no it's not. even though the next person (whomever they may be) might not win a medal, where Jordan may have won one - that person being in the All Around Finals helps development in their sport for their country, may ensure funding in their sport if they do well and inspire future gymnasts in their country. Which is so incredibly important. Which means maybe a few years from now. Betty Mactwisterson and that country could have a chance to contend for medals. Maybe. Who knows. but it's stll important. A crap tonne of sports have a 2 person only rule in an event and a team is super deep so someone has to not compete or eliminated by their own countrymen (Some events even have a 1 person only and it's the same). and the US is so strong. even if it was 3 people per country - people would still fuss that the 4th person was so much better than whoever else qualified maybe they should reconsider. (which i've seen people argue).

CBC i'm sure there is a reason why there is no commentary on the 3 Day Event.

OH not again. :( I will say - really that while i will always love gymnastic, i'm just prepared to just ... not enjoy it this Olympiad again. I figure let me say it now, and get it out of the way then we can just continue the discussion and cheer on everyone lol. I really [still, and forever, thanks Nellie Kim] just don't like how it looks and just more emphasized on the BIG SKILLS vs. the technical/artisty side. (i kinda just want it to be a blend like it used to be). I don't know what was going on w/the drone thing regarding Canada's Soccer team, but FIFA has banned the head coach (and 2 of her assistants) for 1 year of anything coaching related and 6 point penalty to Canada. to which I have to say that one is a bit excessive. since the drama was against NZ, and Canada beat them. just give NZ the 3 points. now Canada has to go perfect. and they still might not be able to move on. Which if that is the case - then you should simply just eliminate them. drawing it out is what bugs me.

that's fair. I'm really glad you liked this one. For me. Beijing was one of my favourites. It just felt like a great production. Athens and London as well. for me this was very disjointed, and ill practiced. (probably because they had said they didn't?) I do blame a lot of this on the CBC Coverage. (I don't like Andi Petrillio as an Opening Ceremony host, and the people who were with her just... didn't have that gravitas. (for me). I'm old fashioned and I don't like change but give me Bob Costas and Katie Couric [NBC} & Brian Williams and Scott Russell [CBC] every day and it just feels a lot more crisper. like i said early this afternoon. these ceremonies I don't think i'd actually like go on youtube and try to watch it again (like i do with really old ones when i feel EXTRA Olympic Nostaglia-y). but the Cauldron. that is new and cool

there are some people who are saying this is the best opening ceremonies ever. and i am like. i respect people's things even though i don't get it but i don't even think....this is the best I also see people going why are people grouching that it was too long it's 1 every 4 years but ...long is long? it just felt that some bits could have been condensed. (like the horse ride. that was captivating .. then it stopped being captivating and it was just drawn out)

On a scale of 1 to Barcelona Archer: i'd say this is like a 4, 5. (+1 modifier for Celine and being REALLY Unique). on the list of Best Ceremonies... it's pretty low for me. I DID like the boat idea. in practice
