I wonder how far off America has been planning her exit, because it was only announced a few weeks ago. I wonder when this episode was filmed. I kind of got the the vibe that the cast members only found out fairly recently.
According to this article, the writers and actors found out the same day we did (just before the start of filming episode 19).
Maybe that's why last night's final scene felt a little "tacked on". To me, anyway.

Deadline and other news sites say the finale is confirmed to be April 23 https://deadline.com/2020/04/nbc-new-finales-seasons-cut-short-coronavirus-shutdown-indebted-1202899375/
Makes no sense to me.
There's one episode left. They're gonna make us wait 3 weeks to see it?

Shows like this, you watch the first time, but then in retrospect, you kind of wonder how the show lasted 8 years.
Given the underwhelming 9th season, I kinda wish it had only lasted 8 years.
Despite that, it was a show that my family & I really enjoyed. But I've never had the desire nor the inclination to revisit it via streaming or syndication.
As far as the progression of characters (or lack thereof), that seems to be something that a lot of sitcoms struggle with. "American Housewife" comes to mind.
It does suck that all the old Middle episode threads disappeared, because there was some great content here.

Congrats to Romo, I guess, but does he really add any eyeballs to the game?
Here's a conversation I've never had, with anyone:
Quote"Are you gonna watch the game later?"
"Depends. Who are the announcers?"

I hope Jonah goes with her.
Doubtful. The producers aren't gonna let Ben Feldman go anywhere. He's basically the 2nd lead character. If anything, he'll probably get a raise. He can continue to play the hipster d-bag, no matter who the boss is.
Looking back, it now seems pretty clear why they dialed back the Amy/Jonah romance this season.

Terrible news. While I never had any investment in the Jonah/Any relationship, I just can't imagine the show without America.
Sure, The Office continued after Steve Carell left. But it probably shouldn't have.

I love Adam Pally, but I couldn't make it through this.

when the INT by Mahomes at the 10 minute mark of the 4th Qtr and around 15 Niners rush to the end zone for a celebratory group pose, including apparently 4 or 5 players from the sidelines.
It occurred to none of them what an asshole hubristic move that was with the game’s outcome still in play and far from over?
Karma can be a bitch.
That's been happening all season long, with several teams. Every time someone makes a pick, the entire defense runs to the end zone and poses.
So yeah, dumb move by the 49ers, but it's becoming the norm.

Yeah, Keuchly's retirement was a shock, but Olsen leaving isn't. After the last game of the season, he sounded like a guy on his way out the door.
I guess Cam is the last remaining shoe to drop.

John Andretti has died.
This one hurts. After Davey Allison died, John became my favorite driver. And while the on-track results weren't always there, I was always proud to be a John Andretti fan, just because of the man he was. Godspeed, JA.

I respect your angle, but I stand by what I said. Amy has consistently shown an inability this season to effectively manage situations and stand up to her staff, from Dina to Jonah to the men chastising her while she was on the phone during the ridiculous #NotAllMen meeting.
Unfortunately, the "clueless boss" is a sitcom trope that writers still cling to.
A good comparison for Amy is Jim Halpert/The Office. When he wasn't in charge, he was the sane, rational one. But whenever they put him in a position of authority, he became a bumbling doofus. It's lazy.

I don't know, I think the show is just as good as it ever was. It's never been a ROTFLMAO type of show, the humor has always been more subtle than that. I think part of the problem is that it's such a bottle show - it takes place almost exclusively in one setting. That can make it feel stale after awhile.
Agreed.
And we're closing in on 100 episodes. All sitcoms have a shelf life.
If they gets a 6th season (which is very likely), they'll be right up there with "Parks & Recreation", as far as episode count. Which seems hard to believe.

Really? Del Rio has bounced around the league for a while. Rivera is solid, but not great.

I guess it keeps on going because....why? Does anyone still watch?
I finally tapped out after this episode. Not because it was worse than any of the other S10 episodes, but because I realized that I don't care about any of these people anymore. Or what happens to them.

HBO will want a S2, with or without Damon Lindelof.
But if he's not involved, I'm not really interested.

The only surprise is that it happened before the season ended. Ron is a good coach, but his time was up here. Especially with a new owner, who wants his own people in place.
Rivera will have no problem finding another HC job.

I thought Fred Armisen was pretty toned down, by his usual standards. That role could've been played by pretty much anyone, and it would've been the same. Not sure why they used him for that.

I've got no dog in this particular fight, but you don't want your first loss to be at home, against a division rival that is breathing down your neck in the standings.
That division is up for grabs, now.

Yeah, they don't need to overthink this. Glenn makes the most sense. And it's the best way to make it feel like the same show we've been watching for five years.
