  1. By the way, if Abby and Jenny are indeed prostitutes, they are not developed professionals or High End. A professional will not risk going on a show like this and put her life on public display. There's the legal aspect of it as they have to sign a contract with TLC and and TLC may do a light background check on them. A professional will likely smell if the prospect has any money during their first meeting and is likely to prefer the long con (getting money out of them for a long time) over the short con (one job and you are out). Also, neither of them has the look or the education to be "high end". I'm explaining this about high end prostitution because people tend to think that prostitution is only consumed by the middle and upper classes, but actually poor people consume this service and it is mostly poor women who offer it. It's ironic that Paul had Karine tested and Karine doesn't give off the vibe of escort or beginner prostitute that Abby and Jenny do. Yet, Sean did not even ask Abby about her sex life and should have after he learned of Chris (the other guy). Larry should get Syphilis, Gonorrhea and Chlamydia for being so fu@#ng dumb.
  2. By the way, the subculture of sex tourism that I described is rampant throughout the entire Dominican Republic, more so in touristy towns and larger cities. In other words, for a young lady who wants to be part of that world, it is extremely easy. Prostitution is openly legal there and very tolerated at all levels of society. Haiti didn't have much of an infrastructure and was actually the "poorest country in the Americas", according to the WorldBank. Still is. After the 2010 earthquake, Haiti was almost completely destroyed. No infrastructure, little or no government, no jobs, nothing. Lots of families illegally emigrated to the Dominican Republic and to this day, the two countries are still in conflict, much worse and hostile than US + Mexico. Imagine that climate and imagine being very poor and uneducated to begin with. What are your choices? I'm not saying that prostitution is the only choice, but to many people, hungry, dirty, unskilled and hopeless, the choice of a quick trick can be their way to a hot meal. There's always a friend who introduces them to a John on a double-date and they start by "entertaining" this John whenever he is town. Then there's a second John and the next thing you know, they are entertaining (screwing) between 5 and 10 regular men plus other "occasionals". I'm not making fun of this. My spouse thinks that these women are just lazy whores and asks why can't they make money cleaning homes. But I feel that there's more to it and that one must consider all the factors.
  3. PamelaMaeSnap, the border area around Haiti and DR is very dangerous and not a place to live decently, though a few poor people do. During visits to both countries Haiti and Dominican Republic -- which form the island of Hispaniola -- I noticed many men (and a few women) who live in DR and also in the US and Europe. They consume girls (and boys) like Abby as they consume food and alcohol, part of the sex tourism with hundreds of choices. I've said before that girls like Abby tourists don't even have to go out to meet, they approach you and start "conversations" very freely and very quickly make sexual advances. They often speak multiple languages because they need to, in order to make a living. Abby is probably one of those girls who travel to DR for two weeks per month to "work" and then come back with their earnings to feed their family, blah blah blah. I'd bet money that Jenny is on the same path, though not as advanced as Abby. I've often thought that if they can learn multiple languages and engage people, they are obviously street smart and could legitimately make a living in a sales environment. But they delude themselves into thinking they are "self employed" and they don't have a boss and stay on this sad life forever. As we notice businesses and professions being passed down to children in generations, the children of these sex workers also pass down their "skills" to their brood and thus perpetuate the sex slavery. Very sad. Karine is not there yet and with a policeman as her dad, I doubt it. But perhaps Abby and Jenny DO NOT come from such a strong family or perhaps other factors are luckily pointing her away from that sad life of prostitution.
  4. True and long lasting relationships take months and most times years to solidify and lead into marriages. These people are travelling into countries they've never been to, meeting people they haven't as much as had coffee with before, expecting to propose marriage or get engaged in less than a month. Something is off.
  5. Larry's problem may be traced to a medical condition. I think it's mostly psychological; he might be one of those guys who completely clings to relationships and when they fizzle they get clinically depressed. I just don't want to exclude the medical/physical aspect possibility. His personal hygiene is also of concern. I don't care if you lost your luggage and lost it all, but you are there to supposedly be with the "Love of your Life" Jenny, then please make an effort and shower and get out of those clothes.
  6. Jenny has a huge problem. Usually girls in that trade, use sex to trap their marks and get money and gifts from them (as Abby is doing with both Chris and Sean). Larry hasn't had sex and doesn't seem to be interested in sex (big red flag). This presents an issue for Jenny since she's not very interesting or charming and she's not very smart either. In the absence of these basic attributes, how does a girl trap a guy in a couple of weeks? In 2017, I don't know how Danielle and Mohammed, Nicole and that other guy from Morocco and other couples get married without having intimacy? I'm not talking about sex -- which should also be part of the package -- but intimacy. Intimacy is going to sleep with my leg on top of yours or yours on top of mine. Intimacy is playing with someone's hair until you (or they) fall asleep. Intimacy is sharing our fears and our plans for the future. This question assumes common sense and reasoning, which Larry has already indicated he completely lacks. This show and this forum are drastically cutting down my productivity at work.
  7. If Darcy is using the program to promote her company she's doing it wrong because it's not being done in a positive light or at moments you want to remember that product. She's obviously not a professional marketer and the producers are complying with her request to show off her brand in exchange for her sorry ass participation. If Jesse is using Darcy in hopes of landing a modeling job through Darcy's clothing company, he's approaching it very badly. He should have shut down that talk of ring and engagement and sell himself as a Darcy's Fun Boy Boy Toy. If you are going to mess with your boss make sure you have a way out that does not leave your boss upset OR make sure you discuss in advance that it's just a play thing, that way no one ends up disillusioned. Jesse, learn from Myriam, shut it down before it went deeper, albeit still wrong because Myriam could have done it before dumb Patrick got on his plane.
  8. I've been out of the game for a while but can people kiss in the lips and just be friends? No tongue, just kisses when they greet each other, all on the lips and with eyes closed? I don't think I'd be OK with my partner kissing friends smack in the lips. Jesus Take The Wheel!!!! Please!!!
  9. Let me rephrase what I said......Suburbs in America tend NOT to have AS MANY of the latest products and services, as readily available as large cities do. By her reaction to many things and her demeanor around people, I get the feeling the Darcy lives a very suburban and closeted life. By the way, Connecticut and New Jersey can be worlds apart from New York City. Even certain parts of New York State are ages behind.
  10. Darcy is not the most advanced / modern / contemporary American woman people expect her to be. One can be very good at business and not so good in sports. Or very bad in school, and good in relationships. Or good in bed and bad with money. Don't assume that success in one part of life, automatically means success in ALL parts of life. Darcy lives in a suburb of Connecticut. Suburbs in America tend NOT to have the latest when it comes to products and services. I am surprised that she's in the retail business, in clothing no less, yet dresses so poorly, and has zero clue how to play up her attributes and play down her "problem areas". She needs a makeover pronto.
  11. Myriam is not amused by Patrick's "spontaneity". She basically thinks he's an American clown, one of those people who think that jumping around and being all "natural" is actually cute. All the time Myriam is thinking, how much longer do I have to do this? I'd also bet she already decided she will NOT sleep with him because she's not attracted to him the way Abby (Haiti) is in love and in lust with Chris. There's something about the way people (women and men) smile and behave when they are closed to someone the love and want to be with. Myriam is NOT into Patrick and the boyfriend is all a made up story by her or by the producers. Darcey is one of those people who runs their life with a checklist: Business check. Kids, check. Husband, (let me travel to Europe to get an exotic one and rub it on my girlfriends (similar empty, desperate Suburban housewives) If she'd shut up about the ring and Jesse's proposal, if she'd just try to have a good time with Jesse and try to enjoy herself, she'd be happier. Darcey, you are in a great city, show Jesse the best of you and shut up about the effing ring! Abby and Jenny are pros at this. Jenny has not called Dumb Larry by his name once. These couples don't have important conversations about family, health, education, future plans, it's all easily guessable bull$#it. These girls are a dime a dozen and they know in their hearts who they are the men who fall for them. Jesus please!!! Take the wheel!!!! Abby + Sean + Chris....I'll sleep with Chris too. I don't blame Abby. But she's about to mess up her game by bringing Chris into the conversation. Soon she'll regret doing so after month of work. She'll think about all the panties and the other gifts Sean The Creep brought her and she'll realized the messed up. If she's a real pro, she'll tell Chris to play the part and that she will continue seeing him on the side. Sean will marry her and bring her to the US and then she will continue her thing with Chris. Larry is a disgrace to men everywhere. I wonder if the whole season is already recorded. I also wonder if any of the participants read this forum.
  12. I love Mother Patrick also, but she brings common sense into this circus, which is what the producers DON'T WANT. Producers don't want normal adults who have actually thought this out and don't make fool of themselves on a regular basis because that doesn't generate drama. They prefer the Jorges and Anfisas, Muhammed and Danielle and Nicole from Florida. This generates views and views sell commercials and commercials make money. This is not a documentary about how does the visa process work, it's a reality DRAMA show and as such needs as much drama and BS as they can possibly generate. A show with common sense and mature adults won't make you want to reach into the TV and want to choke someone. I like how Mother Patrick speaks clearly what's on her mind and does not sugar coat it for the cameras.
  13. With the right lighting, the right clothing and the right camera, anyone can look almost perfect in picture. That goes all participants of this show, specially Antonio, Corny, Jenny and Darcey. Pictures are like Facebook, you only publish what is going well in your life and never all the other crap.
  14. I wonder about the damage this show is doing to the legitimate couples who have serious, mature relationships and truly want to bring their loved ones to the US. If I'm an immigration officer and seeing these clowns, my judgement and the kind of questions that I'm going to ask are definitely going to be harder. On a not-so-serious note, can you picture Karine and Paul talking through their smartphone app during an interview. What happens when their phone runs out of batteries? What if they have an emergency like someone choking? How fast can they type?
  15. I've read it at least 20 times but I'll repeat it. Larry is a f%$#ing idiot train wreck. He's walking down the street and telling everyone in sight what he's doing; they are all looking at him like "who gives a rat's ass?" I haven't seen cases of this much desperate since High School. Or since Nicole and Azan. Larry needs someone in his life to set him straight. He's so desperate even the poor girl is looking at him and thinking "this guy is pathetic". And get some goddamn fitting clothes!. Larry is putting all American men to shame. Jenny has no idea Larry works at McDonald's or if she does, she doesn't know what that means. Even as a manager, Larry may not be able to support the "love of his life" to stay at home painting her nails while he's at work. By the way, to hear any of these people refer to the other person they just met as the Love if their Life is beyond pathetic. Christ almighty!!! I hope Jenny takes every penny of his 401K. I'm betting that she'll soon determine he has no money and will fleece him and dump him. By the way, Jenny is missing some molars (teeth) on the upper right. Notice how she tries to hid it when she tries to smile. I'm so glad that Patrick got dropped like cow manure. That young man needs to stop licking his lips every minute. It's not sexy when LL Cool J used to do it 20 years ago and it wasn't sexy when he did it either. Myriam is a lesson for all Americans looking for love via a Visa (ask the important questions!!). I don't blame Poor Dumb Patrick for forgetting to ask that important question. Myriam is at fault, but she realized that Patrick was a manchild and got out at the right time, before anything intimate happened. If they were not acting, Myriam came up quickly with an "out". Patrick doesn't strike me as being smart enough to do tourism by himself. And to PityFree, Patrick may be handsome but he's just not very bright or interesting and I think Myriam realized that and pulled the plug on it. Karine (rhymes with Latrine) was in a hurry for intimacy. Poor girl. I would have seen the results, and then walk out on him and leave him lying there naked with his dirty socks on. Then again, Karine has nothing to fall back on so she'll need to put up with that maniac. I have a bet that they will not get married and if they do, USCIS will question how in heaven are they able to have a relationship without actual meaningful verbal communication. Antonio is such an a$$#ole. He's actually saying on camera that he can sleep separately today but not tomorrow. He feels that American women are easy and expects this girl to pay for her stay tomorrow. Courtney keeps physically pushing him away, but she made the face of "I'm already here so I might as well do him". By the way, Antonio's bathroom is outside his apartment. Notice how the kitchenette is right next to the couch in his "living room" and everything is all together. Think of a hotel room converted into an apartment and one bathroom per floor. This is common in Europe and was common in some large US cities a long time ago, NYC, Philly, SF. By the way, these apartments are for students or very poor people, which proves that Antonio is not a model and doesn't make any decent money in those fake pageants. People who travel a lot don't travel like these guys. Packing and demeanor is only one of many tell tales that they are not the most worldly or educated people. My money says, Larry, Paul and Patrick did not finish high school. Courtney has some Community College, but not a lot. Darcy no college either, though she might be one of those people who goes to college but lack common sense and are basically clueless. None of these people strike as bright. Right now, only Jesse seems a bit smart, he's getting his publicity action and he will not go with Darcey beyond one season. But he's smart and he will parlay that into something. I guarantee it. Another point, TLC is financing some of these trips' expenses. I'm sure neither Patrick nor Larry (401K BS story) paid 100% for everything. Patrick and Myriam could have well been "in it" and know about the "deceit", but TLC funded it so they get a story for a couple of thousand dollars. Patrick's reaction was pretty contained because he knew about it. He's in the entertainment industry so he just go a free trip to Paris and some free promotion. So Miriam said that and 5 seconds later, each person just gets up and walks away. No way that would happen in real life. TLC and Sharp are diversifying and splitting up new shows, the way "Law and Order" did. God, there's 4 or 5 types of "Law and Order" shows and they all make money. That's genius.
  16. I get the feeling that out of the many applicants to this show, Sharp and TLC explicitly pick the ones in the worst circumstances or least likely to make it as a couple. Paul comes off as a Loser in the first minute you meet him (few men have it that bad). And Karine may be cute, but doesn't speak one word of English. How likely is she to form a meaningful relationship with someone she can't communicate with. Abby on the other hand, knows about the "Marry an American" track and she's been practicing for it for a long time. She grew up seeing women doing this and at some point thought, I could do it. She will marry Chris, get pregnant and have her fun on the side. Notice how she's really a young girl, but she handles certain aspects of her life as a mature woman. She knows what she's doing. Back to my original point, Abby gets picked with Mr. Creepy because Sharp/TLC know that the age disparity is of concern and will create drama. Hundreds of couples apply to this freak shows, they will receive financial and legal assistance with the process and their 2 minutes of fame. Of these hundreds, they select 10 to 20 and from those, they pick the final 5 or 6 couples that they will feature. You need to picture this selection process. A big round table of producers, each indicating which couple is weirder than the next. Which aspects of their lives can be exploited? All the things we write about and find absolutely crazy/stupid, have been planned or predicted by producers who have been doing this for a long time. Even after knowing this, I still see parts of the show and find myself screaming at the TV "what in the name of God are they thinking?" or "Can't you see she's playing you!!!"
  17. Law enforcement in 3rd world countries is not at all like Law enforcement in the US. Here those are actually good jobs, there they are not, which is why corruption is so rampant. You may not see yourself doing this but if you saw that your daughter had not chance of getting out of that poverty, no education, no working class jobs, nothing. Your life is waking up, tending to your parents or your siblings until you get a job at some factory. I'm not saying this is how all foreigners live, but in that part of the country where Karine live, you can just see the hopelessness everywhere. If your only chance was to date and marry a plain nut and uninteresting man, if that allowed you to get out of that s#ithole and you will eventually sponsor your family, then you too will take one for the team and live in misery for 5 years. It's either "do" those years, or live in shit for the rest of your lives and see your family and their descendants live in shit too, for eternities to come...... The one thing I promise myself I would give my daughters is the best education money I can afford, a work ethic and help them get economically established so they never have to depend on some creep.
  18. I actually agree with you in that that is the idealized version of nurses and doctors. Let's say that most nurses show at least a little bit of empathy and are not only into themselves. Chantel strikes me as the girl who constantly need to refresh her make up, fix her clothing and make sure she has the right lighting angle, even when she's waiting at the DMV. A sad, pathetic life. Pedro is going to dump that girl the minute they meet the 2 years requirement.
  19. To give the host a script requires a writer to be paid. Again, Sharp wants to keep expenses super-low. I was also watching it and thinking, a real host wouldn't let Loren to control the conversation. But Shaun Robinson is there to incite BS and to raise issues that would ignite that BS. This isn't journalism, it's trash. See it for what it is, enjoy it, and move on. They fill up with scenes that we have already seen because there is nothing else to show that is NOT free. In other words, those scenes don't cost anything and allow the program to be sold off as 1 hour, as opossed to 30 minutes (big difference). It would be great to have more background into a story but that cost money. Think of the fat blond girl and the guy in Morocco. Sharp had to cover those expenses and you are filming overseas, they add up quickly because foreign companies are charged twice for everything. Especially foreign TV or movie crews.
  20. Chantel's mother wants Chantel to be a nurse. That doesn't make her a nurse. She's probably assisted real nurses one time or another, but she's no nurse. Nurses have empathy for people, they care and provide physical care. I don't see Chantel doing either of these things but retouching her makeup and adjusting her bra for maximum effect.
  21. Paola decided that she would eventually divorce Russ the minute she put on that Lingerie for her first "shoot". She had a conversation with herself and she weighted the pros and cons of her decision. I could hear her thinking.....Am I going to be a housewife or a supermodel? I met a set of real models years ago for an event at a not for profit famous foundation. A friend on the board of that foundation invited me. Outside of the event, you couldn't get these girls to talk about modeling or to wear anything showy. They were so private and so professional it seemed normal to be around them. Which is what you expect from real professional. Well, Paola is none of that. Back to the first paragraph, Paola decided long ago that she'll divorce Russ the minute she starts making money escorting or doing actual modeling jobs. I could see her doing promotional modeling for alcoholic beverages at events, or food at the mall, but I don't see her modeling "for real". Then again, she's not stupid and won't divorce a good provider -- an engineer -- to be on the street. Most likely, she'll keep him for the ring and the roof and for the spurious respectability that a husband/wife brings, but in her heart of hearts, she has already divorced him. If Russ's parents are reading this, please forgive me. I heard one time someone referring to a crack addict "you're married to the pipe". Paola is married to attention to herself and to the camera. I hope Russ realizes this and stops playing with his hair.
  22. ......and look how it keeps degenerating. On the next season of the show, couples have not spent anytime together at all. One of them is crazy enough to proceed with a 90-day visa without actually video-chatting with the person. Notice how Sharp Entertainment displays that they are actively looking for candidates. On a related note, some of those couples are not going to pass USCIS (immigration officials) requirements. You need instances of multiple trips, along with pictures and ticket/hotel receipts documenting your many visits. You need call logs. In other words, you need to prove that an ADULT relationship actually exists and will exists once the K1 visa is granted. Loren was right on calling Anfisa on making it hard for others who are legitimately trying to come to the US to be with their significant others. This show is doing a disservice to those. But Sharp and TLC only cares about selling commercials and making money and don't care about the mess they leave behind. At a recent dinner conversation, I heard someone refer to someone else as "she's just a 90-day fiance". Sad.
  23. Because no one respectable and cheap would agree to host it. Sharp Entertainment is a production company. They used that studio in Queens (a borough of NYC) because it's cheap. They used Shaun Robinson because she's probably a couple of thousand dollars for a day's work. Sharp Entertainment invests this money and then they sell that show based on assumptions on viewers and the commercials those viewers are likely to watch and ultimately consume. You need someone like that because the show is trash and it doesn't sell advertisement the way "Good Morning America" or "60 minutes" does. Do you see Charlie Rose or Anderson Cooper or someone from PBS or NPR doing this? Absolutely not.
  24. I do believe that those purchases are legitimate. People that dumb and superficial, are known to spend truckloads of money of designer bags, diamonds and imported cars and also live in dumps and eat very poorly. Someone please explain to this poor woman, that just because you dress in designer clothes, it doesn't automatically mean you look like those models. You don't automatically become a classy person by wearing expensive crap.
  25. My impression of the Dutch is that not even young people care for shinny stuff and are less so into consumerism than we are in the US. I'm not surprised by Jesse dressing simple and living in a simple apartment. Jesse's appearance screams dandy and not someone who is into older women. He is very much into good looking women who take care of themselves and are naturally beautiful. You know, those people who wake up like they just came out of the gym / beach / perfect teeth and perfect hair and wear no make up. Jesse is very clear about his plans with Darcy, but he is gentleman after all. My money says he lets her down easily and will claim no compatibility due their age difference.
