  1. I think the point was to show how Lorelai's "unique" style and being would clash with the school and embarrass Emily. I think the show went over the top sitcom with it but that is one of the issues Amy&Dan seemed to have from time to time. I always wish that Amy could have found a female partner who would understand what Amy wanted to do but be able to shape it to fit the drama aspects of the show better. These dramedies need to ground the sitcom humor better. I don't know exactly how to do it but the best humor of these shows prove it's more than doable.

  2. Here's ASP's take

    Quote

Amy on Lorelai and Luke: “We’ve got a lot of Luke-Lorelai stuff we’re playing this year. A lot of ups and downs and twists and turns for them, in getting these kids to the altar. And we’ve also got Rory and Logan too, they’re having a tumultuous year also. They’re working their way back together. In [‘Friday Night’s Alright for Fighting’] Logan came through for her in a way she needed. He stepped it up a notch in that episode. That’s their reconciliation. For now.

“We brought Luke’s daughter in not so much to play ‘Oh my God, there’s a long lost daughter,’ but more to play, ‘Who are Luke and Lorelai to each other?’ They’re two mid-thirties people who have built very independent lives, needing no one, they’ve got their own homes, their own businesses; they’ve got things just the way they like them. They’re incredibly independent and strong-willed and stubborn, and those are tough lives to mesh.

“The daughter thing was just a way to tap into an aspect of Luke that makes things interesting for the Luke-Lorelai relationship. Luke is very duty-bound and honor-bound and he feels great responsibility to family, even though family is something he scoffs at a lot. He’s also a very single-minded, tunnel-vision person. So he’s going to feel he’s got to take care of this responsibility before he can take care of any other responsibility. Right or wrong, it’s who he is.

“It’s a great device for us because [the daughter plot] taps into that without bringing in another woman or another romance, because nobody’s going to believe that. These two people are meant for each other, the only think keeping them apart right now is their own baggage.

“And Lorelai, being an incredibly independent, proud person, she’s not a pusher. She’s not going to say, ‘But what about me?’ It’s sometimes their own lack of communication abilities that have kept them single this long, and that causes our conflict -- so we don’t have to bring in the big elephant or the earthquake or ‘We’re trapped in an elevator’ or someone’s in a coma.”

  3. @macstarli @marineg and @deaja

You guys are awesome. Truly communicating what needed to be said about Logan's POV and Rory's state of mind. And vice versa.

  4. Logan had no respect for Honor's friends before he was being confronted with "cheating" with them. In season 5 he said the Yacht would be filled with Honor’s ditzy friends.  Sleeping with girls you know are not someone who would choose happens a lot with rebound upset comfort sex,

Rory doesn't really ask for space, she just stops talking. It's what she did after the pub fight. She even goes on a short vacation with Lorelai. When Rory takes Logan back after she fights with the Bridesmaids, she wants space but she doesn't ask for it. She is passive aggressive with Logan, hides in Stars Hollow and goes to Philadelphia (imo on a whim not to purposely cheat back). When Rory tells Logan she doesn't want to see him in The perfect dress, though he does send her gift, he personally doesn't show up at her place or the coffee cart again until he gets the letter from Lorelei.

And the revival, Logan does not try to convince Rory she needs him or his family. In Spring Rory ask Logan to get Mitchum's help. She's embarrassed and he tells her not to be. And in Fall, He offers the house but nothing about influence or power. When she tells him she has somewhere to write, he's sad but takes the key back. Logan was supportive and encouraging of Rory's career. He tried to warn her about Naomi and was honest about Sandy Says while being encouraging and praising her talent.

Logan had his issues but forcing himself or his family on Rory wasn't one of them.  Logan's go to his facts and Rory tries to hurdle the line between facts and feelings and doesn't always know when to stand her ground. When she stands her ground Logan doesn't push back. Rory often has the upper hand in their relationship she just doesn't always know how to take initiative even in relationships. Imo. Though that really is for a different thread.

  5. While I think a Quentin death could affect both Sara and his not Daughter "Laurel",  I will be sad if he dies. For a split second reading EW's article on this I thought maybe there was a chance PB would move over to Legends, but I soon realized that's unlikely. His departure was probably announced now because his role in something else is about to be announced.

Paul Blackthorne will not be returning to the flagship CW super show as a series regular for season 7

  6. Mitchum was right on the surface but he was a dick. Knowing Shiva went all Shiva and checked into a Spa and that Honor was going to take some time to get home from her honeymoon,  Mitchum refused to go see critically injured Logan in the Hospital. I get being angry at him for engaging in risky behaviors such as base jumping but still. If Rory didn't push Mitchum's buttons into going, Logan would only have the people Mitchum and/or the family wanted out of Logan's life.

  7. Well there is also this which could give him access to more money. Reminds me a bit of the father in the movie Say Anything.

KIRK: I befriend really old women.

    LUKE: Excuse me?

KIRK: Really old women need companionship, Luke. They are really old. Most people they know are dead. So when someone comes along, and they are not dead and they'll listen to their stories and care about their dosage, they are grateful.

    LUKE: Are you serious?

KIRK: Serious as a heart attack. Which is how I got that ring you're holding right now. So what do you think?

  8. I think Ray edging dark will be the most impactful. Everybody considers him a boyscout. He's one of the originals. Zari and Nate have a bond with him as well.

Ray's nannite gun will probably be used for deadly purposes with dragons and such around. And he keeps losing friends/family. I can see why things might get to him

I haven't listened to the video, but why are people assuming it's a character on Legends and not a new job opportunity? It would still be a slip up whether it pertained to a role on Legends or elsewhere.

I'm actually fine with Nate or Amaya leaving. I found their scenes repetitive and the whole Zambesi/totem thing never really interested me. Having said that, it's going to bother me if the Zambesi thing isn't resolved in a believable way (though, that's probably already impossible to do--a whole village survived that shouldn't have).

Because they were talking about finding out there was a Vixen Lance ship or people shipping it. That much I could hear.

  10. In a BTS at a con today, Caity says to Maisie, "Maybe your new character". Is this a spoiler? I can't link to the exact spot on my tablet but it's about 3.31 into the video? I can barely hear what is being said with all of noise so I can't tell what the conversation is about.

  11. I personally love fantasy more than sci fi but I have fears about Constantine joining. That he will either take over or fans of the character won't be amused if he's a teamish player. Comic fans already b!tch about other comic characters that are supposed to be leads not being the LEAD of the CW show that they are on. Constantine also will have his tv fans whining. Doesn't sound like fun to me.

I also did think next season would be more future stories. Looking into what happens with Zari, A.R.G.U.S and how something like AVA could happen. I mean I was thinking Ava was probably a robot at the time but now it makes even more sense to head into future stories. More magic does seem out of place in that direction.

Something must happen to time magically for Constantine to have stories and that makes me worried about him taking over.

  12. I personally only see Siren move over to Legends if she's part of a villain team. And only if she is the one to kill Quentin.

Otherwise there is just no value to have her on Legends. The potential to cause conflict onset seems not worth it. And KC is best when playing slightly crazy evil. IMO of course. Legends hasn't really done anything with Laurel except be motivation for Sara.

  13. Because Rory was very subdued and needed to tap into a strength in herself that maybe she wasn’t doing so much, because she has a very strong mom and strong friends. She never really had to do that. She never really had to dig down deep and find out who she was. And this guy made her have to do that. So when you talk about it on that level, there could be more there [between Rory and Logan] - Amy Sherman Palladino mid s6

Rory does "things" since episode one. Deciding not to go to Chilton because of Dean. She changes her mind because her mom made a sacrifice for her. By the time Rory is with Logan, Rory has done a ton of impulsive stuff and has lived way from her mother for a year. Rory is in the stages of self discovery.

Rory has to make choices at every step of her relationship with Logan. They have these verbal pro con list with her making her choices at the end. I personally think they learn and grow together.  Especially in the OS.

Telling her to call him Master and Commander was a joke. A minute earlier Logan had said, "Tell me that wasn't fun?" Which is a quote from the movie.

  14. I had some issue as well. Another male character calling a women a bitch. And DP said it so aggressive. Also Mick kept asking Zari to eat "pork". Just too much. Last week Mick was drunk and sleeping. This week just uninvolved. I sense a bit of Flanderization.

And yeah Amaya is getting a bit sad trying to put off her destiny. She knows they can't Willy Nilly change history and keep the timeline stable. I think Amaya SHOULD talk to Mari at this point. She needs to know what her sacrifice means.

Jess is a good actress and Sara and Ava are OK but at the sane time I don't need Ava's backstory or centricness at this point. If Ava leaves I wouldn't care. I know they have to deal with WLW fans freaking out at another lost relationship but this isn't the ride or die couple.

I also think it's time to get a little more of the serious side of Ray.

I still love the show the most of any of the Arrowverse shows. It's the most fun show but they do need to balance a little better sometimes with the cartoonishness.
