  1. I have no idea who Bhabie is and refuse to look it up, but she was the classic example of someone who ruins a panel format by screeching over everyone.

Guy Branum, when she interrupted: "I was working up to my punchline, but you go ahead."

The awful Sklar Brothers are on later this week. Sigh. They already infected @midnight. (Apologies to those who enjoy them.)

  2. New show on Animal Planet about pet adoptions.

"Billed as cable’s first live weekly animal-adoption series, it will air live from noon-1 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays from the Animal Planet studios.

Audiences will visit centers and shelters around the U.S. to meet dogs, cats and other animals available for adoption and those dedicated to their adoptions and care. The series also will feature tips on topics like how to care for a new pet in addition to welcoming in-studio experts and fuzzy-faced guests to join Schachner each week.

More than 15 animals and their stories will be shown each day live from Best Friends Animal Society (BFAS) adoption centers in New York, Los Angeles, Atlanta and Salt Lake City and animal shelters across the country. All of the featured animals are available for adoption."

I hope they'll have follow-up segments on which animals are adopted and their new owners. If not, it's just a sad story.

  3. I don't necessarily think Greg and Deonna act differently off camera, but absolutely believe the producers would choose not to show them being more affectionate and open. Deonna's "walls" is the only bit of drama they have.

An ex of mine had an ongoing argument with his dad about some of his furniture and belongings he had stored in his parents' basement. He was angry that his dad was always on his case, wouldn't let it drop, etc. My suggestion was that he remove his damned stuff! Similarly, if Matt had had the decency to answer Amber's first text or call, she wouldn't have felt the need to keep trying.

Does Ryan wear costumes in his business away from the TV show? I'm guessing not, so why does Steve get bent out of shape about it?

Either the script writers are forgetting their continuity or it indicates that Steve never watched the show before he was on it. Ryan is kind of known for that.

Steve was the one who looked like an artsy hobo compared to most of the other brokers who were at the open.

Quick poll: which of the five brokers is the best looking to you?

If I just saw pictures and didn't know them, I'd rank them as Ryan, Luis, Fred, Steve and Tyler. (Long way around to say that Steve isn't all that. A lot of models aren't so much beautiful but just have the bone structure to photograph well.

I commend Tyler for talking about his weight loss surgery. It isn't the easy way out and does still require a lifelong commitment to diet and exercise.

  5. Yeah, I can't remember if I've taken against any of the other brokers on the MDL shows as quickly as I did with Tyler.

OTT people exhaust me, but he seems like a friendly and good-hearted person so we'll see.

Fredrik cuddling with his client's dog was super cute.

I'm looking forward to seeing what's up with Derek and L.A. next week. We'll all be sipping that tea about you, Fred!

  6. Indulging in one of my favorite MAFS pastimes, shuffling the matches:

Jamie wants to be coddled, flattered and puffed up. He wants a "sexual being." He gets a sick thrill from gaslighting his partner because it makes him feel more powerful in comparison.

Now, who is willing to give all the compliments, have all the sex, hand over all her money and take all the abuse? Hm.

It would absolutely be another toxic match, but I think at least there'd be a lot less screaming since Amber doesn't fight back.

In other news, I suspect Raven told Amber about seeing Matt some time before it was presented to viewers; likely before the couples retreat. She was very downcast there already.

  7. This is scraping the bottom of the peeves barrel but I still want to know why a good number of people type the name "Jamie" as "Jaime." Is it a very specific form of dyslexia that only affects one word? Are those folks all fluent in Spanish?

Disclosure: The show Married at First Sight has a weekly interview show hosted by someone named Jamie and there's also a contestant this season with that name.

... Okay, I just searched the forum and there are 111 results for "Jaime." I'm not making it up!  😊

That pigeon with an eagle head

Heh. It makes so much more sense as a mythical half and half creature!

It was typical of Cam's self-regard that he thought Pon should know he likes to do mandalas. People aren't paying that much attention to you, dude!

  9. I really didn't want Dani to go. She's never been in the bottom before and I think the judges have stepped on her a couple of times when she could/should have won. Maybe I'm making excuses, but her eagle was well inked even if the stubby body looked more like an owl.

That said, I hope Laura Marie wins.

All the wheelchair hubcap thingies in the flash challenge were nice and the kids made me cry.

Looking at the finalists' records, Jason has won three times, Laura twice, Pon once and Dani and Jake zero. Interesting season.

Edit: Dani updated her tattoo after the show to make it trash polka-y.

  10. The Lucy Lawless show is pleasant enough and I'm still watching, but man, it is bringing nothing new to the table. Well trodden paths.

Well, I haven't seen any other artisanal bread bakers solving murders, but aside from that.

  11. I just found Cash Pad on CNBC. A couple of investors (an engaged couple from The Bachelorette, but I'm trying not to hold that against them) partner with homeowners to create a rental space on their property. It's not horrible and the Air BNB aspect adds a bit of interest. Airs Tuesdays at 10pm.

I was watching a flip show today with the obligatory scene of installing a huge steel header. Struggle struggle blah blah. Will it fit? Will someone drop it? Suspenseful music and a commercial break!! It's every bit as boring to me as the stupid demo day footage.

  12. Matt and I have a vastly different understanding of words like "tried" and "best."

I love Deonna, I love Greg, I love seeing their affection grow. Second favorite couple ever, after Anthony and Ashley.

  13. How would people feel about requesting a topic change to something like Flipping/Remodeling/Design shows, and merge the current Design thread into it?

There aren't a lot of pure design shows any more (like the old Design on a Dime and similar) that don't have their own forums, and even the flipping shows sometimes do a "remodel for a client" episode instead of a flip.

Might make things more inclusive and easier to find. 😀

Same goes for car wash employees who drive 20 feet to move the car to the drying area.

I also see no reason for mechanics and body shop workers to change my radio station.

I do expect them to steal the laundromat quarters I used to keep in the cup holder.

I did like the fact that the film crew was not there and gave the keeper privacy to say good-bye

That was thoughtful. I was also happy to hear that they initially left his body where his mate could see it. I've wondered about that with other bonded pairs or apes/packs that have clearly defined social hierarchies.

  16. Thanks for the recommendation for Mountain Mamas, @car54. They lean hard on "Montana rustic" but it makes sense for them and is different from what most other shows do. They're pleasant women and easy to spend time with.

I just discovered Restored today and have been binging through the previous seasons. It's fun to watch Brett put walnut paneling back in 70s houses, divide up rooms, add swinging kitchen doors, etc. In a couple of episodes, you could see it pained him to even replace old 30s-50s era tile countertops when the homeowners insisted. It's nice to see higher end remodeling and I appreciate that these are well researched, thorough jobs.
