  1. I just began binge watching Hallmark Christmas movies. Last night, I watched Christmas Town and all I could think of is if Lauren’s dad had all that time to write letters to her, why didn’t he have time to make sure she was with a family? The plot holes are amazing.
  2. Heathen, I have come out of lurkdom to say that is the most accurate description of Macomb County I have ever heard. May I use it? On topic - Jessa should keep her day job - she’s not a decorator.
  3. The pot roast recipe is just gross. If you are using bullion cubes, you should add water to it. Also, it shouldn’t take 10 to 12 hours to cook, more like 5 or 6. And, before you put the pot roast in the crockpot, you should trim the excess fat off the roast. I have to say, though, Jill’s recipes are a lot like my late mother-in-law’s - overcooked and weirdly seasoned.
  4. It is interesting how wedding receptions differ in various parts of the country. I am from the midwest and every wedding reception I have attended, with the exception of one, a meal was provided, and usually hors d’oerves with a cocktail hour. The first time I heard about a “nuts and punch” reception was from a neighbor. She said her and her husband had one because she saved herself for marriage and wanted to get out of the reception quickky (sounds familiar).
  5. If I see that quote attributing shootings in schools to God not being let in one more time, I think I will scream! Why do evangelicals believe God isn’t allowed in schools? He is allowed and can be discussed, and students and staff can pray; it just can’t be forced upon people. I am older - I remember not being able to wear pants to school; however, I don’t ever recall the 10 commandments or prayer being taught. I learned them in Sunday school or vacation bible school.
  6. The ACA allows adult children to stay on their parents’ health insurance until they are 26, even if married. Because Derrick was just starting out, he may have stayed on Cathy’s plan to save money, or she had a better plan. Since Derrick had the jaw re-alignment surgery after Izzy’s birth, that makes the most sense. He had the surgery before turning 26, so it would be covered under Cathy’s insurance, and they had medical bills to pay from Izzy’s birth because Jill and Izzy weren’t insured. I usually lurk on this forum because I find the Duggars to be so different from me, I find them fascinating and exasperating.
  7. New to this forum. Foghorn Leghorn mentioned Josh's apology to ward off a bigger story. I love to read blind items and to try and guess them. On Crazy Days and Nights there was a blind that highly suggested the Duggars. It was about a son-in-law sleeping with one of the sisters. The father was working hard to keep the story from the media. The post was from January. I wonder if this could be the bigger scandal? I have tried to find the blind item, but haven't been able to find it, yet.
