  1. I really liked this episode. Jo's scenes were fantastic, easily my favorite - Camilla has grown so much as an actress since she joined the show. She's really done some great work the past few seasons. I'm glad they didn't just send Jo to treatment offscreen and have her come back "healed". Coming back from depression is an ongoing struggle, and this was a nice way to give us a peak into her treatment and show us how she continues to work on herself. The last scene with her and Alex was great. I also enjoy the Bailey/Jo dynamic. Very glad that Ben was happy about the baby announcement, but add me to the list of those who are concerned about the pregnancy. I'm not nearly as annoyed by Meredith's storyline as some here seem to be. She's... literally just being Meredith. GRANTED, that in itself can be frustrating, but I think it's very in-character to focus only on what she thinks is right (exposing issues in the medical community, staying by her daughter's side, etc.) while totally ignoring the consequences. She's always been reckless. I like that DeLuca is noticing it and struggling with it - his dad is wildly reckless, and he perhaps sees some of that in Mer now. I also like that Meredith has vocalized that, despite DeLuca being kind, and hot, and good with her kids, he may not be anything more than that. In that case, it probably isn't fair that she keeps him in a relationship. The one thing I miss is seeing Meredith in the OR. It feels very strange not having her operate for so many episodes in a row. The scene with the sisters was good, but Maggie needs to get the fuck over Jackson. I liked that Richard's scenes ended with him telling Gemma that her behaviour wasn't sober behaviour. I wonder if she's off the wagon or just really struggling. I wish he'd have just talked to his wife at the end of the episode, though.
  2. Kelly McCreary's sister will be guest-starring in episode 7 as Richard's niece.
  3. Episode 7 has Amelia & Owen working on a patient together, so either Amelia is at Pac-Gen or Owen is back at GSM in record time.
  4. Sounds like Kate Walsh is still in talks to potentially return for an episode or small arc this season.
  5. From the looks of his Instagram (as well as Jake Borelli's, etc.) it seems that the doctor they introduced very briefly two weeks ago as Koracick's protege will start appearing a lot more. He's played by Devin Way.
  6. 16x06 is a Halloween episode (and airs on Halloween). Looks like a mostly 'fun' episode - Alex finds bones buried on the grounds of Pac-Gen during some construction, even as he tries to court investors; Teddy scrambles to make costumes for Leo and Allison, Meredith worries she won't be home in time for trick-or-treating, etc. I hear they're going for some big cliffhangers with 16x08, the mid-season finale.
  7. I echo the sentiment of loving Amelia & Link. He's the best new addition to the show in ages. It's so refreshing to see a couple actually discuss their fears, worries, issues, etc. And I like that they're not suddenly all in - they're pensive, nervous, but cautiously excited. It's really fun to watch. Amelia is so much more enjoyable when she isn't with Owen. Don't care about Jackson/Vic/Maggie at all. Maggie needs to get the fuck over Jackson and get a new storyline, stat. Are they going to have Richard have (another) affair!? The ending sure seemed to hint at that. Once a cheater... I don't mind Meredith/DeLuca nearly as much as y'all seem to, but I'm also not in love with the story. Meredith is just such a great character that he feels a bit... bland. I'm fine with them staying together as long as they continue to give Meredith other interesting stuff to do outside of the relationship. It looks like the piece she's publishing will get her in hot water with GSM next week, so that could be an interesting turn. I want a better story for Koracick, too. He was so great when he was introduced, but if they're only going to use him as a foil for Owen then I'm really disappointed. He's way too charming and funny to be just a thorn in Owen's side. I also think he was so layered in his relationship with April and that feels like it's missing - I want to see more sides of him now that he's a regular. I've enjoyed these first 3 episodes but it also feels like they need a major shakeup / something exciting to happen soon.
  8. SpoilerTV reports with with Live+7 (aka DVR playback for 7 days), Grey's moves up to the #2 scripted series on all of broadcast for premiere week, tied with 9-1-1 and just behind This Is Us. It is ABC's #1 program, scripted or otherwise.
  9. Jo's flashbacks will be trigged by a patient coming into GSM who she spent time with in treatment. In that same episode, Meredith is in trouble for missing some of her community service hours. It sounds like 16x05 will be a 'bubble' of sorts featuring stories for Jo/Bailey, Meredith, and Richard/Gemma only.
  10. As of episode 4, Meredith still isn't working at the hospital/is doing community service, and Alex and Richard are still working at Pac-Gen North. I'm guessing Meredith's 'trial' over her medical license will come to a head around episode 8 (the mid-season finale) and the Alex/Richard story will last at-least as long. I'm actually excited about Richard and Alex sharing a bunch of scenes over the first half of the season.
  11. I thought the scene with Alex and Jo telling each other their fears in the premiere was great, so if it's more stuff like that then I'd be happy to see it. I do think too many shows approach depression as something that can be cured with a magic wand, so I'm interested in them trying to shed a bit more light on the treatment if it's done well. Also, Krista mentioned earlier this summer that they'd be approaching their 'bottle' episodes more like "One Day Like This" which featured 3 storylines (Meredith/April/Owen & Teddy) rather than ones we saw last season (the Amelia/Link episode), so I'd bet the Jo flashbacks won't take up an entire episode.
  12. An upcoming episode will feature flashbacks to Jo's treatment. From TV Guide: "We had her in inpatient treatment for 30 days in the premiere; we didn't spend a ton of time there. So, we do have an episode coming up in the first quarter of the season where we flash back and tell a little bit more of the story of her time there which I think will be really cool and interesting for the fans to see," showrunner Krista Vernoff told TV Guide. "I think it's really significant and important right now, in the world, to talk about mental health and the different ways that we can treat it, treat a health crisis, a mental health crisis." Also, I think it's safe to assume that the former star they were trying to court was Kate Walsh for Amelia's pregnancy storyline.
  13. Looks like Bustle published a piece a bit early after viewing the premiere screener: they seem to confirm that Jackson and Maggie break up in 16x01 AND that Jackson has sex with Vic from Station 19.
  14. They hardly made a big deal of it, Krista literally mentioned that it was a possiblity to one outlet and didn't name the actor specifically because she said there was a chance it wouldn't happen ("it's a real maybe.") This is pretty common in the TV world. See: The Good Fight trying but failing to book Julianna Margulies. Krista was even honest about trying to book Sara for the season 14 finale but it not working out. It happens all the time. Not sure how it makes anyone look like an idiot.
  15. Per TVLine, the major return didn't work out. "A deal couldn't be reached." Guess we'll never know who it was gonna be.
  16. It's back to Thursdays on CTV in Canada now that The Big Bang Theory is over.
  17. dddd it's funny how at odds the promo department is with those doing the press releases. While the press release for 16x01 wastes no time revealing that Jackson is fine (which was obvious given that Jesse Williams signed a 2-year deal over the summer), the new extended promo still tries to convince audiences that he may be dead/in peril.
  18. Krista is now referring to this as 'the season of consequences', saying a lot of the themes for the first half of the season come from the idea of 'what happens after a rom-com ends?' It's also been announced that Debra Jo Rupp ("That 70's Show") will have a guest arc in the first half of the season. 16x01 - "Nothing Left to Cling To" - Meredith, Richard and Alex must deal with the consequences after Bailey fires them from Grey Sloan for insurance fraud. After disappearing in the fog, Jackson helps a man in a dangerous situation, as his relationship with Maggie comes to a new crossroad. Meanwhile, Tom gets new responsibilities at the hospital that throw the doctors for a loop. Guest starring: Debbie Allen as Catherine Fox, Alex Landi as Nico Kim, Sophia Ali as Dahlia Qadri and Stefania Spampinato as Carina DeLuca. 16x02 - "Back in The Saddle" - The Grey Sloan doctors operate on a man who crashed into Maggie’s car. Owen, back from paternity leave, struggles with Tom’s new position. Outside the hospital, Meredith’s recent firing doesn’t stop her from diagnosing those around her. Plus, Richard and Alex start anew and it’s not easy. All the while, Jo readies herself to return to work, and Amelia has a new revelation in her relationship with Link. Guest starring: Jason George as Ben Warren, Sophia Ali as Dahlia Qadri, Jaicy Elliot as Taryn Helm and Cleo King as Robin. 16x03 - "Reunited" - A patient at the hospital is brain dead after falling into a construction site, and her two sisters (Alyssa Milano and Holly Marie Combs) must decide whether or not to keep her alive.
  19. Some tidbits about upcoming episodes: - The premiere picks up immediately after the finale and then spans 4 weeks. - Koracick is taking on a "new role" at the hospital. - Owen takes a paternity leave and returns to work in episode 2. Jo is also preparing to return to work in episode 2. - Gemma (Jasmine Guy), the alcoholic patient who fell off the wagon last season and had a past with Richard, is going to recur this year.
  20. TVLine confirms that Katherine is NOT the actor being pursued to return.
  21. Looks like there will be a time jump in the premiere. Krista revealed that the Grey's/S19 crossover couple will be revealed in the premiere. In that case, it almost certainly has to be Koraick and someone from Station 19, as I doubt they'd break up Jackson/Maggie or Schmitt/Nico offscreen. There really isn't anyone else in the main cast that's single.
  22. 14x17 is one of my favorite episodes of the series, certainly of the last several seasons. I'm excited at the prospect of them approaching the standalone episodes like that more often. The single-character episodes can be great (Jo's episode was the best of season 15, and Amelia's was a lot of fun), but if they focus on 3 characters/stories rather than just one, at least none of the audience will be isolated (ie. if you don't like Teddy, you can still enjoy stories for Meredith + Alex in that episode).
  23. Some very (very) minor hints from James Pickens. It sounds like, at least for a while, Meredith, Alex, and Richard will actually not be working at GSM. "Obviously, my character and [Meredith] and Alex, we've been fired now, so that's presenting a whole new set of issues, especially for Dr. Webber. It's going to test some of his stuff." For Webber, being fired by his former protege, Miranda Bailey, from Grey Sloan was a huge move, one Pickens Jr. said wasn't shocking to him from a creative standpoint. "It made perfect sense," he explained. "If someone was going to fire me, [it had to be] Bailey, who I mentored. But it sets up for some really fascinating and really funny and timely storytelling moving forward. I'm excited to see where it takes us all." So what is Grey Sloan without the trio of longtime docs gracing its hallowed halls? "It's going to test everybody, the folks who remain at Grey Sloan and our characters who now have to look into new territory and figure out what's the next step of my career and my life. That's going to be what the audience is really going to take a hold of." With Webber no longer at the hospital, Pickens Jr. addressed whether this could be the season his character may be hanging up his doctor's coat for good and retire from practicing medicine, something the former Chief of Surgery made plans to do since early in the show's run. "We don't know yet," he said with a smile, "but he's kind of the glue that kind of holds everything together. This will be interesting for him. It'll test his relationships, it'll test his sobriety to some extent." Also, the series will celebrate the landmark 350th episode in November.
  24. Shonda is still Shonda. Even if she's moved onto Netflix, she will still always have veto power when it comes to the goings on at Grey's Anatomy. Plus, I doubt Krista would try to do anything that Shonda explicitly doesn't want to happen. They clearly have a great working relationship, and she's now running two Shonda-created series. So unless Shonda changes her mind and has eased up on her issues with Katherine, I don't think we'll see ever see Izzie return.
  25. I don't think they'd do a love triangle even if they did bring Izzie back (which is highly unlikely). Alex hasn't seen her in 10 years, she isn't going to show up and pull him away from his wife. If anything it'd just be nice for them to get some closure, for her to have a conversation with Meredith, etc. They could do a story where her cancer has returned and she comes to GSM because she trusts the doctors there. Regardless, Krista basically confirmed that she wanted Katherine back for the 300th but Shonda shut it down so... I wouldn't count on that. I'd say Callie or Addison are the most likely to return for a brief arc, or even just an episode. Krista also mentioned there that this season doesn't really have a singular theme but then refers to family being a big theme. The historied relationships are the strongest part of the show at this point, so I'd love to see more exploration of Meredith and her children, Maggie/Richard, Richard/Meredith and maybe Alex and Jo discussing starting a family. I'd love to see more of Amelia's mom, too.
