  1. On AfterBuzz, Artem had some interesting remarks re: the differences between Val's AT with Meryl and Maks's foxtrot with same. He was completely blown away by the foxtrot. As was I. I love Val and barely like Maks, but I feel in my gut that foxtrot was better than it got credit for. I think Val and Meryl are more striking together and I'm sure they could develop chemistry if they thought it was appropriate to.
  2. I think Danica seems to be oddly lacking core strength in her posture too. It's not consistent, but every now and then, she looks like a sack o'potatoes.
  3. Over at DWTS fb, many people are angry about Julianne's comment to Maks. I am NO JULIANNE FAN - I kinda loathe her, but tptb did pretty much pre-announce that she was going to be "the honest" one and lay it on the line, so I think she was just trying to fulfill her mandate. Goes with the insane dark eyebrows too. Looking at the Meryl narrative as it played out tonight, I believe we're being set up for a Meryl upset and Charlie win, which is too bad, as I think Meryl's a better dancer and performer than Charlie.
  4. Bwahhaaahaaa. Too true. I did love his Macy's Stars of Dance though. That was wonderful. I thought Candace and Tony suited each other quite well and felt they were a little underscored. Witney did a pretty good routine for Drew; I am grudgingly impressed. Except for the awkwardnesses of the switch up (Drew appearing to like Witney better than Cheryl and etc.), I greatly enjoyed watching the dancing - I thought it was pretty interesting.
  5. I always wanted TWoP to have a boards on boards thread for each of my shows - then if people didn't want to be part of it, they could avoid it. In the brief discussion we had about board happenings on this thread, I learned a lot more in one page's reading than I could glean for myself in the several years I have been reading the board in question. My board participation is an integral part of my enjoyment of the show and being unable to talk about it at all always felt unnecessarily constraining (I grant that the rule was made for a good reason, but as I wasn't around when the rule was made, I don't really understand the reasoning).
  6. Thanks for the background on PUREDwts, I was completely taken in by their reports believing that our tweeting wasn't counting. I'll enjoy keeping a weather eye on the aftermath. re: generally reported switch-up predictions:
  7. This was one of the areas where I could hear the producer's commentary, viz. "Stop voting for Drew and Derek together; we're going to put it in our ad and then you'll get that we think it's funny and you'll stop voting for them as a couple"...
  8. I like Meryl and Maks as a couple -- much more than I like them as individuals. As a couple, I like both of them. I'm not sure that I thought that Meryl's dance was better than Danica's. I found Danica's far more emotionally engaging. James' dance was good, but he's just not very attractive to me. I don't get the he's-so-hot reaction at all. So here are the next few exits I would like to see: Cody or Candace, James, Drew or Nene. The ad for the switch up should have had a Mad-style voice-over: "Ooops, we thought everybody would be all over this on that awesome Twitter thing, but unbelievably they weren't that interested. The whole idea had more problems than we anticipated. We should have marketed the launch, but we didn't realize it until all the fan boards started reporting on the problems with the tweeting format, due the fact that we didn't explain the process clearly. It's so obvious that no celeb is willing to appear evil enough to publically ditch their original partner that we've decided to just switch back to the original partner afterwards. We effed up and now we're trying to fix it by keeping the results secret till next week so you'll have to tune in to see them."
  9. Tom talking about a show airing later tonight "on this nightwork, or why would I bother mentioning it?" Also, the ad for the switch up came with an interesting commentary in my head. It sure hasn't been going over the way they want it to, has it?
  10. I have to say that Brooke's departure has been a welcome innovation. I liked Sam Harris better than Brooke and I loathed Samantha. Erin is doing alright - I think she might even become enjoyable soon.
