  1. First of all I'd like to applaud all the contestants from yesterday and future shows because performing in front of huge crowds and millions of viewers is a big accomplishment in itself. I know I couldn't do it. However I'm a fan of AGT. As a fan, I do what fans do....critique. So let me start this off by saying that I was disappointed by some of the acts that made it through the next round. Musicality - It's great that a group from Chicago and rough neighborhoods, gets to show the country their dedication and what it can bring. This is all great but this show isn't about that. It's about finding a million dollar act and a stand alone show in Las Vegas. This group is not that act. Lori Mae - I know people find her funny even if I don't, but I think her going through the semis is a case of "let's throw the wrench in the machine and see what happens" type of thing. The more people complain about her the more people will vote her through. Laura Bretan - Even though I picked her to go through (I don't like her but America does), I was hoping she wouldn't. Not because she has won another GT show, but she isn't that polished as a singer. She started off out of tune Tuesday night and had some rough moments. Someone posted why all the negative talk about the teen female contestants? Too me it's seems the judges put them through because of their age. They don't want to tell them no? Is it me o does the stage and overall production starting to look like America Idol more each week? For a second there, I thought I was looking at the result show for AI. There used to be more red, white, and blue colors on the set. Now lots of neon blue. Until next time....
  2. Like several posters wrote, this night was kind of boring. Here is my take on last night from worst to best. 12. Dorothy Williams - She never should've gone through in the first place. Terrible! 11. Sila Sveta - The whole performance was subpar. Things looked cluttered and the effects weren't that good. Dancing was boring also. 10. Outlawz - I noticed something the group did that they didn't do in the other performances. They spread out their dancing. In the earlier routines the group danced more in a tight formation thus hiding the fat dude inability to move. This time with the Ghostbusters theme, their dance formation was wider. The fat dude's dancing was exposed. No MelB, he wasn't injured! 09. Lori Mae - She's not funny. She has a stuffy nose and is not cute. That's about it. 08. Laura Bretan - She started shaky but then came though in the middle only to lose it at the end. Jackie Evancho she is not! 07. Musicality - This is a choir people! Choirs will never win AGT! They were good but not a million dollar act. 06. Daniel Joyner - His performance was good but was the band really playing? Everything seemed weird too me. 05. Hara - He's been good in the past but tonight he was off in my opinion. Even though I liked the performance, it was kind of boring with little magic if any. 04. Tape Face - He had me laughing like he's done before but he is better off as a compliment act to a bigger main act. 03. Jayne Brown - She sounded great. The best singer "of the night", this night, yesterday...that's it! She better watch it though, her bubbly personality might get old after a while and America will forget her. 02. Deadly Games - I enjoyed their performance and YES, the girl is gorgeous and sexy! However, what else can they do next? 01. Jon Dorenbus - I love magic and he was great yesterday! Someone wrote that they figured out how it was done. Really? Great trick! Made up for it for his sloppy performance in the last round. Best act of the night. Seven acts are going through, sooooo here is who I think America will put through; Jon Dorenbus, Deadly Games, Jayne Brown, Tape Face, Hara, Daniel Joyner, and Laura Bretan Until next time....
  3. I've watched TTT since the 70's and this version does not compare at all. First of all, I wish they would get rid of Anderson's mother! Why is she there? She doesn't add anything to the show. She's annoying...very annoying! Get a new host! He's not funny at all. I know the show is trying to infuse some modern jokes to the game. The producers should watch the old shows and learn from them. Another thing, what's with the false text that goes to the lowest judges score? What's with that? I know they're trying to make this all about the celebs but come on now, they should K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple Stupid).
  4. When did they announce the WCs?
  5. Ok, name at lest 5 singing shows CURRENTLY on this season or scheduled for next season. I'll help with at least one, 1. The Voice 2. 3. 4. 5.
  6. The best act of the night? The Clairvoyants. The act I'm glad that didn't go through? The 14 year old looking for his mom. The show didn't need yet another act going through because of their sob story. The kid act I'm glad didn't through? That 6year old comedian. His jokes weren't funny. The golden buzzer girl I thought was great! Great voice! Now...about that hair. I'm still hoping there is no wild cards. Until next time.....
  7. The best act of the night for me was the magician with the bills. What a great trick! The mom and son dance team is just weird. I was hoping they wouldn't pass through. Tape Face made me laugh again and again! He's top three material! Surprise cut of the night was the red haired singer. She was the best singer yesterday! The "I could see this a mile away award" goes to Brian Justin Crum. Here is a good singer who doesn't need the sob back story get special treatment during his performance. Did anyone notice no one was clapping like they do other singers during the climax parts of the song? It was an effect I'm sure AGT wanted to have for their favorite singer. I'm sure they told the audience not to clap during the performance but to hold it until the very end. Yes, yes, and yes to if Brian Crum is a good singer, if the red haired girl was better, and if he made it through because he's gay. Good for Malevo for making it through with the golden buzzer. Until next time......
  8. LESLIE HAS TO GO! There I said. What rubbed the wrong way was her loudness, the need for attention, and for crying out loud......her cheating! Every single time a question was asked there she went looking to see what everyone was writing. At times it appeared she had no answer and copied the answer of others. I watched the classic Match Game (I'm old) and yes, there was celebs looking to see who wrote what at times but not as much as today's game. Yeah I know this game is geared for the young folk but Leslie in my opinion wasn't funny at all. Then she gives away that the answers matched in the final round. I remember laughing at Paul Lind's jokes in Hollywood Squares. He sure didn't need to be loud.
  9. One other thing....I hope there aren't any "wild cards". It just makes the show drag on. The judges act that this was it. No more chances. Let's get to the live shows already!!
  10. Wow! Then you're awesome! I don't know how he did that trick. Can you tell us? He never touched the cube when he tore the piece from the card. I actually saw it again and I'm still stumped!
  11. Oh man! What a messed up selection from the judges. First of all I might be in the minority on this but the trans comedian was picked because she is transgender....PERIOD! She was not better in entertainment value than the Rubik's Cube guy. Geesh! WTH? I agree with the post about Moya. She sang another song you don't put your own flavor on it. "Alone" is a great song from Heart. Leave it alone!! I thought the muscle singer had a better voice than Moya. I just don't get why the guy who stood on all those chairs in the auditions did a 360? A trampoline act? What's going on here? Katie Lynn is one of the few kids that deserved making it through IMO. I still want to know what are all these "singing shows" people keep mentioning? I know the Voice is still going on but that's the only one I can think of. Oh yeah, another thing about Moya. When she said about her mother passing away I thought there is no way she's not going through! I was right. Until next time....
  12. The best of the night was Hara. I love magic and illusions. I pick Hara over Jon Dorenbos because I saw Jon flip the page that had the card drawing with the card coming out of it. He had two pages with the card drawings. You can tell because the drawings are different. Laurie is the only act that should not have gone through IMO. She went through because of her age. Joking about her age is going get old real fast. What did I tell you guys, singers, singing groups, magicians, and comedians will always have the upper hand in AGT. No matter how hard the dance groups try to make their routine different than others, it always ends up being the same. Another act I really enjoyed was The Passing Lane. They're funny and entertaining! The problem I have with these judges are is when they're not looking at the act and the they say they didn't like it. The only problem I have with a particular judge is MelB. Again, her voice just doesn't translate well on t.v. Her British accent is different than Simons. Hers is so thick that I have to rewind just to understand what she said. Looking forward to tonight's cuts. Until manana....
  13. I don't mind singers being on the show because I'm seeing these acts with the $1 million question in mind and if I would pay money to see this act as a stand alone act. This goes with every act not just singers. Singers, magicians and comedians will always have an edge on the other acts. They can expand their acts. While the baton twirler was very good I'm wondering what else can he do? I see him as a part of an act not a stand alone one.
  14. Wow, if we were all in a big room discussing yesterdays AGT acts, I think ya'll would throw shoes at me...lol! Because, there are some acts I just didn't like! That lady who sang the Celine Dion song? I did not like her at all. Let me explain. That is a Celine Dion song and not just anyone sings her songs "their way" and gets away with it. The lady had a good voice but I've heard her r&b style before and her spin on this song just didn't do it for me. Not every song is meant to have an r&b, soul flavor spin on it, and "It's All Coming Back to Me Now" is surely not one of them! Go easy on me with those shoes!!! :D My best act of the night was the Rubik's Cube magic act. Great act!! The juggling act was entertaining as well. The singing act who I liked was that muscle bound dude. He has a great voice and if he ever gets serious about this show he'll be around a long time. I thought it was corny when he took off his shirt. He doesn't need that! Now, did the judges pass through the little girl rapper because they thought she was good or because she's a little girl who is rapping? Probably the latter which is wrong of the judges to do that. I too get uncomfortable with elderly acts coming out there because they are there to be the laughing stock, which is wrong! That 90 yr old lady was there and put thru just for laughs. If they can't say "no" to the elderly and for that matter "kid acts" then the show should have age limits. I've had it up to here with Simon! I never thought I would say this but I hope he doesn't come back next season! He's been a disappointment and actually looks out of place and uncomfortable out there. He's not the American Idol Simon we were waiting for. He's the new Simon! He's a dad now and maybe has a different outlook on these shows. I want Pierce Morgan back!!!! Until next time....
  15. I agree that there should be a separate show for kids. Passing kids along because rejection will traumatize them is one of the reasons they shouldn't be on the show. The best act for me of the night was the 14 year old contortionist. The Smith's singing couple didn't do it for me. The sang well but the whole act seemed to rehearsed. Looking into each others eyes was too gimmicky for me. Ryan Beard's performance was funny. I look forward to what else he has in store. That couple where the man was throwing the woman was good but to me it's a "dead end act". What else are they going to do? Pato and Ginger, another sob story that went through because of it. The dogs act was just average. I've seen better dog acts! Brian Justin Crum has a good voice but why such a commotion? Was it because he's gay and they get a automatic pass? Was it because he was bullied? According to Frankenstein123, his story is made up? Simon Cowell is a disappointment so far. The show should've brought back Pierce Morgan. Please, please, please, please get rid of MelB!! Until next time....
  16. What a great post! Especially about the "sustainability" of some acts and where are all those "singing shows" people have been talking about? I have referred to acts that can't move forward as "dead end acts". Acts like, dance couples, dance groups, aerobic aerial performers, motor cross bike riders, daredevil type acts, and other novelty acts just to name a few. Acts like singers, bands, comedians, and magicians will always have more growth and will continue to be the favorites to win. Also, any act that has a combos like computer generated effects. laser lights, mixed with some dancing also has proven to be successful in the past. Hope you stay watching! :)
  17. I'd go for that! Unfortunately, Heidi would probably vote no because it would be too gruesome for her.
  18. A few things that bothered me yesterday was Heidi not judging, MelB not looking at an act and Simon not being Simon. Heidi gave Baron of The Universe an automatic "no" because she doesn't like acts like his. What the..? Her job is to judge whether the act is worthy of $1 million dollars not of she likes it on a personal level. MelB, how the hell are you going to judge if you're lookin away? Simon, stop pussy footing around and stop being nice! First of all, Calysta Bevier, very pretty girl. I'm glad her cancer is in remission. Not golden buzzer material. Her sob story pulled her through. Her voice was just average at best. Julia Scotti probably went through because she's transgender plain and simple! Disappointing indeed. Jayne Brown, now that is a golden buzzer performance in my opinion. Very talented young lady! Believe it or not, I didn't find anything wrong with Ronee's first song. I thought she sounded just fine. I think it was a set up to add drama. My two best acts were Jon Dorenbus and Sos & Victoria. I love magic so I go with Jon's act on this one. I still feel that the show should replace MelB. Her voice just isn't good for t.v. I'm starting to think the same thing for Heidi and her judging. Find someone that will judge the acts......PLEASE! One last thing,...someone kick Simon in the behind so he come out of his funk! Until next time......
  19. My best acts were the Russian Bar and Viktor Kee's juggling act. The old dance group even though I give them credit for being up there shouldn't have gone through. The dance groups that they showed briefly, the high school A capella group, the high wire act are "dead end" performances that aren't going to win AGT. I agree with some that the golden buzzer should not have gone to that Italian singer. That 12 year old girl singer sang well but her voice does need to mature. Singers will always win or be near the top of AGT because there's a variety they could put in their act. Changing the song, genre, adding dancers, etc. I really don't care for comedians and none of them were very funny. Until next time.....
  20. When looking at these acts I always ask myself if I would pay to see an act and if they are worthy a million dollars and a stand alone at a casino. Whether I like an act is not the point because so many times I like an act but I feel that it's not worth the price of admission. I also don't think group singers, dance teams, acrobatic couples routines or motorcycle type acts will ever win AGT. There are other acts that are "dead end acts" but these are the main ones. I think Simon needs to regain his American Idol mojo back! He's lost some of that and has gotten softer. That's not a good thing. I agree the golden buzzer for the 12 yr. old girl was a waste. She didn't sing good at all! I think Simon's reference to Taylor Swift was kind of funny. TW does not have a good voice at all either. I think her songs are full auto tune to the max! The old man rocker was another awful performance. Did they pass him through because of his age? YES! Does he have a chance to win AGT? NO! The hearing impaired comedian wasn't very funny either. He was better than the other one but that's about it. He probably won't go far. I said "probably" because stranger things have happened before. The best of the night was the drum and dance group from Argentina. I know I said that a dance group will never win but I feel with the added element which are the drums, this group might make some noise moving forward. I really wish AGT would replace MelB as a judge. It seems she has trouble with her words, ....pronouncing her words? It seems she's trying to be careful in pronouncing that she ends up speaking too slow which bugs the heck out of me. This for Heidi and MeB. How the hell can they judge an act if they're not watching the performance? Until next time...
