  1. I think it's so cool that almost no one ever perceives this show exactly the same way, and that's evident even on this thread! 1) Who were your 5-7 favorite characters? Desmond: My sweet, passionate, somewhat crazy lost/Lost soul and searcher Penny: I know we don't know her that well so maybe it's just the Penny I've built up in my head who I love, but the little we saw of her gave me a good sense of what she's like: kind, candid, clever, loyal, brave, pragmatic but romantic, a little blunt and direct which is a nice contrast to Desmond, determined and driven to get what she wants, a little stubborn but not so much that she won't forgive Desmond or use her awful family's money to her advantage when she needs to find him. Maybe it's that I love her relationship with Desmond enough to love her more by association or that I like the actress, but Penny just felt more real to me and easy to connect with than most of the other female characters. Sawyer: The type of character I usually hate and might not have liked much at all if I were on the island, but I can't take my eyes off him, and not just because of his looks. I can't imagine the show without him Ben: Another character who I can't ever imagine the show without With others it's qualified, like I grew to love Juliet but mostly just in Season 5, and I grew to really like Jack, but primarily in Season 6, and I really enjoy Miles' snark but wouldn't say I care deeply enough about him to include him here, and there are some characters I usually like either on or off the island but not both. I might pick Jin or Hurley for the fifth spot. 2) Who were your 5-7 LEAST favorite characters? Can I list Charlie five times? It made me laugh that disliking Charlie seems to be the one thing that nearly all of us agree on. Charlie, Michael, Ana Lucia, Nikki and Paolo and Kate, though it's more like I hated the role she played as a catalyst for romantic drama and so much purposeless conflict rather than because I hate her as an individual. I don't think she would be on this list if the hideous triangle hadn't existed or been resolved after one or two seasons because I think that she had potential. I don't feel right putting John Locke on this list because of how essential he was to not just plots but the show's overall themes about science vs faith, but I found him very annoying at times. 3) How would you rank the seasons from favorite to least favorite? 3, 2, 4, 5, 6 and 1. This order seems way out of whack with everyone else's, so now I'm wondering if I'm even crazier than I think I am! I am such a big fan of Desmond, Penny and Ben that Season 1 feels lacking to me now. I also felt like Matthew Fox and Evangeline Lily became better actors as the series progressed and are noticeably bad in parts of that first season. Like some of you, I really love the focus on The Others. Season 3 has a few very bad episodes, but it's got a lot of the best ones too and is still the one that takes my breath away even though I already know everything that happens. I don't know why I like the second season so much and understand why it's at the bottom of many of your lists, but it just has some of my favorite individual episodes and ones that I find I love rewatching a lot, which isn't a given with Lost. I also liked how things expanded with the Tailies because I was already getting a little sick of focusing purely on the original characters by then. Desmond and Penny appear in Season 2, and this is when I start to like Sawyer. I actually don't like him in Season 1 at all. Season 4 is as great like many of you have said, but once I got over the thrill of seeing that we'd now be getting flash forwards instead of more flashbacks, I didn't like the flash forwards themselves as much as I had hoped. I could easily see ranking Season 4 the best, but I guess I just have more of a sentimental attachment to Season 2 and 3. Season 5 is one of those seasons I always think I'll love more than I do. Time travel fascinates me but I don't always love how they worked it into the show. At times the fifth season felt like it was trying to do too much and therefore not doing some of it as well as they could have. I really like parts of it and will always appreciate this season for making me like Juliet and for showing how effective Sawyer could be as a leader, but I don't love it as much as many of the others. For some reason Kate and Jack annoy me more this season than in almost any other one. 4) What were your 10(ish!) favorite episodes? I can't limit myself to 10! All I know is that the season finales would all rank very high on my list. 5) What were your favorite actual/would-be romantic relationships? Desmond and Penny! Sawyer and Juliet because even though part of me still doesn't think they have enough in common to work off the island, they did make each other's lives better and seemed happy together, which is a lot more than can be said for many other relationships on this show. I wish we had seen a little more of them and that the show didn't throw in the idea that even in Season 5 Sawyer might still have strong feelings for Kate, who seemed to represent who he used to be rather than the better man he was now. Libby and Hurley were sweet and, luckily for them, not a thing for long enough for the writers to make them insufferable. I like moments from most of the other relationships but was mostly either a little annoyed by them, especially when it involved the quadrangle, or just didn't care all that much one way or the other, like with Sayid and Nadia and Locke and Helen. By the middle of the series I had even stopped caring about Sun and Jin's relationship, but I did really like them for the first few seasons. 6) What were your LEAST favorite romantic relationships? Charlie and Claire, at times Jack and Kate and Sawyer and Kate
  2. The Truth Is Out There. But I love them all too!
  3. Eyes High, you stated your strangely hostile thoughts on Logan as fact, but they're actually just your opinion, and not one that everyone should feel shamed into agreeing with. And the idea of mine that you charmingly declared "bullshit" was never put forth to begin with. No one is obligated to be positive, but there's no need to go off on people for things they never said in the first place.
  4. I like to think of Logan doing something really different from what we or his family expected. I read a fanfic where he's a detective and even though it's not realistic it was fun and interesting to see Logan in that type of role. Also his parents would hate that lol. But the funny thing about Logan running away from his family's business is that I could see him as a better fit for journalism than Rory ever was. We already know he's a very good writer and he likes debating and discussing issues. He would be more assertive than Rory and is less socially awkward so I could see people opening up and giving candid answers. Rory seems to fit better with fiction, writing or editing or teaching it. Whatever he's doing, I hope he's earned his own money and not depending on his parents. It would be fun to see him living a very middle class life. I think that would do a lot to improve his likability with some fans. I always say this too! Gilmore Girls other male characters were so aggressively rude and bitter all the time so Logan's energy came as a relief for me. He had at least as many flaws as the other guys did but they were different flaws which made things more interesting. And a lot of his flaws stemmed from his upbringing. He was both pressured and spoiled which is not a good combination lol. He's still responsible for his choices so I'm not pulling the poor little rich boy thing. A lot of people have lives a whole lot worse and turn out better. Believe me, I do not feel sorry for him! But a lot of us have to struggle to overcome how we were raised and to figure out what other people expect from us versus who we want to be ourselves. I'm still doing it now so I understand Logan still doing that in his early 20s. I like him for Rory because Rory can be an introverted and even passive personality and he encourages her to experience and enjoy life. And he is actually the best male communicator on the show, though on this show that's not saying much lol. There are a few different times when he was the one communicating maturely and directly about their relationship without being harsh and angry like most GG males while Rory was avoidant. He didn't just think charm and big gestures were enough, he did try to talk and connect when issues came up. He has the wit and intellect to keep up but he has a good heart too. He's not there just for the good times and was the first to show up at the hospital when Richard had another heart attack. I just think he and Rory both make each other better, not just Rory making him more serious and deep. And he likes that she is kind of dorky and bookish. If she changed, to me that is on her and not Logan. He liked that she wasn't the typical debutante type and made that clear IMO. I am not excusing his flaws and I know many hate him. I think if I knew him I wouldn't want to date him but I'm not Rory. I just think he they're each other's right match and care about each other a lot. I also think other posters are right that it depends a little on whether you think Matt C.'s smile is sincere or a smug smirk lol. I think that's just how he smiles so I see him as more genuine and sincere! I first really liked him when he insisted that Rory take his car to get back to Lorelai faster in Say Something. He showed real compassion and it was clear to me then that he could switch out of fun party mode and be serious when he's supposed to be. This is all just my take!
  5. I wrote paragraphs in the unpopular opinions thread about why I grew to really like Logan and the Rory and Logan relationship so I don't want to repeat myself but I would love to hear from other people who like them too! When did you start liking them? What are your favorite moments between them? When do you think he fell in love with Rory? What do you think Logan would be doing now? If we can post pictures here it would be fun to share favorite pictures of them too. I just can't figure out how!
  6. I don't know what to vote for because I love all of them! I'll pick Wendigo and Woogy.
  7. Can we do a question about hairstyles? I want to know which ones people like best and worst! I hate Phoebe's hair the most in Season 3. It was such a terrible idea to her blonde hair and it was permed and crimped or something then too. It's just terrible. I'm always relieved when she wears it up or back that season so that it doesn't distract me lol. I also don't like the short pixie cut in Season 6 or the bangs that are too short in parts of Season 4. I think I love her hair the most in the fifth and seventh seasons. I like Prue's hair the best in season 3 and the least in Season 1. She has amazing hair and I'm very jealous of it! Piper has beautiful hair too. I think she looks especially beautiful when she wears it up. I like her bangs too. Sorry to be so shallow but I thought this question might be fun!
  8. I thought Logan and Rory fit together really well and am the only person I know who wants to see them together in the revival even though that probably won't happen! Someone else wrote that they had a perfect combination of things in common and differences that balanced each other. She brought out his more deep and serious sides and he helped her relax and enjoy life more. But they also have a lot more similarities than we expected. Logan is great with words, he's quick witted and likes debating ideas just like she does. I think he's smarter and more caring than we give him credit for. He challenges her without being too rude and confrontational about it. I feel like he wanted so much for her to be happy. Logan has a lot of problems and maybe I wouldn't like him in real life. But he grew at a time in the series when most of the other characters slid backwards. I agree that falling off a cliff improved him lol but I liked him even before then. I agree so much with the poster who said that it was a nice change to have a guy who tried to be happy, pleasant and positive when most of the men on the show are so rude, negative and always angry about something. I never hated him for being rich and privileged. Sometimes it seems like Gilmore Girls tries to send a message that all rich people are shallow and less caring and only the characters without as much money can be truly good people but I just don't see things that way. You can't help the family you're born into and how you're brought up. I do blame Logan for being arrogant, bratty, condescending and too into partying but I really think he worked on his flaws. To me he almost always had a very good heart underneath and was there for Rory though obviously that's unpopular. Rory didn't seem happy most of the time with Dean or Jess and I kind of agree with people who said that Lorelai didn't seem as happy with Luke but when Logan and Rory were together and not having TV type problems I thought they made each other happier than any other relationship we saw on the show. Logan is not usually the type of guy I like at all so I was surprised by how he became one of my favorite characters. Thank you for having this thread that lets us make our confessions! I know that liking Logan so much is strange and can understand why people don't like him. Maybe it would help if he had other friends. I read a few fanfics where he became friends with the people in Stars Hollow and it brought out the down to earth and likable sides of him we don't see as much when he's with Finn and Colin.
  9. Dead Man Dating, Secrets and Guys, The Power of Two
  10. 1. If you had to pick just two favorite sisters of the four, they would be____ Prue and Paige. But I loved Phoebe and Piper at the beginning too! 2. Your three favorite romantic pairings of the series are ___ Cole and Phoebe before it got too repetitive. Leo and Piper before it got too depressing. Prue and Andy before he died! 3. Your three LEAST favorite romantic pairings of the series are _____ Dan and Piper. Phoebe and Jason. Prue and Jack. I'm filling these out and realizing that I'm indifferent to Paige's romances. She's the only one who didn't make my list of favorites or least favorites. 4. Your three favorite seasons were ____ Season 4, Season 7 and Season 3. A lot of the posts here helped me realize how much I love the first season though. I love the fifth one too! 5. Your five favorite episodes are_____ Sin Francisco Morality Bites Deja Vu All Over Again Long Live the Queen Something Wicca This Way Goes These are tied with many other favorites though. They're just the ones that occurred to me first. Since asf said we could add questions, I have one for whoever sees this. Which of the sisters' relationships was your very favorite? I would pick Prue and Phoebe. Also which seasons and episodes are at the bottom of your lists?
  11. I'll vote against I've Got You Under My Skin, Dead Man Dating and The Fourth Sister.
  12. I really love Prue. She's the sister that I'm the most different from but she also may be the one I look up to the most. Her relationships with both of her sisters are so great and reflect so well on who she is. Her protectiveness and overdeveloped sense of responsibility makes so much sense when you think about how their mom died when they were young. I read somewhere that people think Prue is too serious but I like serious characters and thought she was a great counterpoint to Phoebe. Shannen Dougherty played the part in a way that gave Prue depth and I like her intensity. I also think she's funnier than some people think she is though. She's really clever and witty and actually laughs a lot with her sisters. The best is that even though she can be prideful and is very confident she can laugh at herself a lot too. What do people think about her career at Bucklands and in photography? At first I couldn't see her as an arty and creative type but now I like that her jobs showed that side of her. It seems like there's a part of her that's sentimental. I could see her caring even more than her sisters about the history of their family and saving old photos. I liked her and Andy and love the idea someone had about them solving mysteries in supernatural worlds. Her relationships with her sisters mean more to me though. It still disappoints me so much that we never got to see her with Paige. I said somewhere else that I think of Paige as a combination of Prue and Phoebe and would have loved to see their relationship. Do people think they would have been close? Same with me. I wanted Prue to stay because I loved her but if she were played by a different actress it just wouldn't be Prue at all.
  13. This looks like a lot of fun even though it's going to be a challenge! I love so many of the episodes. Even the episodes that I know aren't good are sometimes ones that I feel nostalgic about. Thank You For Not Morphing The Wedding from Hell Out of Sight
  14. I hate the trope that if two people fight all the time and always annoy each other they're meant to be together. A lot of TV shows have this idea that people who get along and make each other happy are too boring so the right person is apparently one who always clashes with you and gets angry around you a lot because that's supposed to mean there's passion. It makes me uncomfortable sometimes.
  15. I finally chose my avatar for this site and decided it has to be of Paige! I blame this thread lol.
  16. I want to agree with almost every post in this thread!!! I don't have time to reply now except to rank the seasons but I'll read it again later and try to comment more. Season 4 Season 7 I didn't know until I came here that other people love the seventh season too Season 5 Season 3 Season 6 Season 2 Season 1 Season 8 Everyone has different orders so far but I think it's funny that on this and the other thread I read almost every poster has the last season at the bottom!!!
  17. Paige is my very very favorite!!! I said on the Unpopular Opinions thread that she is not just my favorite Halliwell but also one of my favorite TV characters. I think I see her like a combination of Prue and Phoebe in the best ways. She's funny, caring, kooky, animated, passionate and sometimes acts without thinking like Phoebe but sarcastic, smart, sometimes cynical, intense, stubborn and independent like Prue. I love these questions because it made me ask myself why I love her so much. That's the best I could come up with lol. As for hair the only time I didn't like it was when it was really blonde. I love it brown, red and even strawberry blonde. I think she's so gorgeous in this really interesting and unique way.
  18. I just saw asf mention this show in the GG Meet Market and am so happy to find out that posters still care about this show!!! I have it on DVD and still record most episodes on TNT anyway. I have so many opinions that I don't even know where to start so I apologize for jumping around a lot. - I love this show more than Buffy, The X-Files, Supernatural and other shows of its type that you're supposed to like much more than Charmed. Nothing against those shows but Charmed has always meant more to me and I connect with it more. - Paige is my very favorite sister. She is actually still one of my favorite TV characters. - I agree that the tone changed during the Paige years but the unpopular opinion is that I loved the change! This is nothing against Prue but I like that the show was more funny, high energy, campy and alive once she left. The more melodramatic, crazy and over the top stuff just works for a show like this one. It just became more fun for me to watch again and again. The Prue years feel more awkward, like the show was trying to be taken more seriously and just not sure how to balance everything it wanted to do. The first and second seasons are probably the lowest on my list even though I love some episodes. The last season ranks dead last and it's the only one I don't watch as much but that almost doesn't count since that seems true for almost every Charmed fan lol. - I am the only Charmed fan who didn't mind when Cole went insane in the fifth season. I thought parts of it made for great TV and wasn't that out of character. - Phoebe's other boyfriends were pointless like other people said but I agree with whoever said they love Billy Zane as Drake in the seventh season and wished he was around longer. I think it would have been great if Phoebe had ended up single but happy anyway since she was always the most boy crazy and the one who thought she needed a man to feel complete. - I hated Phoebe's short hair in the sixth season so much. I usually don't care that much about how they wore their hair or even the weird outfits but that haircut annoyed me even more than her dyed blond hair in the third season. - Piper and Leo's relationship was cute as the beginning but it became the only part of the show I didn't like! I just feel like they had the same issues again and again and made each other miserable too much of the time. Leo was nice but not interesting enough to be involved in so much conflict and drama and the actor was kind of bland. I just wanted the writers to keep him as a happy whitelighter and husband or have him and Piper split up for good. At least Phoebe's relationships didn't last too long but Piper and Leo just kept dragging on with those same issues about the elders and duty and it made Piper such a wet blanket sometimes. Like someone else wrote before, this show has enough battles and conflicts without that much angst having to come from your significant other. - I know Shannen Dougherty and Alyssa Milano didn't get along but the relationship between Prue and Phoebe was my favorite because they overcame conflict and balanced each other out. Paige is a funny combination of both characters so it would have been so great to see her with Prue. - I agree that Phoebe was much easier to love in the first half of the show but my unpopular opinion is that I still loved her anyway and think she added to the show. I will sometimes even take her over Piper, who like I said became such a wet blanket. I can understand why a lot of people love Piper the most and might agree that Holly Marie is the best actress but I just like the energy of the other sisters more. I think if the writers gave her fewer of those same issues with Leo and her sons and different types of plots instead that I would love her more. - If I could watch just two seasons of the series I would pick the fourth and the seventh. I warned you that I had some feelings about this show that were unpopular!
  19. I feel the same way but can't explain why either. If you described the character to me I would think I'd really like her but I just couldn't stand her scenes. She was really awful when Cora came up with the plan to explain Marigold living at Downton, negative and judgmental without coming up with any better suggestions. She always came off as arrogant and unlikable to me. I was happy she wasn't around much.
  20. I think Luke does have interests though. He likes outdoorsy stuff like camping and fishing. He likes baseball. He obviously likes to cook. As you said he likes to build and fix things, which is a real skill and talent. He even likes movies and TV shows enough to rant about them! And everyone on this show teases each other a little about what they're into but not really in a mean way. He says something in the episode where he builds Lorelai an ice rink about how he knows he's grumpy about things but doesn't want her to be. That always sticks with me because I think that he likes how she's enthusiastic about a lot of stuff even when he grumbles about it. I don't like how he handled things there or after the stuff at Richard and Emily's vow renewal either. But I think he really only storms off two or three times in the whole series. It's not ideal behavior but not often or terrible enough to be a really big problem. I'm not trying to argue you out of your opinion at all! You make a lot of good points and we can all like who we like. I just think that Luke's good sides outweigh the bad ones. I also like how sometimes you see the actor smile a little after he's been ranting like he is reminding Lorelai and the rest of us not to take him too seriously!
  21. Oh my gosh, I'm so embarrassed! Sorry, everyone. I'll try to fix my post and then slink away in shame!
  22. I just saw the episode where Lorelai and Luke go on their first date again. I don't think it's unpopular to love that episode so it's probably not too strange that it's one of my favorite episodes of the whole series. The thing that may be unpopular is that I don't think Logan is a jerk in this episode. I'm not trying to be a Logan apologist even though I probably am lol. I can admit when he is totally in the wrong and I can't stand him when he steals from Emily and Richard's house and when we find out he sleeps with those bridesmaids. He can also be a jerk around his friends and when he drinks too much. I hated how he acted when Jess came to visit Rory. I liked him in that first episode we meet him though. I think we see right away that he can keep up with Rory intellectually and has the quick wit that she likes. You can see that he challenges her which is what she needs and what Dean doesn't give her at least by that point. I don't think Logan was rude and condescending to Marty when he asks him to be his bartender again. Colin was a jerk like he always is but Logan was actually friendly. Maybe they shouldn't have shown him around those friends so much. I'm not saying people would like Logan anyway because I can see why they don't but I think he's sometimes guilty by association, like he seems worse than he is because he chooses to hang around those guys but he's almost never the one being mean or even really snobby. I think this is the post where I show I can be a Logan apologist even when I say I won't be!
