I asked this last year and someone told me "it was a football game."

Ha! Well, fuck that. You put these dancers through hell. Give them a moment for all their hardwork and sacrifice.

Kelli talked about how much the cheerleaders are on screen during home games while being interviewed for TrueTV's special on the opening of Cowboys Stadium in Dallas in 2010. Maybe she meant the big board but that was not what she said because she was referencing that it was Monday night football. Well I can tell you that when I watch a Cowboys game on tv, and this has always been the case, the cheerleaders are never/hardly ever shown on screen. Whatever network I’m watching, rarely does a camera go to a cheerleader. Just makes me mad.

  2. I’ve always thought this but never posted about. Why does the Cowboys organization play clips of the Cowboys during the Thunderstruck dance on the big board? I’m not sure if they still do it but why can’t they have their dance be on the board for the whole dance?

To me it’s just more rudeness and unappreciation from the Cowboys organization towards the cheerleaders. Just my thoughts.

  3. @MrsEVH - Great letter. Why do I feel that there is no way these guys are going to have a meeting with these women? Never a backward glance, I assume is their motto. Actions speak louder than words. They DIDN’T value these women. Never did and never will.

But the Pro Cheerleading Podcast should send this letter to every sportswriter, especially the women sportswriter’s and broadcasters, in the country. Because if these team owners/brass are doing this and getting away with it, than other teams may follow.

    Such a shame.

**They should have used the writer’s name at The NYPost and not just the paper’s title. The writers at the paper are actually more respected than the newspaper they work for.

  4. It will be interesting to see how Kelli talks about VK this year.

Remember that she was so excited last year because she thought everyone was going to fall in love with VK, and how that blew up in her face. Maybe she will refrain from effusion and just speak about her professionally.

    Maybe.

The only way I would ever pass a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders interview/test, whatever is if they focused primarily on MTT or if you took the Cowboys Cheerleaders out of it, and just asked questions about Dallas - the tv show😀

The only reason I listened to the book is that a podcast I was listening to referenced the book. What was said about Michael Irvin was compelling enough for me to want to hear more. It was way worse than I’d imagined.

  6. Anyone ever read Jeff Pearlman’s book, Boys Will Be Boys: The Glory Days and Party Nights of the Dallas Cowboys Dynasty? Holy Hell. Audible is so great because of the number of credits they give you so I downloaded and listened. If you ever want to hear the history of Jerry Jones arrival and subsequent years after him taking over, it’s football and drugs with nights reminiscent of Caligula.

I’d heard about things written in the book for years but decided to finally read/listen to it myself. Again, holy hell. And for the record, Skip Bayliss, the at the time Dallas-based sport’s journalist, MADE UP that Troy Aikman is gay. And that rumor has never gone away. It has followed Aikman since Bayliss’s book was released in the mid/late ’90’s and it’s completely shameful. I had no idea.

That’s only one of hundreds of gems in the book. The cheerleaders are only mentioned peripherally so nothing to talk of there. BUT, since I am speaking of the debauchery of the team, had Suzanne Mitchell not shut down Jones when he was looking for more scantily clad uniforms and wanted to watch the DCC practice, I am certain he would have wanted the squad to be available to himself and the team after hours. Jones does not come across well in the book, in either his business practices nor his personal life.

And if Briana doesn't get a Barbie, I'm going to go to Kelli's house and Rickroll her 😈

Off topic - there’s a video of a now brown haired Rick singing Never Gonna Give You Up with a choir. He is so adorable in the video...it’s on YouTube.

It's fascinating to me, all the small opportunities and tiny ways they find to reinforce rank and status in this group.

    That’s a really interesting observation.

One of the years the Trevino sisters were on the team with Brooke and I can't remember who else they briefly showed the Vets residence.  I remember the vets having trouble learning a new routine and practicing in the pool.  I always wondered how that went over.

I always thought that scene was staged for the show.

I feel like this is one of those stories that has a grain of truth, but got distorted in the retelling, game of telephone-style. My guess is Hannah ran into Kelli, and Kelli didn't immediately recall her. (There have been 200+ DCC in the last 12 years. I can forgive her not having instant recall of all of them, especially since we know Kelli isn't very close to them and Hannah was only there for a year.) I bet Kelli said something like "you look great, you've changed so much!" Hannah repeat it to a friend, who told a friend, who told a friend, and it morphed into "Kelli had no idea who she was."

Well this makes way more sense.

Hi everyone! Brand new to the board but a lurker for years. I am one of those that joined this forum just so I can get the private message. Can I please? I'm dying!

I also want to thank everyone for keeping me entertained and up to date for so many years. I really appreciate it.

I have so much to say about so much but we are having a heck of a thunder storm so I am afraid of losing power. But I plan on being active and opinionated on this board. But I'm super nice! I promise. Hope that is ok!

Welcome. We like nice but it is not a requirement. 🙋‍♀️

Thank you!!  I just know that the posters who come back after taking the year off will ask.  And then, after you post it, three posts later, someone will ask again, and so on, and so on.  And then they will get snarky when we tell them it's on another thread😂

When the show starts there will be a barrage of requests...
