The thing with Buck is that yes, they definitely should have made the boundaries clear before proceeding with the sperm donation. I But I have known people who do things informally, without lawyers, because they think all that is unnecessary. I think that's a mistake, but it does happen, so the plotline doesn't strike me as implausible.

The donation was cleary done via clinic, so the legal side of things have probably already been addressed.

I'm not convinced that Buck is going to go off the rails and keep referring to the baby as his child. I think initial excitement got to him and then he calmed down. He referred to his friends having a baby not 30 seconds later.

I do think this show thrives on soap (which I am down for!) and my working theory is that the mom dies in childbirth and the intended father can't handle it. He passes the baby back to Buck, saying it's not his kid and he doesn't want the baby that killed his wife.

Hen and Karen's kid - who was the bio mom? Wasn't it Hen's druggie ex? Did we ever know who the father was?

Yes, druggie bio-Mom (Eva) told the dad about Denny back in Season 2 as a way to be cruel to Hen. Since Dad never signed the adoption papers, there was legitimate concern he could take Denny from Hen and Karen.

Fortunately Dad was a decent guy and recognized that suing for custody would do no good. I think he ended up signing the papers.

When they were hooking up the hose, what water source were they tapping into? It didn't look like there was a hydrant or a well or a lake or anything, and I didn't see a tanker truck, either.

The engine has large water tank in its body.

I think my favorite part was Bobby yelling at the couple about it being a fire engine, not a truck. I thought, “ooh Bobby’s been watching Chicago Fire too.”  But now I’m wondering, have they always only used the engine, and not the truck?

I know it's never going to happen but I'd love to get crossover between this show, Lonestar, Station 19 and Chicago Fire. Like a national firefighter muster (skills competition) that has all four houses cross paths. They're all such different vibes that the reactions to meeting each other would be.... interesting.

You basically have that with Sister Sister. In all honesty I don't think the concept works- it was barely understandable in the '98 remake that two 1980's/90's parents would do that to their kids in a world where divorce was very common. I would tweak it so that the girls are aware of each other and kept up through Skype but camp was going to be the first time they spent an expansive amount of time together.

In these days of social media, an emphasis on equal custody time as well  as 23andMe, separating twins/siblings just wouldn't work.

It might be possible if presented an accident during a fertility procedure, like mixing up embryos or something. Be pretty hard to prsent that as a comedy though.

GIven the terrible drought in California, I imagine it's pretty hard to justify wasting tons of water on scenes like this. I mean, I get that it's supposed to be a show about fighting fires and we should be seeing that a lot more, but the reality of the situation is daunting for production and you can just imagine the blowback they probably get on social media every time they do it.

Don't they film in Chicago proper? With Lake Michigan nearby I can't imagine it's a drought issue.

Have we ever seen Serveride handle the hose line before?

I forgot Maddie inherited from her ex - she spent all that? Wasn’t it a few hundred grand?

She underwent some intensive long term inpatient therapy. And this was after she'd quit her job, so no health insurance. I'm guessing there's nothing left.

If Mandy has a college degree, why is she working as a waitress?

Cause Medford TX circa 1992 probably isn't a hotbed of jobs. And now she visibily pregnant, so changing jobs is that much harder. Pregnancy Non Discrimination Act or not, most employers don't want to hire someone who's going to take leave a few months later.

  9. I thought this was the classic silly and over the top adventures of the 118. Loved revisiting everyone's stance on curses!

He gets in fights, he gets arrested, he won't tell anyone where he got his burn scar, he has nothing in his locker but deodorant. He may very well turn out to be a serial killer.

Carver turning out to be a Bad Guy might be kind of interesting. I can see that playing out as really shaking up the house that someone they welcomed and trusted shouldn't have been. Boden has always run place with an 'open door, come on in policy' both for the community and the employees. New folks are pretty much always welcomed. Having multiple characters really question that trust and struggle with how they run their house could be fairly intriguing.

Disclaimer for the next part: I'm one of the few that likes Stella.

I think it could be particularly interesting for Stella to cope with as Carver's commanding office. She hasn't liked him since the academy and was not happy with Boden bringing him on board. While she's been utterly professional with him, there is definitely a coldness. I think Carver turning out to be a villain in someway might lead to several things, among them Stella questioning herself and her skills (she's still a pretty new office) plus creating conflict between Stella and her mentor (Boden).

Overall though this episode was pretty bland. I'm all for Stella having career aspirations but Fire Cop doesn't need to be one of them.

  11. I know it was meant to be played for laughs but Missy announcing her teacher's affair and pregnancy is going to devastating for Darlene. Not that I condone her behavior but she's probably going to lose her job. And if the community turned on the Coopers because Georgie isn't married, what are they going to say about an unfaithful wife?

I only just realised in this episode that Mr Wheeler was Jimmy Chance in Raising Hope, and now is Raising Noah.

And that will keep me reading recaps instead of watching. I'm not okay with sweet Jimmy Chance being an evil Gilead wannabe

  13. Of course Chim set up Hen and Karen. Of course he did. 😁

Loved that touch of Karen always calling him Howie while Hen calls him Chimney.

McKenna Grace needs an Emmy. And then she needs to be in something that stresses me out less. Another Ghostbusters would be acceptable.

She's guest starred on Young Sheldon several times
