I believe that incident was off the field and she had her back turned to him and didn’t see him coming. Can I get an affirmation from some others who were on the site when it actually happened? I have slept since then so perhaps I have remembered it incorrectly.

Yeah that's what happened. I'm confused about why they were dancing during a play and had their backs to the field. But really this happens all the time during games and if you're on the sidelines you need to be aware of the play to avoid it. It won't let me post a link but if you just search "Jason Witten runs into a cheerleader" it comes right up.

ETA: I want to clarify that players run out of bounds all the time and anyone--not just the cheerleaders--needs to be aware of what's happening.

Looks like Dayton will be bridesmaid for Sam Finglass wedding. But on her (Dayton) instagram, Sam was saying “I’m so excited that I get to do this with y’all and it’s” she then says something that I’ve no idea what because it sounds like she’s mumbling the following words. Can someone tell me what she said, if anyone can translate that mumbling. Thanks.

Not sure the deal but she sounds like she didn’t want to do that speech or be there or something

It sounded like "we've been dreaming about this day for so long and it's finally here" or something to that effect. Now I'm wondering when her wedding is and how Kelli is going to work it around training camp.

Mystery question: Does the DCC truly believe and start every season thinking they will cheer at the Superbowl?

Setting aside the 27th year tragedy that happened this past Sunday, they would have faced a team that is- 14-3...And they seldom have home field advantage... when does the mystery end and logical realities set in ?

They're the cheerleaders for the team. If they started the season assuming the team is going to lose that would be pretty sad. Or at the very least horrible optics if it got out. Although I think it's just "keep these dates free" level of assumption until they get further into the season. A few years ago (back when Danielle and Jenna were on the team) and the Cowboys were having a really good season, a local newscaster was at one of the practices and went live and Judy was saying how they had just sat down and planned out their schedule for the offseason.

Season 7 Episode 6.  Chelsea should have been cut right then and there rather than "talking  her way out" of the office.  Wondering if she was kept for "drama" and they knew they might end up cutting her the next season?

I think Kelli really liked her. She sort of looked like her daughter (and I think they became friends), and they liked her sob stories too.

Wondering why they are doing this. As much as a fan this is fun to watch, I bet normal people who don't care about the cheerleaders aren't that thrilled to have a lot of "old" ex cheerleaders taking up time. They want to see the sexy young girls rather than the not so not people...

The current squad was out there the whole time dancing each section with the alums. And really nobody cares about halftime. I’ve been to plenty of NFL games and I don’t even remember there being any halftime shows, other than when I went to the NFC championship game in Seattle and Alice In Chains played.

Another question related to the DCC work load vs College work load a few weeks back: One thing that has always puzzled me is this:

Usually there isn't that much activity around colleges and universities during summer. The year wraps up in June with the last papers and/or exams. Then there's nothing until the beginning of September (at least that's the case here in Europe) Unless you flunked a test, there really isn't much going on those months. So those in training camp should be fine (apart from maybe the first 2 weeks, which aren't that busy anymore either)

So, I could never quite understand the issues with college and TCC, but maybe the situation in the US is different from Europe? If so, please enlighten me. Also, I understood that after TC, the schedule isn't that demanding anymore with only a few practices a week and the performances? That should be doable right?

It’s probably not impossible, but if you’re carrying a full load of classes and getting a decent grades matters to you it’s probably very difficult to juggle both, and you’d basically have no free time. It’s also more than just rehearsals. The beauty appointments alone would take up a good chunk of time plus expectations for working out and practicing on your own. And most US colleges are on the semester system and start in August, so there would be overlap with camp. I’ve always wondered how they swing the calendar shoot with school.

Kelli talks into her phone to make/give notes to the TCCs. Is there an app that types up and creates the messages, or that done manually by someone? Asking for a friend...😁

I’m studying for a professional certification test right and I open my Notes app and use voice to text to take notes on my reading. Then I email them to myself and paste them into a Word document. I don’t know if voice to text was a thing when Kelli was doing it but I’m sure there are other transcription options.

And I'm not trying to dog on her at all, but photos like this make me wonder if any of the dancers have ever had a wardrobe malfunction.  They must really trust those bras and blouses.

On the America’s Girls podcast one of the women who was interviewed said that her nipple came out once during a game and security went to the photographer who was right in front of her and demanded his film.

Kitty was physically and emotionally abusive in different scenes over the years. She literally pushed girls, grabbed them aggressively and humiliated them in front of the entire group. I know a dance instructor has to be tough but Kitty crossed the line too many times.

I also never liked the makeover scenes in the early years where Kelly and the stylist would stand there and talk about drastic, unfavorable changes like cutting long hair off into a bob or dying hair black, and then Rainer says but what if we tell you you won't make the team if you don't do this? And then they laugh because it's a big joke and the girl in the chair is horrifed. That episode with Olivia Stevanovsky was on yesterday. It also reminds me of when they gave Taylor Lowery Meagan Sharp's haircut and she hated it. These types of things always rubbed me the wrong way. Improving appearance is one thing but totally changing appearances when it isn't what the girl really wants is another.

I think they used to be even more cavalier regarding changing looks to have the squad look how they wanted. Meredith Oden mentioned that they made her wear blue contact because they already had a redhead with green eyes. A cheerleader named Michelle Parma who was on the squad in the mid 90s was on Road Rules on MTV right after she retired as a DCC. She was on a season of the Challenge a few years later and said she had hated being a redhead while she on the show, and I assume she been made to do it by K+J. (She also said she had a very bad eating disorder, but that’s a discussion for another day.)

I think it is because TPTB want to be able to pitch whatever they have filmed right now to Netflix/Hulu/Disney+etc. Right now one of there big problems with putting out long form content like the show is that the "rights" and "concepts" the show can legal be called into question for a copy right case. Look at the MTT tiktok account! The network is able to repost clips from the past 16 seasons of the show because it is all edited footage that MTV/Paramount owns. It has MILLIONS of views and years of the show existing so they can/will continue to make money from past seasons. TPTP probably still get *some* money from the show itself but don't have control because it is the network's social media. The network's social media doesn't make a lot a money but it does pull its viewers to watch the show, and with no new season to come *yet* they go back to-you guessed it-the network owned older seasons which makes them some money. The Cowboys can't post that kind of content that was aired on the show because it's "not there IP". So in order to put out content for the fan while still trying to hold out to possibly sign with a Netflix type they have to make weird stutter steps like this.

This is a really interesting point that brings up a question for me. Say they get a new network/streaming service to air the show. Would they have to pay to use older footage? I could see that being a con for picking it up.

I’ve had the Pluto DCC channel on as background noise today and I’ve caught a few early appearances of our favorites — ones where they didn’t even make finals.

So I was wondering… Has there ever been someone who didn’t make it past prelims on their first try who eventually made it to finals or even training camp?

I’m not sure how far Melissa W made it her first year auditioning but she didn’t make camp.

I was watching one of the videos that DCC put up with perhaps a collection of girls being called at finals for making it to training camp. It was Alexandria, the former Patriots cheerleader.  In the talking head she says this will determine whether she returns to the east coast or moves to Texas FOR THE SUMMER. Not the year but just a season, only to get the skinny for how they run the camp & then hop back to the east coast without a backwards glance.

If she had said "for the year" she would have been called out for assuming she was going to the make the team.

The only thing that puzzles me is the day CMT announced this, the Dallas papers and TV said that they were in negotiations with other platforms, so it makes me think this was not a surprise to DCC.

The Texas Monthly article came out on a Thursday, and it said the crew had been informed earlier that week. As far as I know the article was the first the public was made aware.  The author contacted Kelli but didn’t get a response, so they knew the news was coming out. I don’t think CMT ever released anything.
