Something else that's puzzling to me -- if family sizes are getting smaller, why do so many houses have four or five bedrooms and three or four bathrooms?

Family sizes ARE getting smaller, but heaven forbid a child should be forced to share a bedroom or bathroom with one or more siblings! If there are more bedrooms than people, the extras become rooms for the constant influx of overnight guests (who also must have their own bathroom!) or the requisite "craft room" or to display the husband's collection of antique guitars.

  2. Phyllis (how many times did her husband say her name, like every sentence?) struck me as the type of flight attendant who would only work in the first class cabin and look down her nose at those of us back in coach!

I bet the only issue the producer could dream up for drama was the paint color of the house they bought. And I agree with the theory that they didn't move to Sicily year round, they would have had a much larger budget if they had sold a home in Carolina plus the flipping aspect really leads me to conclude this is an investment which they will live in part of the year and rent out the rest.

I was half expecting them to buy BOTH the pink house for now AND the studio for future use.

  3. I figured the comedian husband from the Costa Rica episode would be working as a lounge act in an English speaking beach resort. But how much money could he make doing that as the sole breadwinner? Wouldn't it make more sense for the wife to continue working as a nurse and the husband staying home to take care of Jacob's special needs? Wouldn't his comedy act be a night job anyway? I'll bet that's what they're really doing and the drama behind the move was all fabricated for the episode. Also, he didn't strike me as being a particularly funny guy, sort of dour and negative, maybe a Don Rickles type of comedy?

Her etsy store has lamer things than the pieces she showed on the show.

Oooh, link please! I couldn't narrow down the sellers on Etsy, although I did see a rectangular one that was supposedly Colorado, or was it Wyoming...I wonder if she's also outlining European countries, there might be less competition.

The San Francisco to Barcelona couple. That artwork she was going to sell. Was I the only one who thought it was ugly?

No, I thought it looked pretty amateurish, like a string art kit from the 60s. And even if anyone wanted an yarn outlined state, who would want to pay shipping from Spain to the US? I knew they wouldn't take the second apartment with the balcony because it was obviously currently occupied, but when she complained about the bedroom with no natural light I wanted to scream at the TV, "Use the DARK room for sleeping and the brighter one for your tacky crafts!" Imagine my surprise when they did exactly that, but with the first apartment, the one without Tony's coveted balcony (which I was ready to push him off by the end!)

I officially found the worst hipster couple of all time last night.  The woman was a poor man's Selma Blair, and they were looking in New Orleans.  Both her and her spouse were up talkers, and they up talked over each other.  The effect of empty homes with wood floors and high ceilings and uptalk echoing was more than I could bear.

I didn't see the episode last night, but was the Hipster Girl obsessed with the house having a "chandy"?

  7. I posted the picture on Facebook after seeing the episode featuring it four years ago. Today it came up as my "Memories on Facebook" from July 11, 2012. I don't remember any details of the episode, but I'm pretty sure the dress was a Pnina (okay, safe bet!) the girl might have been Greek and that's her opinionated Dad in the background ready to shell out whatever it takes to make his little princess happy. I recognize Randy, but not the consultant. Here's the only link that I have to the photo, although it doesn't help to prove or disprove its veracity: https://scontent.fewr1-1.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/320365_10151020070504629_949536286_n.jpg?oh=e7aee9d253027e4868f5a57993a8b74b&oe=5827C594

Did anyone watch the triplet parents episode. The wife was completely unlikeable. She just bugged me with all of that talk about the staircase. She's the mother of newborn triplets and she was worried about having a grand staircase to take pictures of them at prom.

IKR! How many times did she mention the grand prom-worthy staircase, an event probably at least sixteen years in the future! I must admit the first time I toured my current house and saw the foyer and stairs I mentally started decorating it for Christmas but at least that's a yearly event. At this point, I have now decorated it for 35 Christmases as well as taken a handful of prom pics. I can also imagine Triplet Mom as already dreaming of the day when her daughters pledge her college sorority.

And what is it with these helicopter moms who have to see their kids at every moment of the day?

Wouldn't that mean all the kids would always have to be together in the same room or do these moms REALLY have the old cliche "eyes in the back of their heads?" Maybe the homes should be equipped with CC surveillance cameras in each room so Mom could watch everyone from the comfort of her granite topped computer station.

I missed the 10 minutes or so of the show so maybe I missed something, but I couldn't understand why they wanted to buy a house large enough for a rental space.  Why not just buy a smaller home for less money for her and her daughter?

The third house exactly fit the bill-single family-under budget and fussy Nutella liked it, but her mother nixed the idea because she claimed she REALLY wanted a rental property to help with expenses. Maybe she's planning to apply to "Income Property" as a crossover episode.

  11. I got the feeling Nutella (or whatever the heck the daughter's name was) isn't going to be any help when it comes to upkeep or repairs. I didn't understand why they didn't both plan to move upstairs to the nicer unit and rent out the less updated one, fixing it up over time as the rental income came in. The downstairs unit was certainly livable and I don't think tenants would be very fussy about finishes, etc. so the rent charged would reflect that. Later on they could move downstairs once they got things updated to their standards. I was also amazed at the price of housing in Springfield MA!

  12. I found Shawn and Astrid in Florida pretty insufferable. He just came across as a real know-it-all (and I was distracted by his red under eye "bags".) Her emphatic "We've worked hard and we're going to get what we want" didn't seem to jibe with their ($ 275K?) budget. But what else is new...
