Watching sizzle reel: Everyone sitting awkwardly while Guy is laughing at Grill Dads.

    Elmimation: Christian gets sent home.

Ummmmm what!?!? I’m not saying it was the wrong call, but they JUST sprung on him about getting a new concept while the Grill Dads have been floundering all season with not connecting with the audience. I honestly would’ve sent home the Grill Dads and gave Christian the feedback to see what tweaks to the new concept he would do. Neither are winning but I feel like Guy didn’t read the room well and kept his favorite who’s concept wasn’t working over someone who unfairly had one “week” to come up with a brand new concept and execute it flawlessly or else.

Totally agree. Christian was robbed. I think he has potential and the poor guy has one try to develop and present a new concept? The Grill Dads are incoherent and stupid. Maybe they were afraid Christian would improve too much and beat Zane, who seems inexplicably to be the front runner?

  2. Memphis drag racer's friend was really awful. Such stupid complaints and she seemed just generally dim. It was completely obvious which house the woman picked because there were paint swatches on so many walls. As someone who was a long-distance commuter for 23 years, no way I would choose a place with a 1-hour commute each way.

  3. Brandon's French braids and  stupid homeless elf outfit- just no. And I am done with the twins and their bullshit.

Edited to say I am also done with Shawn's weird-ass cleavage. Just wrong for someone of her age.

I'm confused as to why some of the bakers use Royal icing with no problem, whilst other moan about not having enough time for it to dry.  They all have to make their dough, bake the cookies, and then let them cool before decorating.

One of the male judges suggested reducing the amount of egg white to get the icing to dry faster. I was surprised the woman who screwed up her cookies had no idea that changing from buttermilk to eggnog would mess up her dough. I would have been okay with any of the final three winning. "Santa" seemed competent, the woman from Trinidad (I think) seemed very personable, and the young guy was clearly talented at decorating.

  5. No comments on the Miami couple? She was very mutton-dressed-as-a-lamb and her face never moved. He had horse teeth and a patronizing way of treating her.  You could tell which house they were going to buy because it was the one with their TV mounted on the wall when they toured it.

Yep - all the time. Once you get near the heart, you don't need to do it as it's all tender.

Thanks! How interesting. I am a pretty serious cook and this was the first I'd heard of the technique.

  7. Hmm, me again. I watched an episode recently where Carla was making a dip to be served with celery. To prep the celery, she peeled the "strings" off of it. I have never heard of this. Has anyone ever done it?

  8. I had trouble with Joan Rivers sometimes but found her much more tolerable after I watched the documentary about her, "A Piece of Work." It is definitely worth a look.  The woman worked HARD. I still don't appreciate all of her "humor" but knowing how much work she had to do to get where she was made me respect her.

Last one tonight at 8:00! Repeats at 10:00.

I wonder why they pulled the plug now, instead of after awards season? They could have gained some momentum and had the farewell after The Academy Awards.

    I wondered the same thing.

Gosh, will a challenger ever win? I watched the Garcis episode and was totally underwhelmed. I felt that Chef Kish did a better job. Garcis has never impressed me and I find him BORING!!!!!!!

Yeah, Chef Garces is like watching paint dry. I wanted Chef Kish to win, too, and thought her food looked better.

That beautiful cat saddened me. At 19, she is closing in on the end of her life and needs lots of love. Yes, she was loud, but when my late cats were 18 an 19 I wanted them near me all the time because I knew we wouldn't have them for much longer.

My marmalade cat cuddles next to me every night and purrs me to sleep. I can't imagine locking him away in another room. Even our most vocal cat (we have four cats and she's part Siamese) isn't closed out of the bedroom at night.

I agree with you. Siamese cats are always very vocal. You can't blame the kitty for that. (Of course, I type this around the 18 year-old cat on my lap so I am obviously biased.)

My gripe with Ree is to boil her own darned eggs and not use store bought ones that are preserved with God knows what chemicals.  Since she loves her friends and family soooo much and lives to feed them good stuff.  Yeah, right...

I admittedly only watch this intermittently to snark, but she does not even boil her own eggs? I was put off of hard-boiled eggs for years after working at salad bars where you had to retrieve the eggs from 5-gallon sulfurous buckets of hell. Boiling eggs is dead simple! How lazy and wasteful do you have to be to pay someone else to boil them?

  13. I am likewise thankful for you all. My sister and I hold my dad's assets in a Medicaid-protecting trust (a bit of legal shenanigans that the law forces on you). We closed the sale of Dad's house today. (He is in a memory care assisted living facility.) I posted here when my mom was dying of Alzheimer's and I was looking for food ideas for filling his freezer. I have not posted much since but now my dad is dying of Alzheimer's (because there is no other option with Alzheimer's)and we just sold his house. So, yippee?

  14. I like Carla but I do agree she has a tendency to go manic and babble, sometimes to the detriment of the guest. When she gets like that while she is cooking, she does not effectively convey the information about what she is making. She needs to breathe occasionally.

Tonight's ep with the husband who was becoming a realtor and his b!tch wife who currently is a realtor and a "team leader".   He was so easy going and she was just nasty!  The husband liked the 2nd home because of the quiet neighborhood, a backyard with grass, etc.  The wife however was not having it. None. Of. It.  She had the audacity to say she didn't want her husband spending time working on the yard because he needed to spend all his time with her!  UGH!!!!   Considering she had been a realtor for years, she came across as unprofessional and close minded.  She had nothing nice to say about the house he really liked.  She griped about the paint color, the removable stair chair lift, the lack of granite counters.  Her complaints were all cosmetic issues that could easily and inexpensively be replaced.  Of course they pick house #3 because it had everything SHE wanted and NOTHING he wanted.  All he got was a tiny front porch on top of his neighbors...and being the nice guy that he is, he was cool with it.

Good grief, she was horrid. If that was producer-driven, why would anyone accede to being made to look like a shallow selfish narcissist on TV? My favorite (!) comment of hers, when arriving at the second house: "it's noisy. I hear a dog." A dog that barked like one time. These couples presented on HH with his and hers budgets just get on my last nerve, too ("it's not above MY budget!").

Jinger and Jeremy has private texts and engaged in FAR more physical affection than the other courting couples (cuddling on the sofa, hugging more than twice a day etc). They probably kissed before marriage. Rumor has it Joy and Austin had private convos on the phone after 10pm and J.B. did NOT approve.

Were I Joy, I would recommend that JB remove the giant stick from his ass and mind his own business. But I know that is not how these morons think.

  17. Yikes. Really did not enjoy the passive-aggressive military couple moving from Finland  to Germany. Producer-inspired or not, the way they talked to each other was unpleasant to watch. And I felt sorry for the tween son when his mom announced that the layout of the house they picked meant the kid would be "running through the house naked."

Rabies is passed on by blood and saliva.   If the dead cat bit you, you might have a problem.

More than one problem, I would say.

I would actually wear those pants Margarita made. I am not built anywhere like her model so I would look very different in them but the magpie I evidently was in a former life really liked them. That said, I thought the entirety of her collection, at least on the hanger, looked like a clown car exploded.

    Please pull it together, Kentaro!
