    Rampage (2018)

Brad Peyton’s monster movie stars Dwayne Johnson and Naomie Harris as scientists confronting gigantic, genetically modified predators. The movie is half-decent, although it has major problems: The villains are ridiculous...in a Rocky and Bullwinkle type of way. How the hell are these two idiots running a billion dollar company? The special effects were hit or miss, good effects for George and the crocodile from hell. Awful for the wolf. I never understood Jeffrey Dean Morgan's character ---what agency is he from? Why is he basically all alone? What's with the cowboy thing? Why did his suit NEVER get dirty amidst all the chaos, rubble, bullets, rockets, etc? Having the movie open in outer space was awesome. I really enjoyed the opening scenes. Overall: Meh, catch it whenever it's on basic cable at 11pm.
  2. Heck, why don't they just LIVE by the river or the waterfall?
  3. I'm 30 and had never used anything on my face. I'd wash my face in the shower with regular body soap. A few months ago I bit the bullet and bought the La Mer moisturizing (soft cream). It's the only product I use and so far I'm satisfied, lines have decreased, certain spots looks better. I had a small mole taken out a few years ago and it's greatly diminished the scar. Overall, I'm a believer, although I live in a tropical climate and I'm unsure whether the La Mer gel cream is a better fit. Anyone else use La Mer products? And...can anyone recommend a good serum?
  4. Hungry monsters eat anything that makes a sound in John Krasinski's third outing as director, in which he co-stars with wife Emily Blunt. I saw this last night and it's very, very good. There are several OMG NOOOOOOOO moments.
  5. American Heiress by Jeffrey Toobin: Its the story of the 1974 kidnapping of Patty Hearst and the drama that ensued. I had only heard of her story in passing and I was pleasantly surprised by the book. Toobin keeps the story interesting, although there's a 50-75 page lull when Toobin's Supreme Court related books: The Nine and The Oath are excellent.
  6. I haven't read the book, so I enjoyed the film. I'm sure the more I think about it, plot holes will become evident. I didn't completely understand IOI's chokehold on the players and how they became indebted to them...and how they could get away with holding their debtors in forced labor. The visual effects were great, good cast chemistry and I especially liked the second challenge.
