  1. That Shark in the Water clip really helped build buzz for that season, which paid off with a strong group of early episodes. I hope this year's video can have a similar impact.

Speaking of videos, the other day the official Degrassi YouTube page posted a clip of cast members playing Musical Chairs. There's nothing particularly remarkable about the clip (other than just how many skinny people are on this show), but I can't help but notice that this group will now be the core of the cast as the seniors graduate.

  2. Well, I do love me some dead people lined up...that was actually kinda nice.  I would concur that Sarah B was a wee bit off with the song, but it was a nice selection.

I'll take that over what they did at the Oscars with Bette Midler as that segment became more about her than the people who passed away.

I enjoyed Billy's tribute, but I can't help but think they should have done one for James Garner too, and truth be told, other people would have over very legitimate choices for ones to single out. Still, Billy's tribute was lovely and you could tell he had a hard time getting through it.

Although I will admit that not having a clip from Mork and Mindy during the segment seemed strange, given that this is a TV awards show.

  3. I find Miles to be pretty much insufferable, so I'm not going to be thrilled if the early part of the season is going to have a heavy focus on him and his relationship with Tristan (another character I'm not a fan of).

The little bit with Becky and Luke is still easily the most interesting part of these two promos.

Oh and I guess we know who got Clare pregnant, as if there was much doubt.

  4. I loved a lot of Robin Williams' earlier work, but I have to admit that I had kind of gotten over him for a while there. I loved him and the way he interacted with his fellow cast members on this show, though. It was this show that reignited my appreciation of Williams, and for that I'll forever be grateful to this very enjoyable and cancelled too soon gem of a show.

He made our lives a lot better with his gift. I can only hope he's finally found a little bit of peace.

  5. My first thought after watching the Into the Woods trailer was that there was a time I would have loved the idea of Meryl Streep and Johnny Depp being in a movie together.

But, that was a long time ago.

Birdman, on the other hand, looks like it could be great and Michael Keaton could be in line for some awards recognition. That would make me very happy.

  6. I guess it's time for this forum to have a spoiler thread, and it starts with a doozy. The idiots at TeenNick (always good for at least one major fuck up a year) accidentally posted their recap of the finale on their site. They've since taken it down, but of course not before some people got it saved with all the details. Below is one such person, and although they don't have any of the pictures, I have seen one of Tristan and Miles kissing floating around the net.

Well, if nothing else, at least we know the season will end on a big laugh.

  7. I've actually been watching The Rockford Files here and there in recent weeks. Those still hold up incredibly well, and Garner proves to be an amazingly charismatic lead. He'll always be Rockford first and foremost to me, but he had such a wonderful career, in both movies and TV. A true legend.

Oh and it turns out he won 2 Purple Hearts and was married to the same woman for 58 years.

    What a loss. RIP.

  8. They were in the How Bizarre/My Hero block (Drew interrupted a Dallas/Alli-Connor/Jenna double date at the Dot), but I don't think they've been seen since. With the big cast, sometimes cast members will disappear for a few episodes.

F you Tristian, Degrassi season 8 was good. So sick of everyone hating on it, it was a rebuilding year and the old cast HAD TO GO. Ugh. Anyway.

He should have been saying that about Seasons 5 and 6. The show almost didn't survive those.

  9. I love Margo on the show, and her nomination is well earned, but her being the only nomination is just the laziest thing these bastards could do. I can almost see them now- "oh, we gave her award once and I've never seen the show, but I'm sure she's good in it, so I'm going to check my box besides her name."  It would have been almost better for them to have a complete shut out.

  10. I'm laughing about Fred Armisen nominated as supporting actor in Portlandia. He's in every scene. I understand why anyone would want to avoid the lead categories but really?

The academy has this stupid rule that if you're a cast member of a sketch show you can only be submitted in the Supporting categories, which is why Amy Schumer was on the Supporting Actress ballot even though her name is in the title of her show. Stupid rule.

Earlier in the thread I mentioned that I would be mad on Emmy nomination day about the lack of nominations for The Americans, and I still am, but I had such little hope for anything that it's hard for me to work up the energy to get too pissed off when I knew it probably never had a shot. The same is true with Tatiana Maslany, I wish it wasn't that way, though.

I am very happy with all the nominations for Fargo. I also liked that Silicon Valley got a Best Comedy nomination, especially since one of the shows it beat out was Girls.

  11. Drew really is one unlucky dope. But not the brightest bulb in the world either. It can be fun at times watching him screw things up and this was that for the most part.

I did love the stuff with Dallas and Drew, and the little interaction with Drew and Frankie was great too.

Drew and Clare? Just have that long talk already and then move on to the relationship. And Jenna and Alli....what is it with people picking up other people's phones on this show? It drives me nuts.

Zig thinking he could walk in and start actually having real responsibility in a high end restaurant was all kinds of hilarious. I did like the rubber room scene, even if Grace was there to know it all again.

That scene at the dinner table was very tense. It's one of those scenes where you can understand where everyone is coming from, even if in the case of the parents, you'd hope they'd be more supportive of their daughter. I wish we had seen more of the family dynamic, but I have a feeling that's coming, if not the next episode, then down the line.

I was glad to see some Becky/Imogen scenes. It had been a little while since we've seen stuff with those two. The online game stuff was okay, and it did make some sense that Becky would want an escape. I did get a kick out of Becky picking a yellow dress, like there was ever any doubt.

For those wanting to know who Becky's online prince is the TeenNick sneak peek  gives away the answer.

  12. The E Street Band got inducted through the Award for Musical Excellence category, which is what the R&R HoF is calling their sidemen category these days. Also, the people that got inducted were those that were in the band in the 70's and 80's.

The R&R HoF does have a strange record on who does and doesn't get inducted from bands, with Bob Welch and Fleetwood Mac being a prime example.

I haven't had a chance to watch this yet. Maybe I'll pull it up On Demand this weekend.

  13. Gotta give it to Jack, she's been on the show all of 15 minutes and she nailed Clare when she told her she's obsessed with guys. We'll see where this plot goes, but for now, I'll just say I liked that we got to see more of Jack.

I wish we had seen a little more from Frankie's point of view, but it's not hard to buy that she would have harbored a little bit of a crush on her brother's best friend. Andre and Sara play well off each other and have nice chemistry, so I'm good with how this played out.

Maya, wow, that really was a dumb move. And the way she kept him from going at the end by kissing him? One could argue that will turn out to be another form of her leading him on. I hope not. I do love them together, but yikes, that really was a cluster fuck of a move.

So we found out that Zig got taken into the gang after he was thrown out. We still don't know why he got thrown out.

Not too happy with another black guy being a gang member. I hope they don't turn Tiny into a straight up bad guy as I really like him and I hope to see more of him, especially next season.

Is there anything Grace doesn't know? I like her, but that scene with her explaining the gangs was absurd.

This is my first post on this forum. I guess I wanted to wait to TWoP officially closed before completing the move. It's good to see some familiar names here. Looking forward to posting more.
