    I agree.

If she did want a front row seat, it would have been wise to ensure she was with a single man. Nene famously said, “close your legs to married men”, and I can’t help, but agree. I don’t care if a man isn’t emotionally married. If he’s still married on paper and there’s no sign of a divorce on the horizon, the girlfriend doesn’t get wife privileges. Even if the source is fake, it isn’t unreasonable that a wife wouldn’t want a girlfriend in attendance. I think of funerals as really intimate affairs.

IIRC, Nene dated a still married but separated man years later.  I don't necessarily think Bethenny wanted wife privileges but they were something and possibly going to have future and he and his legal wife were getting divorced and she was dating someone else too.  I think Bethenny was more of a present/future situation but his marriage and Jill were past.

  2. I am thinking about the loss of Dennis and how it will impact her view of Jason, the custody battle and things related.  Huge personal loss has different effects on people so I wonder if seeing Dennis's children miss their father will have her re-think her fight for full custody.  Will she see that children need their father in as many ways as possible?  Does she want to inflict any more damage on an already broken situation?  I hope the death of Dennis causes her heart to soften not become harder.

This is simple and classy; it is all that needs to be said.

She seems to be experiencing some kind of ego disintegration for sure, which makes her very fearful. It would be interesting to know if that’s about Carole - maybe it rocked her world to think somebody saw her clearly enough to walk away, since the goal is to keep that mask intact so eveyone is fooled and controlled. The abandonment issue does make me wonder about borderline personality - that’s always mentioned in descriptions. (I’m not on a team either, but get why Carole would want out of the relationship.)

Narcissistic personality disorder (as opposed to garden variety narcissism) is all about control - the greatest fear is losing control. The persona (mask) people with npd create is about control, and they try to control every situation, every conversation and every person in a world that they imagine revolves around them.

I agree that Bethenny has very old, deep-seated issues - I feel for Bryn because it’s not a child’s job to meet the needs of her mother, or be held responsible for her mother’s happiness.

They are both Cluster B Personality Disorders so they do overlap.  She could be BPD with with co-occurring NPD but I think she is more BPD with NPD traits/features.

I work as an RN on an Acute Inpatient Psychiatric unit.  We dread the BPD patients we already know from previous admissions and new ones that our psychiatrists have accepted to be treated.

IMHO it's one of the "worst" diagnosis or labels you can give to someone both clinically and like we are as there are so many preconceived ideas about the disorder with some being true and some not.

****In a post above I talked about teaching children and adults.  I was a teacher then went back to school to be a nurse.****

Not necessarily.  Lawsuits, legal issues are one of the costs of having and doing business.  And if the business was set up right (I'm sure Dennis' were), the individuals are not held personally for the damages, If there are any.  As far as the type of business he had, it obviously is a needed service or it wouldn't be successful.  Why does it make a person an awful human being when they are willing to front people large or small amounts of money when NO ONE ELSE, i.e. a traditional bank, credit union, etc. WON'T LEND THOSE PEOPLE A DOLLAR?  Unfortunately, too many people in our society have proved to be very irresponsible with their finances or their life (committing crimes & being locked up) and thus considered a big risk when it comes to lenders giving them money.  Now, some of these people will make a commitment to get their affairs in order, but might need some financial help to get on the road to a better future.  Alas, nobody but the kind of business that Dennis Shields has will give them that.  And yes, they will pay high interest or maybe some kind of fee, but people aren't in business to lose money.  The company is taking a risk also in lending this money out.  That is what those Payday Loan companies do also.  It's not a matter of taking advantage of the most needy, it's giving help to those who really need it, but are locked out of the traditional means of getting loans.  Also, those that use a service like Dennis' have free will to accept the terms or not.  It's not usury as I believe that is against the law.  I can't speak of the case you mentioned as I haven't read about it, wouldn't know where to find it, and I'm sure there is more to it than what was alluded to.  As long as they're not chopping people's limbs off or threatening family members, it's wrong to label Dennis' business as unsavory.  There may be a few lawsuits, which is how a deemed injustice should be handled, but there is most likely a lot more people who were able to get their lives in order because of the aid this company gave them, hence why they are successful.

The Capitalist Libertarian, everyone-has-free-will-to-do-or-not-something-regardless-if-it-exist-or-not part of me agrees 100%.  Those that sign on the dotted line know what they are getting into.

The other part of me that holds Christian/Catholic Social Justice in high esteem, thinks that if Paydays didn't exist, people wouldn't get screwed so we should really try to shut them down.  Also, informing this position is that I've worked in lower-socioeconomic neighborhoods as a teacher of kids in schools and of adults in Welfare-to-Work programs and know that there is very low literacy and numeracy rates with the typical Payday user so they literally may not know what in the hell they are signing.  Don't even get me started on the cost of a phone call to talk to a loved one in jail!

My husband takes oxycodone for chronic pain. He had an aortic dissection in 2007 at 40..  You know that thing that killed John Ritter.  He was in the hospital for 3 months, But he had a lot of complications including compartment syndrome leading to a fasciotomy. He almost lost the leg and lives every day feeling like his foot is in a fire.  He even had 2 neurostimulators surgically inserted into his back for the pain. Both failed and he now needs another surgery. Hes been on all the pain meds incluidng Oxy, methadone and fentynol. Currently hes back to Oxy. Its freakimg horrible and i”m afraid im going to find him dead one day. Hes afraid hes going to die one day too, but he cant live like this.

So there are plenty of people in chronic pain on oxy. I really hurt for Bethany and for his family. And Im sorry, I just saw the small tAlk note

WOW, that's a lot to deal with.  I'm almost certain he already has a chronic pain doctor due to already having neurostimulators but if not, find one.  They can do things other docs can't.

I know a woman in her late 40's who (similar to Mia) is half African-American, and the other half is (mostly) from India. [She is not a friend.]

I'm white, and I've heard white racists talk. (I don't like it.)

But I have never in my life heard anyone go on a more racist (anti-black) rant than the woman I just mentioned!! She doesn't even bother to be subtle, perhaps because everyone who sees her assumes she's 'black,' and they don't want to offend her. But she has some really ugly, hateful, stereotypical things to say about black men, and she says it with venom!

At the time I first became acquainted with her, she was single and out on parole (but she almost never talked about the reason for that). She was very vocal about her extreme Christian devotion, and how much she loved singing in her church choir, how it "fulfilled" her. She even talked some reporter for the local paper into writing articles about how she had 'turned her whole life around,' had found a job, and was taking college classes --hoping to become an attorney some day. She was lauded as a good example for others to follow.

I'm certain she never told that reporter how she felt about dating African-American men. But, for some reason, she chose to tell me. She was very angry that I didn't applaud her racist attitude, and even angrier that I dared to comment that by never-under-any-circumstances dating anyone with African blood, she was ruling out some good Christian men.

Eventually, she got a scholarship to a Christian-oriented university where she convinced a white college student about 20 years younger, to marry her.

She no longer shows up in church on a regular basis and sings in the choir. And she dropped out of college after getting married (or so I've been told).

How sad that she feels that way about African-American men.  I wonder where that stems from?

I don't know who else has much experience with colorism but, it is powerful. A person can be driven both by "God's will" and prejudice at the same time. Hell, whole groups of American evangelicals are at any given moment.

I agree that Tristan believes he is devoutly following God's will and part of that perfect will for his life is a nice looking, mixed-race presenting wife. Like any successful con, this one works because the person being tricked actively participates in their own deception.

As well as whole groups of Roman Catholics, Eastern Orthodox, Muslims and Jews.

Tristan knows that is a preference or a want of his and I think he thinks by virtue of it happening, it was the will of God.  The line of thinking is God showed Tristan favor and granted him something he wanted; He certainly didn't have to but he did.

So..... his thinking is Mia is the person who God wills for him to be married to for their good (how they can grow to be more like Jesus by being together) and for God's glory.

I'm not saying them being put together is or is not God's will just that it seems as though my spiritual bent in some ways is similar to Tristan's based on what I've seen and am pretty confident in interpreting his line of thinking. God is far more concerned that when two Christians marry, they are each the best people for the other to be as Christ-like as possible, point others to God, raise children to love and honor God and bring Him glory.

Tristan and Pastor think skin tone is a preference like height or weight, right?  Pastor didn't call him out when it was mentioned.  How and when does it turn into a prejudice?  If his preference were for darker skin tone, what is that?  I'm white and short, average weight with green eyes, fair skin and reddish hair- red when a child, turned brown, now I help it stay red.  Some guys aren't into my look so they wouldn't consider me at all and exclusivity date tall, natural-haired, black girls.  Am I to feel some type of way about that?  Some might say yes but I just don't.  I literally don't have a type in any category except religion so I don't really get it.  It gets offensive when they are rude about it or everything else is there but no movement in the preference of the physical.

My only "must have" is they must be a Christian- and live it out in fairly similar ways- ex. I don't believe that giving money to men on my tv brings me any favor with God or I will get more money in the the future. I think it's borderline heretical (and believe that I could support it with the Bible) so my husband could not be into that kind of belief system.  God would have to do something for it to change.

I had something happen years ago that still bothers me.  I was a regular teacher in a middle school and there was a substitute teacher in for another teacher who was a black male, around my age and Christian.  I assisted him throughout the day and we talked about our faith and other stuff during down times.  I thought he was nice and cute.  My precocious 8th graders saw all this and decided to help their 20-something year old teacher out without me knowing about it.  I'm not exactly sure what they said to him but his answer was that he didn't date outside his race.  Even though I had no intention of anything with him, my feelings were hurt and I felt very "less than" since I can't change my race.  I was very surprised as I thought that he would be open to whoever God had for him regardless of race or ethnicity.  I also felt bad for him that he was limiting himself in a matter that can't be supported with the Bible.

I can't agree with you that it all comes down to color because the power of religion and belief in "destiny" is incredibly strong.  I think she is able to manipulate him because she knows he wants to believe that she was sent to him by God and she is God's will for him.  If she feeds into that belief she knows he won't turn his back on something he believes God has ordained for him.  He has to continue to believe that she is "the one" and no matter what she looks like he'd find a way to believe that this is the person God wants him to find attractive.  Just as no matter whether she's been arrested or stalked someone, he has to love her because this is what he thinks God is asking of him.  I firmly believe that Tristan is one person that would put his "worldly desires" secondary to what he believes is God's will for him.  We are talking about someone with a fundamentalist belief (and I have had good friends who have been such), and they are known to make great sacrifice and put aside whatever "worldly" preferences they have once they have bought into someone being God's will for them.  That's why I can't see what Tristan is doing as based solely on her skin color.  He most definitely doesn't strike me as being shallow enough to overlook her being arrested and possibly lying to him and the world just based on her skin tone, or believe that she is "the one" purely because she's light skinned.  Feel free to disagree, though!

I agree with you that Tristan is following what he believes is God's will for him.  I don't think the shade of his wife's skin plays into that much if at all.  I am a Christian with beliefs like Tristan's and even if we prefer X and God gives us Y, then Y it is.  We are not to hold on too tightly to our wants but trust God for our needs and believe that who/what he provides for us is for our good and His glory.

That is a very good point.  Maybe though, that's why Tristan might believe Mia.  I mean there has been so much shit in the news recently of white people calling the cops of black and brown people for all types of nonsense.  I mean there are many stories of black people arrested for basically no reason.

Well, I might believe that, IF Mia had said in the beginning that it was all bullshit, that her ex called the cops on her for no reason.  That's not what she said, she said she didn't know her ex, then she said she knew "of" him.

Still, I'm a bit surprised that the cops arrested Mia.  The reason I'm surprised is because there's a case now in NYC of a man who killed a nurse.  He stole her credit cards and went to California and was caught in the act of nearly killing another woman.  He'd also strangled another woman who DID call the cops on him.  My point is, this dude could have fled the country and no one would have stopped him, yet they stopped Mia.  Just makes me wonder.

He wasn't trying to leave at an airport/border crossing that is on the lookout.  He went to California and was ahead of the authorities so yes, scarily, he could've gotten away had he been faster.  Mia's charges had been there for a few months so authorities knew to look for her name(s).

She seems like a bubbly Bible thumper, plus a lunatic stalker on the side. And now a faux virgin. But she is funny and has a sense of humor about it all.

I thought they showed them giggling in the morning about having "used the outdoor shower"/had sex the night before, then followed it with them on the basketball/tennis courts with her saying, "Remember that conversation we had the other night about me dating your friend? I hope it's not going to cause problems for us" and followed that with Dave saying had he known beforehand he would have backed out.  Because I thought at the time - "If you felt that way why did you have sex with her last night?"  Bad editing?  Producers trying to create drama?  Who knows.

Very weird that when Mia is carted away, Tristan is taken to a hotel room where he has to sit while producers find out what happened.  Then Mia is released into the hands of producers, who put her in another hotel room to talk to experts, before she is allowed to skip down the hall to hug her "husband".  Why would law enforcement deal with someone's producer but not her spouse?  And frankly, had I been in her shoes I would have called my dad.

Danielle's eyebrows are tattooed on under her real eyebrow hair, I believe.  My sister had a year of chemo and wasn't happy with her eyebrows after that, so she had it done.  She is darker than Danielle and looks normal now, but she did have an "Uncle Leo" look for the first week or 2 :). I bet Danielle had it done to be on tv and it's not wearing off as quickly as she might have thought!  (They are supposed to last @5 years). I felt that the SAHM conversation was like the one between Ashley and Anthony about her changing her name - just a regular conversation that the producers are trying to wring for every bit of drama they can.

I love Uncle Leo!!  That was a good episode- but weren't they all????
