  1. Jellybeans- An idea to recognize your daughter's birthday.

Pick something that she loved. and share it to help others.

(Purchase and donate a favorite food (pasta, soup) of hers to a food bank, a favorite comfort item (plush socks, fleece throw, hand cream) to a local shelter... something along those lines)

It will be helpful to you as well as the lucky recipients!

  2. The Titanic wreck was first found when I was a child and I binge watched all of the National Geographic specials on it. Now, I'm afraid of being on a ship in deep ocean water. As a kid, we went on cruises to Alaska and Hawaii (Princess cruise line, I think) and I remember having so much fun. Now as an adult, the thought of being on a huge ship in the middle of the deep ocean totally terrifies me. I think I could do a river cruise, if I could see the shore (I'm a swimmer, seeing the shore makes me think I have a shot if the ship goes down, lol), but any ocean cruise where I can't see land is out.

Ironically-In Halifax- many cruisers visit the Titanic museum.

  3. A difficult topic but why does Sherri make it more dramatic? Someone else had to remind her that Jeffrey has a Dad!

Very emotional trying to figure out who would care for Jeffrey if something happened to me. Nobody loves him like me
@SherriEShepherd Umm, what about his father?

nobody can love Jeffrey like me or his dad, but he is older as well... planning for Jeffrey's future still necessary

  4. The Astros Mascot was apparently at the game last night:

I'm walking to the bathroom a few minutes ago and these big shoes of mine tripped on a cord near a tv truck. What did I miss? #WorldSeries

(I'm not a baseball watcher but i love this tweet lol)

  5. Last week we discussed candy and Thanksgving.  Is there a special tradition your family or you do during the holiday season.  I go to House of Holiday in Queens ny and then go see lights in  Dyker Heights in Brooklyn  and of course i stop at Spumi Gardens to get pizza.

My daughter is Brooklyn- I'll have to visit Dyker Heights.

Here in MA a nearby town does a Luminarium (this year will be their 36th year!) The whole downtown (with large beautiful homes, churches and barns) is lined with candles and lots of gorgeous decorations - It's always the Sunday before Christmas. My two friends and I have gone when it was warm enough to BBQ outside and when there has been snow falling!

  6. I could never figure out why she looks pissed off all the time. If I woke up every morning to the miracle that is David Beckham, nothing could wipe the smile off of my face.

    IMHO, of course.

Isn't she trying to avoid smile lines? (thought I heard that at one point)

  7. She is a great lady & Sharp as a tack (& then some) & in much better health than me. It's sad cuz most of her friends have some type of memory problems & she just can't understand why they don't remember things like they used to.

My mom is 88 and doing well- She is thinking about a move to a center that offers different levels of care. One of the sources of money will be savings bonds that are fully maturing- I asked her why she initially invested in them 40 yrs ago- She started talking about "war time" lol. After I reminded her of my age (She got them when I was 14- and I don't think The Vietnam War was the reason) I suggested it was back when the banks were giving gifts for deposits (we have furniture and pewter pieces from those good old days!)  lol

  8. Reading this article, sounds like lots of parties, including Applebee's, shoulder the blame. Can't really blame Sherri for the outrage.

    http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2015/10/22/applebee-s-stiffs-autistic-employee-and-they-re-hardly-alone.html

It is a situation I would've resolved in my position as an employment coordinator for individuals with disabilities.

His job coach (helping on site) and the agency needed to rectify this by contacting Applebees and the state labor board.

The position was initially unpaid and the transition to paid was when the confusion resulted. The agency had means (and contacts) to rectify this- They dropped the ball.

  9. I joined Twitter.  Sherri is ranting about a young man with autism working without pay at Applebees

(he transitioned from an unpaid position and he was never put on payroll)

Sherri is blaming Applebees-  I blame the social service agency overseeing the job placement!

  10. Oh boy, Rite Aid gave some sunscreen to those lucky pink t shirted ladies, and then the camera panned in for a close up of the Rite Aid window. As someone who has had breast cancer, this constant advertising in conjunction with the pink month really irritates me. I suppose it raises money for the cause, but I'd like to see how much from every sponsor who capitalizes on it. Excuse me if I'm a little cynical.

On a shallow note, what was Paula wearing around her neck? That thing was really obnoxious!

    I love Barney Frank.

Sherri shared her knowledge of the sunscreen "it has SPF"

  11. THe bride is an EMT

A Tennessee bride proved she really is on-call 24/7 when she left her wedding to fulfill her duties as a paramedic by responding to a car wreck in the area that involved her own relatives, ABC News reported.

  12. My grandmother destroyed all of her crystal bowls trying to make Jello in them.  She loved Jello, but didn't learn not to pour boiling water in them--  and she had a college degree and taught cooking!!  (Also probably the WORST cook in the world--yikes!)

Best to mix Jello in one bowl and then pour into another bowl (not sure if this would've helped save the crystal though!)

  13. My son (middle-aged) received this questionnaire.  He completed it and was contacted by Nielsen.   He agreed to their putting equipment in his home and so his TV-watching is monitored and recorded.  It might be for as long as a year (I don't recall), but he receives a quarterly check from them.

Is it just him or are there others in the household?

Will it make him rich? Hopefully I didn't miss out on a good deal! lol

  14. I've never quite understood the jello salad thing, where you have various things suspended in jello. The first time I saw it on TV - in the episode of The Simpsons where everyone took one to the Mr. Burns work party, I thought it was something that had been made up for the cartoon.

For those of us that grew up with Jello- we don't think of it that way!  lol

A favorite at our home growing up was strawberry jello with canned pineapple, frozen strawberries and sour cream

We also tried the Jello with a pretzel crust - anyone else?

otoh- Jello squares were bad- I was in a woman's group that did a Christmas cookie exchange and someone brought them (cut in holiday colors and shapes)

  15. With tomato season behind us :(

Does anyone make tomato pie?(pie crust, cheddar cheese and mayo)- not a pizza (some folks call pizza tomato pies)

I love it but don't quite get it-

You take fresh from the garden (juicy) tomatoes and drain all the juice from them in order to make it!

  16. Give it until Tuesday then see if your bank will refund it under a fraud claim.

I'm sure all will be fine- Go fund knows what they are doing and protections in place.

We were lucky that it was a Go Fund Me account  and we weren't sending money to a PO Box (which was suggested at one point)

  17. but nothing! I DID swear when I read all of this. I exclaimed "holy *CARP*!!" (I have 3 of my grands sleeping over, and that is one of the only "swears" I use when they are around.) My 7-yo granddaughter asked me one time what 'holy carp' meant, and I told her it was a type of Angel Fish. (So,yeah, add lying to my 'sins'.) But again, HOLY CARP!.

I work in an agency helping folks with disabilities - One job coach indicates he became very religious working here. He would exclaim

"Oh My God", "Jesus", ."Oh Jesus Lord" and more- to avoid using 4 letter words!

  18. I had the Leslie Sansone tapes- a good easy workout.

I remember she made a joke about the (large) nose of a man among the folks exercising with her on tape.

Having  to hear it every time I used the tape was annoying!

  19. So - do any of you have any thoughts to share about Zumba? I feel optimistic that it will get me moving. I hope I will literally merengue my ass off.

Sherri Shepherd was into Zumba awhile back. She would tweet about classes and instructors  (apparently getting paid to mention Zumba) and she spoke at a Zumba conference.

Keep us posted on it- Is it fun to do at home or better to do in a class.

  20. Last night I went to dinner with two very attractive guys who are doing construction on my house.  My neighbors have been asking me how I get all the cute guys for my project.  We ended up having more than a few margaritas.  Let’s just say it wasn’t one too many; it was a pitcher too many.  And that pitcher was shared by only two of us because one of the guys had to leave.  The lead guy had parked his car in front of my driveway.  Parking is hard to find in my neighborhood.  He was too drunk to drive, so he left the car there overnight.  Now my very gossipy neighbors are thinking I got lucky, very lucky.

Once a vehicle from my exhusband's business broke down near my home and ended up in my driveway overnight so I understand!

  21. Reading through the case against Rosie- I can't help wonder what Whoopi's attendance was like for those Hot Topic meetings.

And- How can the suit mention media articles without identifying their source- My thought is if they were trusted sources (and not tabloids), the suit would name them!
