Thanks, everyone who expressed condolences about my cousin. It was a long time ago, and it's mostly scabbed over, but I was left with deeply angry feelings about the whole issue of driving drunk.

On a cheerier note, you all have displayed such restraint in not using the word "pupsicle" even once in this whole thread.  Kadooz for that!

And I'm not making light of Tinsley's loss in any way. The only thing worse than seeing the person at the animal hospital with the dying dog is being that person, which I've been too many times.  Or vice versa.  Unless you're Bethenny and stand around watching your dog seize for an hour without getting in the car and racing to the vet but choose instead to do some kind of Anna Magnani impersonation on social media.  I don't live in that universe, thank God. But I can absolutely envision myself doing what Tinsley did, panicking and dialing 911.  So no shade from me.

Poor Anna Magnani, to be lumped in w Beth. (Kidding - I know nothing about Ms. Magnani, but will google her ASAP.)

Heres the salient comment: you can tell a lot about a person by the way they treat animals. Beth chose to make Dying Cookie a SM event.

Look, I’m not a people-magnet, but even I have a few close friends I would call in hysteria, “what should I do?!”

I think Bethenny has a few friends she could’ve relied on, or at least Cookie’s veterinarians!

She chose to use her dog’s final agonies as a “look at me!” festival. Appalling woman.

I just started watching this yesterday --I have a real love of good hard working guys and I love how every member of the crew is a full character on this show.

My idea of heaven has always been to live out in the woods near a lake or creek--not sure I'm up to some of the more rustic builds they do but a few of the places are really beautiful and I would love to live there (I know it's probably not viable in the dead of winter, but I can dream!

Also, all of them have truly stellar heads of hair---Ryan's hair seems to have a life of it's own.   Sometimes I wonder how he even gets it to stand out like that!.

Welcome to fandom! I love the show too.

There you have it.  Example:  Dorinda has John.  Not famous or rich enough, but someone to talk to, have dinner, go to events, have sex her and there, etc., UNTIL she finds someone else like Richard.  She keeps him at arms length and still has someone when she’s lonely.  Nice set up, and he goes along with it.

Well Of course! Thank you!! I always wondered why she kept him & Hannah apart. No use getting her daughter - even as an older teen - used to somebody who’s basically a temp.

    Dor, you user.

With all the ... connections ... John has, Do had best tone down the open contempt she shows about him. Just sayin’.  The fury of a man scorned can match a womsn’s, anyway. JMHO.

I was having a nostalgic moment, remembering the early days when the ho wives wrote Bravo blogs after each episode and viewers could comment. I haven’t been there in ages, so I went for a quick visit. Maybe its me, but I’d rather read you guys.  We should write the ho wife’s blogs for them.

    Only if they pay us!

    Dorinda? If so, I concur.

John is very obviously head over heels for her and she treats him like he is convenient. Or an embarrassment.

It's clear that she is still mourning Richard. John will never measure up to him in her eyes and he knows it. But he'll stay as long as she allows it. It seems really unfair.

I could be clouded by the fact that I like John. He seems like a decent enough guy. The type that you meet once and if he runs into you in a restaurant, he still remembers your name and buys you a drink.

Remember the special he thought he was hosting on an inside look at Madame Whatever, his family’s upscale dry cleaning operation? About 45 seconds in, Dorinda appears, poking her makeup-caked face between a couple of couture gowns. John seemed  genuinely shocked by her upstaging behavior, but he rolled with it.

I distinctly recall wishing D wasn’t there, because it would’ve been a lot more entertaining show without her and her attempts at cuteness.

And yep, he’s still with her and he even got a little giddy at B’s whores party when D told him that she’d identified him as her husband to discourage a guy who was flirting. I hope they don’t marry.  I agree: He deserves somebody who loves him for him.

i liked D at first — now, she’s as low as Ramona in my opinion.

Because they're gatekeepers. That's been a very big issue in Tinsley's life and on this show. When she was with Topper and the queen of New York. Her family didn't have enough money. Their money wasn't old enough. Her family money wasn't the right kind of money. They called her dad a jumped up carpet salesman who dabbled in real estate. And Dale...(gasp)...went to public school. The folks who tend to do the most gatekeeping are heifers like the NY housewives who married into wealth.

I don't think people really questioned if the family really had money when George, Tinsley's dad, married his second wife who was a doctor and only 10 years younger than Dale. There definitely was a period where George was a little out of control after separating from the 2nd wife. During that period, he was with some 20 year old that he openly called an escort. George was drinking and partying like a fucking fool. Dale stepped in and took control of the family finances and put George on an allowance. And so I think because everyone knew all of this, they question how much money her family truly has.

However, gatekeeping has always been a huge part of this franchise from the beginning. Luann, Jill, and Ramona have talked endlessly about "our kind," "our social circle," "our set," and "the right kind of people." And it never gets better. Sonja joins and can't stop talking about these issues. Dorinda joins and we never hear the end of it in regards to beloved erudite Richard and gross blue collar John, even though John went to private schools as a kid and John has engineering and business degrees from Villanova and is the only one of these folks, other than Tinsley, who has ever been invited to the Met Ball. And because they've so bought into this narrative of what wealth looks like, what kinds of businesses are "acceptable," and what someone's hustle might be, they make assumptions based on nothing. Maybe Tinsley is using Rent the Runway, still has some connections with designers and stylists, or maybe she has more money than these dumb bitches speculate.

Enlightening and I love, with all my heart, thst you’ve  clued me in to this!

Luann was certainly not from money and neither was Dor.  Jill is before my time, but just generally I can’t imagine REAL “old money” being impressed with a retail fabric king (RIP, Bobby, also before my time but word on the street is that he was a mensch).

Also, I’ve seem photos of Slim  John. He was a cutie (granted, my taste runs to swarthy Mediterranean types).

When I was a kid in old school Italian Brooklyn the Funeral Homes offered a special service. You could hire a bunch of old Italian grandmothers in black dresses to come to your funeral and wail and cry and scream with grief. My aunt used to do it. Made a nice piece of change. It was often the connected guys who sprung for it because they wanted a big show.

If only they did that now. Tinsley would have a big future in the wailing business. That girl has talent.  Just saying.

Dang, forget Tinsley, *I* could do this!  I even speak a little Italian!

Thanks.  I feel better.  Guess I won’t persue Harry Dubin. Lol.    Talking about Harry, Sonja would have to move to a far away state where she’s not known.  Who in this City would marry her knowing she’s been around with practically everyone?  She’s looking for rich?  She’s lucky to get anyone with her reputation.  Luann too.  It doesn’t look too good for either of them.

And this, young women, is an object lesson in “God bless the child that’s got their own.”  Possibly Lu can still straighten out her finances and be self-supporting. Sonja? Highly unlikely.

As far as men not wanting a woman who’s been very sexually active, Imma go out on a limb here and say that Sonja’s behavior with Morgan and with her divorce money is a way bigger turnoff for any UES old guys looking for a wife.

Sonja clearly lacked common sense in not returning to her Daddy Warbucks — er, her soulmate beloved on his sickbed.  But she showed absolute stupidity in how she handled her alimony afterward.

The rich stay rich in large part because they are careful with their assets. Sonja is the opposite. I say that’s a huge problem in her snagging another wealthy spouse. Way more than her sexual history.

Luann? Haven’t given it much thought. Sonja’s liability is far easier to see. YMMV.

I don't understand why this is reduced to an issue of whether someone can or cannot be alone.  Maybe she just found a man she loves and is acting on that desire, not fear of being alone.  Not all actions arise out of fear.  Do you honestly think that's the only reason people marry? I'm married, and I like my solitude better than just about anything.

I’ve always felt / observed that the happier the marriage, the quicker the widow/er wants to re-hitch, because their time with  the departed was ... happy.

(I personally am the survivor of a sh|t marriage and happy to be on my own. Lonely at times, sure, but in no mood to even think about being attached again.  Mileages and reasons vary extensively.  JMHO & experience.)

I don't see how the other women are too blame for Lu not being there when the massages started.  I know that production plans some of these wrinkles to create drama, but were the other women supposed to wait for Lu?  The masseuses were there and Lu was not.

Landlubber here, but isn't a swim in the ocean supposed to be relaxing, all on its own? Seems like a person who’s just enjoyed a dip in the salty waters could forego a massage without a lot of bellyaching.

    Oh, wait...

What is crazy to me is how well RAMONA handled the cray cray dinner breakdown scene - somehow managing to both validate and stay calm with BOTH Bethenny and Luann. She was empathizing and feeling compassion for Bethenny's pain. And then when Bethenny is flipping out hyperventilating, she's calmly telling Luann just to not say anything and that that this is all built up with Bethenny, and just let her get it out, and keeping Luann calm too! It always amazes me - she somehow finds these social graces and human moments at the most insane times. She has these times where you can tell she actually "hears" someone. And then three seconds later she's taunting and literally doing a "I look great for my age and you look old for your age" DANCE to Tinsley. The Ramonacoaster at work. I've never seen anything like it!

Luann... you keep waiting for that moment where she's going to hear what the other person is saying or how they were hurt.... or at least hear it from their perspective, even if she doesn't agree with it. And... it just doesn't register. She always has an immediate response that's all about her or how she was hurt too. She goes RIGHT to that instead of saying, "I hear you, I see you, I hear that you were hurt..." She doesn't even go through the motions of pretending to hear what they are saying. It just doesn't even sink it. I've never seen anything quite like that either! I can see why she drives the others crazy. I think that attitude and pattern makes them more crazy than whatever she did that irritated them. And she... just doesn't see it.

Dang, you just described my ex- to a T.

I don't think Luann really wants friends. She wants an audience and an echo chamber. Like Sonja said in one of the episodes, "We're not your fans, we're your friends." I don't know if Luann really knows the difference.

Bingo, I think. She strikes me as the kind of person whose mind is wired such that if she has her needs well-met (a rich guy or her own $), she’s on to whatever will get her some adoring attention.

    2 hours ago, tranquilidade said:

This doesn't make her a bad person, just a mentally sick person.   She can't get well going to AA meetings.  This will curb her drinking on and off but the real issue is her mental state which prevents her from having healthy relationships with other people.  No one can have a friendship or bond with a person like this.  Eventually every relationship will suffer and she will be alone drifting from one person to another repeating the same cycle.

See, to me - who loves having a few people who KNOW me and GET me - this would be a soul-crushing way of life; for Lu, it’s air and water!  All she needs to support her fabulousness!  She needs close friends far less than she needs attention, adulation, wealth & luxury.

And so long as she doesn’t hurt anyone in the process.... I don’t see why she shouldn’t so live.
