  1. Glad to see I'm not the only one who finds Claire super annoying. She has a few endearing moments (like comforting Alex after the first kiss fiasco), but she's just such a wet blanket that her good qualities are overshadowed. Not sure if it's how the actress portrays the character or just the character herself. Alex is one of my favorite characters, I think in part because I was similar to her growing up and can relate to what she's going through. She's the smart, awkward kid who will eventually come into her own, and I like that her character always seems to be learning and growing. Phil was just too goofy and, well, stupid at first, but he's really grown on me. He's basically a big kid at heart, and you can tell that he loves his family and means well. Luke was so cute as a kid, but as he's gotten older he's just painful to watch.
  2. I love Disney, so Disney week is always my favorite each season. The costumes, the music, the sets...it's all just so fun to watch. Willow was perfect as Alice in Wonderland, and it's obvious that Mark had a lot of fun really flexing his creativity muscle with the choreography. I felt like I was watching a Tim Burton musical version of Alice in Wonderland, if that makes any sense. Rumer was so cute as Ursula! You could just tell that she and Val had a lot of fun with the dance and with getting into character, and I loved that she wasn't afraid to be the villainess. Watching that dance, if I didn't know any better I would have sworn that Rumer was the pro. Girl's got skills! And speaking of getting into character, Riker was hilarious as Jack Sparrow. If his music career doesn't work out, he could totally play Jack Sparrow on stage or at Disney. I think this is the one week where Allison's high octane choreography paid off and actually fit the overall theme, but I'm hoping we some more versatility in the coming weeks. Also, maybe it's just me, but Julianne and Erin were especially annoying last night. They both just talk a lot without really saying anything. Erin says "Umm" almost every other word, and Julianne just rambles without actually contributing anything. This show would be SO much better sans those two clowns.
  3. Rumer is shaping up to be one of my favorites this season. I wasn't sure what to expect from her considering her famous roots, but she seems like a genuine person and not a typical crazy celebrity kid. There's just something so endearing about her, and she definitely has raw talent. She actually reminds me a lot of her character from that movie House Bunny - awkward and dorky in some ways, but a good person who seems like she'd be an awesome friend!
  4. I absolutely loved Robert and Kym's dance! Beautiful choreography (and dress!) on Kym's end, and great dancing on Robert's end. Like Carrie Ann said, it felt like they were from another era. Rumer's segment got me choked up. Okay, most of the segments got me a bit misty, but I liked her angle and think this show is really helping her come out of her shell. I think she's one of the best dancers this season and she seems like a genuinely cool person. I like Riker as well and think he's also one of the better dancers, but ugh, that dance! The background made my head spin, and I was starting to think that his costume was velcroed to Allison's because they were thisclose practically the entire dance. Coupled with the fast music, the whole dance just felt off to me. Call me a curmudgeon, but Chris's segment made me roll my eyes. Like, we get it - you're The Bachelor and your whole shtick is falling in love with Whitney, but their little love story is just grating on my nerves at this point. I think they've brought it up every week so far and I'm just over hearing about it. Skill-wise, I think he'll be the next elimination.
  5. De-lurking to say that I really liked Rumer & Val's routine and thought they were underscored. I thought Robert and Kym were super cute, too, even though his dancing is still in the works. I like Riker and his spunk and thought his dancing was pretty good, but like others mentioned Allison's choreography is a tad frenetic. I hope she tones it down and really shows what Riker can do. Bruno's comment to Charlotte was definitely obnoxious and uncalled for, but I'm glad she's gone. Her attitude was just grating, and every time the camera showed her watching the other dancers from the balcony she looked like a skunk just crossed her path. Sorry if someone else already mentioned this, but Suzanne looked just like the Chiquita Banana lady in that costume.
  6. Had to de-lurk to say that the apparent Gypsy traditions and beliefs are so bogus. Babysitter dude's mom said the couple should just live together for a few years before getting married, but I remember Annie's mom saying in a previous season that living together unwed is a big no-no for gypsies. At this point, it's just comical how they contradict their beliefs in every episode. The whole prove your commitment by gravelling was ridiculous, too. I wonder if he had to do a bad job and overcharge them as well...you know, in keeping with tradition.
