's baseball!!! Tomorrow - Bradenton. And since the O's managed to eke out 5 runs tonight, we get free frozen custard at Culver's. Yay!

So remember when I said I wasn't getting any 'heads this weekend? On the way into Bright House Field, Briggs and Stratton were having some kind of event. And I saw boxes of 'heads on tables. So I asked. If we agreed to "test" a lawn mower on camera, we got a 'head and a ten dollar bill (Hamilton!). So... if you see me in a commercial for Briggs and Stratton at some point, I apologize. I've whored myself out for a 'head and a ten. Moose135, I'd love the duck!! I'll message you. Thanks so much!!! Oh yeah, there was a game. 12-11, ending on a walk-off 3 run homer. Amazingly bad. But...it's baseball!!
-
Not expecting to take home any 'heads. But the O's did "invite" us to a pre-game picnic at the park, which included all the hot dogs, burgers, popcorn, soda and water we could eat/drink. And, a Matt Weiters 'head. For the low, low price of $23 each. We will be going out for a real dinner, thank you very much. Besides, I already have the Weiters 'head. So there.

We're here in St Pete! Had a fabulous dinner tonight at Z Grille. Tomorrow - Phillies and ... another team ... at Bright House Field (home of the best beer selection of the spring training sights!). Can. Not. Wait!!! Saturday - O's (and another team) in Sarasota. Sunday - Pirates (and another team...do you sense a pattern here?) in Bradenton. There will also be more food. Love Spring Training!

Vacations: Where To Go, What To See, Where To Eat
ebk57 replied to tribeca's topic in Everything Else
I'm remiss in reporting back about Hollywood FL. Didn't really spend much time there, but I can heartily recommend Funky Buddha brewery in Ft Lauderdale. If you can't get there, but see the beer in your store, buy it. It's good. We also drove up to Ft Lauderdale for dinner at Eduardo de San Angel, an absolutely fabulous upscale Mexican restaurant. We used to go there every year while there for Spring Training, but hadn't been back in about 6 years. It's still outstanding! Now we're in St Pete for Spring Training. Tonight it's Z Grille. Love that place. Tomorrow is Bern's, which is the best. Saturday we're going to Sarasota for a night game. Does anyone have any suggestions for an early dinner in the area? I've read up, but personal recommendations are better. Thanks! -
It's a tie! Yay? I love Spring Training I believe the Astros are going to share the facility in West Palm with the Nats starting next year. So nothing in the center of the state. Someday I suppose I should check out the West Palm stadium. Someday...

Baseball on the radio right now!!! (It should be my game, but for some reason, XM isn't carrying that one. The Pirates-Tigers will do, though)
