  1. MCE is seven years older than new Adam. To me that is utterly insignificant. EB is 15 years older than MTS and they’ve been a believable couple (with respect to age) for 30 years. Sharon Case will look older than him but she’s also hot af so I hardly think this is some creepy, earth-shattering issue. I’d have preferred another actress as Chelsea but not because MCE is soooooo old compared to the new guy. We haven’t even seen him play Adam yet. How are we so sure he’ll look like a kid? He’s not. He’s in his 30s for goodness sake.
  2. So Gina is filming her final week (just saw on Instagram). That means just one more month of the neck jutting, a short break, then JAZZ HANDS. #whywontphyllisdie
  3. Lets see: Mal is fired and immediately ED reprises her role whenever needed, MCE coming back, DD back, GR back, KSJ had tweeted he would be back more as well before sadly passing, EB getting big story again, TEB (and likely CLB) filming lots again, nuAdam hired and filming..... ...but. Gina. Is. Out. The Gina Tognoni Variety Hour crashed hard didn’t it? Lmao
  4. I loathed Shadam because it was silly and done at the expense of the Sharon character. No sane woman would find the man who watched her grieve for her baby (that he stole and gave away) hot. I think this amnesia and Shadam tease is just an angle to bring Adam back while explaining Chelsea’s absence or rather explaining Adam not looking for Connor. It buys show time to cast Chelsea if need be. Two newbies right away would be a bad idea. Establish newest Adam first, then maybe cast Chelsea.
  5. Me too. Cannot stand watching her. I actually FFd her brief moment with SM at Neil’s funeral, the only part I FFd in days. I noticed show cut her section in the tribute episode. Lmao. (There were pics in the mag of her and CLB and TEB at Jabot but they remained on the editing room floor.) Sadly we will see her through May. She hasn’t announced that she’s done taping yet.
  6. Yeah Summer has certainly taken on the victim role. I do think Kyle faking loving her and shagging her a couple of times was unnecessary. Summer told him she understood he needed time to get over Lola. And as I saw it she was prepared to accept no sex or declarations of love as long as she got her one year of marital fidelity. So she can call him out for the faking and fucking and feeding her delusions of their eternal love. But she absolutely used her liver as leverage so it was a dirty game she put in motion. She is no innocent victim. I’m already bored though. Is Summer going to be the Patty-esque angst for Kola? Sigh. It’s so one note. Woman goes crazy for asshole who is lovey dovey with another woman. I hope this will shape up in a way I don’t expect.
  7. Neil was over giving Victor pep talks not too long ago but that was probably more a reflection of poor writing and not knowing what to do with Neil. But it is true that he was one of the few business people Victor didn’t plot against or vice versa. However that eulogy felt much more as though it were EB addressing his relationship with KSJ. Jack’s was much more in character. But that makes sense. EB is basically Victor; and PB is the professional. But for me it meant EB’s speech was more emotional (ie got to me more). A lot of reel/real blurring in these episodes.
  8. Exactly! My throat hurts from crying (watched all the epis last night). Show did good. That was beautifully done. Every bit of it. I can’t really even comment because it felt so personal but two moments killed me: The projection of KSJ and Devon/BJ saying “why’d you have to go and do that, man?” And CK/Lily’s sobbing “he should have had more time on this earth.” I’m so grateful to all of them, writers, cast, crew, for doing that for us. The ratings and media attention will be good and all but this week was for us, the soap viewers who are bereaved by the sudden loss of this too young man who’s been in our lives for years, and I am genuinely moved.
  9. I was sitting at my desk at work crying over recaps! I am going to be sobbing when I watch.
  10. I’m going to save this week’s episodes to watch in one go on the weekend. Alone. With a box of Kleenex. Just too sad for words. Good on Kyle for at least being honest. I’m impressed show took this route. I think he’s trash of course but Summer was playing a gross game so.... I just wasn’t here for him pretending to be “committed” to her while cheating with Saint Lola. I’d be surprised if it’s over. Wonder if she turns up pregnant? (If she does I don’t see the baby being born.) Lola’s line about Kyle not realizing his feelings for Summer were for a reason. As were her references to her dad checking out when her mom was pregnant with her. And of course the knife.... hmmmm
  11. Right. She’s on for the non-scripted portion, like they did for JC. So is MiM. Neither is appearing as their characters.
  12. VR has sued CBS multiple times. Other actors aren't the issue. In fact MS and VR had a reconciliation of sorts about 5 years ago. They were both pumping gas at the same station, saw each other and were all "I love you". lmao. I wish I were making this up but they both declared it on Twitter at the time. Anyways, the litigious stuff is the problem, not personalities. Which is not to say it can't be resolved. But I could see the brass saying no way, even if the HW/EP were okay with her returning. The pic with VR, BJ and CK was nice. VR has said many nasty things about CK (and many others on set). So it looks like everyone was civil.
  13. Oh this is going to be hard to watch. What a lovely touch though, Devon with Neil’s suit. Gah.
  14. I agree. He did look frail. But I think young Dina was there deliberately to help Jack move out from his father’s shadow. John appearing would have undermined it. Jack is emotionally stunted. In a recent interview PB talked about why Jack is continually drawn to a woman like Phyllis. It’s *because* she betrays/abandons him - a pattern put in place by his mother. I love how Josh is fleshing out characters and establishing motivation. Jack’s been flailing for years (largely because of shit writing). And those scenes were meant to help viewers understand why in a way that doesn’t just pretend those years didn’t happen. I thought they were great. Especially because like real life, nothing was resolved. But Jack and Dina were written as fully fleshed humans. Not plot points.
  15. yep it's a joke Peter has told over the years. ie "Don't I look Cuban (with my blue eyes and fair hair)?
  16. I'm home sick today so I was just listening to the DC podcast from the week Tognoni was announced out and Stafford in. OMG it's so maddening. They are all reasonably saying: Gina is a respected soap veteran. She won an Emmy in this role. She did it for FIVE years. Yeah she was not really Phyllis but a kind of new character and she didn't sizzle with Jack and Nick and even Michael and Cricket but STILL. This was shocking news. And then Jillian Bowe comes in (she who broke the story and who fawns over MS on social media) and declares it's not such a big deal. Y&R is rebuilding and they need to make power moves. MS will BRING THE RATINGS BACK. GH WAS WASTING HER. um. 1. No she won't. And 2. what GH was doing is of no concern to Y&R. Anyways the guys (whoever they were they sounded waaaay more reasonable than Bowe I have to say) more or less accepted her view. Then one of them says but this show let Michael Morgan walk and she was important to show's canvas. And so it's all very confusing because of course MS would not be cheap and MiM was let go over money. Bowe concurs, adding: YOU KNOW MICHELLE DID NOT TAKE A PAY CUT. Really? We know that do we? In a dying genre we know a 50something actress who left five years earlier in a sulk didn't take a pay cut to reprise her role? No one mentions The Gina Tognoni Variety Hour under Mal. That she signed a three-year contract under him and maybe Gina was MAKING A BOMB and so a swap with Stafford might have saved them money. In other words, this is not about spending more money at all and nothing to do with MiM. And no one on this podcast, no one is looking at the facts as they ponder the why why why was Gina let go so coldly. FACTS: Gina pimped Philly the same week new HW Sally declared them dead, and continued to do so as Sally wrote Villy coming together again. She In Your Face publicly disrespected her HW, that HW was let go only months later in humiliating fashion after which Philly promptly became front and centre (remember Mal's first episode when the writing flipped on a dime and we had Philly romcom all the time?). Sally's husband is now EP. And Gina is fired. She didn't get a face saving "I'm leaving because the commute is hard" press release. No "we are soooo sorry this wonderful actress chose to leave but we are thrilled to welcome back Michelle" from Angelica. Her firing was leaked and she did not deny it. I'm not saying 1000% this is why Gina was let go. I don't know exactly how or why she was tossed on her ass. But no one thought to mention the above as a possible contributing factor? Really???? If Sally were my wife I'd have fired Gina's ass the second I could. I can see Morina saying Gina is out and CBS/Sony saying "well, we don't know, viewers won't like it..." and then MS becoming available. "Okay fine let's swap her out for the OG," says Morina. Sony/CBS approves and it's done. I don't think show is so deluded they think Jazz Hands is going to be a saviour for the Young and the Restless in 2019. If this was about familiarity and a ratings boost show would have sought out BM to trade for JT. THAT is the recast that never made sense, doesn't work (show is invested in the Abbott-Newman Villy pairing and has been for a decade) and Billy Miller's age hits the key demographic. Gina was fine with PB. It was the romcom insanity with Billy that took her character off the rails. It's not like Cricket-Phyllis is front and centre any more. Nor is Michael-Phyllis. Phack worked and that's what Gina was hired to sell. Phick did not but that pairing has been dead for coming on a decade. They didn't re-recast Phyllis for JM. And they sure as hell didn't recast her for ratings. Ratings are already better with Phyllis being rewritten in character. Boy I miss real journalists covering soaps.
  17. I know, right? That was idiotic. Also him teasing fans with that cryptic "turning the page" tweet is pretty shitty -- if he's NOT leaving. Like what is the point?
  18. This Neil stuff is going to be so sad. I can hardly handle the pictures.
  19. He used the hashtag #yr so it sure sounds like he's out. Plus the tweet just before it was kind of like Gina's cryptic Instagram post when she knew she was out but it wasn't public. Something like "life is hard but you can get through it".
  20. Oh I love this!!!!! Jack got to throw the affair in her face. Finally. And I agree that Jack would still have fire in him. He is show’s OG bad boy. And @spinxella these gif recaps are BRILLIANT!!! What a great way to watch the show, lol. Thank you!!!
  21. This made me laugh. "Soap noir". LOVE that Phyllis is losing everything and that Jack gets to enjoy victories. Especially against HER. ugh. She's revolting. She actually expresses moral outrage about cheating to Jack? (Did she? I haven't watched yet.) Now I want Summer to find out she was going to humiliate her publicly so she can throw her out of her life too. This is what I believe was going to happen if Mal were still in charge. Phyllis and Billy would have found their way back together, bonding over sexay times during late night Jabot meetings. Jack would be on once every two or three weeks to maybe talk to Kyle briefly but otherwise remain unemployed but also kind and wise and very, very old, and Kerry would have moved on to a younger guy on show. And of course Old Jack would return for the Philly wedding, to give Phyllis away naturally. CEO Phyllis would have taken Jabot to the highest heights the company has ever experienced (with Lauren by her side -- but of course we'd never actually SEE Lauren). Kyle and Billy would be AMAZED at her brilliance but Billy would sometimes challenge her but that would only be foreplay. Philly would have a new house somewhere, in the form of a completely new set and their retired Philly racehorse could live in the barn outside, and they'd giggle after sex one day and say something about having a baby. So then they'd start trying and Phyllis would have fertility issues because they need some angst but miraculously because of their GREAT LOVE she'd get pregnant, and Johnny and Katie would be thrilled and so too would Summer. In fact they would all bond. This awesome new family would sit around their new dining table with Billy at the head of it. A Philly baby (named Phillip because show history and future all in one!!) would arrive in due course and result in hilarious hijinks for years to come.
  22. I read that she was invited but had a conflicting schedule (in Europe I believe).
  23. I didn’t realize that re Noemi. Interesting...I kind of believe it, too. (That’s she’s out.)
