I think if she'd followed up her "if I'm being truthful, yes Sutton does make it about herself sometimes" with "in fact everyone of us here also makes it about themselves sometimes" I'd have been totally fine with it.
They all turn things around to make it about themselves. So the accusation flung at Sutton and the way they have used it to beat up on her about it? It's pot meet kettle. Garcelle leaving it at just Sutton was not shady necessarily, but it wasn't really kind. Again, not because it's not true of Sutton, but because it's true of all of them and thus not worthy of singling out Sutton.

This is what I've been thinking. Many separating/divorcing/whatever couples go through back and forths about what they're doing. It's frequently not a straight line. And Ashley has explained a couple times now that they're buying the house together because she couldn't afford what she wants on her own. Is that what I would do? I doubt it. But if it's what they want to do? Up to them. Being wishy-washy about what your current marital status is when you're going through the possibility of a breakup? Not weird at all.
A family member of mine just had her husband, completely out of the blue and after 30 years of marriage, tell her that he wants a divorce. She finds out he's seeing someone, has been seeing someone. She's heartbroken and angry and beyond confused, and swings wildly between "I'm divorcing him right now" and "maybe he'll get this mid-life crisis out of the way and come back" and many points in between. And she doesn't have minor children to consider.
Ashley and Michael's divorce has been a long-time coming, we've all seen that. But even so, it's not odd for Ashley to have a range of feelings about it.

I was surprised as well. But what surprised me more was, as dirty as he's been in dealing behind Devon and Lily's backs, he topped himself when he refused to say who he was conspiring with.
He "can't reveal the CEO's name" because he wants to protect their privacy? Or what? And he continued to refuse when Devon mentioned Tucker and asked if it was him. Nate knows Devon has a complicated relationship with Tucker but couldn't even say, 'no, not Tucker'?
The viewers know that Tucker is maneuvering behind the scenes, but Nate doesn't. He does know that it is not Tucker who he's been dealing with. So for him to refuse to set Devon's mind at ease on that front after all that he's done to betray them? Kind of makes him irredeemable to my mind.
And wouldn't you think that given all that's been going on with this IPO offer, Jill and company would just pull the whole deal? They were only pursuing it in the first place because of Nate's pushing. So just pull it and no one can take over the company.

And isn't this exactly why she got so mad at Sutton (one of the many non-reasons)? Sutton dared to bring up her own miscarriages and was thus taking away from Diana's pain in some way?

What I'm really appreciating about the show is how the small moments work to fully develop the characters. Ava could just be a cartoon bad principal/manager and while it seemed at first, to Gregory and the viewers, that she was just slacking off by not disciplining the kids. It becomes clear, in her talk with Gregory, that she does know what she's doing. In sending a 7-year-old to her office, the walk there alone is going to be punishment enough if any is even needed, and that perhaps punishment isn't the way to go with a kid Micah's age.
Quinta and her writers are doing such a good job at making these well-rounded people and not just caricatures.

You have it - when she was arguing about whether something was a death threat or not, that was about the legal threat text she sent to Garcelle directly.
I'm trying to decide where on the intelligence scale she is. On the one hand she's definitely very calculating and plotting things out to harass Garcelle. On the other hand she does dumb things (like send that text) and I think that perhaps it's not shrewdness, it's just cold sociopathy backed up by massive amounts of money.
Either way, hater her.
And speaking of questionable intelligence vs raging sociopathy, exhibits Kyle and Rinna. Both could have achieved their ends, support their friends, take down the people they wanted to take down if they would just stop talking. They always go too far, are convinced of their invincible positions on the show, and by doing so make themselves the villains.
I do believe that Kathy** said horrendous things when she was on her drunken rant, I do believe that likely some of it was racist. I also believe that Crystal deliberately encouraged the idea that Sutton said something specifically darkly racist. (and I also believe that Sutton likely did say some racist things).
All of that is true to my mind. And Kyle and Rinna could have let those things play out and let the women shoot themselves in the foot. Instead they went after them and went after them so that any point they were trying to make is lost.
I don't say any of this as defense of Kyle and Rinna - who are indefensible at this point - but more as my view of how everyone is playing the game of being on a reality show.
**Re: Kathy - I don't like her. I think her daffy behavior is all put on and she's in actuality a cold, calculating woman who has the power she does for a reason. I think she knew she'd taken it too far with the rant in Aspen and was going to play contrite at the next event (Crystal's party?) and then Rinna handed her gold by going in so hard on her. Suddenly Kathy is off the hook and it's all about bully Rinna. And thus I'll add, though I don't like her, I can admire her game play.

I agree. When Kyle brought it up to the guest she looked like she didn’t have a clue what he was talking about. And I also found it pretty unlikely that someone has a cleanliness fetish and yet her belongings were literally scattered across the floor. That doesn’t jive for me.
All of this makes Kyle’s throwing Natalya under the bus even worse. The guest wasn’t even aware no cleaning had happened until Kyle brought it up and then blamed Nat.
Natalya does get a bit bossy, but I can sympathize. I too tend to take charge when there is a vacuum of decision making. Natasha’s avoidance tactics means there’s a gap in leadership and Natalya is stepping in. Not the correct thing to do in terms of the hierarchy but I get why.

Agree that this was a bit too frantic and Todd annoying, you all have said what I thought. I did laugh when they said that the woman accusing the mayor was represented by Alicia Florick. Wonder if someone in the writer’s room worked on The Good Wife or if that was just because they’re both CBS.

I did just see an AITA post from a woman who is in her 60s. She's been separated from her jerk-ish (maybe abusive) husband for like 25 years. They never divorced because religion (if I remember correctly). But literally haven't been together for a quarter century. She had recently begun dating a nice guy, but didn't tell her adult children (who have to be in late 30s to early 40s), until she and new boyfriend decided they were going to move in together. Adult children threw fits and have cut her off for "cheating" on their father - who has had girlfriends in the intervening years.
All that to say - though it's repetitive and ridiculous and crazy on the part of Steffy and Thomas (who I hate) - it's not out of the question in terms of how adults can behave about their parents.
