The only reason I would hope she's on the shelf pretty much is so that she has very little to do with Operation Dumb and Dumber. With my luck though she'll be heavily involved with that.

I don't even know what to expect for Emma in the next arc. My expectations are at rock bottom.

This arc sounds like shit. The more I read the more I drink. I've given up on anything good happening to the characters I care about. I'm in for Cruella and her snarky ways. Let her rip darling.

I've given up on the tattoo. They've been saying we'd learn the importance of it since season 1. I'd rather stick with my head cannon then whatever they'll pull out of their ass in season 9.

Enjoyed your entire post but especially these 2 key points. I can always put down a book or turn off the TV and move on when something has ticked me off. But I'm like a dog with a bone and just can't let go here. I'm just stunned that we were screwed over like that. Again. And it's so much worse because Adam and Eddy don't even understand why. Absolutely clueless and insulting as to what they think we want. Emma's my favorite character (big surprise to you all I know) and she deserves so much more. And the sad thing is it would just take a tweak or two here and there to make it better. A differfent cut between scenes or a simple line but the writers just don't give a shit about her character enough. I really wish I could quit the show. But I'm here until the boozing, side-eyeing, table flipping, curse spewing, stress balling, bitter end.

YaddaYadda, I'm not sure what's worse. Your scenerio where Emma knows nothing and they bring it up out of the blue to create angst. Or we find out that she does know everything and we didn't get to see any of those conversations.

Those interviews confirmed what many of us Emma and CS fans figured out long ago. The writers don't care about the emotional pay off. So more cheap lines and hot kisses with none of the real substance we want.

We were talking about some of these same issues last year. I wager if any of us are around the same time next year we'll still be talking about the same issues. Until the writers start showing the pay off we'll continue to be left unsatisfied and having to fill in blanks. It's unfortunate that the writers short change and assassinate characters who are not named Regina.

Agreed. So much has to be on faith, head cannon, fanfic, whatever you can grasp, to fill in blanks where Emma is concerned. The writers don't care about her character and the emotional pay offs. Fucking sad because it's her pay off that is the most interesting to me and would be the most rewarding. I shouldn't be surprised though when it's taken 4 seasons just to give us flashbacks for her character. We're just left with whatever crumbs they give us and that depresses me to no end.

The writers have no interest in showing the emotional payoff for Emma's character. They've done it repeatedly with her family and they're now doing it with Hook. I want so much more for her character and relationships but have sadly accepted its never going to happen. The writers just don't care unless your name is Regina.

Exactly. We see when Emma pushes Hook aside. We didn't see that here though. We have no idea if Emma left Hook standing there to go have shots with Regina or if they went back to his room or if Hook excused himself first. We have no idea how much time passed between those scenes even. I hate it but I do think Emma would have shots with Regina. My only disbelief is that she would leave Hook standing in the hallway after literally putting his heart back to do so. Emma has come too far this season to do that. My favorite part too. The only thing missing was seeing Hook hand it over to her in the first place.

I can imagine Jen's excitement the day she got the mid finale script. Imagining all the ways Emma was finally going to save the day. And then the fuckery all over her face after reality set in. I now understand why she didn't have any interviews this time. What could she possibly say? Shit on Emma's character all you want but this is a writing and directing issue. Once again we've had an arc that built her character and relationships up only to lead to no pay off. This isn't just a Hook issue which I'm seeing the most complaints about. They've been doing this with her family for a while now. People are sorry for Hook? They want better for him? Where's the outcry for her character? I want better for her but have sadly accepted it's not ever going to happen. These writers do not care to give her character that basic courtesy. Emma has her issues but do you really believe she'd leave Hook after that to go have shots with Regina? I don't. But these idiot writers don't even care to write a line or two to show them parting after such an important scene. Cheap lines and a hot kiss makes it all better in there book. And worst of all 6 weeks have now passed. We don't even know if Emma and Hook talked about things.

That's going to be my head cannon until proven otherwise.

Colin used the word intrigue but all that makes me is suspicious. I know he also said CS fans would be happy. I'm just not sure that will line up with my version of happy. I wish Jen did an interview. She usually makes me feel better about things without actually spoiling it.

One thing I can always count on is enjoying the premiere's, mid-season, and finales. But for some reason I'm kinda meh about tonight. Hope I'm in for some good surprises at least.
