  1. The whole scenario about the girl and her mother hiding from the abusive father was handled poorly.  She was certainly old enough to know the address where they are living and keeping the phone under the bed in a sack of clothes was beyond stupid.  Lose precious time yanking it out from the hiding space when you need it.

Chicago- she bugged. Between her overusing the term "hosting" and the ever popular "it's not really my style", she was annoying. And the whole curb appeal angle. My home has wonderful curb appeal, but that's not a reason to buy or not buy. They didn't seem like a couple to me, more like siblings. That all being complained about, they picked the right one.

And don't get me started on the whole short term rentals. No matter how awesome it is, you will never get as much in rental as you think. Cleaning, insurance, wear and tear, etc all take a piece of profit.

And her total gut job of that kitchen consisted of moving the refrigerator.  Anyone  have an idea what that was around the bottom of the toilet in their unit.  Almost looked like a toddler's potty helper.

I don't know if they have them on cruises (never been on one, never will go on one), but it still seems risky to surround yourself with triggers you can't really get away from.

I agree about the eye shadow - but having just seen a picture of a celebrity (don't know who) wearing the same stuff, I guess it's a trend?

She did wear loose clothes, which could indicate another pregnancy, but could also be that she just didn't bounce back from her last one. It happens, as I sadly know.

She does look on the large side, like she never lost any of that pregnancy weight.  Really notice it on her face.

I hope that was amped up for the show because if not, she is an incredibly annoying and  presumptuous PITA. And she gives her daughter a hard time for being immature? I wonder how she ended up that way? Can't be from being infantilized by her micromanaging mom.

The mother didn't bother me, it was that airhead daughter.  Talk about a loon.

More eyebrows! What's up with the Sharpie eyebrows?

And she loves "white and bright" but then complains the second house is "too white". Pick a lane!

And he's definitely a momma's boy who's workout room so far hasn't help him too much.

Yes, she went to grad school for a mental health subject, and they're staying there.

I wondered about that too, and how anyone affords the house prices.  15, 5, and 1 years old.   I wonder if any were with the boyfriend?

The first house basement bar was hysterical.   If you're tall enough to bartend, or drink at that bar, then you'll probably hit your head on the ceiling.

Second could work with the splitting of the one bedroom into two.    Third one on busy street, will be wonderful on snowy days, it will get plowed and sanded first.

I figured she would get the vintage house #2.  A total money pit.

Thought the one year old resembled him.  Never know.

I was wondering about neighborhoods in Baltimore especially. Granted my *extensive* knowledge of Baltimore is based on The Wire but my understanding is that there are areas of Baltimore which still remain particularly unsafe and I assumed from the pricing, that those row homes might be in those areas.

I live in a dense metropolis so I do understand why people are willing to trade space for the amenities of a true urban lifestyle. However the really tiny row homes like the first one are just too small for me because there doesn't seem to be any comfortable way to set up the living room as it looks more like a hallway. When the realtor suggested two love seats I just snorted because you can't curl up on a loveseat the way you can on a couch and who wants a couch you can't curl up on.

And the Army test pilot in Iowa City - another idiot who thinks that a single bowl sink is a farmhouse sink. A farmhouse sink is one that has the "apron" front and can actually have two bowls. I have a true farmhouse sink and it has one bowl so I do understand why someone hates double bowl sinks because with my old sink anything large had to be washed at an angle so I would wind up getting water on myself and the counter.

I was intrigued by the woman from Kenya who was some type of mental health therapist in South Dakota. I am wondering how this works given that South Dakota is one of the least culturally diverse states in the US and I would think there might be potential difficulty when one doesn't really have an understanding of the nuances of the standard South Dakota culture. Years ago I remember a psychologist was discussing a colleague from another country who didn't realize that someone in the ER was severely delusional because she was claiming to be Mrs. John Lennon - he had no idea who John Lennon

I grew up in Baltimore City and it's a shame what that city has become.  Abandoned houses everywhere and crime is a major problem.  Good luck with buying into those areas.

Toms River, NJ. For once, wanting a historic home wasn't just a story line for the show. I was surprised.

Have to wonder how many fathers there are; three children with a wide range of ages.

He ended buying an electric fireplace to fit over the existing marble one in the living room.

Neither house 1 or house 3 are in desirable safe areas of Baltimore.

But I could tell from the realtor's pronunciation of Baltimore that he was a real native.  A big plus for me.

I got a kick out of seeing the Baltimore rowhouses, and the single family.     The single family had a lot of room, and yard, but I didn't like the surrounding houses.   I had to laugh at the homebuyer wanting a fixer to save money, but then saying that doing everything would be too much time and money.     I don't think that house will ever be exactly what he wants.

He ended buying an electric fireplace to fit over the existing marble one in the living room.

Hey, Shanika also has her "I know THAT'S right"/Mmm-hhh/smug face that she sometimes goes with. In any case I'm glad we're done with her until the next back to win season. And I'm a tiny bit glad that she outlasted Emily, although the show didn't play on their "rivalry" from their original season as much as I would have expected.

I will give it to the producers. Some seasons of this and other cooking shows make it seem like it is a long march to coronate a given winner. I could see any of the three finalists winning at this point. I would put most of my quatloos on Christian as it seems Gordon particularly likes him. But there's a good story to tell about Michael having improved so much over his previous season and becoming an award-winning cookbook author and one to tell about Dara having gone from a Masterchef Jr. finalist to a true Masterchef.

It's going to have to be an awful lot of padding, because there's just the last 5 minutes of cooking of the entrees, the Christina Tosi reveal and the prep and presentation of the desserts and the final choice. That shouldn't take more than 30 minutes.

Christine Tosi looks really different since she last appeared on Masterchef.

What about that enormous "cottage" they built on the lake in Canada?  They sure went overboard with that, considering it was just going to be a vacation home.

I'm just wondering where Sarah is going to find all the business to justify her having such a large office space.

So, the office isn't finished (and the design there is horrible), the hangar is going quickly, but they can't finish enough of the house to move in?

Sara's finished office is hideous.   It looks like the clearance section at a going-out-of-business decor and furniture store.     Nothing goes together, nothing is cohesive, it looks awful.

There wasn't an RV closer than Canada?   Just an excuse for a long road trip.    Five people living in a giant RV is not making me feel sympathy for any of them.

Even Bryan is starting to wear on me.

Young couple in West Virginia. They seemed likeable enough. As soon as I saw House #1, I said, that's a double wide! Husband says, well, it is WV. Meaning no disrespect to the fine residents of WV, but you do have a stereotype. House # 3 - it was obvious that's the one they bought. I cracked up at the quick shot of the back porch with an upholstered love seat on it - WV! At the end, it was obvious production had moved that one piece of sectional that was part of what was already in the living room. I hope they are enjoying their new home.

Have to wonder what the foreclosure rate is in WV with first time home buyers being able to purchase homes without a down payment.  Sounds good, but it could lead to big problems for  naive buyers who haven't the means or clue to how much monthly payments can amount to.

Also thought the couple IMO were somewhat on the immature side:  his having to have his friends over all the time and her wanting separate spaces from him and wanting to look at houses to see how people decorate them. Not my way of starting off a marriage.

    Chicago, vintage vs. new.

House 1-single family, 4 bed 3 bath.  $659k,He wants to redo the stacked stone fireplace with a brick exterior, because it doesn't look vintage.  kitchen is nice, House is totally redone, and husband wants to close rooms off. The half bath is right next to the dining table.  second bedroom is tiny.  Main is big, but no ensuite. no handrail on the very steep narrow, twisting stairs.

House 2-$675k, lake view, big porch, 1885 vintage house, 5 bed 3 bath, 2850 sq ft, big lot, extra wide, all fenced in, first full bath has gold tub and sink, Realtor points out that a turnkey house in Logan Square will be over $1 million, nice kitchen already, but of course wife wants to rip it out.   Hardwoods everywhere, 4 bedrooms on second floor and a full bathroom, no ensuite.   It's a huge house, but not turnkey enough for the wife.

House 3-$680k, Mostly brick bungalow, 5 bed 4 bath, 4295 sq ft, now wife is whining about the color of the hardwood floors and trim.    1 bath and 1 bedroom on the first floor, she hates the perfectly usable kitchen, with new windows and roof everywhere, Just reface the kitchen cabinets and drawers, and then redo the counters and back splash.    They don't want the paver patio all over the back yard, and a koi pond,.   2 bed and 2 baths on the second floor, with a huge primary bedroom, primary bathroom tub with jets needs to be ripped out and redo the primary bath.

    They buy #2 , I would have bought #2.

Ravenswood, WV, he wants a fix and flip, she wants long term.  They're 23 and 24.  Ben and Allie.    They both live with parents before they get married.   They're using a first time home buyer program with zero down payment.  He's a special assistant at the state treasurer's office, and she's a second grade teacher.  3 bed, 2 bath.  SOrry, if you can't buy except with zero down payment, then how can you afford a house payment, and everything with it. $170k budget.

House 1-Ravenswood, 2 bed 1 bath, turnkey, 50 min. commute for him, $159900, flat yard, lots of parking, detached, huge garage, kitchen is nice.   smaller dining room, looks like a modular, or started with a trailer.     sunporch is OK, primary bedroom has a huge closet,   It was a 3 bedroom, and 1 bedroom became part of main bedroom, ensuite is 1/2 bath.  (I wouldn't touch this house, it's a mobile home).

House 2-Ripley, 40 minutes from his work, 25 minutes from her work, turnkey, $179,900, dead end street, 1980 sq ft, mid entry (bi-level_, kitchen is bigger, nice yard, fully fenced, but on a hill.   2 bull baths, 1-half bath, main bedroom is huge, ensuite only has a shower, guest bedrooms are nice size.  Nice finished basement.  The projects she want aren't necessary, or

House 3-Millwood,  commute for him, 15 min commute for her,  ranch $150k, 1266 sq ft, 3 bed, 1.5 bath, some paneling, big yard and flat, no fence, kitchen will be redone, guest bath is blue tile, 2 guest bedrooms, main bedroom is decent size, and a pink half bath.  decent closet.   realtor suggests cutting the entry coat closet, and putting the main bath shower in there.

They buy # 3, I would have bought #2.  I think they'll find that the renos they want to do will cost a lot more than they think.

Just looked up the house that the Chicago couple bought.  Thinking they must have used a drone to get a lake view from their house.  Not that close at all.

I was LOL at the Chicago couple and their house #2. Glad they saved a few bucks, because they'll spend their budget and more. That kitchen will be totally redone (have to agree with her, how many different tiles were there??) and she gave side eye to everything with plumbing.

Looked like the Rogers Park area, north end of the city, near the lake. The realtor was right, they couldn't touch a place like that in Logan Square.

Found the female house buyer's voice really annoying, especially with all her complaining.
