  1. The Sam Adams Summer Ale "Hello Summer" ad is annoying. "Hellooooooooooo Ssssssssssssssssssssummer" . She sounds like she's auditioning for one of those late night phone sex hotline commercials.
  2. It's not Grimes singing -- it's a song recorded in 1982 by Daniel Johnston, so Grimes wasn't even alive yet. Grimes just appears as an actress in the commercial with the long black hair sitting on the floor with her laptop. And yes, the song is terribly annoying because of the voice and cheesy pathos.
  3. https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/229038/baked-hawaiian-sandwiches/ or alternatively https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/15018/mini-ham-and-cheese-rolls/ They're pretty damn good.
  4. Been watching a lot of NCAA March Madness this month and I don't think I've ever been saturated with a commercial quite like they're doing with the Samsung Galaxy S9 with the song that goes "WAHHHHHHHHAHGGHAHH Here's an invitation to the whole wide world" and has a bunch of annoying people making annoying faces. It's becoming pure rage fuel at this point because it's played at least 8-10 times per game. https://www.ispot.tv/ad/why1/samsung-galaxy-s9-reimagined-best-buy-song-by-aston-merrygold
  5. The annoying woman from the Navy Federal Credit Union "zipline" commercial is back for the Buick Enclave commercial. "hey honey we should get one of those and have like a ton more keds" "keds" "like a ton more keddds" F$@#$@#%@
  6. Wew, I hate that commercial so much. The "wah-la" mom and child look like they smell like chicken noodle soup. And the other idiot mom -- letting your kids run wild in a freaking auto repair shop??? I don't see how that could end poorly....
  7. ispot lists the actress as Ashlee Crusco, and the google image searches seem to confirm. Regardless, she's extremely annoying. "Freeee shippingggggggg. aaaand moooooooooaaaaar".
  8. The 70s will always be my favorite decade of music, although I was born 77 and hadn't come around to much of it until my 30s.
  9. smooth, Rickie had great charisma. Also Steve Gadd's impeccable drums. Speaking of smooth, it's hard to beat Teddy P.
  10. Never get tired of Scott Walker. One hell of a crazy career arc. Fearless artistic vision.
  11. I'm pretty sick of Mila Kunis and her smug smokey-voiced sex kitten act in the Jim Beam commercials.
  12. The Daisy Cottage Cheese commercials are in heavy rotation and wore out their welcome fast with me. Annoying https://www.ispot.tv/ad/wafX/daisy-cottage-cheese-the-difference-in-me
  13. Little Feat - Long Distance Love - live performance with sweaty and hungover Lowell George
  14. I hear ya, I really do but I'll take the old school commercials over the new stuff like Mountain Dew "puppymonkeybaby" any day of the week.
  15. Most of my complaints are about singing in commercials, and I have another gripe. As a rabid Bowie fan, the Heineken commercial featuring some woman butchering "Heroes" makes me so angry...the way she belts/yells/croaks "you.....you WHEEEEEEEEGLGGGLGHGHGHGHGGHHGHG be queen!!!!" is just friggin abysmal. I mean damnit, show some respect for one of the all-time great rock songs. Just awful.
  16. TNT (I think?) late at night during Law and Order plays the short Extra Gum commercial with some girl inging "Can't help falling in love" EVERY OTHER BREAK. It's driving me crazy. I hate the way she sings it. It sounds like she says 'moooooooooo for I can't help...." followed by an awful melismatic run that makes me want to smash the TV. It's more the repetition than the content itself.
  17. A couple of country-western songs by two of the greatest female vocalists:
  18. It's been 13 months since this kind and gentle soul passed on. RIP Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou.
  19. Beautiful song (written by Leon Russell) performed by one of the greatest soul vocalists ever (and an exceptional pianist/keyboard arranger as well) -- Donny Hathaway. "A Song For You" And a great live performance from another soul legend:
  20. So glad this has gone into syndication on Hallmark "Movies & Mysteries" channel. My DVR is filling up. Hilarious and entertaining show.
  21. It's not bad (far from perfect) but has a nice 80s nostalgia to it and the child actors (including Gaten Matarazo) are actually great and really likeable. One the topic of commercials, Apple comes through again with their new #selfies commercial with a variety of people mugging for self portraits while a Muhammad Ali monologue about being "the greatest" plays in the background. Ali gets a pass -- it was his shtick -- but I seem to remember a long time ago when unrepentant vanity and self-absorption was actually frowned upon. It's one thing to have a positive self-image and not be hung up on negative feelings about the way you look...it's another thing entirely to be so vain that you're constantly plastering your selfie on every social media platform 20 times a day to show the world how "great" you are. I guess this is the new age, but it feels so wrong.
  22. Sorry for three posts in a row, last one for the night. Just wanted to share a beautiful Joni Mitchell track "Edith and the Kingpin" from one of her many outstanding albums "The Hissing of Summer Lawns" (1975). Such a lush and sultry 70s vibe, with that beautiful creamy guitar tone from one of my favorites Larry Carlton on his ES-335.
  23. Stevie Nicks' impromptu sing along to "Wild Heart" during a makeup session for a Rolling Stone photo shoot is just heart melting. What a beautiful and talented woman.
