  1. Guidelines for book talk:

    • Please do not discuss the book(s) in the episode threads.  There is a dedicated book talk thread to discuss the book series as well as to compare the book series and the show.
    • There are times where you might like to make a quick book reference in an episode thread (e.g. "this did not happen in the book" or "X, not Y, happened in the book").  These should be spoiler tagged at all times. (Potential exceptions:  Very vague mentions like "this was translated well or I liked this better than in the book" but no specifics unless book version and TV version are exactly the same. )
    • Posts that have large chunks of book talk (more than 2-3 sentences), even spoiler tagged, will be removed, not moved.  If you'd like to make a longer post or engage in a longer comparison involving the book, use the Book Talk thread.

If you have any questions, you can post them here or PM me, the forum mod.

  2. Reminder:

No spoilers. If something happened after the show was filmed it belongs in a character thread or media thread. There is also a thread for WWHL appearances.

Stay on topic.  If you want to discuss in detail any personal experiences or travel plans to SC, please do so in the Small Talk thread.

Adam seemed like a good egg and I hope he gets another chance on a future season.

Agreed. I'm guessing he was let go more for being a good egg - and thus less dramatic potential in terms of messy hookups - then for the mistakes he made. He talked about wanting to make money for his family and did not seem super interested in random sex with co-workers. And to production - that isn't good.

New guy Luka looks more ready to play from the jump and I foresee a triangle to come with Jaime, Culver and Luka. Could be wrong. Luka hooks up with Margot or no one, but where's the story in that?

The funniest part of this season for me is that it looks like Todd worked harder on his "film" than Sheree did on, well, anything.

I had watched the trailer before last night and though the movie looks pretty busy and not quite sure what it wants to be, I will say. it didn't look embarrassingly bad. Given how this season of RHOA made it look like Todd was filming a home movie, the visuals in the trailer are pretty professional looking and again, not embarrassing. And it's going to air on Peacock. So good for you Todd.

I think in the long run, the more Todd can call his own (though I know Kandi's a producer on the movie as well), the more likely their marriage will be to survive.

Other than that? Not much about last night interested me. I know Bravo is trying to hype Drew's marriage falling apart as a scandal akin to Scandoval (filming ended in January but we had to pick back up in March because SCANDAL!). This ain't that. We the viewers have seen that marriage disintegrating since the day they joined the show. So to my mind, there's no there there, in terms of shocking me or creating engaging drama.

Wasn't a Drew fan before this season, not one now. If she is the face of RHOA going forward? Then not particularly interested.

Drew is going to have some feelings about cousin Courtney after her final talking head and hot mic moments. But I'm really not going to love that the reunion is going to be all about Drew. And that they're bringing on Ralph! to try and play victim in the dissolution of his marriage.  Think reunion will be mostly skim-watching for me.

The mandatory wearing of nude for the guests confused me, she was wearing red, Bob was wearing pink and even Martell was in salmon...why nude for the guests?

The direction to the guests about what color to wear was clearly so that Sheree would stand out. Note that the colors for the baby were white, pink, some neutrals, and Bob, Martell and Mecca's parents (I think) were in pinks. But Sheree? She's in RED!

I did love how the other women were all abuzz and then getting onto Bob asking him about the additional daughter.

He didn't want everyone to know that he was naked and the camera crew keeping the door open showed that he got in her bed with a plan. That was not playing around (Laura!) that was SA. Pure and simple. He can say he doesn't remember, but that's bullshit.

Yes - at that point he was caught and he kept shutting the door to find something to cover himself. Good that the producers weren't having it.

I give all credit to Aesha for not only clocking what was going on, but acting on it to get Margot to bed alone in the first place. But it's a good thing production was on the ball as well. Aesha had left Margot "safely" in bed, so she might not have gone back to re-check on her if she hadn't seen production chase Luke out.

It's kind of terrifying to think; Margot's roommate was Laura and clearly Laura would have not had qualm one if she'd come in to find Luke in bed with a passed out Margot - other then to perhaps pout because it wasn't her. I have no doubt at all that Laura would have seen Luke there with an unconscious Margot and simply have gone to bed or left the room.

I'm of the opinion that the Captain was probably told some of Laura's behavior towards Adam, by production, before Aesha brought it to his attention. At that point production would know how bad it would look to have got rid of Luke but let Laura skate.

And much as I am giving production credit for intervening in this case, they're now bringing Joao back? One step forward, two steps back.

I swear to God if Shannon is sooo dumb to watch this season back and still try to blame Heather for whatever rumor about her relationship was brought up then she deserves all the bad things that happen to her to keep Tamra a friend

She was on WWHL after the ep (with Vicki 🤮) and was still blaming Heather. She made a point (sounding defensive of her stance, to my mind) of saying that Heather was the one who talked about it off camera and on. We haven't seen that at all. We've seen the others re-bringing it up on camera as something Heather told them. Even there though, it's mostly vague things. And we saw Tamra trying to deliberately trap Heather into saying something on camera.

On WWHL when it was Tamra and Emily, Emily said that they all were talking about Shannon's relationship and knew something was wrong there. Tamra tried to shut her down when Emily started to say it wasn't just Heather.

I wasn't going to watch this season, because Tamra, then everyone was saying it was a good one, so I caved. Now I'm back to thinking I'm going to stop watching. And if Vicki comes back too? Out for good.

I have to applaud Gina for putting aside her personal hurt/betrayal to support her ex-husband because she knows that his success & happiness significantly impacts their children. That's often a very hard thing to do.

I agree it's good they're getting along since they are co-parenting. Makes sense to lessen the financial impact on the kids. But I'm thinking there might also be financial impact on Gina herself that she's trying to ease.

If her ex is now unemployed or under-employed, it's possible that she's having to pay him child support as she may be making more money than him at the moment. I have no idea what their divorce decree says, but if there is child support being paid, it would likely be going from Gina to him as she's making HW money.

It is all impactful on the kids regardless, so it's good they're making an effort. I'm just cynical enough to think there might be other more 'centered on Gina herself' reasons.

It boggles my mind why Shannon would want to be friends with Tamra after some of the things Tamra has done to her.  It started in Shannon's first season when Tamra was creating conflict between Shannon and Heather and playing both against each other.  And then Tamra was as much a part of Shannon's gaslighting as Heather was.  Why in the world does Shannon trust Tamra to be a good friend?  She'll get burned again soon enough.  I guess Shannon is desperate to keep her orange.

And Tamra, yeah, you were really subtle about bringing up Shannon's and John's relationship, weren't you?  We all knew that wasn't going to be the case the second you told Emily you were going to broach the subject with Shannon at your lunch.

Truly Shannon should not be on this show. Tamra, with Vicki's help, leads Shannon into a conversation about how her relationship is going with Heather. Then oh so innocently asks if Shannon ever confides in Heather. Then when Shannon says, yes, she's told Heather some things, all Tamra does is give her a smirk and now Shannon is freaking out that Heather revealed all to Tamra and Tamra may say it on tv and her relationship will be ruined.

Tamra was truly evil there (and I'll admit, smart). But come on Shannon, you've been on this show how long and you're going to let her play you like that? If Heather told Tamra things Shannon confided in her, that's wrong of Heather. But clearly Heather didn't do so on camera. It's also possible that Heather has barely said anything to Tamra and Tamra is just letting Shannon believe she did.

Either way Tamra is using the threat of something coming out on camera to freak out Shannon. And she's doing it solely to drive a wedge between Shannon and Heather.

I guess I'm alone in being okay with Chance and Sharon.  Having bonded over their connection to Rey, they make more sense to me than Chance and Abby did.  And SC has reliable chemistry with just about anyone she's paired with, the exception being Inanimate Object MacAvoy.

I'm on board for Chance and Sharon too. She is older, but in terms of values, character, kindness-levels, etc. they are are a good match. Chance doesn't seem interested in being a parent, so doesn't matter that she's not likely to have another kid. I say "not likely" as this is a soap and anything is possible, but odds are...And if it keeps them from putting Chance with Summer? All aboard.

I don't mind the Chance/Sharon pairing.  Sharon has been shat upon so many times that the actress deserves some opportunity for some hot action.  Added to the supposition that Josh Morrow went to the headwriter to beg for a storyline with the hot younger woman, why can't any of the actresses request the same?

And this for sure! If Nick can keep being paired with aged down partners - I am sure Josh M. has insisted in being portrayed as one of the still hot young studs (blech) - then Sharon can too.  So if Sharon Case can finally get a story out of this that doesn't involve her offering coffee and advice to residents as they pass through the cafe? I'm all for it.

Why would Erin not think to have a nice charcuterie board along with her caviar and pringles? C'mon now. Up your hosting game, you're dealing with bitches here.

That felt a bit like machinations to me to stir up drama.  Either Erin's or the producers. But along the lines of "these bougie b's complained about cheese last time so I'll give them caviar!"

  17. It's funny, as Jessel was talking about how she and her husband got together I thought it sounded like a rom com novel, something Emily Henry might write. They were friends and then became roommates and lo, they realize they love each other and end up with their HEA.

But given the year (2 years?) without sex and the IVF way of getting pregnant? I'm wondering if the rom com is more a marriage of convenience (though not so much with a HEA). Or a marriage of settling - like there weren't any other options around, so they decided why not? Could definitely see that there would be pressure, on Jessel especially, to be getting married.

Haven't seen quite enough of the other marriages yet, but I'm guessing Jessel's may be the first casualty of this new HW group.

Something interesting COULD have been done with these dark themes. Clearly, they were more interested in being edgy and building up to the plot twist of “she was evil the whole time mwahaha!”

I agree that there is a kernel of a story here - probably lost when they got rid of the woman director with her "female perspective" and replaced her with Sam Levinson whose sole goal seemed to be keeping LRD as skimpily dressed as possible and replacing dialogue with porn-y singing/dance numbers.

side note: I find it very difficult to believe that any woman would choose to spend any more time than absolutely necessary in the skintight, strangling, minimal costumes they have her in. To shoot a video? Sure. Photoshoot? Sure. But for hanging out in her own house? There you'd be going for comfort. And going to her manager's office? Okay, you can make an argument for dressing as a "star" for a business meeting. But given that paparazzi would be following her everywhere I am more convinced that she'd dress down to escape as much notice as possible. All of it just seemed so much more of this being done for the male gaze.

There was a story to be told about who is/are the real predators in her life. Who's the real villain in the business of "Jocelyn". Is it all those managers/agents/etc who profit from her, or the cult guy who's entered her life, or she herself? But the serious lack of dialogue, character development that followed any logical progression, or just any story-beat that lasted more than an episode just made it this monstrous mess.
