Aparna's attitude is awful AND she is unattractive. She'd have to be stunning looking (10+) to get away with that disgusting attitude but she is more like a 2 or 3. No chance she finds a guy with the combo of her attitude and looks.

See, I think Aparna is actually very beautiful and, perhaps just as important, dresses well. Nice house (yeah, I know it was smaller than all the others, but I liked her taste in decor), good job, well-traveled.

So I'd have said she was a 7-8, and would rank higher if she had a better attitude. I did find that when she softened in the later episodes, like the yoga with goats, and when she was kindly asking Sima about how she was doing in India, she was much more attractive.

Off-topic, but I thought Preeti was lovely as well. And Manisha, the first girl Vyasar dated. I liked Rashi, the second girl he dated, but desperately wanted to give her a haircut or at least some layers.

I think it's a mistake.  It doesn't specify "Season 2" or "Season 1B which it does for other shows about to air new seasons.  A couple of other sites that list Netflix things dropping on Aug. 16th don't have that listed which makes me think it's some kind of data entry error.  Someone put in Aug. 16th instead of July 16th (which is when it actually dropped.)

You're probably right. I had a hard time confirming this date elsewhere. 2020 strikes again! This year needs to pack up and go home. I expect nothing and am still disappointed. But not as disappointed as Akshay's mom.

  3. I've always thought Jennifer had the potential to be the most beautiful Duggar girl (similar to Josie Balka being the sleeper beauty of the Bates set). And it sure looks like my prediction was right. She's lovely. And so melancholy you can almost feel it!

I hope they don't waste their second Jane Bennet (the first being Jessa) on another bumbling Mr. Collins like Bin, although Mr. Collins at least had a good job and home. Get her a Bingley or Darcy!

Those balloon arches look like they cost a pretty penny.

I wonder if it's actually a second season or if it's a second half of season one. Not trying to be pedantic because I would love more episodes, I just thought the "last episode" was kind of weird because it didn't give updates on a bunch of the participants. Maybe the "second half of season 1" would tie up those loose ends?

I'll take it. You may be right. For some odd reason they left a lot of couples hanging, and there were a few people who were shown in the very first episode, then dropped. I wonder if the pandemic has made Netflix stagger their programming.

I kinda started to lose interest in the show once the original people vanished with no updates and all of a sudden, these new people came along. I didn't have the patience really to get to know them but I tried. Ashkay, the spoiled child who was aghast that he had to do his own laundry and make his bed in college I disliked right away and had no real interest in his story and his mother from hell. Did I miss them breaking up? A post above appeared to say that it did not work out but the last I saw they were having a gathering with both families and mother in law from hell was giving her gifts?

I don't really have much to say about the others who came along because I was only half paying attention. The college adviser guy with the father in prison came across as way too hyper for me.

The college adviser's (Vyasar) fatal flaw is probably going to be lack of ambition, because I think that was one of the turn-offs for Manisha, the first girl (who was gorgeous with lovely eyes). Also he seems a bit uncouth and sloppy. These are definitely things the right woman will overlook, but I would wager a guess that it's part of the reason he's single. However, his genuine kindness can probably make up for a lot.

    Akshay:

    Spoiler

They ended the engagement, which seems like it must have been humiliating for the woman and her family. I'd be pretty pissed, because it seems like ending engagements so publicly like this is Just Not Done in their culture. And does the girl just give back the jewels?

Preeti, his mother, must be livid. If Akshay was the one who broke it off, props to him for finally standing up to her.

He is a spoiled little boy and lord help the women he does marry, he has temper tantrums written all over him and a mother who will back him up everytime.

And unless the editing was unkind, he has the personality of a wet mop. Every other person on the show showed hobbies and interests, but I never got a sense of what Akshay was like. Perhaps he has been overshadowed and coddled by his mother to an extent that he never developed as a person. I'd love to know if the brother settled for his bride and/or felt rushed into marriage.

Lastly, I think every single person on this show is loaded (with the possible exception of Vyasar, and maybe his family all chipped in), because otherwise how in the world can they afford Sima Auntie?

Nadia reminds me exactly of my cousin, God bless them both. Both are gorgeous, great job, nice hobbies,  very bubbly, but for some reason ooze desperation and overcompensate. So even though both Nadia and my cousin get a huge amount of attention from men, suitors are either not serious or are put off by said desperation. It pains me to write that. But how else to explain why Nadia, who is the total package, remains single?

With Aparna, I think she's just an arrogant attorney who has to learn how to give and take with people, and in the beginning she seemed to think being pleasant was beneath her. She needs another workaholic, maybe a doctor with long hours, so they can be insufferable together.

I thought when she revealed she hated her job, it explained a LOT about her. When I was younger, I had a job I absolutely hated because of my boss. It was horrible. And I found that it seeped into other areas of my life, and I was generally unpleasant in my non-work life, and lived for the weekends. So I think that can explain at least part of the reason why Aparna is such a sourpuss. And why she travels a lot - anything to get away from the office! It's really too bad if she was forced to be a lawyer.

Oh my god, seriously, the reason Pradhyuman has not agreed to meet any women is because he has no interest in women to begin with.  Not that there’s anything wrong with that...

Someone elsewhere thought it could also be that he just wants to be a playboy, and I agree that's at least a possibility as well, although there was no real indication that he was sleeping around. I could see him waiting until 40 and then marrying a younger Indian girl and settling down.

I wasn't sure what to make of Akshay's reluctance to marry, except I think I know exactly what it is: he's 25! No way in Hades was I ready for marriage then, and I suspect the same is true of him. And why should he want marriage when many of the perks (having a stable home, someone to talk to, and someone to cook/clean for him) are done by his mother?

  9. I absolutely loved this. I think Aparna improves as the show goes on. She did sort of figure out what she was doing wrong, took rejection well, and put herself out there a lot. I disliked her deeply in the beginning, but later I realized I was agreeing with her on a lot of things (especially being around a spouse 24/7 - that would give me hives, too. Maybe that's why I'm almost her age and still single, too). I still cringed watching some of her dates. She was low-key rude a lot and didn't pick up on when she was clearly pushing someone off. I also didn't like how her mother branded that one guy a loser.

I enjoy that Ankita and Rupam's parents did not want their daughters to settle. Despite being less traditional daughters, their parents were clearly behind them 100% and weren't ready to settle on just any match just because. I did not like how the show acted like Ankita was some dog. She was perfectly attractive and curvy. Some people expect Aishwarya Rai, apparently.

I enjoyed the insights into Indian culture. The reliance on astrology, addressing elders as "auntie" or "uncle," and even how they greeted each other.

What I did find absolutely universal is that you do indeed marry a person's family when you marry them. I liked that all of the families realized that. Akshay's mother would be the MIL from hell.

Some stories seemed to end on a cliffhanger. Maybe Ms. 'Rona had her say and they weren't able to complete production.

Also I liked the cold opens of each episode where married couples commented. They were all super cute.

  10. The groundwork laid for the relationship between Michelle and her father was so well done that I immediately burst into tears when they showed his dates of birth and death. I'm glad we live in a digital age where things like photos, voicemails, and videos exist. What a tragedy for the McNamara family. Mother and father gone, which is natural but still difficult, but then the youngest sibling dies young. Horrible.

I follow both Patton and Meredith Salenger, his new wife, on Instagram, and it very much seems like she helped them heal and feel happy again. Alice is growing into a lovely young woman.

Although I too get rubber necky when Derick posts shit about JB, I don't agree with it. JB may be an asshole, but he is his wife's dad and its not cool to call out your FIL on SM. Unless of course, Jill is sitting right beside him telling him to post. But I doubt that, because Derick changes the narrative whenever it suits him.

Eh. If JB was your run of the mill FIL, I'd also say it was tacky and ill-advised (while also rubbernecking).

But this is Jim Bob Duggar who is being dragged. Fuck him and the horse he rode in on. And I don't even like Derick.

Logan is such a drip! Not a great actor. He's probably the most important boy in the original series, so they should have tried a little harder with him, imo. They really couldn't find a kid with a southern accent? I agree with whoever said that was like his biggest character trait.

They did a lot better with the Trevor casting, which is funny since he only lasted a few books or so. The kid just looks like he'd be a brooding artist, and he and the Claudia actress have good chemistry.

Logan WAS kind of a boring drip in the books so they kind of hit it out of the park in that respect, heh.

Well, Watson can't be THAT old if Karen and Andrew are so little.  I mean, he doesn't come across as the type who marries five million times.  I LOVE Karen.  I've forgotten how wild her imagination can be (I was too old for the Little Sisters books).

True, but 13-year-old me thought anyone over 18 was ancient. Now I'm probably closer to Watson's age than to the BSC! The joke is now on me.

I know it's none of my business, but I wonder where they all are with finances. I remember reading somewhere that Bridget bought her house either while she was still living at the mansion or shortly after. Then a few years later she downsized to a condo. (No judgement here). Holly bought a house in LA while she was (I think) on the show, but didn't live there, of course. And it looks like she's had the same house in Las Vegas for many years. Kendra bought a condo on the show and a house when she left. I have no idea if she still has them. I'm guessing Holly did very well when she was in Peepshow (and she did that for a couple of years, right?). Plus she's sold two books. Kendra's also done a couple of books, but most likely had to pay for a ghostwriter. No idea if Holly needed one.

Of all of them, Holly is the best off financially, I think. Pasquale was and is LOADED. I'm sure she'd be fine on her own, but she never has to work again if she wants, I bet. Which is kind of what is happening, since all I've seen of her the past few years is doing Instagram photo shoots.

Stabler didn’t hook up with Greylek, he kissed Dani Beck, his temporary partner when Benson was undercover, that must be who you are thinking of. Greylek was the wooden, bland ADA in the first half of season 10.

Whoops! I seem to recall a kiss on the roof between Stabler and either one of those women. Shows how memorable they were. I can't for the life of me picture Dani Beck.

His family was such a mess.   I was totally sick of all of their various medical, psychological, and just plain screw ups from his family.    I was also tired of the whole break up, and reunite with the wife.

And that was another thing. I am sure the actress who played his wife is a lovely person, but wow, did she lack charisma onscreen. I thought they were an odd match. Also, I thought the actress was attractive, but they seemed to purposely dress and style her rather dumpily. Maybe as a contrast to Olivia? And she did have a million kids. Still. I'd have sued.

I did find the collective fandom outrage when Stabler briefly hooked up with Greylek hilarious, since I had no horse in the Stabler/Olivia race.

  17. I'm circling back watching older episodes, and I liked Kat from the second she was introduced, not knowing they were bringing her on as a regular. I liked her deep voice and her looks, plus her grit. I remember thinking it would be nice to see her pop up again a la Sister Peg (RIP). Now that she's on the squad, she's a tad preachy (who isn't, on this show?), but I'm glad they've brought on another POC, those have been lacking on this show as of late.

  18. I feel marooned on an island in my immense dislike of Stabler and preferring Amaro over him. I'd rather not see him back, ever, unless it's to say a proper goodbye to Olivia and then ride back off into the sunset. Dude was an asshole who steamrolled over people, and I hated seeing his dozens of kids on the show screwing up year after year.

I know many find Stabler attractive, but again, he never did anything for me. Amaro, Cassidy, and Carisi, on the other hand...

We don't know what happened behind the scenes.  Kristin was able to put out her side, she has a show and she is in charge of what is shown, so Kelly was made to look like a jerk.  I am sure there is a lot we don't know about.

Yep. Kristin had the platform and the executive producer title, so she held all of the cards in this particular contest. The storyline stretched across several episodes, with Kristin telling several friends over and over. Kelly was able to tell her side only to one of Kristin's biased friends.

Kristin could and should have said a few words at the beginning of the season without even mentioning why she and Kelly were no longer friends. "We're no longer friends and I am very hurt by that, but I wish her the best." Or SOMETHING short, simple, and discreet. But oh no, we had to have a storyline for the show out of this! And now it's coming back to bite her in the ass.

Having said that, it WAS a cheap shot for Kelly to post that photo knowing what would happen. But again, she was dragged on the show so much that I can't really blame her for not being able to rise above it all.

  20. Kelly posted a photo on Insta of a man's arm that looks a lot like Jay. I think it looks like his arm, because I noticed similar bead bracelets on him before on VC episodes (specifically the season 1 episode of Kristin's launch day where she's freaking out about the shipping prices being wrong). I remember because I thought it was cute that he wore something that looked like one of his kids made for him.

Anyway, if it's not him, Kelly really is the shitstirrer Kristin said she was, and I hate when Kristin is right. Not that she isn't allowed to post what she wants - but come on. She knows what she is doing. Having said THAT, after Kristin spent all season dragging Kelly every chance she got - I would not lift one finger to help Kristin out.

The custody battle will probably get even worse if Kristin wants to move to LA to pursue acting/hosting while Jay stays in Tennessee. But, this assures Kristin will show up on a version of Real Housewives in about 5-10 years.

I mean, she talked a big game back in season one about settling in Nashville, how UJ can't fail because that was where she was going to be based, etc. So that sure sounded like she was going to stay in Nashville. However, perhaps all bets are off now.

She mentioned they hadn’t sold the house and I looked it up and it’s still on the market from what I can tell. I’m from a large but not as expensive city in TN and I actually think 4.9 seems a hell of a deal for that mansion and land. Anyone have any intel why it won’t move?

I read an article that the house may be just too damn big, especially since they customized it so much and added on rooms. Plus the huge price at the beginning, which has been lowered several times. Makes sense.
