  1. I wonder if they're waiting until 8x09 to show all the reaction stuff since that's technically when Carl dies? I know some people have said showing that Carl is going to die but waiting until the premiere to kill him is stupid because he takes away the momentum. I kind of get what they mean. We know Carl's dead but he's not dead yet. It won't be a surprise when it happens in a couple months. And since he's basically already dead, waiting to show all the cast reactions and whatnot will not have quite the same impact as it would have now when it was revealed. Chandler's dad posted this on his Zombie road trip page in response to a fan:
  2. As someone on here said, whether you liked Carl or not, he was pretty much the heart of the show. I told my sister, who has pretty much stopped watching the show, what happened to Carl and she said while she didn't like him that much that she thought it was a dumb thing to do. Carl has been built up to be the hope for the future. He was Rick's reason for living and fighting. And Carl was sort of that bridge from the world pre-apocalypse to the present and future. I sort of see it as three different tiers. There's Judith, who will only ever know this world, there's Rick and the other adults who had to adapt to this world, and then Carl was sort of in between. He was old enough to remember life before the outbreak, but he was still very young and had to learn to live in this world. So while he knows what the world was like before, in many ways, he had to grow up in this new world.
  3. Yes, I think something like this would have been better. To think of how much Carl has survived through, this is how he goes? Getting bit by a walker while fighting them off in the woods when he and the other guy could have just kept walking? I like your idea of Negan accidentally shooting Carl and feeling bad. Or have the explosion hurt Carl enough to kill him. They could have had Carl's death come from saving Alexandria and getting caught in the crossfire. Or if they had to do a zombie bite, having him be outnumbered by a swarm might have been a bit better than just trying to fight off a couple walkers for the sake of it. Yeah, there's no need to follow the comic timeline. Following a book timeline in real life isn't always possible, especially when you have kids. They could have easily kept the stories from the comics but spread them out through the timeline. I also think part of the problem with determining the timeline is Maggie's pregnancy and Judith. We found out Maggie was pregnant in season 6. Judith looked to be about 1.5 or 2 years old. Now she looks about 2.5 or 3 years old. Is Judith not aging, she just looks older (like Carl)? They've had the same twins playing Judith since season 6, which started filming in 2015, so the girls have to be 2.5 or 3 years old now. So then how far along is Maggie? You're right, the question is how much time has passed between 6B and now. And this also goes back to casting kids. If Judith is still supposed to be 1.5-2 years old, then maybe they should recast so that she still looks that age. I think someone had a huge post about how much time has passed since the beginning of the show. We know there was a time jump between seasons 2 and 3 because Lori was 8/9 months pregnant at the beginning of season 3. So that was about a 3-4 month time jump? And then there was a little time jump between 6x09 and 6x10. According to this Walking Dead wiki, in season 7, a little over 600 days has passed since the outbreak. This lists the season 7 finale as day 610. 610 days would be about a year and a half. http://walkingdead.wikia.com/wiki/The_Walking_Dead_TV_Show_Timeline Carl isn't dead just yet. He'll die in 8x09. So we could still see or hear Rick put him down. Unless he stabs him instead of shooting him
  4. I probably should have worded that better. The timeline is so annoying and complicated to follow. I wish they would better explain it. Judith keeps getting older but Maggie still doesn't look pregnant. I meant I didn't have too much of a problem with 16-18 year old Chandler playing a 14 year old. Yeah, he looked a bit older than 14, but it's not like they were trying to pass a 30 year old off as a 14 year old (which, plenty of shows have had 20-30 years old play high school teenagers). But yeah, I agree, they should have mapped out a timeline better or taken into consideration that the kids playing Carl and Judith are going to age because that's how life works. If they don't want to recast then they have to keep time flowing.
  5. I was wondering this too. I watched one of the AMC behind the scenes with the cast and crew of this episode. The producers were talking about how when Rick walks into the tunnel, he knows something is wrong because of how everyone is sitting. Then one of the producers says no one wants to be the one to tell Rick what's going on. Then it shows Rick finding Carl and seeing he was bit. So, what I took from this is the others who were down there must have found out Carl was bit and that's why they couldn't face Rick, because they knew he was about to find his son dying and no one could do anything to save him. As for how they found out, I don't know. They might explain that in the MSP by having someone mention Carl not looking good when he came down to join them, and that Carl fessed up to being bit and went to go sit by himself in case he turned? I was wondering this too. Isn't Carl still only like 14 or 15 on the show? I personally don't think it was too big of an issue but they could have done a time jump if that was really an issue. Isn't there supposed to be a 3 year time jump in the comics? That would have put Carl closer in age to Chandler. I agree with your thoughts about Carl. I've seen some people who didn't like him so they don't care if he's gone. I personally liked his character and thinks this sucks. My sister hasn't been watching this season (I've actually only watched the first episode and seen clips here and there because I haven't had time to catch up), but I told her what happened and she said it was dumb. She was pretty much done watching, saying she might catch this new season when they marathon it, but she said now she probably won't even do that. She didn't even necessarily like the Carl character, but she said even though she may not have liked him that much that it's stupid to kill him because he serves a big purpose to the story. I agree. I also agree with you about how they're killing Carl. I think if he had to die they could have given him a better way off. He dies because he got bit taking out a few walkers that he didn't really need to take out? Lame. I agree, it does seem like they weren't sure what to do with Carl. He plays a big role in the comics and even though I think his character still had a big purpose in the show in being what fueled Rick and the others, they didn't know what to do with him. The past few years especially, it seemed like Carl only appeared a few times in a half season. I don't know if they wanted to change up his stories in the show since Carl is older on the show. But if this is an age thing then the show should have taken that into consideration when they cast a 10/11 year old. Of course he's going to age. It seems like it was Gimple's decision for Carl to die and not Chandler wanting out. There have been spoilers saying Carl would die, and many people assumed it was because Chandler was starting college. But the interview with Chandler from Hollywood Reporter suggests that's not it at all. In fact, it seems like Chandler was going to go to school near Atlanta (where they film) and he bought a house there, and then they decided to kill him off. Once Chandler was let go from the show, he decided to take a gap year off from school and move to LA and focus on music and work in an Independent movie. So actually, Chandler was going to start college when he was still on the show, but changed his plans when he got fired. Not sure who will get Carl's comic story if they even give it to anyone.
  6. Probably. Maggie might actually look pregnant by then
  7. It seems like Chandler was going to go to college near where they film and he had just bought a house there. Then when he found out he wasn't going to be on the show he decided to take a gap year before starting college and moved to LA to do music and other acting gigs. So Chandler wanting to leave for school isn't what happened because he was planning on doing college until he found out and now he's taking a year off
  8. I just read that Chandler had just bought a house near where filming is before he learned he was getting killed off Wow. Just wow. Looks like he decided to take a gap year after he found out and is in LA right now doing music and other acting gigs.
  9. Melissa and Norman are original cast members. Dang. It's now the Atlanta Three.
  10. It would be one thing if they killed Carl because Chandler wanted off the show to focus more on school and try other things. But since it looks like this was Gimple's idea it's just stupid. There's a difference between taking a risk and doing something big and just going big for no reason other than dramatic purposes.
  11. SpoilerTV has info about Carl https://www.spoilertv.com/2017/12/the-walking-dead-season-8-spoiler-exits.html
  12. Yes, he had a dance in a dream sequence in season 1. I think he also had a dance in another dream like sequence in season 3? So he had a couple moments, but not many, especially compared to the others. But mad props to him for doing all the routines in a wheelchair
  13. If they got someone from Glee, Jane and Chris would be interesting. However, I'd really like to see Kevin McHale who played Artie. His character was in a wheelchair so he didn't really get to dance like the others. He's not a pro dancer but his cast mates said he was one of the better dancers out of the cast. It'll probably never happen, but I'd love to see Shemar Moore on the show. I'd definitely tune in if he was on :D
