The other women resent that Lu still behaves as if she is superior to them and everyone else on the planet. Despite her humiliating past two years, she still seems to think that she is superior and her needs are more important than theirs.

But they all behave like the bolded.  Tinsley is least obvious about it.  Dorinda is less obvious when she’s dry.  Ramona, Sonja — dictionary illustrations of the words entitled and smug, interchangeably. Bethenny — The “-est” of everything. Lu’s no outlier.

QFT. OTOH there wouldn’t be much of a show without some conflict. I think that’s why I’m losing interest. The formula has soured.

  3. Oh man — on the subject of addiction (Lu’s thread seemed as good as any to post about it), read Kristen Johnson’s addiction memoir “GUTS” today.  Cover to cover. Her description of the addict’s thought processes and habits had me open-mouthed a couple of times, so closely did they track with what we’ve observed & discussed w/regard to Lu, Sawn & Doris. (Apologies if this is old news. The book is from ‘12 and the first of the genre [celebrity addiction / recovery] that I’ve read. But it was so spot-on!)

I think part of Bethenny's rage against Luann is that she feels guilty about Dennis' death.  She was focused on helping to save Luann while Dennis was running out of time.  She may feel that if she hadn't been so focused on Luann, she may have noticed something that could have helped save Dennis.  There may have been a little "I helped save Luann but why couldn't I have saved Dennis instead?"

If, as I suspect, her aid to Luann was producer-driven, will she see eventually that it was Bravo who turned her away from Dennis in favor of Luann? Will she go all B-52 Bomber on Andy’s ass? She doesn’t even like Luann. She had love for Dennis. It’s all so Weird.

I learned long ago that every one has a lesson for me. Thanks to @Yours Truly for this phrase because for all the ways I do NOT want to copy Luann deCrackerjacks, I DO plan to keep this as a mantra when useful.  (Sadly, I still have  a few such people in my life as to make it useful.)

I thought Carole went after Lu in London because one faux royal recognized another and didn’t want any extra stank on her. And when Lu repetitivelyr exclaimed to Carole that she just couldn’t believe they hadn’t run into each other during their married days in London, Carole saw a real threat to her “princess” mystique.  “You don’t know Mimsy & Borogrove? Darling, are you sure you were even there??!!”

I also recall Carole (I’m pretty sure) getting very Annoyed that Lu stride to the head of the pack during walks, etc., and that seemed entirely improbable. Any journalist knows the importance of getting there first. Point being, Lu remains and Carole's ... still got more money than me.  But yeah, Lu has a lesson or 2 to teach.

I think Beth has disliked Luann for years.

She can put it aside and play nice when it suits her purposes, but she just barely tolerates her.

I also believe that she did all those things for Lu both to keep score and to feed her messiah complex.

I keep wondering about the mechanics of B’s L-saving episode(s).

B has a business, a daughter, court dates and a life’s general responsibilities.  At what point did she decide to patrol L’s house? How did she know about the near-disaster on the water?  Did just happen to see her or be there during the negligee episode?

Why would she use her (?) influence (??) to persuade police to go lightly on L?

Here’s what makes sense to me: Bravo &/or Andy have snoops watching Luann.  B may or may not be in on this. But at some point B is either told, or chooses, to insert herself into the situation. Thus she witnesses the dangerous and insane behaviors, stalking (it is a form of stalking, IMO) her in the driveway, etc.

Then, B’s explosion at the restaurant becomes a planned plot device to further the storyline of whether or not L is actually recovering. It leaves Bravo in control of where the show will go, especially given L’s erratic behavior.

Bravo (et.al.) are well aware that L is still using and is determined to stay ahead of the situation: yet another reason to tape the reunion very early.

And what this all means is that this is way too gloomy and Truman Show-esque to keep my attention much longer. The Stanley Cup last night reminded me of an idiot who said - years ago - that ice hockey was only fun for polite white people to watch because it let us watch fistfights.  (A-hole.)

But his stupid statement occurred to me as I read your descriptions of the HWs’ actions after listening to their (really very boring) prattle. Maybe Bravo thinks we viewers don’t have enough insanity and conflict and meanness in our lives, and so we’ll watch viciously warring women to get our fill of misery.

Nope.  I, too, think I’ll let the show go after this season.  If it eventually loses Bethenny, I eventually might come back. But things have gotten murkier and meaner since she got back and it’s just not any fun any more.

She didn’t even care that they were running late to the AA meeting. Sonja was by the door waiting. I believe her words were something like “No judgement”. She clearly does not see anyone or anything else isimportant unless it benefits her. She’s a pompous asshole.

Ohh, that triggered a memory! A friend’s SO had a grown son who was obviously unhinged - in other times he would’ve been institutionalized for his behavior.  I think my friend said the young man had been diagnosed as a sociopath.

One afternoon he and his dad were at a grocery and the son began shouting racist insults and threats at a grocery clerk whose checkout line wasn’t moving fast enough for him. Police arrived and as they were escorting him out the store, he screamed at his beleaguered father, “Not a WORD out of you! Do you hear?! Don’t start! Don’t you judge me!”

The similarities to Lu’s “No judgment” turn my stomach.

Me, I would move earth & heaven to avoid any interaction with Lu.

Well, she generated a metric tonne of animosity towards Jules Wainstein in their first meeting because of Jules’ habit of playing with her hair.  Why? Because it reminded Bethenny of her own  mom’s habit of playing with her  hair.

I love atoms, but she was too sweet for these barracudas.  She couldn’t be mean if she tried.  Maybe Bravo could spin her off with some single debutants in N.Y., like Sex and the City.  That I would watch.  Carrie all over again.  What say you Bravo?  (Up there I meant “I love Tins”). Freakin auto correct.

Hope this is the right discussion for the following:

If Tins and Barb go, the show will be same old, same old, for me.  I started watching again out of curiosity and for all Barb’s non-sophistication and Tins’ semi-adolescence, they bring freshness to the weary OG. I’m a couple years older than Ramona and as time goes by, a contemporary whose claim to fame is bratting, “WHATever!” as witty repartee to any gotcha moment - She’s just not interesting to me.

     Sonja - repetitious

    Lu - annoying

    Beth - exhausting

    Doris - tolerable

But all in all, not worth my time

Add a politics-adjacent wife like the one mentioned? Does nothing for me.  But I am the most casual of fans, so what do I know? Just had to speak my so-called mind

I think Ramona is gold to reality tv editors (even if the gold is often covered in a ball of dung ; )

Put her in any scene, and she'll do SOMETHING camera-worthy.  Even last week (during the Sonja meltdown at the table) there she was  - mostly in the background, not talking much - but she seemed to be plowing through her food like a 1900s farm labourer before heading out to the back forty.  In a cocktail gown. WTF? Who knows. It's Crazy Eyes world, and nobody else lives in it but her, her evil twin, the talking pool noodles and lipstick-kissed photos of Mario.

Ah! Well, that makes sense. Rude & remorseless & camera-worthy is more interesting than polite. Ask any actor — more fun to play a villain than a hero, or so I have read.

Heard this in a commencement address: “Ego is the anesthetic for the pain of stupidity.”

Immediately thought of our favorite egomaniacs!

Whose Hail Mary is going to save Barbara?

I don't think Tinsley has a single savior-style gene in her body.

What will Ramona and Dorinda do to stay relevant?

I’m not a super fan, but TBH IMO Ramona’s only storyline is being rude and remorseless, and that has been enough to keep an apple in her mitt from S1.

Dorinda has all kinds of potential. Bluestone redecorating, 12-step programs or not, sponsorship of (unfortunate) charity organizations .....

  13. With bows to @Otherkate and @hoodooznoodooz, I was impressed that at age 60 (plus?), Ramona was reflecting on the origin of her lack-of-filter, as well as acknowledging that it’s often not a desirable thing.

Watched the last several minutes of Tins & Dale thud morning & had to FF.  Too raw. Heart breaking.  I feel sincerely sad for T and would prefer the show stay with lighter topics. Do hope for T’s eventual epiphany and rebuilding, though.

Luann, you are not allergic to alcohol. To have the gall to say (in a previous episode) that people with food allergies have it easier than her because SHE is ALCOHOLIC, and then explain things away like you are “allergic” to alcohol?   Ugh

The original Alcoholics Anonymous Big Book describes alcoholism as an allergy. It explains that while people without the allergy can drink socially without ill effect, the alcoholic person reacts  badly to any alcohol consumption — because of the allergy.

It actually makes as much sense as any other explanation, to me. I wondered if Lu actually attended meetings and listened.

  15. Bethenny is so boring.  Whining about her overbooked life — try driving YOURSELF thru traffic along with everything else, and then I won’t FF thru your stupid packages.

    Oh wait, I still will.

And then shoving her post-facial mug at her employee. Stop it, already! You let your daily regimen go, a responsible esthetician is gonna do extractions! Or do you have a VSE as a celebrity guest in Dr. Pimplepopper’s show? (Please say “no.”)

    Tiresome.

I want to send Dale on a 6-months tour of the lesser Antilles, immediately get Tinsley into a good therapist and also to a top-notch image consultant. She needed to do lots more as the celebrity ringmaster and she could’ve if she’d had some consistent support.

She needs to identify a cause or an institution and become its patron and celebrity board member. Hobbling along as a pleasant but beleaguered woman-child on this silly show has redeemed her from the sad situation that her time with Nico put her in, but she needs more substance.

She has a lot to offer. Her mother needs to get out of the way.

Lu: did I see beaucoup empty seats in one of the photos taken from the stage as she boasted of her tour?  And why would an intimate cabaret act book in a venue seating hundreds?

I figured the Crocs on Nurse Sawnya’s feet hid some pretty disgusting toe-talons.  Hee!

The person behind the success of Skinnygirl is David Kanbar, a liquor industry veteran.  He partnered up with Beth.  The sale of the brand had a multi million 'potential' but Beam records show that there was no where near that sum was payed out.  After the sale, Skinnygirl liquor brand went down as other companies went into RTD.

What is RTD? (Thank you in advance!)

While barrel-shaped Barbara with the unfortunate large face is rough around the edges, I gotta love a gal who's built a multi-million dollar business in the toughest of worlds, in the toughest of cities.  Construction, in NYC, run by a female.  And apparently a good one, at that.

See, I’d love if the show had more Barbara-types on! Women who actually are active in NYC, secure enough to have themselves associated with a show about insanity.

Tinsley, to the manor born AND with a scandalous past, is a true NYC’er and in demand for things like the circus. Barbara gets stuff built.

Lu, though she’s really drearily repetitious most of the time, thinks she’s in  recovery and is the sideshow element in a good cabaret production.

Dorinda: rags to riches to fuguratively rags on the arm of a vaunted dry cleaner to the rich — while apparently remaining filthy rich, herself. Possibly mildly interesting for the places she goes

Sonja? Morbidly interesting as the rags to riches to rags delusional older lady.

Ramona? Just butter, mean, snide, smug.

Show needs more women who are vital in NY, not just bickering amongst themselves.

All that said, I still watch the backgrounds in all the scenes. Glimpses of a life that I, forever in the flyover, can only imagine.

Ramona can go suck Mario's toes for all I care.  She's abhorrent.  And so is he, so I wouldn't care if she fell back in love, moved him back in, and he cheated on her all over again, which I'm sure he would.  Crazy eyes is one thing, but deliberate put-downs, lying, and believing she's above others earns her a spot on a therapist's couch, not ditching her friend for a "better" table.

Ding! We have a winner, IMHO anyway. Carole isn’t an interviewer but as a producer she knows how to get sound bites & quotes. Even if she didn’t egg Babs on, I’ll bet she alerted production, quicker’n scat.

Barbara knew she was an asshole and didn't want it to air. Allegedly there is a secondary phone conversation between Carole and Barbara where she dished more tea on Luann.
