  1. Little Omari could give lessons in honesty to his parents, who clearly didn't want to do the right thing. I loved the kind-natured plaintiff, Carla Jones. I wish she lived in my neighborhood!
  2. Katy, the Double-Dipping Dog Lady, may not have liked her job very much and her dog's injury could be the excuse she was looking for to quit and get sympathy. Could anyone tell...was this a condo or townhouse complex? How in the holy heck can someone house FOUR dogs in their condo (even small dogs)? A friend of mine fosters a specific medium-sized breed of dog. He currently has five of them in a large house with a huge backyard, and says that is really too much dog for the space. I will have to say, that little dog was adorable.
  3. Great JJ three-fer repeat today from 2011! The last case was golden! "Entitled Erika" Gephardt, whose "Su dinero, mi dinero" attitude toward her best friend landed her in front of the formidable JJ! Erika received a $2000 loan from her best friend to fix up her home so she could rent it out in order to relocate for her husband's new job in another city. She promised to pay it back when her husband received his signing bonus. Entitled Erika didn't repay her friend because -- "She has only two kids, I have FIVE!" "She drives a BMW!" "She has childcare and weekly housecleaning!" "I can't have a job...my KIDS are my job!" Yada yada yada. After swearing up and down to JJ that the money was given to her, not loaned, Erika's tongue slipped and uttered the "L" word! "Judgment for the plaintiff in the amount of $2000" Giggles all around from the gallery...Entitled Erika threw up her hands. Love this sweeps week!! (edited because: in my excitement, I typed three f's in plaintiff!)
  4. Milz, "Tuwalla" sounds like a boutique organic juice blend sold at Whole Paycheck...I mean Whole Foods! The Goodnight family beverage of choice appears to be Sprite -- followed by rolls, bacon, and a lungful of Granny Battleaxe's Marlboro fumes. Run, Toby, RUN! I hope you can get out of there!!
  5. I did find a notice in the Dallas-Fort Worth newspaper website of one Melissa Lane who died of cancer in 2012 at age 32. The full obit is archived and payment is required to view it, so I'm not sure if this is Toby's mother. http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/dfw/obituary-search.aspx?daterange=99999&firstname=melissa&lastname=lane&countryid=1&stateid=57&affiliateid=321 The whole thing is so very sad. If Judge Judy could help Grandma Becky with this, I would be her #1 fan for life.
  6. Just watched this one, and felt very sad for the daughter and her husband, who seemed like decent, caring people. I was actually sad for the mother, too. Maybe she was never Mother of the Year, but the aneurysms and brain surgery could certainly have accounted for her bizarre giggling and weird behavior in the courtroom. I wondered about the mother's fiancé. On and off for eight years? That means he was around before the mother (Belinda?) fell ill. The cynic in me says that the windfall that occurred when Grandma died had a large part in keeping him around.
  7. The child's name is Toby Goodnight, of Ft. Worth, Texas. I did a little Googling, myself, and found this account of Toby's dad purportedly being assaulted by a dollar store clerk in 2007 while trying to purchase two cans of Sprite. http://deafnetwork.com/wordpress/blog/2007/10/09/check-out-cody-goodnight-website/ There are lots of other online accounts of this incident, and everyone has an opinion (just like everyone has an -- hmm...you know). If you read between the lines, the reason Toby is not in school is that he is busy eating breakfast at diners with Dad and his pals, and drinking Sprite at 9:30 in the morning.
  8. OMG, you guys are killing me! Your snark is better than the cases themselves! I missed most of yesterday's cases due to election coverage; our local station aired the faux spa case at 2:15 this morning and my DVR cut off the other case. I'm not sure in what town the faux spa was located. Where I live (the San Francisco Bay Area), spas and salons set up their shingle on every street corner. I'm not a spa person, but if I wanted one I'd ask a friend for a recommendation, or at the very least, check their Yelp reviews. At first I was unsympathetic toward Ms. Insurances Sales, but that spa owner is clearly a HUSTLA!!
  9. Yikes! I wonder what names Seara gave to her three kids. Not to be mean, but it appears that girls named "Seara" and "Destiny" are far more likely to get into catfights and have multiple babies with multiple baby daddies, than to get an education and make something of themselves. At least, that's how it seems in the JJ universe.
  10. That is the couple I am remembering. And the woman was Latino, but the man was Middle Eastern. Not that it matters, but they were just trying to get the officer in trouble.
  11. Did anyone catch the repeat last night, featuring Mr. Hurd, a Texas college student who was suing a schoolmate for vet bills incurred when he found her Chihuahua puppy in the street and had it immunized and a microchip put in? JJ was correct in ruling that he was wrong to do that before at least trying to find the rightful owner. Mr. Hurd claimed that the vet was going to "euthanize" the puppy, which was total bullcrap. However, the Chihuahua's owner, Ms. Yancy, was getting on my last nerve without even opening her mouth! The "aren't I adorable" facial expressions: Tilting her head and rolling her big eyes at JJ and the plaintiff, even putting her hand under her chin, like a Mary Pickford silent movie! Gag me!
  12. Yes! I can think of two off the top of my head. Both southern California cases. Ms. Jones, of the long bleached-blond hair, whose father was an LAPD police sergeant or captain or something (he and his wife were in court with her) had accused a very calm and well-spoken police officer of "harassment" and there was a demerit on his record. He had the whole exchange on audiotape. It was clear that Ms. Jones was trying to get out the ticket by invoking her father's rank. The officer said he would donate the $5K to a police charity. (I found the closing credits and hallterview on YouTube and tried to embed the link, but couldn't get it to work.) Then there was the obnoxious man and his fiancee who were speeding on their way to brunch and got pulled over. The man (who was an Orange County realtor, I think?) accused the cop of all kinds of misconduct. JJ spanked him good!
  13. Yay! I love all these litigants. I don't remember Einstein's Daddy, though...could someone remind me? There was one case a couple of years ago, featuring a really great young man (around 19 or 20 years old) who was caring for his younger siblings because his irresponsible mother could not, or would not. He even brought JJ to her knees, in a manner of speaking. Does anyone remember this one?
  14. Here is another article: http://www.coopercrier.com/news/love-triangle-at-center-of-ramsaran-trial/article_330dea43-86ed-5c6a-a271-647b92184c94.html It's obvious that Remy is a deplorable human being. But after reading this, I have no sympathy for Eileen, either. She told Andrea Canning that she was doing laundry and caring for the Ramsaran children because Jennifer didn't do it, but said very different things on the witness stand. Liars, both of them.
  15. That's a good observation. I hadn't noticed that the avatar resembled Eileen, but now that you mention it... I thought I picked up a comment by Eileen that Jennifer did know about the affair. I DVRed it and should watch it again to see, but having to look at Remy for another hour...I don't know.
  16. Dang, we didn't get the nurse case today due to pre-emption by the Giants victory parade. We are getting part of a car crash case between a foster dad and daughter named "Evelady". Foster Dad is trying to school JJ on "state law"! Love it!
  17. The second new case today (loan of over $2000 given by father to his daughter's BF, which BF is repaying monthly until GF breaks up w/him) was a bit of a snooze after the saga of Mr. Obi and Big Wheelchair Dude. However, I just love it when defendants accept money from people for things they want but can't afford -- then later, turn around and it's -- "I didn't ASK him for the money!" "His daughter was the middleman, it was HER idea!" "I felt MORALLY obligated while I was shtooping his daughter, but now I'm not getting anything so I'm not LEGALLY obligated." Did anyone notice how the camera kept panning to the daughter/ex-GF to get a reaction, but she sat there stonefaced. Her magnificent eyebrows were the best part of the whole case.
  18. I felt bad for Mr. Obi, too; and was glad that he won his judgment. Big Wheelchair Dude was a piece of work. In the beginning I didn't follow why JJ was mentioning all the relatives who were caregiving for him, and thought she meant Wheelchair Dude's cantankerous personality. Then it became obvious where she was going with her questioning. I couldn't understand, though, how Obi could work all those months with no pay. I certainly couldn't go that long without being paid. SandyToes, we should start a "Litigants We Love" thread! Top of my list would be the guy who owned the pup "Baby Boy"!
  19. Remy certainly had a double standard. He felt justified having a physical affair with his wife's best friend because Jennifer was no longer Suzy Homemaker, but it was wrong for her to have an emotional attachment to a guy in another country she met while playing a game. Hmmm.... I couldn't for the life of me understand Remy's appeal to either Jennifer or Eileen. He's such a smarmy little character. At least Eileen says she now sees the error of her ways.
  20. Word to all this. I don't feel sorry for Danielle. It's a tradeoff. Mohammed gets a green card and a new life in the U.S. if all goes well. Danielle gets attention from a younger man who wouldn't otherwise look at her twice, and Mrs. in front of her name, which she obviously wants. I feel sorry for her children, though. What a mess to drag teenage girls into. And I agree that Mohammed appears to have a higher IQ than Danielle and all of her family added together. In regard to the other comments about Brett and Daya: Those who have mentioned RESPECT have nailed it. Daya doesn't appear to respect Brett, and without that, a relationship won't survive. Like others have said, I have been in relationships with nice, sweet men whom I couldn't respect and I walked all over them. I'm not proud of that, but now that I'm older and wiser I won't put myself into another such situation.
  21. The owners were lucky that chicken guy didn't shoot them. Sheesh! These dog owners were classic. Kind of like the parents who staunchly defend their little snowflakes who can do no wrong. They believe that if they stand there and deny, deny, deny until the cows come home, they won't have to pay restitution. Whenever I hear a litigant say, "(S)he can't PROVE it!" I know they are guilty.
  22. I've learned a bunch about insurance from you, Teebax! :) I work in the dental biz, and patients (otherwise intelligent people) often ask me where they can buy insurance after they've broken a tooth. Like the insurance carriers wouldn't wise up to that one! Most individual dental plans aren't worth the money, and have long waiting periods for major services. They wouldn't stay in business if they paid out before collecting a substantial amount first. Kind of like buying car insurance after the crash.
  23. Aww, shucks, AngelaHunter! <blush> Alethea certainly thought The Sponge was irresistible. I don't get it...she's a very pretty girl with a lovely accent. Ms. Lamb could surely do better for herself. I got the impression that Imogen and Matteo were using their "stage" names and auditioning for some sort of MTV reality series. Louise Chen was ditzy, but strangely believable.
  24. Thanks for posting the clip, Brattinella! Sparkle Glitter Fairy and her co-plaintiffs looked like graduates of the Kardashian Skool of Beauty and Charm. I remember the days when JJ used to routinely give grammar lessons during her cases! Now she doesn't seem to bother with that. Pity....
  25. Brattinella, could you post the link to Sparkle Glitter Fairy? I missed that one, too. :(
