And it is very jarring for me to hear Sheldon reference his father in such a way that doesn't line up with the father I'm seeing on Young Sheldon.

I guess we are supposed to hand-wave Sheldon as an unreliable narrator, but his mother made very similar comments on BBT.  I don't watch much Young Sheldon, but I basically pretend it is a different show when I stumble across an episode.

  2. I had to sit with this episode for a bit.

    I love Sassy.

I don’t care enough about Nate to wish for a redemption arc.  Seeing his bumbling did nothing for me, though I did laugh at how hard it was for him to get to the Believe sign.  They kept showing his Lego piece on Ted’s and Henry’s construction set; that plus the guys talking about how he should be angry at Nate gives me hope that Ted will finally be able to address him and walk away.

Keeley confuses me right now.  I loved her relationship with Roy and the team.  Surrounding her with all these new people and dumping Shandy on her is making her measurably less interesting to me.

Michelle should have tried to apologize.  Then Ted could have stopped her to continue his monologue and hung up.  Having her just sit there while he spoke wasn’t a good look.

Rebecca pulling Rupert aside to tell him to do better by Bex and Diane is already growth.  As Ted said, “She’s already won.”  Of course he ignored her.

Already eagerly awaiting the next episode!

Well now I feel dumb!  With the recent death of Judy Farrell it was mentioned that she played Nurse Able on MASH.  Finally, after how many years??, the penny dropped and I figured if they had a Nurse Able and a Nurse Baker  did they have a Nurse Charlie?  Why yes they did (google confirmed that one).   This was done quite deliberately to give generic names to minor nurse characters.  I honestly never picked up on that before!

    I never noticed that either!!

Ross was unemployed for a year and not once did it ever come up that he was having issues with money.

That’s because Ross followed his dad’s instruction to put 10% of each paycheck in the bank.

  5. Did she get the magazine article before or after the Banter $?  It sounds like she was a pretty famous “influencer” who modeled and was very noticed at all the right things.  Then she starts getting this relegated team noticed and the players all sorts of stuff, enough to get a big time article about her published.  I guess I can imagine the backers wanting to back the “it” girl.

I would think someone wanting to invest a ton of money in a PR business would need to see more experience than that when picking a CEO.

I thought that was the point of the snow globe loving CFO:  Keeley is the figurehead and other woman actually runs the business. It could be better developed, though.

  7. The part that never made sense was that Ross was able to move on from Rachel with pretty good relationships (see Julie, Emily, Mona, even Bonnie).  I don’t know why she couldn’t let go (other than the writers loving the angst).  In real life I think they would have gotten back to and just remained friends after the first breakup.

  8. I thought the breakup was a little out of the blue, but don’t blame him for doing so.  They aren’t ready.

As much as he wants her to understand he’s been living this forever, he needs to understand that she hasn’t.  Of course she is obsessed with the past right now.

  9. The chef said the matchbooks were a surprise, but I wondered if the surprise was that she ordered them or that they arrived in time.

I’ve watched the episode twice now, and it isn’t clear if the chef is a love interest or relative.  I hope it’s the former, but I think they carefully played it so that she might be family.

  10. I think there is a difference between knowing your wife is dating a guy named Jake and knowing your wife is dating the guy you paid to help save your marriage who then strongly encouraged you to give her space.  I was surprised that his panic attack disappeared so quickly when Zava scored.  Can that actually happen?

  11. I hope the psychic bit is just how you can start believing things they say rather than the psychic is right.  She is putting meaning into the matchbook (are those still big souvenirs?) only because of the psychic.  I hope she just uses that half session to take control of her life rather than act like it’s happening because the psychic said so.

Zava says he is open to Ted’s coaching, and I loved his calling Will out as the most important team member.  I’m hoping he becomes integrated into the team, and their winning without him is due to injury rather than his flaking.

  12. I think it is very crappy that Michelle didn’t give Ted a heads up about dating their marriage counselor, especially with him spending so much time with Henry.

Trent doesn’t write a column anymore.  I know Colin isn’t ready to be public, but Trent’s nowhere near publishing.  I am hoping that this turns out not to be a big deal in the premier league.

Roy and Jamie continue to be delightful together.  I also liked Zava’s and Roy’s head nods of respect.

More Doc Sharon please!  She can take Shandy’s screen time.

  13. Continuing In the Shadow of Two Gunmen and my dislike of Donna, her speech when she finally gets to the hospital annoys me (shocking, I know).  When she blathers on about how hard it was to get into the hospital, I wanted Sam or Toby to be sarcastic in telling her how sorry they were that she was having such a bad day.

  14. The neighbor doesn’t bother me as much as she seems to for everyone else.  I can see Alice spending time with her because she has been the one motherly constant for her in her grief.  Her world revolved around Alice for that year.  Is she someone I would want to hang out with?  Nope, but then none of them are (with the exception of Paul’s doctor as she’s been portrayed so far).

It's not the first time for a 1-seed free tournament.  It's been a long time.

    Gotta go back to 1979

I read this, and my first thought was, “I remember 1979 and that wasn’t a long time ago.”  Then I did the math and am now having a bit of an existential crisis.  Thanks, Carey.  I forgot I was old for just a minute.

  16. Husband and I met in late 90’s and he had a pager.  Then blackberry.  Then iPhone.

I still remember how long it took me to get a cell phone because I was just incredulous at the sales pitch.  How could this possibly work?  Then  I thought I had to have a phone first so bought a used one and then sought service.  I didn’t understand till way too many months later why the sales guy looked at me strangely when I pulled out my huge phone rather than let him “give” me their latest model.

Rebecca's end goal was to hurt Rupert, but her way of doing so was essentially to destroy a business; not great obviously, but no one would have been personally hurt by it.

The people who would lose their jobs after the business failed would be personally hurt. I would say Rebecca was thoughtless about the collateral damage in her quest to hurt Rupert while Nate deliberately and cowardly punched down.

  18. I am equal parts annoyed and devastated by this episode.  You could see it coming, but I really didn’t want it to be Kat on the road.  Her silent scream did me in.

Why does Del keep getting angry when Kat figures out Colton wasn’t a bad guy?  I’m sick of her insisting the worst of him.

Elliot’s big speech wasn’t wrong, but came a little out of nowhere for me.

  19. So much to love!

    I want to sour-yell someone.
I loved getting a hint of Rebecca’s backstory. So happy Trent is back.  Coach Beard’s yell was awesome!

That was the most firm I can remember seeing Ted, which will come in handy (I hope) as he deals with Zava.  I think he’s going to need the heavier hand.  Remember in the first season when Ted was trying to reunite Roy and Jamie at the gala and talked to Roy about being an upstart who disrespected the veteran?  I wonder if that will now pass to Jamie and Zava and Jamie has to be the veteran.

Keeley said the team financing Bantr were funding her PR Group.  Since they sponsor Richmond, I assume Rupert can’t be behind them.  Though it could be fun that he is shown to be the main guy and gets banned from football ownership for having financial interests in two teams.
