  1. There have been mentions of climbing up and down stairs to reach the various levels of the Silo. Are there any elevators, if only for high-ranking people? 🤔
  2. Yes! Also Logan's Run and the classic THX 1138. (A great film worth checking out if you can find it). David Oyelowo is acting the sh*t out of the scene where his wife goes outside.
  3. I think the poison is in the suits. (Not a spoiler, this is pure speculation as it’s been awhile since I read the book)

    S01.E01: Freedom Day

Why does Apple spend a zillion dollars on these shows and not promote them? Ted Lasso and Severence are two of the only Apple shows that seem to have gained any traction in the larger pop culture zeitgeist. Apple is out HBOing HBO with the high concept Sci-Fi: Silo, Severence, Foundation, For All Mankind, Extrapolations and a couple I haven’t even watched. And why is Apple the only streaming service I can’t play through Fibe TV? I am watching this on my Desktop.
  5. I’m reminded of Snowpiercer: people in a confined space in a post-apocalyptic world. A death puts things into play.
  6. One of the many, many things I loved about 24 is that the format prevented any flashbacks, flash forwards, or flash-sideways into alternate timelines.
  7. During the HLN marathon I missed the episode where Walter and Walternate finally meet. I do remember that scene being unexpected and beautifully acted. One thing I liked about the show is how the Red and Blue Universes ultimately joined forces instead of going to war. in later seasons Fringe does get a little repetitive in showing us various ways one universe conflicts with another when they combine or overlap.
  8. Random comment: Anna Torv is beautiful in such a natural, fresh -scrubbed way, if that makes sense. Seth Gabel as the Blueverse Lincoln was adorable.
  9. "Death! Delicious, strawberry flavoured death!" Anna Torv is so under rated. Glad she got noticed a bit for The Last of Us.
  10. Last night I watched the episode where Peter gets in the Machine and projects himself to the distant year of 2026. So we had a 2011 projection of our own time (almost). Near-Future portrayals fascinate me. In this Fringe 2026, we have the new World Trade Center opening in 2021, and phones that fold in half. It is both more and less advanced than our own 2020’s. At least we don’t have to deal with holes opening up in our Universe, as far as I know. I am enjoying this random re-watch as I remember the general story of the show but not all the details. And some of the dialogue is great. “She tricked you with her carnal manipulations and you fell right into her vagenda!” Oh Walter.🙄
  11. It would be like that family or work gathering you want to get out of. I can already see Captain Carol Freeman saying “Sorry we couldn’t make it to Frontier Day, my first officer accidentally developed god like powers. Yes. Let’s go with that.” IIRC in “Amok Time” Kirk blew off some gathering of ships to help Spock.
  12. So there were no distress calls? No planetary disaster or diplomatic situation? Nothing in the whole freaking Alpha Quadrant that needed a Fed Starship to be somewhere besides Earth?
  13. Were ALL the Starfleet ships at Earth For Frontier Day? That seems pretty stupid. There must have been some Designated Survivor ships somewhere.
  14. Lisa as the Borg Queen is everything.
  15. As for my previous comment for all we know Seven and Raffi may be getting along as friends and coworkers. In any case I do like how Starfleet doesn’t feel the need to control two consenting adults having a romantic relationship while using their own judgment.
  16. So if Raffi is Seven’s first officer I wonder where that leaves their relationship. I’m going with “It’s complicated”. We established back in “Lessons” that a captain can have a romantic relationship with a member of thier crew.
  17. “Peter” sets up the mythology for the rest of the series. Fringe is often dismissed as a “Poor man’s X Files.” I actually like Fringe better than X Files. Fringe was a bit lighter on its feet and didn’t get too bogged down in the aforementioned mythology. It did not drag on for too long, the fifth season felt tacked on but didn’t ruin the show for me. I love so many shows from the 00’s and early 10’s: Fringe, 24, Lost, Battlestar Galactica. On Fringe the World Trade Centre serves as a powerful motif for which universe we are in. I wonder if this would have the same impact today.
  18. Watched "Peter" last night courtesy of HLN. What a great episode. Loved the retro 80's credits.
  19. I like that Jack is self-aware enough to acknowledge that he's a nepo baby.
  20. As for the middle aged crew people it’s possible that they may have joined Starfleet later in life. I like that idea. IIRC McCoy joined after a career as a civilian doctor.
  21. I liked this one. The sun is shining! The costumes are really cool. I was trying to place the actor playing Lawyer Guy, I see he is Murray Bartlett from The Last Of Us. That guy can really pull off a dress! The solution seemed a little too easy, and humans are always going to human. But I do like that there is room for hope. I would watch a second season if there is one. ETA: I enjoyed the costumes, but the clothes suddenly looked really heavy and warm. Ism't it getting hotter?
  22. I did like how Seven brought together some random crew people who were too old to get Borged and rallied them to do stuff. Not everybody in Starfleet wants to rise in the ranks, some people define success in other ways and that’s good too. I'm handwaving the presence of the cook as being there because Shaw may have preferred “real” food to the replicator. See also: Pike.
  23. The Changelling detetor thing at the end felt a little shoehorned in, as if the writers almost forgot that was a major plot point earlier in the season.
  24. Although it is time for this show to end, I would still like to see more of the late 24th and Early 25th Century. This feels like the “present” of Star Trek with SNW in the past and Disco in the future. One of the reasons why Lower Decks is my favourite ST series right now.
  25. IIRC a few episodes back Worf made a comment along the lines tht what happened to the Enterprise E "Wasn't my fault."
