  1. Lucy not being "all there" might not too far off. Last season she was traumatized and it manifested in a lot of rage. That wouldn't just go away, but it seems she's channeled it in a different way now. I am not convinced she doesn't believe Margaret deep down, which is in some ways more concerning. There's still two episodes left though, so maybe she'll come to her senses. My guess is the Marquess and Lady Fitz's parents were alive when they were teens and they sent her away to Lydia's(yeah a pretty strange choice but maybe daddy was a patron there) the rapist of Blayne was probably away travelling or at school. The parents must've died years ago now though or else I think Isabella may have been married, I can't see her brother arranging a marriage for her because then he'd lose his control over her. I didn't see Margaret confessing to the murder, but it really does make sense she'd do it. Fallon didn't see that sort of self sacrifice coming. It's an honest conclusion for Margaret, along with her making amends with Charlotte and regretting her past actions.
  2. Yes, it was implied last season there were more members of the Spartans - Fallon was the only one last season's "justice guy" knew of. Harlot's as a show tends to surprise me - so I can't say how I think Lucy and Fallon's relationship will go. I got the impression last season he liked the idea of a corrupting Lucy with all his metaphors of Hades and Persephone. I can't see Lucy killing Fallon though - I just can't see her getting away with that twice. I'm not sure about Charlotte not being Margaret's, what motivation would a rather ambitious, relatively self serving bawd have to take in a child that wasn't hers? When Margaret and Nancy escaped Quigley's, taking a child who wasn't either of theirs seems a pretty burdensome thing to do. We know Charlotte was born under Quigley's roof, and it seems Lucy wasn't(as it hasn't been mentioned and Quigley's shown no interest in Lucy, but plenty in Charlotte) maybe Margaret associated Charlotte with Quigley, and perhaps she had less time to bond with Charlotte in comparison to Lucy. I don't think Lennox was either Lucy or Charlotte's father, I'd have thought if they were Margaret might've tried to use that in her favour when trying to get him to invest in her house. Unless any man was paying to see Margaret exclusively at the time of the girl's conceptions - I don't think she could know who their fathers were. Even if she had an idea, my guess is their attitudes would've been similar to Fanny's constable - who told her she couldn't know he was Mercy's father, and it's true.
  3. So I have a question. I haven't read the books, but I thought I read that the Rosina character from season 2 married Demelza's brother in the books? When I read that I assumed that was why they introduced her last season - as she wasn't very important to the series. Is the Morwenna character replacing her(perhaps she too is a book character, I'm not sure). I just wonder if anyone could clear this up for me?
  4. Lucy never annoyed me - I'm pretty tolerant of characters though. I just agree that the writing was a bit off for her. I agree that the first few episodes were the strongest. I enjoyed episode 8 though, they did wrap things up and set up stories for the next season. I am glad they did because Margaret almost lost everything and Lucy and Charlotte both seemed like they weren't going to last much longer in the family business. Which would have been odd as girls like Lucy and Charlotte hardly had better option(as was discussed in previous episode threads). Charlotte now has an end goal - which is really something she needed,as her hedonistic harlot lifestyle was clearly not working for her anymore. Lucy pretty much had to come to some sort of place where she could find some control in her life. Even just being able to say out loud what she felt was a big stepping stone. An innocent faced dominatrix thing could work for her.
  5. I don't really know how Harriet can be faulted for what she did. I don't even have children. but I imagine I'd do the same thing as she did if I had to. Maybe she burnt bridges with Margaret, but I'm not sure that would be enough of a reason to allow her children to be shipped across the Atlantic. Like others have said as well. it's not like Margaret hasn't put them all into a very precarious position. Of course, it's a very real possibility that Regency Joffrey(I know it's not the Regency period but Georgian Joffrey didn't sound very good) won't give her the children for any amount of money. Everyone's in a mess, and I'm not sure how it's all going to play out. It was interesting Quigly wanted Charlotte off the hook - I wonder what it is she actually wants from Margaret at this point?
  6. I agree, nodorothyparker that Lucy seemed strangely unprepared for sex work despite growing up in a brothel. I can appreciate fear and uncertainty, but I would have thought Lucy would have been made to practice conversation techniques. Lucy wasn't like the other girls who had no recourse and chose prostitution after leaving home. She was raised to be a courtesan. I did really feel for Lucy when the Repton's were encouraging her to be witty, and then she went too far due to inexperience. I imagine being a sex worker/escort type during this era is in many respects similar to the role of court jester - they were supposed to tease their masters, it was part of their job. Obviously there's a fine line though, and it can be difficult to know where it is. Though insulting their "manhood" would be a pretty obvious no go area.
