  1. I was thinking this too!! I have a feeling next week we are going to see Arizona talking to Jackson about something completely different and April busts in and says "I can't believe you told him I was pregnant".
  2. I have ever heard Derek mention a brother of any kind. In fact, I think he says once or twice that Mark Sloan was like the brother he never had. While I'm sure Shonda and co would love to go on to either 15 or 16 seasons, I am betting the actors will just sign two year contracts for now (it doesn't mean they/the show won't continue after those two years though). My guess is that they gave Jcap a three year deal (starting with this season) so that she will be on the same contract cycle as the originals, Sara, Kevin and whoever else is up this year.
  3. to be fair, 5 years ago is a lifetime ago in the TV world. Hell even you can't even compare things to 2-3 years ago because the way in which people consume media is completely different. Not just tv/video but all forms of entertainment/media from TV down to social networking. I agree with Deanie87 though, its unfortunate that Grey's is so stable because the general press (and likely the writing staff) seem to think GA is on this new creative streak, but I personally think the show is at some of lowest quality ever in terms of writing/creativity.
  4. In the national ratings, Grey's was even with last week with the A18-49 demo and up in total viewers (that's likely why the HH numbers were up). Grey's- 2.1, even with last week and same day last year Scandal- continues to fall with a 1.6 this week down .1 from last week and down 41% from last year HTGAWM finale was a 1.4, even with last week but down 50% from last year's finale (which was a week earlier)
  5. if this holds true for the national numbers it will quiet a feat with March Madness and daylight savings time!
  6. hahaha-yeah I'm pretty sure they don't bring a dozen of untrained puppies into a hospital peds ward!! But, really its sad when puppies are one of the best parts of the episode (IMO of course). I am willing to forgo all logic if cute puppies are involved.
  7. wow they are really trying to make Penny happen and its not working for me at all. I know this it just a silly soap when it comes down to it, but all this Penny propping is making the entire show feel really disingenuous to me. I wasn't super thrilled with this episode but I was very glad to see Arizona actually doing something. I liked that Alex was also involved in the medical story without having any part in the Mer/Jo drama, or anything to do with the sisters. I knew there was basically no reason/conclusion that would satisfy me for why Meredith treated Jo like crap since it pretty much came out of nowhere in season 11, but I liked 1) the faces and eyerolls Callie and Maggie made when Meredith was talking about Jo and 2) that Stephanie called out Jo on talking to Mer and not just ranting about her. I am sort of just glad it was resolved so we can move on. I hope now they don't Mer and Jo suddenly BFFs. What is up with Bailey and Ben? Can literally no couple be happy on this show? um, yay puppies! that was cute.
  8. ugh, I am dreading the day Penny is added as a series regular. I wish Shonda would just admit defeat and realize no one likes Penny.
  9. I'm pretty ambivalent to Stephanie so I don't care if she stays or goes...but the cast needs to be majorly trimmed. I'm ok with her being one of the ones to go in that case.
  10. Jerrika Hinton (Stephanie) has been cast in Shondaland's comedy pilot for next season. The article states she could do both the new show (if it gets picked up) and Grey's but that seems unlikely. We may have our first character exiit of season 12.
  11. 2.1 for Grey's this week, down .1 and 5% but still miles ahead of Scandal (1.6) and HTGAWM (1.4). Also it was even with the same day last year.
  12. So the 12x16 episode description is out (http://calzona-ga.tumblr.com/image/140849597935) and part of it says "Meredith regrets taking a step forward with Will". I had assumed he'd show up in 12x14 and Meredith would turn him down and then Jo yells at her to "get her own boyfriend" so she calls him back and goes on a date in 12x15, then regrets in 12x16, end of arc. but I see people speculating her "regret" is having sex with him. What do you guys thing? Do you think they'd have Meredith sleeping with someone so quick and already? I kind of doubt it, anything is possible.
  13. While I think Justin will/is renewing. Do you think he actually meant that , yes he has definitely signed a new contract? It seemed more ambiguous to me when I first saw the tweet.
  14. I thought this originally too, but they were all showed on the van back to GSM so I guess it was Bailey's way of saying we have to leave right now. Yes, everyone on this show has pretty much done outrageous things in the hospital, but they are (usually) punished for them. All of MAGIC were questioned and punished after the LVAD cutting and Izzy was suspended when she said it was her who did it. So, I am ok with Ben being reprimanded for doing what he did. The incredulous-ness of it all when maybe a bit too much, but I found the consequences fair. I see a lot of people thinking this episode was boring but I think it was kind of nice to be boring. For once it was just a medical soapy drama again, no big cliffhangers, no stunt "events", etc.
  15. I really liked this one tonight. This felt "old school" with out a million unnecessary flashbacks and recycled music. I liked the "suspense" of the surgery. Obviously they were going to pull it off but still it felt suspenseful. I even liked the ER cheerleaders and Ben's crazy surgery. Felt very early Grey's to me. I feel stupid, but how is this guy supposed to walk again with one leg in the center of his body? Also, how did Meredith leave at the last minute for this surgery....hello 3 kids anyone?? I guess Alex just watched them, of course. Although I hate that Alex had to be the one talking to Maggie about her love life (again) I did like his words of wisdom. I also really liked the Meredith & Callie scene outside the OR. I know some people feel like friendship is forced but I've always liked them in scenes together. Annoying stuff- Meredith is still shitting on Jo . WTF was that Jo is only coming because she practiced or something stupid like that. Silly me thought Jo was going to earn her spot there by doing something like a contest or skills lab like the old days. Plus Jo literally said 5 words and that was only in the Jo/Jackson scene. And suddenly Meredith wants Penny there? what? Penny, Stephanie and Ben really annoy me as a group. I don't feel like touching Meredith and Will Thorpe with a 5,000 ft pole right now (but I still think he's hot).
  16. I don't think its been said how long they will be there for but it seems like only for the day, They do appear to be driving there but it would be cool to see an overnight/outside of work hangout. Maybe that is how Meredith and the army doc connect. I am more curious what kind of surgery this is that requires the Chief of Ortho, Chief of General, a Plastic surgeon (is Jackson the chief of plastics?) and the Chief of Surgery. I know Jackson mentioned a bone graft in the sneak peak but it feels like this should be major (knowing this show its probably not)
  17. The chief resident thing was maybe not the best example (which Deanie said) because he knew Cristina wouldn't want to be burdened with the administrative stuff that comes with Chief Resident. But the kids thing was absolutely sexist on Owen's part. He literally could not understand why Cristina wouldn't want to have children and told her she'd change her mind once the baby came. That is the absolute wrong way to go about having a child. It was extremely sexist because he assumed since she was a woman she would automatically want to have children. One of the many reasons I was never a Crowen shipper.
  18. Wilmer Valderrama Joining ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ for Multi-Episode Arc (EXCLUSIVE) are they joking with more guest stars! As if the cast isn't large enough. I hope he is being cast as a patient and not yet another doctor or someone else to take up screen time.
  19. I agree with Deanie87. I have never liked Owen and one of the reasons was he has always been sexist in my opinion. The Cristina examples are great and he also told April to go home after she found out their was a problem with the baby (Jackson however was fine to work) and in that same episode or maybe right before or after he had also kicked Meredith out of the OR because Derek had just left.
  20. I went back and watched the episode again and agree that Chandra Wilson did a fantastic job directing. I am not sure if it was a directorial decision but I noticed that since Meredith put on the light blue gown over her scrubs, she was wearing the same color as she was during the first Katie Bryce surgery as an intern when they juxtaposed the flashbacks, rather than wearing her usual navy scrubs. I thought it was neat and I assume intentional.
  21. I would love for this NOT to happen. But a "missing body" of a person presumed dead is soap opera 101 for having them miraculously show up. It would HAVE to be with some sort of amnesia/memory loss though because I assume this incident had to have been 7+ years ago? I can't imagine she'd show up memory fully in tact and be like oh hey im back. That's a little over the top, even for Shonda, so hopefully they won't go there.
  22. I agree, it was a little strange the way it played out, however I really appreciated in all these scenes that both Meredith and Nathan were calmly able to state their cases and see each other's sides. There wasn't really a pissing contest over who was right. I mean they did argue whether it was cardio or not, but still it was probably one of the most mature disagreements on patient care pretty ever on this show. thank you for sharing this perspective. I've been a viewer ever since season 1 and have seen every episode at least 3-4 times and seasons 1-6 even more, so I love the flashbacks. But, you have an excellent point that there are probably thousands if not millions of viewers who haven't seen all episodes and certainty not multiple times.
  23. Well the writers at least acknowledged they totally screwed up the Amelia/Owen relationship by making them start over. They were basically like well we have no idea whats going on with these two so lets just make it a clean slate for us and them. I TOTALLY get why Jo might not want to get married right now. There are tons are reasons. For example, Is Alex proposing because he really wants to get married right now, or just so she doesn't leave. Does Jo want to finish her residency before getting married? There are tons are valid reasons. I just can't for the life of me figure out why we can't see these conversations. And instead we get some silly coy dialogue about the ring being in his drawer. The bolded so accurate! I have to tell myself if I want to keep watching this show it is with the understanding that it will never be what it used to be and to just accept it for what it is now. Oh and to build on what I said before about Owen's sister. Being lost and not having a body is soap speak for showing up with amnesia at just the most inopportune time. I am so not interested in Owen/Riggs drama (even though I like Riggs) that the fact that their feud was over something this non dramatic didn't even bother me. Its basically Owen being Owen. He can leave at any time now. On a different note, the music gets a thumbs up from me this week. It was much better engineered to not take away from the dialogue and I hope we have moved past the covers.
  24. I don't think they'll go there. They spent far too much time investing in why Ellis left Seattle and what happened between Ellis and Richard to be like "jk she's not really your daughter". I though Alex was saying he knows the symptoms/side effects of pregnancy from being in Peds, not that he could tell by looking at her. But Peds is NOT OBGYN. This is one of my biggest pet peeves of all time on this show.
  25. I thought I liked this episode until I started writing this. I'll start with the bad.. Jolex- What even is happening with them??? Are we ever going to find out what happened after the proposal? Why are they together if she doesn't want to say yes? What on earth have they been doing for the past 6+ weeks if not talking about the status of their relationship. I need an explanation, a real one, ASAP April- again, what even? Why is she so happy. Yea, yea , pregnancy hormones, whatever I still don't get and its weird. Callie was funny with her divorce comment though Penny- Penny running back and forth between Meredith and Amelia was probably the single worst thing on this show ever. Go away Penny. Can't be said enough. That being said, Amelia herself didn't bother me too much tonight. Her and Owen are ok to me. I'm indifferent about their relationship. I know most people don't care for her but I liked seeing her admit she'd been just clipping aneurysms because she was scared. Things I actually liked: Meredith with her cancer patient. Definitely gave me old school Grey's nostalgia. I liked Meredith and Riggs (gasp!). And I liked Katie Bryce back. I liked Arizona and Webber to a degree, but I agree some of that dialogue was cringeworthy. Oh and I like Maluca. I think they are cute. It was a definite comic relief moment, but I laughed when DeLuca found out Webber was Maggie's father. I thought Webber making DeLuca run around doing scut was a throwback to when Bailey found out about Meredith and Derek. Lastly, I have a very strong suspicion Owen's sister is alive. They are being way to ambiguous about the whole thing.
