  1. Okay.  I'm just gonna say it, harsh as it sounds.

I felt no pity for what Nicole did to Chloe.  Given that Chloe's lies are what set all of this in motion in the first place, I am not gonna give her any sympathy at all.  Nicole deserves her daughter.  Chloe knows that.  She knows that everything she's done is wrong.  She knows it.  Yet she kept on going.  So whatever becomes of her as a result of this storyline, I say bring it on.

  2. This was just . . . a weird episode to me.

Erica hates Evy, yet she gives Geoff up for her sake?  Seriously!  Evy has been a rampant bitch to her for months now!  She shouldn't care about how hurt she is!  I can understand how Geoff feels terrible since he's never been on the receiving end of her bitchy behavior till tonight's episode, but still . . . Erica shouldn't have.

I've always been annoyed by Johnny, the Rush-loving kid (finally learned his name!), but Carla (yep, I now know the name of Erica and Lainey's crazy friend, too) is starting to annoy me, too.  So they freely admit that they like bagging on people to feel better about themselves?  Starting to think they absolutely deserve each other.

Always nice to see Uncle Marvin.  Though the whole time they were at his apartment, I was saying, "Uh . . . you guys do know he's only tricking you into doing his housework, right?"  I'm not surprised that Barry couldn't see it, but Adam also didn't?  Really?

RLS!  RLS!  This time, she was seen with Murray, and she was actually used in the scene, as well!  Always great to see that adorable little ball of fluff!

Let's hope that this is finally the end of the feud with the other Adam Goldberg.  But I have a question to everyone here.  Has he ever been seen before tonight?

Not sure where to ask this, but do the other coaches take their artists on tour? If I were competing, I'd choose Blake, simply because he seems to tour every summer and takes people from his team along. I don't think Adam, Alicia, or Gwen tour as frequently (but I could be wrong).

Pharrell took his entire season eight team who made the Lives (Sawyer Fredericks, Koryn Hawthorne, Mia Z, Caitlin Caporale, and Lowell Oakley) on tour with him, as did Christina with her season eight team who made the top twelve (India Carney, Kimberly Nichole, and Rob Taylor).  Allegedly, Adam took Matt McAndrew and Chris Jamison with him on one of his Maroon 5 tours, as well.  But that's all I can think of.

I want to say he left Saturday Night Live sometime in the early 2000s and I really don't think he has been doing much of anything since.  He's like Vanilla Ice, known pretty much for just one or two things and now thrust back into the public eye even though nobody really was clamoring for him.

Well, here's a third.  He was also Mr. Feather, the top flunky of The Man in Undercover Brother.  But since that movie didn't get much press, it's easy to forget that.

  5. I normally like Emery, but he deserved every bit of shock and humiliation he got at the end.  Seriously.  Sabotaging his own father just because he wanted the part?  That's just mean.

OTOH, making an initially-calm person nervous by reminding him or her how many people will be watching is a trope that's been used since at least Bugs Bunny once did it to Daffy Duck (though I think Bugs did it by accident and didn't mean to make Daffy nearly pass out by telling him that, or at least didn't expect him to).  Still, Louis didn't deserve the embarrassment.  Emery certainly did, though.

I did like Jessica and Eddie's storyline, though.  I was totally with Eddie on using the dishwasher since it made no sense not to use one.  Though I also got Jessica on not wanting the dishes ruined by it.  I thought it'd turn out that Evan used it, though.  Instead, he just ate the papaya Jessica liked to eat, while Eddie did use the dishwasher.  (I should've known that Eddie was innocent of the papaya fiasco due to the very long pause between him and Jessica when she looked accusingly at him.)

    Funny episode.

Adam and the other Adam Goldberg have a karate match to settle once and for all a long-running feud.  Erica and Geoff's relationship goes public.

Seriously?  More stuff about the other Adam?  Let's hope this finally puts that noise to an end.

  7. From TV Guide:

The blind auditions continue as vocalists perform for coaches Alicia Keys, Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, and Gwen Stefani, in hopes of a chance of a chance to win the title of "The Voice."

  8. I kinda agree that tonight was a bit underwhelming, talent-wise, save for a couple of them.  But nonetheless, I still had a wonderful time watching.  I guess that'll be a UO, but regardless, I enjoyed tonight.

Also, no montages!  Good form, show!  Keep this up on Thursday, maybe?

    Okay.  The performances:

Autumn Turner: Very few people can take a Donna Summer song and do it as well as she did.  Well done.  Certainly worth the four-chair turn.  And I was as blown away as the coaches (especially Alicia!) when she hit that whistle tone at the end!  There's no question Alicia was probably the best bet for her, though I think Gwen's pitch would've convinced me to pick her, as well.

Jesse Larson: I did find it a bit criminal that he didn't get at least one more turn.  But given that he ended up having his sole chair turn be Adam, I'm not too worried.  He can have him.  His voice was excellent, but one-chair-turns never win, so I'm immediately counting him out.  Won't be surprised at all if he turns out to be easy fodder for Adam's team.

Aliyah Moulden: The performance was decent.  Nothing too good, but nothing too terrible, either.  As a three-chair-turn, I don't see Blake being too willing to get rid of her in the Battles, but I can see her age catching up with her in the Knockouts.

Savannah Leighton: Beautiful voice, but I can see why she only managed a two-chair turn.  A solid pop voice, but not one that's at expert levels yet.  Still, she seems like she has a sweet, rich tone that'll serve her well.  Let's see if Gwen does right by her, though.

Nick Townsend: I agreed with Alicia that while his voice was good, it was a bit too Broadway-like.  But I think if he returns, he could be a star.  He just needs some fine-tuning with his voice and perhaps a better song choice.

Lilli Passero: Definitely a good way to end the night.  She had a truly vintage sound that definitely had me feeling her the whole way through.  I was actually shocked that Adam was too picky and such a holdout when it came to her, since he likes vintage songs.  But as for her coach choice, I think she was about to pick Gwen until Alicia did her on-the-spot serenade.  After that, I agreed with Adam's tweet.  Gwen and Blake had no chance.  Alicia had her.

I have to say, Alicia's killing it, just as Blake said.  Her only artists thus far have been three- and four-chair-turns.  Gwen, whose pitches have indeed gotten so much better this season, has one four-chair-turn and two two-chair-turns.  Blake has a two-chair-turn and two three-chair-turns.  And Adam probably has the weakest team thus far with the sole (thus far) one-chair-turn and two two-chair-turns.  Still highly satisfying to see the men with no four-chair-turns yet.

At this point, Chloe deserves whatever she gets by the time this story ends.

I think it is mostly Adam who is bringing the Gwen/Blake thing up to tease them and not Gwen and Blake trying to get attention from it themselves.

I dont mind it either way but I do hope Blake will not hesitate to fight dirty with Gwen when pitching to contestants. His hilarious comebacks and insults make 60% of the blinds for me. Especially when the talent hasn't been that exciting so far...

Blake did fight her pretty hard for Lauren Duski and won, so I don't think he's against it, and he also put up a fight for Stephanie Rice, and that one was definitely just between him and Gwen.

If that's what she thought, I don't think she would have left.  I don't for a minute believe that's what she thought.  She had to have known Negan would be out for her blood, not Dwight's or Dr. Carson's.  That is why she left.  She had absolutely zero way of knowing that Dwight would frame Dr. Carson.

And made herself one of his whores just so her husband would be one?  Nope. Don't believe that, either.  It was made more than clear that she did that to keep him from facing his full wrath.

    No, let me.

I do.  We've only seen a little bit of Sherry, but I like her and care about her.  In a post-apocalyptic world, she seems to be one of the very few people to maintain her compassion and humanity.  That alone makes me care about her and actually want to see her get out of her situation.  And it looks like she has.

I don't know if she'll just travel alone for a long while or end up at one of the communities (Alexandria, Hilltop, Kingdom, Oceanside, Junkyard, or some new, heretofore-unseen community), but I do hope to see her again soon.

So yeah.  Someone cares.  I do.

Listening to first singer. Ugh and shut up Gwen. Why did he choose her?

"Shut up?"  I think she hit on all the right things to get him to choose her.  While Adam, Blake, and, surprisingly, Alicia were talking to JChosen about winning the show with and for them, Gwen focused on the heart and talked about what music meant to him and what inspired both of them.  I think that struck a chord with him.

Also, as I said above, I suspect that he figured that he'd stand out more on Gwen's team, while he'd get lost in the shuffle on Adam's team or Alicia's team.

  15. So glad this show is back!  Some great talent already, and we've just hit the first night!

Joshua "JChosen" Hunter: As @PhD-Purgatory15 said, a solid, solid R&B artist.  I loved the coaches' reactions to him.  Really loved Alicia trying to "hide" from her emotions behind Gwen's chair.  I think his choice of Gwen could either be really smart (as I think being on Adam or Alicia's team would cause him to be lost in the shuffle among other R&B or pop artists, whereas he could stand out quite noticeably on Gwen's) or really stupid if she decides to nurture a younger boy like in season seven (when she screwed over several of her more talented artists who could actually have gotten her a win just to keep Ryan Sill around) and season nine (see the previous thought, only substitute "Ryan Sill" with "Braiden Sunshine").  Also, this note about him from @PhD-Purgatory15:

    On ‎2‎/‎27‎/‎2017 at 9:42 PM, PhD-Purgatory15 said:

He might have made a brilliant decision picking Gwen (or he might get Braiden Sunshine'd lol).

I think the correct term is Lyndsey Elm'd or Ellie Lawrence'd, as Gwen screwed both of them over quite royally in favor of Braiden.  I really hope that Gwen learned a lesson from that this season.  She took a lot of (well-deserved) brunt for both of those debacles online and on social media.

Lauren Duski: One of my favorites tonight.  She sounded just gorgeous.  Just a beautiful, clear, unforced tone.  Very strong vocals and an even stronger performance.  Blake's got a contender with her.

Johnny Hayes: I got him confused with another guy who was gay and came with his fiancé last season.  That guy was more interesting than this guy.  While his voice was good, there was literally nothing else interesting about him.  Adam can have him.  He'll either be easy fodder for the pre-taped episodes or easy fodder for the live rounds, unless he really gets a fan following going.

Skyler Harris: Felt bad for her, because she really had a great voice.  Given her church influence, you'd think Alicia would've easily eaten it up.  You could see it on her face right when she put her face in her hands that she really wanted to turn.  I thought Skyler sounded great and should've gotten at least one chair to turn around.  I hope she does return another time.

Anatalia Villaranda: Ah, so we've got an Asian artist this season!  And one who wasn't montaged!  I thought the performance was very good.  Not great, but at least good.  She kept her focus the whole time, and her vocals were good.  Probably a bit too forceful and too much energy, but I can see why she got a four-chair turn.  I can definitely see.  I was glad she picked Alicia, whom I think will do right by her.  If she remembers to actually hold onto her four-chair turns this time around, of course.  (You'll remember she immediately dumped Dave Moisan in the Battles and Whitney & Shannon in the Knockouts, only holding onto Wé McDonald.)

Stephanie Rice: First of all, any parent who can disown their child in such a heartless manner just for the crime of being whom he or she is, is just an ugly, disgusting person inside and out.  I barely have a relationship with my own mother and father after the former looked right at me and said I was "not right," but could be "made right," and the latter, a six-time stroke victim, faked memory problems from said stroke to avoid dealing with my coming out to him and continued to obsessively hope for me to find some girls.  So Stephanie gets my full sympathy and support here.  As for her audition, I liked it a lot.  It definitely got a bit off course after Gwen and Blake turned around, but for the most part, it still sounded solid and flowing before then.  Blake might've been a good choice for her, but I can see why she picked Gwen.  She really fought for her.  Let's hope that Gwen doesn't screw her over, though, because I think she might have a contender.

Branden Martin: He had a nice, strong voice and a very good, rich tone, but there was the issue of diction (as said above) and enunciation.  Going on both of those, I can see why no one turned.  Still, I think he was strong enough that Blake could've thrown him a bone and turned, anyway.  But this soon after Sundance's win, I think it's probably for the best that someone who looks so much like him not be on the show proper for the time being.

Mark Isaiah: Solid, middling voice in the mid-range and the lower range, but I don't see him doing well in his upper range.  While his audition was all right, I didn't find him to be anything special or unique.  Probably more easy fodder on Adam's team.

Brennley Brown: I liked her voice.  It was a good performance.  But due to her age and inexperience, I can't see Blake taking her far.  Due to her country preference, he was unquestionably the right choice for her, but if Blake puts her against one of his older artists, she could find herself out of the game very quickly.

Shaun Chrisjohn: Another one I'm surprised didn't get a turn.  Adam and Alicia both looked interested from the moment they heard his voice.  And yet . . . nothing materialized from that.  Not even a turn.  His voice was strong and clear, and yet . . . nothing?  Just don't get that one.

Felicia Temple: I think, for the backstory alone, Alicia's picked up a contender.  The cancer angle is an easy way to win over voters.  Provided Alicia gets her to the Lives, of course.  But as for the performance, it was amazingly strong and on point.  Even though Gwen and Blake turned around, as well, they both knew it was futile, and that Alicia had her.

The coaches all have good chemistry once again, and I was actually quite impressed with Gwen.  She only slipped into talking about the look of an artist once, with Anatalia, but otherwise focused on actual vocals this time, as well as on hitting the right emotional beats with the artists.  It might just be me, but I think she might've read the criticism of her past pitches and worked on a more competitive approach during her time away.  It seems to be working, looking at the two contenders she's gotten so far!  And on top of it all, she actually seems happier and more refreshed!  It's a stark contrast for how "off" she felt in season nine, during which she was dealing with her divorce from Gavin Rossdale.  Since being with Blake, she has been upbeat and more positive!  It's like being with him has done wonders for her.  She is actively having a lot more fun with the other coaches and is just as good-natured in fighting for whom she wants.  Good for you, Gwen!

That said, I do agree that the Gwen/Blake moments are going to be too much, but I have a feeling that a lot of it is producer-prompted.

I rewound and watched Adam's "cricket" moment several times!  His face when he realized he was hearing them?  Priceless!  Even NBC or the producers seem tired of his "same old, same old" pitches!

For a final note, I find it absolutely delicious that the women were the only ones who got the four-chair turns tonight.  Neither man did, which was awesome.:)

Great start!  Hoping for two more good ones tomorrow and Thursday!:)

He definitely didn't deserve to die over that. The show keeps trying to humanize Dwight and have the audience root for him, but then they make him do something awful for no good reason. I'm baffled.

I go back and forth on Dwight.  We get bits and pieces of what his and Sherry's past was like, and I do sympathize with him.  It's clear as day he's in a situation in which he doesn't want to be, and I do feel some pity for him over that.  (Only Simon, Arat, Laura, and the two douchebags who beat up Aaron seem happy to be working for Negan.)  But then, as said above, he says or does something completely terrible, and I'm back to hating him again.  The first time, we learned of his and Sherry's situation, and I sympathized with him right up until his next appearance, when he got very smarmy with Rosita.  Then, I hated him again.  This week, I feel for him after getting another slight look into his past with Sherry.  But then, he sets up Dr. Carson, and I again feel no pity for him.

That said, I do think he only expected Negan to give him the iron, not throw him in the fire.  He looked just as shocked and horrified as Eugene and the wives all did.

I'm only watching the Eric scenes for the time being but I'm curious: exactly how bad was Gabi's crush on Chad back in the day? It seems to be a sticking point for some of you that he would have even entertained her as a potential girlfriend after her past actions. What were they?

Well, it was nothing bad back when Chad and Gabi were played by their respective originators, Casey Deidrick and Gabriela Rodriguez.  Their characters actually dated briefly.  But Chad eventually dumped Gabi to get back with his old girlfriend, Mia (who was played by Taylor Spreitler).  Soon after Gabi was recast with current portrayer Camila Banus, she started dating Will, whom she eventually dumped during his coming out story.

Sometime later, the writers did a hatchet job on her by bringing back her crush on Chad soon after he got with Melanie.  Desperate for his attention, she faked being followed by a stalker and paid a Countess Wilhelmina photographer named Andrew to be that stalker.  Eventually, Andrew grew more and more unhinged and kidnapped Melanie and held her hostage for weeks.  In fact, just shy of a month.  Gabi thought that Melanie had just left town to see Carly in Europe and was pleased that Chad started spending more time with her.  Eventually, though, she found out by accident that Andrew had Melanie and at first demanded he let go, but after Andrew blackmailed her with the knowledge of him being paid by her to stalk her, she relented and let him keep Melanie prisoner.

Eventually, as Andrew started to be found out, this culminated in him moving Melanie to some tunnels beneath Salem, and during this time, flammable, toxic, explosive gases were filling these tunnels at the time.  Chad, Brady, and Gabi pursued Andrew to the tunnels to find Melanie, but while Chad and Brady went on to look for Andrew, they told Gabi to warn someone about the gas.  Instead, Gabi focused on finding Andrew herself, focused more on him keeping the secret of her part in everything.  (Granted, in spite of the brunt she took for that particular action, I doubt that word could've gotten to the rest of Salem in time even if she had listened and gone to warn someone, since the explosion that resulted was only minutes away from happening, anyway.)  Eventually, the tunnels exploded, resulting in the loss of hundreds of lives, including Jack and Madison (Brady's fiancée at the time).

Melanie was finally rescued, but she and Andrew were hurt badly and rushed to the hospital.  Melanie recovered, but Andrew died of his injuries, warning Gabi before his death that he would expose her part in what'd happened.  But he died before he could speak, and Gabi thought she was in the clear . . . until she turned and saw that Chad, who'd come to confront Andrew, had heard the whole thing.  He was about to turn Gabi in for everything, but she was able to explain herself well enough that he at least somewhat understood her actions, even if he didn't condone them at all.  He agreed to keep her secret as long as she stayed away from Melanie.  Also, give up her modeling career that she was enjoying at the time.  If she did neither, he'd tell Melanie first, and then the cops.

Over the next few weeks, Chad treated Gabi like absolute shit (not that she didn't deserve it).  He'd threaten and torment her every time they saw each other, with Chad doing so every time she came into contact with Melanie even when Melanie initiated said contact unexpectedly.  Her only real source of comfort came when Nick Fallon was released on prison on parole, and they started getting close.  But during that time, Chad started getting overly protective and even possessive of Melanie, who was jumping at shadows due to her own past history with Nick (a story for another time, though), and started threatening him instead.  (He even took it a step too far and went down to the prison the day he was paroled and threatened Nick's mother, Jessica!)  Eventually, over a misunderstanding, he beat Nick to a near-pulp and tried to hide it from Melanie (who'd actually mended fences with Nick just minutes before the beating), but Gabi, who'd found Nick and stopped Chad from beating him, took Nick to the hospital and went and told Melanie first about the beat-down, and then admitted to everything with Andrew, anyway.  Chad tried to stop her from doing that, but he failed.  Melanie learned everything and threw Gabi out of her life (until she finally forgave her a few years later in either late 2014 or early 2015), and then realized that Chad had known about that and hadn't told her about it, causing her to break up with him and eventually leave Salem to live with Carly in Europe.  That whole story was one of my least favorites since it pretty much did Gabi a huge disservice and essentially threw her under the bus to prop up Melanie, the writers' pet at the time.  Luckily, enough Melanie haters all over the Web remained in Gabi's corner precisely for that reason.

Everything described above was a bone of contention (to say the least!) between Chad and Gabi until Chad was recast as Billy Flynn.  During the convict crisis last fall, they finally talked it all through and put it behind them.

    That clear things up, @DisneyBoy?

I always look forward to your comment on the performances so what do you think about them?

Well, with the new season starting on Monday, I decided to get them watched.  Finally.  So here they go.

Billy (Cover): I don't know why the fangirls were screaming so much.  It really wasn't all that.  His voice was technically good, as usual, but I think a crooner song should be given to, you know, a crooner.  Not a wannabe pop star transitioning from country.  I disagree heavily with .  It wasn't good.  Just . . . wasn't at all.  Sorry.

Josh (Original): So Josh wrote this original song with Nolan Neal, who was on Adam's team until he was booted at the Knockouts?  Interesting.  Nonetheless, Adam didn't seem that enthusiastic about him or the song at all.  I really do think he wanted Brendan in the finale, not Josh.  As for the performance, I barely paid attention to it.  The concept of the song was okay, but he did nothing overwhelmingly interesting with it, and it was his own song.  Plus, I thought I heard some pitch problems during it.

Wé & Alicia: I didn't know that Wé was a pianist, too.  No wonder she and Alicia bonded so much.  As for the performance, I get that many of you resented everything under the sun about Wé, but I actually didn't hate it.  I actually appreciated them doing a more soulful take on an opera song.  There were some pitch problems on Wé's end, though.  That said, while I was okay with the performance, I wish they'd done something more in Wé's wheelhouse for their duet.

Sundance (Original): I actually really liked this one.  Compared to Josh, who seems so generic and boring as a country artist, Sundance actually kept and held my interest the entire way through.  Big voice, lots of power, and exceptional control.  I can see why he got this far, compared to Josh, who shouldn't have.

Billy & Adam: I think Billy was more relaxed and engaged in this one because he knew this wasn't for the audience's votes.  (I wonder why coach duets aren't for votes while covers and original singles are?)  I have to agree, though.  Billy actually outshined Adam on this one.

Wé (Original): Loved it.  Loved that one of Alicia's own friends wrote it especially for her.  I thought she did an absolute amazing job, again despite what the haters have to say.  Pity it didn't help her win.

Josh & Adam: Honestly, if your coach outshines you this much, you don't deserve to win.  Adam was so much better on this, a song in which Josh should've been the star.  As for the song itself, what the hell was that?  I don't even know why they picked that song.  They should've picked one that was more in Josh's wheelhouse than in Adam's.

Sundance & Blake: I think it was very sweet that they did a song dedicated to Sundance's father, Roy, who was in the business well before he was.  And even though they couldn't get Roy himself to appear, using footage of one of his old performances was a clever touch.  He, of course, did an amazing job, and Blake was smart to let Sundance do most of the performance, even though his parts were nice, as well.

Josh (Cover): I thought he was fine on this, but not wonderful.  Would rather have seen and heard another contestant sing this one.  I suppose it was an okay effort, but right near the end, he again had some pitch issues.  I think he's been the worst of the four when it's come to pitch issues, actually.

Sundance (Cover): Never thought anyone could do a country take on "At Last" and do it well.  Sundance did just that, and I am again reminded why he was the last person standing on Team Blake.  I don't know which of his performances won this for him, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was this one.

Billy (Original): Generic, as always.  Really don't see what the fangirls saw in him throughout this entire season.  I think Adam should've just left it as a Maroon 5 song, because I don't think he'd have sounded half as generic or boring on it as Billy did.

Wé (Cover): Greatly appreciated that she tried to go for something lighthearted and fun.  And yet again, I don't think she was that awful at all.  Not the best, but decent.  But looking at how it charted, once again, I feel like she could've and should've gone for something more in her lane.

I'm just sorry that Miley didn't get Ali or at least Aaron to the end so she could've had something to do other than just sitting in her chair all night.  I would've loved to have seen a duet or an original from one of them.
