That's because John is a dope fiend.  All he cares about is getting high.  Had he been sober, he could have been sitting pretty, married to a wealthy woman and never having to work a day in his life, if he wanted to start a business Debra probably would have given him the money.  John's a stupid idiot.

I think the point is that there is no indication that getting high was the reason he did a lot of the shit he did, a lot of which had absolutely nothing to do with getting high. He has personality traits that made him a horrible person that most likely would have manifested regardless if he were a junkie.

That wasn’t his sister. That was just a neighbor.

His sister(s) were  out of the picture by then. I believe one sister had given him that trailer though at some time prior to his latest prison stay.  And at some previous point in time, after a prior prison stint, he had lived at his sisters mobile home park. She didn’t live there  she just owned it.

You are right. If he had just been a person who wanted to marry rich and be taken care of ( a gold digger) Debra probably would have kept him in fine style. But he had some personality issues where he wanted to con people just to con people, and to turn mean and ugly when he didn’t get his way.  He also wanted to isolate his target. He would have been that way even without a drug addiction.  Although, you could say the drugs were an attempt at self-medication for whatever mental thing he had going on.

He falls into Cluster B of Personality Disorders- Antisocial Personality Disorder to be exact.  IMHO, of course.

  4. I'm loving all of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills references!!  Many of these girls are basically Housewives-in-Training.  Has the B ever had a medium on?

It would cool to show what the girls do with all of their time.  If it's really nothing, they could could bring in mediums, hold cooking classes, spa days, etc. just like on the HW shows.

  5. Yes, Jared should've told Lourdes then gone to see Michaela.  That hardly ever happens on tv and probably less IRL.  Human aren't keen on being alone so doing it the right way is too scary.  Characters and real people who actually do it the right way get so much respect.  Not that I think leaving your spouse for your soul mate whether you tell them or not first is a good idea!!  I think if Jared is Catholic and married in the Catholic church, he could get an annulment (the marriage made invalid) since he (possibly) went into the marriage under false pretenses.

  6. I would feel some type of way if I was the girl(s) he kissed (did Colton only kiss one?) and I didn't get the First Impression Rose.  I know that kissing isn't a prerequisite for anything but I would still feel bad.  I wonder if in their head it's "there are girls you kiss and girls you give the First Impression Rose to" kind of rationale.

For all of the Statisticians of Bachelor Nation:  Was the First Impression Rose ever given to one of the girls kissed at the intro party?

I am an RN and have seen lots of good looking male and female docs.  The gorgeous young guy who tutored me in Stats was a post-doc in Mathematics at one of the best science/robotics/engineering universities in the world.  He was normal and "cool" not nerdy at all.

Maybe people like that don't really have life goals to be on this show.

    HA!!  You are probably right!!!!

  8. Why don't they ever have any intellectuals?  More like Charlene (the opera singer) would be refreshing.  Smart people can be good looking too!

Maybe I just live under a rock, but is being a virgin THAT big of a deal? Yeah for a guy of his age and with his looks, its not what I would guess, but is it such a huge deal? People are acting like Colton was born on Saturn, not that he just hasn't stuck his dick into anyone yet.

Or maybe they're focusing on the virgin thing because there is literally nothing else interesting about Colton? Almost like Colton is super boring...

I didn't think it would be so much of a big deal but it is.  I think it's because he's not a virgin due to a religious belief.  I think it's really sad that he's gotten this much grief over it.  I think it's great that he is a virgin.  However, he's not really a virgin virgin in that I'm sure he's done *everything but PIV, right?

*I've read that there are girls (maybe Colton, too?) who believe they are virgins since they do everything including AS but just not PIV.  That is lunacy.

Full disclosure:  I'm not a virgin.  Having sex with your bf/gf was common in the 80's at my high school.  Literally all of the people I hung out with were not virgins.  Later in life I became a Christian and got to know a lot of virgins.  Some it was for religious reasons/good morals/no opportunity.  I wish I had done things differently.

I liked the 'recap' because it showed John's motivations and his mindset through this whole thing.

Geez Debra...why did you meet up with him after you requested a restraining order?

And did we actually find out if John actually withdrew from the drugs or was that an act?  I got a bit distracted during that part and maybe missed it.

He really did purposefully put himself into withdrawl to scam Deb even more.  He knew it was only temporary and he was going to continue to use.

  11. It was interesting to see what may have been going on "behind the scenes."  He is a sick one.

After the finale I am going to listen and read all of the real stuff so I'll have a much clearer picture of what happened.

  12. The real John Meehan is HOT, HOT, HOT!!  I'm sure that he got away with tons of stuff due to his looks!

EDIT:  The photo of him at the beach is really the one I'm thinking of when I say that.  In other photos he looks kind of nerdy.

Didn't one of the Menendez brothers get married? He's in lockup forever.

I think they are both married.

I went to church with a gal who met a guy when she was there doing ministry.  Her parents met him and approved and he really sounded like he was decent.  They were getting married when he got out.   I can't remember her last name to google her!

John's father was a piece of work, making his kid eat glass. That's not an excuse for any of his later behavior, but still. Of course, then we saw what a lazy brat whose shitty behavior was rewarded by his terrible dad. His poor sister. It's sad that the price for being kind and supportive to people like John is getting screwed over because he is a lazy entitled asshole who thinks the world owes him.

Getting "clean" was just another way for John to manipulate Debra (I thought he was either faking it or just doing it temporarily to get her back so the end did not surprise me at all). He got sympathy, he got her undivided attention, he got her to say that she was proud of him, he made her feel needed.

I did not feel sorry for Debra AT ALL when Veronica and Trey fought with her at brunch. She has been lying to her family and keeping secrets from her family since she met John, but she somehow sees herself as the innocent victim in all this. And then she had the nerve to tell John that she didn't know how to fix things. Uh, it's pretty obvious. Dump your loser husband and quit lying to your kids. But John was manipulative enough to know that all he had to do was bring up that option so that she would say she didn't want that.

I love that the show continues to depict Veronica and Terra as immature/selfish but still so much smarter about John than Debra is. They might be spoiled brats but they're still shrewder than Debra (although Terra to a lesser degree in this episode). Poor Veronica. When her boss told her about the phone calls and one star reviews, the look on her face said it all. She knew who it was but she also knew that she couldn't prove it and that her mom wouldn't believe her anyway.

Trey didn't send her back to an abuser. He simply demarcated a clear boundary for himself and his family. Debra is the one who chose to go to back to John - and she'd already chosen to go back to him before that when she went back to the hospital, so Trey's decision did not send her back to an abuser.

Yes, you should try to help people when you can, but it was not Trey's responsibility to physically drag his mother away from John and strap her down to a chair until John decided to move on to someone else. And as we saw from Veronica helping Debra move out when John was in the hospital, you can bend over backwards tot help someone get out of a shitty relationship but once they decide to go back to said shitty relationship, there's really nothing you can do about it. Debra is an adult making her own choices and no matter how important she claims her family is to her, she repeatedly chooses John over her family.

THIS.  Trey's #1 job in life is to protect his family and nothing less.  Debra is a grown woman on her 5th husband who has shown that she has poor judgement, lacks insight and chooses men over her family.  You can't have 5 husbands and still cling to family being the most important thing in your life.  She has chosen men over her family before, others were probably not that great either but John takes the cake.

I'm worried for the poster who thinks Trey sent her back to her abuser and questions if Trey is the one in the wrong!!  The book Boundries by Henry Cloud and John Townsend is excellent about when and why boundaries need to be set and hope that he/she sees this and considers reading it.

John was in real withdrawal. As an opiate addict for for  25 years, I don't know why he didn't go on methadone. I have been on methadone for almost 18 years.  Also how is he getting pharmaceutical opioids if he doesn't work in a hospital anymore? It would be a lot easier and cheaper to buy heroin. Most opiate addicts start with pharmaceuticals and when they get cut off by drs move to heroin. I am surprised he didn't clean up the blood from shooting up between his toes.

Also who exactly was Trey? He called Debra "Mom". I thought she just had the two daughters and no sons and neither daughter was married. I know Toby is her nephew, the son of her murdered sister but I can't figure out who Trey is.

Maybe he gets hospital grade opioids from an entrepreneurial yet very unethical and criminal healthcare provider (MD, DO, RN, NP, PA, RPh) who is diverting meds.  They themselves aren't doing drugs but only selling them for the money.  I wonder if it ever came out where he was getting them.

So John's father made him do seriously dangerous scams when he was a kid. Almost makes sense why John killed him. But what did he gain from it other than some twisted kind of revenge?

John played Debra so hard, pretending to go through withdrawal. She never stood a chance against this guy. I wonder if that doctor was in on the scam withdrawal with John.

OMG, Debra, the way to "fix it" is simple. Don't choose a sociopathic criminal over your children and grandchildren.

I thought the mafia way was not to go after the families of people you have a problem with. Weren't families exempt? It sounds like John's father had some twisted version of the mafia way in his head and that's what he passed on to John.

She is. She and Patricia Arquette are probaby going to be going toe to toe for the Emmy in their category.

He really was dope sick.  One can't fake that kind of sweating, vomiting and high BP.  I'm an RN and see addicts all of the time.  I have to assess if they are in withdrawl by administering the COWS (Clinical Opioid Withdrawl Scale) and treat as necessary.

    https://www.drugabuse.gov/sites/default/files/files/ClinicalOpiateWithdrawalScale.pdf

I think he's even more of sicko to put himself through a withdrawl just to get back into Deb's good graces.

DeVocht said that one of the high-up dudes who used to run the SeaOrg ship knew Davie was nuts but he was waiting it out until LRH returns from the dead.  Apparently a lot of the long-timers, possibly including Shelly, think LRH is going to return to run the cult.  This had never occurred to Leah.

    Thanks Lizzing!!
