I like Cheyenne but no.
Agreed. Bo is better in small doses.

The irony being, he wasn't an aggressive play caller at all,
Panthers struggled his first couple of seasons there, and it was looking like he might get fired. So he started being less conservative, and at the same time, the team started winning. Once his job was secure, you only saw flashes of "Riverboat Ron" on occasion.

The variety article mentions it has not been doing good enough in ratings last season, so that is probably the reason.
Not sure I'm buying that, unless NBC is getting completely out of the sitcom business. Superstore has been their highest rated comedy of the past few years, and that includes Brooklyn 99 and The Good Place.
ETA: It will be interesting when we eventually find out the timeline of this decision. I have to think that, if they had known this would be the final season, they wouldn't have written out Amy in such a clumsy way.

Wow. That is a bummer. I felt like the show still had a couple of seasons left in it. Will miss this cast.

I don't have DIRECTV, I have AT&T tv. No NFL Network or Red Zone channel available.

Switched to AT&T TV this year, so no Red Zone. And I hate it.
What? Watch one game at a time? What is this, 2010? 😡

It's frustrating that Anna-Kat is so heavily featured in every episode of this season
I think she's clearly featured less than Julia Butters was. And she's tied to the hip with Franklin in nearly all of her scenes. It's like they've replaced Anna-Kat with Anna-Kat/Franklin.

Looks like no Christmas episodes this year:

Fun episode. Unlike last week, I didn't notice Amy's absence.
I liked the way they dialed back Mateo, and made him the voice of reason for Dina. Cheyenne seems a little less wacky, too. I guess when you lose one of your "straight men", you have to recalibrate some of the characters.

At the rate with so many people gone under various reasons. You do have to wonder if the show is going to make it much longer.
The ratings are still decent, and Covid has basically shut down the pipeline for pilot development. I would be very surprised if AH doesn't get a 7th season.

The new Anna-Kat is starting to click.
Agreed.
Was happily surprised to see Jim Rash at the breakfast place. I wonder if that's going to be an ongoing thing.
This was the 2nd episode where all 8 of the main characters were set in the Otto house. Seems like everyone is on top of each other. Makes me feel a little claustrophobic.

If Cheyenne is still with loser Beau years after the actor left the show,
The actor who plays Bo never left the show, because he was never a series regular. It's a recurring guest role.
He has appeared in multiple episodes during each of the previous 5 seasons.

I thought it was a funny episode, but I missed Amy more than I thought I would.
Not looking forward to the inevitable Garrett/Dina drama.

Well, they pretty much ripped out the hearts of all the Simmosa Stans, and showed it to them. Lots of angry Twitter and Facebook posts. A lot of "What was the point of these last 5 seasons, if you were just gonna break them up?" posts.
It is what it is. America Ferrera kinda painted the writers into a corner by making her announcement so late into Season 5. So they had to split them up.
For me this show was always much more than Jonah/Amy, so I don't think they need to add another love interest for Jonah. But they probably will.
And, in case anyone was wondering what the plan was before Covid hit, :
QuoteIf Amy’s exit had played out in season 5, “it was a less contentious, less dramatic version,” Feldman says. “It was more of a proposal. [The breakup] used to be about the proposal, not about moving. She senses he wants to get married, he senses from her that she’s not sure. She realizes—kind of the same way she was with moving—that that was ridiculous, and that she needs to just bite the bullet and do this. But at that point, the damage has already been done. And he kind of rejects her and then she goes off, it was somewhere in that world.”

I found new Anna Kat to be less distracting this week, which probably means I'm just getting used to her. I think it actually helps that the kid who plays Franklin has apparently entered his awkward/growth spurt phase, so he looks different, too.
Agreed that there was a lot of exposition casually thrown out in a few lines (Taylor college, lasagna business, Doris).
I laughed a few times, which is pretty much all I require at this point.

Why couldn't we get any of this drama while the game was being actually played?

I found the new Anna-Kat quite jarring. It kept taking me out of the episode
Every time she said a line, I immediately had a mental image of Julia Butters saying the same line. I guess that's how my brain works. Hopefully that goes away, because it is distracting.

As far as the Amy/Jonah storyline goes, the Covid shutdown might've actually helped. It would've been odd to see them split up, just one week after "California Pt. 1". But now, several months have transpired since then, in the show's universe. Feels a little more realistic.

Just got around to watching this. Weird watching a season premiere that felt more like a season finale. Anna Kat 2.0 seemed a little stiff, but I think she'll figure it out soon enough. The more Cooper, the better. Same goes for Trip. Enough with the YouTube guy.

I'm about three episodes behind, and didn't even realize the finale was last night. Shows how invested I am in this season.
