  1. So here are my thoughts after watching this episode:

    1. What backyard breeder did Matt get his dog from because reputable breeders make you sign a contract that requires you to fix your puppy and shelters usually have either fixed the animals themselves or require you do so within a certain amount of time after adoption.  So the fact that he hasn't neutered his dog yet (and what is his reason for this?) make me think he got him from some janky backyard breeder, which makes me side eye Matt even more than I already was.

    2. I fear Alexa may have PCOS or a thyroid issue because she seems to have gained a lot of weight in the past year and if she and Brennen have been having unprotected sex for a year and aren't pregnant, that could be a sign that there's a problem.

    3. Nancy is a fool.

    4. Did all the women (except for Alexa) decide to lighten their hair together?  Why are they all blonde or blonde highlighted all of a sudden?  And honestly, save for Raven, it's not the best look on most of them.

    On to episode 2!

    1. He didn't grow up with Pete, they only met a few years ago.

    B. People growing up to be nothing like their parents is about as common as people growing to be exactly like their parents IMO

I didn't say it's unbelievable that he didn't turn out like his parents.  What's unbelievable to me is that he wouldn't be a little more street smart or jaded.  I personally find his character a little too happy go lucky for someone whose own mother has stolen from him numerous times.

  3. I just don't find it believable at all that Nolan is so "golly gee shucks" good when both his parents were ne'er-do-wells.  Like, I can believe Tim having a crappy background that he had to overcome because while he's overall a good person, he still has some edge to him.  Nolan acts like he was raised in a middle class suburb with white picket fences, not as if he had an absentee father, scam artist mother and Pete Davidson brother.

  4. I never understand people getting upset about Marie Kondo.  Her book/method is for people who have trouble keeping organized and own more stuff that they can handle.  The "sparks joy" thing is to help you get rid of stuff that you don't need or like but that you've kept around for whatever reason (ie, it was expensive, it was a gift, you haven't owned it that long, etc).  You're not supposed to get rid of stuff just to get rid of stuff (looking at you, Sunny).  And if that method doesn't appeal to you, then don't do it!  It's a method for tidying up, it's not that deep.

They couldn’t ARSE themselves to mention Cindy Williams’s passing? Laverne & Shirley  was also an ABC  show!

This show is weirdly choosy when it comes to whose death they do or do not mention.  Recently they ignored the deaths of both Lisa Marie Presley and Kirstie Alley, which I also found strange.  At this point I guess we shouldn't be surprised when they don't mention someone passing but for some reason, I always am.

He was married to Jennifer Lopez the longest: 10 years. The other two both under 4 years.

Honestly, I feel like the only reason that marriage lasted so long is because J. Lo cannot be alone (she should read the book that today's guest wrote), so she stayed in it way longer than anyone with higher self-esteem would have.

EDIT:  Huh.  Just got to the part of the interview where they said that the relationship book author officiated Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck's wedding.  Not sure what to think about that.

  7. Well, I guess we all know which book will be at the top of Sunny's summer reading picks...

I don't care who you are, using someone else's wedding to announce your big news is just tacky.  My brother's wedding was schedule for right around the time we were planning on announcing my third pregnancy, so I called him a month before and asked if he'd be fine with my husband and I announcing it to the extended family the day after the wedding because I didn't want to steal his thunder like an a-hole.  He was fine with that plan, and then covid hit like a week later, cancelling both his wedding and our in person announcement.

  8. Am I the only one who was disturbed by the story Joy told today about her family today?  Her father hits her for getting the wrong soda so her mother tries to push him out a window?  There is so much trauma in that sentence, I don't even know where to begin.  Poor Joy!

  9. I get that Whoopi is disappointed that Till didn't get any nominations (though the only category it was being talked about in was Best Actress, so she shouldn't be that surprised) but it was so sour grapes that they didn't even discuss the Oscar nominees.  This was an amazing year in movies and the first time in a long time that I can remember the Oscars having a list of Best Pictures nominees that was so interesting and diverse (blockbusters, indies, foreign films, bio pics, etc) and the fact that they basically just skipped over it (to go over whatever new nonsense Trump is up to, no less), is just ridiculous.

  10. I adore the name Clover.  Couldn't use it as husband didn't care for it (though I feel that if one of our daughters had been born around St. Patrick's Day, I could have convinced him), so I'm happy to see it get some real world use.  I like Jade too, though paired with Clover, the name's a bit...green.  Still, it's better than some of the nonsense names celebrities give their kids these days so yay for that and congrats to Megan.

So the woman Shakira's husband cheated with ate Shakira's strawberry jam.  That means he brought her to the house he shared with Shakira. He deserves everything that happens to him.

This bothered me the entire segment.  He's not her husband.  They were never married.  From everything I've read over the years, he wanted to get married but she didn't.  So, he shouldn't have cheated but it's not like she was giving him full commitment either.  Also, they have two kids together and it was pretty irresponsible of the panel not to acknowledge that and how all this "revenge" Shakira is getting is ultimately just going to hurt them.

Maybe something from the National Anthem or America the Beautiful.  Dawn?  Star?  Amber?  Majesty?

Or maybe she got it all out of her system and she'll name it something normal.  I really liked Sage for Liberty's middle name.  Too bad she didn't use it for the first name.

I actually like the name Liberty, it just seemed too on the nose for Megan.

My guess for baby #2 is Dove.  Seems like it'd be Megan's style and it pairs well with Liberty/Libby.  Of course, now that I've written that, watch her go totally off script and name the baby something along the lines of Kayla.

Why is the Scorpio astrological sign (Aaron's sign) considered a deal breaker when seeking a romantic partner?

I believe they're supposed to be very intense and hot-tempered.  I had a friend in high school who was a Scorpio and whenever she got in a mood or was over the top about something, she'd claim it was because she was a Scorpio.

I hate when couples are written so poorly.  Why have Angela and Iceman (can't remember the character's name right now so I'm going with his X-Men character...who might actually have been played by his twin brother. , now that I think about it.  Never sure with those two) never discussed how many kids they want or how far apart they'd like the spacing?  And what was with the awkward declaration that Chen made about how she wasn't planning on sleeping with Bradford right away?  I mean, we're most of us assuming that they weren't just going to jump into bed together?  Don't know why they had to write dialogue about that.

Overall, I just found this episode boring and started doing housework in the middle of it.

  14. I thought the tribute was nice but Lisa Ling (who I love) commenting on how they were all like Barbara Walters' children because she never had any, then Whoopi and Joy having to correct her after the commercial break, was peak awkward tv.

Just started watching the Chippendales Murders doc. So far most of what they've shown between Steve and Nick has been true. The big difference is that the real Irene wasn't involved in the business. She was a stay at home mom and never even went to the club. And it doesn't appear that Denise actually existed either. But Murray Bartlett bears a striking resemblance to the real Nick, so great casting there.

No Denise?  Then who invented the rip away pants????????

In all seriousness, I can see why they invented Denise and changed the level of Irene's involvement.  They needed people for Steve and Nick to talk/vent to and without them, it'd just be Steve and Nick yelling at each other the entire time.

  16. Not sure how much of this series is actually factual (have the A&E docuseries about it queued up for after I finish) and how much is Hollywood embellishment but if the real people were even half as bad as the characters on screen, man, were Steve and Nick a$$holes!  They had such a good business idea but are both so egotistical and petty that they get in their own way and just pick at each other for no reason.

I continue to enjoy the show as easy casual entertainment, but I kind of feel like we're nearing the end of stories to tell. I don't know that there's much more to build on in the oldest Dwayne era, that's all pretty well documented at this point. Middle Dwayne is running up against eldest Dwayne's story from the first season, and young Dewey's stories turn more on his folks, which don't have as much story with post-WWF Rocky.

Hoping for a strong finish and wrapping up the show with this season

During the first season, I felt like young Dewey's storyline focused on family, middle Dewey's was about his romantic relationships and eldest Dewey on his career.  I wish they'd stuck with that format instead of doing what they did in season 2.  It's kinda weird that his wife came out of nowhere last season and I wish they'd introduced her in elder Dewey's storyline but then used middle Dewey to show them dating in college.  It would have been a good way to keep the storylines for each version of Dewey focused and would have helped them to not overlap with each other.

  18. Bringing Sylvester back to life just so that he'd be conscious when they cut his head open was insanely cruel.  That was a dark opening.  Also, I found Grandma Icicle's switch from "Oh no, my husband's going to die of a heart attack!" to "I'll kill my husband if he doesn't do what I want" very abrupt.  I feel they could have just had Grandpa Ice begging her to stop fighting and her yelling that she won't right before accidentally killing herself and it would have been more effective.

Given the sudden cancellation, I think the episode was decent.  I wish the show had been able to go for at least five seasons but at least we got the three that we did.

I didn't get that either, I guess I'm more like Joy and Sunny. I mean, it would be over if someone I was with was "in love with" someone else, too, of course, but at least I think I could part amicably depending on the scenario. Sex, on the other hand, is an action and you can control your actions more than feelings. At least, I know emotions sometimes happen unexpectedly or uncontrollably.

I disagree. I think Sunny was right that this story spotlights the uneven salaries between women and men in the same career. I don't think someone needs to be poor to "deserve" being paid equal to their male counterparts.

Let's be real.  The WNBA doesn't pull in anywhere near the amount the NBA does.  From what I could find online, the WNBA makes about $60 million a year, whereas the NBA makes about $7.5 billion.  If the WNBA was selling tickets, merch, etc like the NBA, then you could make a case for equal pay but when one brings in 125 times more revenue, they're not going to pay the same.  In a perfect world scenario, yes, there'd be as much interest in female athletics as there is in male but for the majority of sports, that's just not the case.

  20. So I've been binging the last few episodes (the news of the cancellation made me too sad to watch it for awhile) and I figured Sylvester was really the Ultra-Humanite once he mentioned that the Ultra-Humanite had switched bodies a few times.  I saw no point in mentioning that unless it was going to come in to play.  Wasn't sure who was in the Ultra-Humanite body though.  Initially I thought it was Sylvester and that the two had been brain-swapped while the Dragon King was still alive.  Didn't guess that it was actually the Dragon King himself in there.

This is my favorite show right now and I'm bummed that it's been cancelled!  I was watching The Rookie the other day and thought, "How has this ridiculous show made it five seasons and Stargirl only got three?"

Add me to the list of people who hasn't seen any of those either.  I've seen plenty of movies and shows that other people probably haven't seen.  In my circles it would be just as weird to say you haven't seen the Best Man Holiday or Living Single as it is for some to hear Sunny hasn't watched Love Actually or the Office.  Or why some people don't understand why multiple guests on the View gush about Whoopi and her contributions to the world of entertainment.   We all have our bubbles that influence what media we consume.

Off topic but do you ever watch the show Home Economics?  Kim Coles was on last week.  She played the mother of one of the main characters and it weirded me out that she was old enough to play a grandmother.  Anyway, I've also seen both Best Man Holiday and Living Single.  Used to love Living Single back in the day (my favorite character was Maxine) and I liked Best Man Holiday (though I didn't think it was as good as The Best Man).

She didn't see The Holiday either (which was mentioned in the discussion of Christmas movies), but she mentioned that she liked The Best Man Holiday - it was an aside in the discussion, but no one responded to it. I haven't seen this movie, but the synopsis sounds like a plot similar to Sunny's book, or some of Elin Hilderbrand's books - with old friends getting back together and their various life issues affecting the group.

You'd really have to watch The Best Man for the Best Man Holiday to make any sense.  As unnecessary sequels go, it was decent.  Instead of making a third film, they're doing a limited series that's releasing on Peacock later this month.

I didn't care for the Holiday.  I liked all the actors in it but wasn't a fan of any of the characters they played (And I'm beginning to feel that I watch too many movies/shows, since I've seen every one that's been discussed in this thread recently.  In my defense, the majority of them came out when I was in high school or my twenties, when I had a lot of time to watch stuff).

About The Office - No, Michael Scott was not an "Archie Bunker" type character. Bunker was a bigot and unwilling to learn tolerance and treat other people with respect. The humor was in how "normal" people reacted to Archie and how Archie rationalized his perspectives. Michael Scott was a clueless guy, who thought he was smarter than he was, and said insulting things because he had no idea of what other people's feelings were. Michael Scott was the personification of the Dunning–Kruger effect. Michael's attempts to show how smart and progressive he was sometimes resulted in him saying or doing things that offended or insulted the workers, who had to put up with him, because he was the boss.

How is it possible that no one on that panel has watched The Office?  You'd think at the very least they would have binged it during the pandemic.  And yes, Michael Scott was not an Archie Bunker character.  He was usually well intentioned but ignorant and clueless, desperately wanted to be liked and had delusions of being a comedian.  He's almost the opposite of Archie Bunker, really.

And I'm curious as to what Sunny actually watches, since she hasn't seen Blazing Saddles, The Office or Love Actually.  I mean, I didn't care for Blazing Saddles or Love Actually and only liked the first few seasons of The Office, but I've seen all of them.

  23. Sunny really needs to stop talking about her kids' personal lives on the show.  They're way too old for that (Though I too would be side-eyeing somebody that much older trying to date my kid.  I just wouldn't talk about it on tv).

Sarah is aware that she can send Christmas cards without a picture, right?  Or do a photo card with pics you've taken throughout the year, instead of having a professional photo done.  It's very easy to do a simple Christmas card without making it into a big, stressful production (which reminds me, I still need to send out ours.  They're just sitting on the mantle right now, waiting to be addressed and mailed).

I mean, I like Whoopi but I highly doubt anyone is going to make a film about her after she dies.  Speaking of which, did they even mention that Kirstie Alley died?
