  1. The link was on his son's page, to which I came from her page, and there were a lot of mutual comments to Alex's photos from those two, etc, plus he looks like the man in her pictures who she's been saying is her dad since way before the show (like 2011), and this man in the movie lives near her hometown, and the name is the same. And no, I was also waiting for any mention of the daughter, but there was none, and obviously he's married to another woman. Oh, and he has a picture with Alex's mom as if they are close friends.
  2. I just realized I have no life :) Because I found a documentary about Aleksandra's biological dad, who's Cuban: www.youtube.com/watch?v=_PftGrc02S0 I really should stop stalking 90 DF people :)
  3. Her dad/stepdad doesn't have any mention of her (or other family members) on his social media, her mom has visited her a few times. Interestingly, it appears that Aleksandra has been to the US before coming there to be married. She has pics from spring and fall 2014, but without Josh. Edit: actually, he's there too.
  4. I still don't unserstand why we call Anfisa a hooker, but not Alla and Nikki. Just because they don't say openly that they are in the relationship for financial stability, they still are.
  5. And it wouldn't be a problem at all have they not made such a big deal out of being Mormon, staying abstinent and being holier than thou. Just admit that you are regular people!
  6. So did Alla and Nikki, but we don't call them prostitutes... It's strange how Anfisa's grandmother told her she has gained weight and then immediately said "if I go two days without you calling, I start to worry". It means, they chat regularly, not like she hasn't seen her in a few months, to make the observation about the weight gain.
  7. It looks like Pedro doesn't have a father, and hasn't had for a few years at least (no father in the graduation photo). Maybe he feels he has to assume the "male provider" role in the family.
  8. My effin god. The Ukraine Holocaust was 75 years ago. His ancestors could be living anywhere else at that time. I can't believe this kind of treatment can be given to someone in Israel. I will have to ask my husband (also Jewish) and his friends. I have never heard of this before.
  9. I know, but I was replying to the comment that said that he was not desireable to Israeli born girls. I said that the girls in his circle were from the same background as him, so there shouldn't be any problem for him to find somebody.
  10. And his female friends are not Israleli born, by the way. They all have Russian names.
  11. And this is exactly why American men don't want to marry American women ?
  12. Commenters here have said that in the DR culture adult children are expected to support their parents, but it may also be how that particular family lives. This can happen in any country. For example, since I started making some money at 22, when I was still in Russia, it went without saying that I supported my mom financially, made home renovations, etc., just because this was the way in our family. Whoever makes more, helps out the rest. In other families it could be the other way around or completely different. But if it's engrained in you and this is how you were raised, it's very hard to start thinking differently. It doesn't just take nagging and arguing to persuade Pedro to change this situation. He won't understand. Also, I think the sister does look a lot like Pedro.
  13. MrSmith, exactly I remember, as a child, I was really impressed by a legend that I heard about a Native American chief who came to visit the white people. They decided to play a prank on him and pretended to be eating bread with mustard. They offered it to him, he tried it and it was so nasty he almost cried, but he finished it and put the pranksters to shame by showing how much more dignity he had than them.
  14. I believe you can, it just takes longer. Update: sorry, I'm wrong, you can only sponsor spouses and unmarried children if you are a GCH, but not parents. I don't get one thing though - has anybody asked Artem's opinion at all? Does he even want to move? He's 26 years old, and he still may be living with his parents while going to school, but how do they know he's not counting days till he can move out and live by himself? They are talking about him as if he has no say in the matter. And by the way, I now particularly dislike Loren for the face that she made at the supermarket when they got chicken liver. Not only is it rude, but it's also because chicken liver cooked with fried onions and sour cream is my comfort food. Served with mashed potatoes, a sour pickle and pumpernickel (or rather, Russian equivalent). This is interesting. Can you elaborate? The mom speaks Russian in the "talking head", Alexi speaks Ukrainian to her, and she replies in what I think is a mix. I think she also used Hebrew words with Loren when they were cooking. It's strange that during previous seasons, especially the first one, I thought she spoke pretty good English, too.
  15. She is doing the same thing over and over again and expects a different result.
  16. In today's episode, looks like there's going to be another bit of "disheartening news". I'm willing to bet anything that it's going to be that Alexei's brother won't be able to immigrate to the US for at least another 15 years (see: Alla and her sister)... Because these people just don't research anything.
  17. A "slut" is probably what she meant. In English, it's two different words, but in Russian the word for a promiscuous woman and a prostitute is the same word. Anyway, the point is, she's offended.
  18. His sisters sure look Brazilian to me... Plus, I work with a Portugese guy who is a Jorge pronounced "George". Google it, all the sources say that this ending is of Polish origins. It's absolutely not common among Russians. In Ukraine, it's attributed to the Polish nobility (the "pans" or "Shlyakhtich", i.e. high nobility who used to rule Ukraine). None of Tchaikovsky's relatives were exiled; he was a descendant of nobility who earned their position through military service.
  19. It's not Ukrainian, it's Polish. I think his family is Brazilian, and in that case his name is pronounced "George". That's just my guess.
  20. It does: https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/law-and-policy/bulletin/2017/visa-bulletin-for-october-2016.html The F4 (sibling visas) now being processed are the ones requested in Nov 2003, that's 13 years. Plus the time it takes for Alla to get citizenship (which will be 4-5 years of processing).
  21. Matt was drinking orange juice at the rehearsal dinner - is there a chance he has a problem with alcohol? Cause during the bachelor party you could tell he was pretty buzzed, like drunk almost... I'm curious if he's going to pay for Max's education, his family will probably be against it. I think Alla's sister is married - or did they say she is a single mother too? If she's married and doing well financially, this explains the fact that she got the tourist visa. The only way she can be united with Alla is if they wait for about 15 years to get a relative petition approved (during which time Irina most probably will not be allowed in the US), or if she too marries some one on a K1, or if they are religious (and it seems like they are), there are ways to get in through the Baptist church (that's how lots of Ukrainians come to the US). Interesting thing about Anfisa is that she seems to be who she claims to be - a 20 year old (although a lot of people seem to not believe it). I searched for her name and found it mentioned on the website of Moscow Institute of Linguistics. There's an article about a professor from Spain who was meeting with the students and Anfisa was among a few he said spoke Spanish very well. I may be wrong, but I think her family situation may be something like this: a mother who runs some kind of business, father is not present (or only helps financially), the daughter is raised mostly by the grandma, and the mom feels so guilty about being busy all the time that she gives her daughter anything she wants including plastic surgery.
