  1. Hello everyone. So I realize I have many pages to catch up on, but I thought I'd ask anyway: does anyone know what the deal is about Joe and Mika being in D.C.? I mean, I THINK they're in D.C. They aren't in NYC for sure. And I figured Joe was gone last week for his kids spring break, but he's still broadcasting from The Bunker this week and Meekz is somewhere else (I can't figure out if it's NYC or D.C.) Do they live in D.C. part of the year? Has MJ always broadcast from D.C. during this time of year or is that new? As a relatively new fan I don't know if this is "normal" or not? I know Mika's family has a home somewhere but now I can't remember where it is. Does Joe still live in CT? Do they live there or do they live at Mika's house in Westchester County? And do we know when they're getting married? I know they said something last year about getting married in Nantucket in the spring - so if that's true they must be getting married fairly soon. Also, has anyone else noticed that Joe has taken down ALL his music from Apple and Spotify? I think it happened in Feb or March of this year. It may have been after the NRA started going after J&M after the school shooting. But, seriously, ALL of his music is gone. He actually used to be pretty active on his Scarborough Music Facebook page and now he barely posts on there. He was actually incredibly nice on FB to the fans (myself included. He commented on, liked, and tagged me on Facebook on a fairly regular basis from July 2017 to January 2018 - NOT in a sketchy way - and I was quite impressed with him) and seemed really happy. I don't always agree with everything that comes out of his mouth but it truly seemed like he was a nice guy. I'm also (don't laugh) a fan of his music. As midlife crisis music vanity projects go he's pretty good. To wit: go and listen to David Duchovny's music and prepare to throw up (and I LOVE Duchovny.) Anyway, it really annoys me when they aren't in the studio together. I'll just simply erase any episode that has Meek by herself because she's just so goddamned grating and her news readings skills are...unfortunate. But in my opinion the show just isn't the same when they're not in person and together. I also really miss Willie. Where in the hell has he been? I'll say I'm happy as hell Halpern is gone but do you guys think they'll bring back Harold Ford? I actually really like John Heilman (sp) and Donnie didn't annoy me today.
  2. Hello everyone. New to MJ and the fandom(?) but not new to TWOP/PTV (used to post a lot on the Castle forum and loved to take the piss out of that show especially as it slid down the shitter). Confessions: 1) I think Joe is hot as fuck and would climb him like a tree. 2) I actually love (most) of Joe's music and willingly listen to it multiple times a day (context: I was/am an X Files/David Duchovny/Gillian Anderson fan and cringed in horror watching David - who I generally adore - attempt his musical midlife crisis and it was just...wretched). 2a) I was one of those weirdo fans that totally shipped David and Gillian as a real life couple (over it now as Gillian is dating a tiny troll man who wrote The Crown) and there are a striking number of similarities between David and Gillian and Joe and Mika - which are long and involved and probably of little entertainment value to anyone except for me. 3) I also like Mika and think she's a gorgeous woman with and without makeup. One of the things I really love about Joe is that he seems to love posting pictures of her without makeup, wearing her sunglasses on her head and just dressed like a normal woman. She has her flaws but I truly think she's a good person - though not always the most polished broadcaster. And I do think she's insecure, which could be related to her family, etc. 4) I am absolutely in love with Joe and Mika being in love. There was an article in New York magazine about them that had this quote, and I think it sums it up rather well: "But whatever else you think of them, you've gotta take beauty where you can find it these days, and these are two people who really fucking love each other." There's so much bullshit and artifice and ugliness in the country these days and watching two people in love - despite their political differences and occasional bickering - honestly gives me some hope, as tragic as that is. 5) My affection for them (and especially Joe) was monumentally increased by the fact that Joe has liked my comments on Facebook on several occasions and has even replied back. Now I realize that he's not George Clooney/Brad Pitt/insert conventional popular celebrity here level of fame, but it really impressed me. I used to work in movies back in the 90's (Good Will Hunting, Amistad, multiple indies) and 99% of talent are total dicks. So anytime I see even slightly human behavior from any public figure I view it from that prism. And what was even cooler is that my comments were usually about how great I think he and Mika are and that they seem so happy together. 6) I think the enormous amount of bullshit that gets thrown their way because of how (and when) their relationship began is really fucking boring. Shit happens. Sometimes you fall in love with someone and it's messy. I fell in love with someone when I was engaged to another man. It was horrible and heartbreaking and I wish it hadn't happened the way it did - but I ended things with my fiance before I got physically involved with my boyfriend. It all worked out. I'm still friends with my ex-fiance and I'm still with the man I fell in love with. 7) I think Joe and Mika make each other better in many ways. They balance each other out. And, as Mika has said "I'm not sure where we begin and the other ends. We're just really connected," Joe added "You don't know where I start, where she ends...We...she ...understands me...and makes me a lot better." When talking about their engagement he said "It just keeps hitting you that it's forever. It's forever. It's forever. And you do realize immediately what matters, what doesn't matter. It makes you treat people around you differently, people that you love". 8) He wrote her a fucking love song. And every time he plays it in concert he's always watching her reaction. They look at each other like the sun shines out of their asses. And that's pretty amazing to watch. 9) I think Joe is funny as fuck and his laugh is infectious. And I love it when Mika is just herself and not trying to be Serious Broadcaster all the time. Now there's a lot to clown on about MJ and I look forward to doing just that. There's a lot to clown on me about the fact that I just posted all this shit on the internet, but who gives a fuck? And how can you not love these two?
  3. Like samantha mentioned, I stopped giving a shit about this show around 6x23, and keep watching only out of a misguided sense of obligation (and so I can keep up with my amazing verdana)! I knew about the spoilers (Hal rocks it out again!) and just couldn't help driving by the scene of this accident. What a mess. Why would Stana sign off for such character abandonment (well said)? Maybe she doesn't give two fucks and just wanted the check, not that I blame her. And no one is EVER going to get confirmation that BTS issues lead to this debacle - it doesn't work like that. But I think you can make reasonable assumptions. Speaking of, what the hell was that "kiss" in the airplane hangar? Did anyone else notice they weren't even kissing? It was this odd cheek thing which looked awkward af. That said, you can have two actors who can't keep their hands off each other (David and Gillian on X Files) and you still have a shit for brains creator who thinks it's a great idea to "reset" (read: breakup) that relationship because he doesn't know how to write happy either. So, it could be the actors, could be some dipshit writers/creators/showrunners, could be the network, who the fuck knows? But it's bullshit for fans no matter how you slice it.
  4. Hal, you know I love you girl, and I love pretty much everything you've said in this thread. And as we both know All Actors Are Assholes. Stana with her Unicorn Art Shit and Nathan with his, well, whatever it is he is. Does the man have a fucking OFF switch? Christ. I'm really over the two of them at this point, and am glad as fuck this contract shit is over. But I'm a dyed in the wool Phile, and while the cynic in me does think "yeah, what the fuck is going on with DD and GA?" the other part of me is eating this shit up. And in no small part because those two used to hate each other - and it wasn't this maybe they did or maybe they didn't we have with some other shows I could speak of - they would full on talk a bunch of shit about each other in the press. And there were probably a lot of reasons for that (GA not getting paid what DD did, the intense shooting schedule they had with just the two of them, literally, all of the time, in Vancouver, their collective immaturity, etc). Since 2008 they've started to make progress and certainly 2013 was a major turning point for them when they did Paley and NYCC for the 20 year reunion. DD actually talked GA into doing the revival because she didn't want to do more TV, especially since it would be a 3 month shoot in the States away from her young kids. So now she's referred to him as her "BFF" and he's been very affectionate to her in interviews before this "concert" even happened. So are the trolling the fans? Yeah, to some degree. But there is also a very clear attraction and affection between those two the belies just wanting to promote a 6 episode show that won't be seen for seven months. I know you and I are both cynics when it comes to the world of Showbiz, and kudos for calling out the total and utter bullshit on the Good Wife. We both know there are so many more stories to tell, but often it is best to just let it be. Even if the general public knew half the truths out there, it would probably fuck them up for life. ;)
  5. Wasn't he going to be a teacher at some point? It seems like spelling is a key component to that work. I guess it's probably just as well he's an actor, where smarts don't amount to much (for actors in general).I'm done talking about Fillion's spelling errors. I don't like the guy for a very specific reason and there's two people on this forum that know why. When faced with a particular situation he simply lacked class and acted like a 12 year old. To me, he continues to do so. You're a grown man. It's time to move on. Everyone else obviously has. And that's all I say. I don't have to like the guy. I tolerate him - which is totally my prerogative. And no amount of ganging up and belaboring the point will change my mind about it. That's my final thought on him.
  6. Not to be toooo negative...but why does it annoy the hell out of me that NF doesn't know how to spell Beckett? It just seems so...passive aggressive. Come on, man. In seven years you haven't figured that out? Sigh. MilMar has written so many WTF clusterfuck episodes over the last few years that I wasn't even sure they had it in them. Glad to see I was proven wrong on that front. And like the dork that I am, I got all emotional with the "always" in the speech. Ridiculous. Who knows how they'll handle Captain/Senator/VP/POTUS Beckett next season. I'm hoping it's like the FBI/PI arc where it's three and done. I just can't see them writing a campaign all season - they did it on Good Wife (a much higher caliber show) and this season has been a nightmare. Or maybe they can hire Olivia Pope to run the campaign/fix scandals and there would be a lovely ABC tie in! Or I could just have viral meningitis and I'm not making any sense at all!
  7. McManda I noticed the exact same thing with the ring and I really loved that moment too. I thought they really underscored the importance and connection of their marriage in this episode. It felt genuine to me - and 99% of the time it doesn't. Alas, I think MilMar are pretty dead set on this "politics" storyline - so I'll be surprised if it goes away. Maybe they can do a crossover with The Good Wife - all CGI of course.
  8. Maybe it's because I had a stressful day at work or because I've obsessing over TXF upfronts today or something...but I actually got kind of teary at the end with his speech. It did feel like an end to me and there was some gravitas to it - the whole cast and crew dressed up (And you can't miss the MilMar cameo when Connelly sits down), the team together, genuine looks of love and affection from Caskett, NF looking slim and handsome in his tux. It IS the end of an era. Though you know MilMar won't totally jump ship, change is coming and it has me nervous. As others have said, if there is no Beckett or it's very Beckett-Lite this will be the end of the road for me. And goddamed, it makes me sad. I really enjoyed the episode, thought there were very strong performances throughout, and liked the directing this episode as well. But why do I still feel sad?
  9. TPW might be the show runner, but I have very serious doubts that MilMar are going to be that far away. hal would know better than me, but so far MilMar haven't been able to get their last two pilots off the ground. It would be different if they a show that was waiting to be unleaded on Pilot season, but I don't see any evidence of that. So my personal feeling is that TPW will be more like "head writer" while Marlowe is still making the overarching creative decision. Do you think Marlowe would go for TPW breaking them up, or one of them dying, or any other fundamental change to the narrative? No bloody way. On paper they're "gone", but MilMar has been TPW's boss for many years. I don't expect them to never step back in. And maybe that's good or maybe it's bad. The other thing that really has me concerned (and hal can back me up) is that all actors are assholes. Yes, even precious Stana and lovable fluffy Fillion. And then there are actors who are truly evil - but that's another thread. My point is that you can guarantee that part of their new deals was time off (much more time off) and money of course. And a whole bunch of pendatic bullshit like Nathan's trainer, etc. and I'm sure Stana had some dopey thing in hers too. That said, if they really are going to drag this show through 20 something more episodes you'd better get prepared for more of Det/ME/Student/International Spy Alexis solving crimes with her dad while Kate wears baggy shirts and has a pretend phone call. And, of course, your Ryan/Espo/Laine/Martha/Tori/Gates/LT/Royal the Dog focused episodes which I'll be sure to tune out for. The way around this is 13 good, solid episodes. Or as well as they can do at this point. I think after the finale I'm going to stop watching altogether and come here to see just how bad the episode is before I watch (from people I respect like verdana. That should save me a lot of wasted time.
  10. Of course I just wish this show would end before it gets even more pathetic - but that's just me. And when's the last time it got $12M viewers? Season six. Wasn't their last outing like 8 something with a 1.4 share? Pretty tragic. I just hope they do a short 13 episode season like they did on The Mentalist and not drag this shit show out over 23 incredibly painful episodes. Please, ABC/TPTB let this show end with a little class.
  11. 99% of the time talents doesn't do anything (besides their charities) that they're not contractually obligated to do and/or get paid for. I know Shonda runs a tight ship with her shows and that cast of Scandal live tweet until the fingers fall off. It may even be the networks doing. But I can promise you, with all my heart, that talent never does anything for free. They are busy people with long shooting schedules and a can guarantee when they walk off set they are the fuck over their shows. I love what I do - but when I get a rare day off I don't want to get paged from my practice and be on the phone with the hospital at 3am. And I make a whole lot less than they do. My point is that I completely understand if these live tweeting things are in their contracts.
  12. Not for nothing, but I'm racking my brain as to what post-op restrictions that would cause him not to able to fly. He gets a wheelchair to the gate with priority boarding. Worse case scenario he uses crutches. As a physician I can't think of ANY foot surgery that would affect that. Maybe he just didn't feel like traveling with the foot. I just wanted to make that point clear that flying is ok after being cleared by your surgeon in follow up.Risk of blood clot is very low - especially since he's likely been ambulatory since the procedure. It's unlikely he was given anesthesia. They very likely just used lidocaine to numb it locally. Yes we always worry about DVT's, but with an outpatient procedure like this that shouldn't be a problem in a healthy young person. His only risk factor is high BMI.
  13. Nathan used to date Perry Reeves? Good God, who hasn't she dated? I remember she dated David Duchovny a million years ago. By my count she should be 180 years old.
  14. Yeah. What annoys me about CC is that he was constantly hand wringing and pussy footing around the MSR until he ground it into something almost unrecognizable at times. You guys are right - I don't think M/S ever really broke up in IWTB but there sure as hell was a lot more conflict and emotional distance than I would have desired. These interviews with Chris where he talks about this new "development" in the MSR have me rolling my eyes. What are you up to you salty old surfer? Don't fuck us around, now.
  15. I know that Nathan has done things with Jon and Seamus on his Instagram - little videos and pics and things like that. I think that Stana has gone out of her way to be cordial to him (birthday tweet, etc) but he seems sort of indifferent to her. All of this is just speculation, obviously. None of us know the real story. But the feeling I get is that they were probably closer in the earlier seasons (1-3) and into early season 4 and then they seemed to loose their closeness. Which is not to say that they're mortal enemies or anything like that. Working on film/TV production is a lot of hours and a lot of togetherness. You're dealing with 12-16 hour days (which make my current 12 hour medical shifts at the urgent care seem pretty tame) and lots of different personalities (from talent to the crew) and different stressors that can make shooting really feel like work. I mean, it's really fun, but it IS work. And people are going to just generally gravitate to certain people, especially over the years. Like Jon and Seamus seem pretty close, as do Nathan and Molly and Susan. Lord knows Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny couldn't stand each other by the end of X-Files and would talk about it pretty openly in the press. Now they're good friends. So maybe time and distance will be good for Nathan and Stana - who knows? None of this really matters to me except how it affects what we see on screen. My personal philosophy is that their...distance, whatever, seeps over to what we see on the show, and that's bothersome. Stana seems much more into it than Nathan does, but that could be due to a variety of factors. What I can see is that after seven years, I think I would be over my co-workers too.
  16. I know. That's what I found interesting too. There's certainly been speculation...about both them dating and them not getting along now. I could certainly find some credence in them not getting on right now, but again, that's purely conjecture on my part. I really hope someone writes a tell all about this show down the line. Well, I think I'd like to read the Grey's Anatomy tell all first, then Castle. I buy that he's dating Krista Allen. She seems to be his type. I hope they're happy, if, in fact they are dating. verdana, my soul sister, you read the DM too! Oh god, it's so bad, but it's so good.
  17. Oh no problem Wendy! I think most of it is completely bananas! Matter of fact, I was really shocked about some of the stuff in the article. That said, I thought it would be of interest to some to read any Castle related news, no matter how completely absurd it is. The Daily Mail is my guilty pleasure. I know verdana is going to completely clown on me for even reading it all. ;)
  18. Well, take this for you what will. There's some clear incorrect information in here - such as Nathan signing for two seasons when he has only signed for one. But still interesting tidbits on the show. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/usshowbiz/article-3058272/Castle-star-Nathan-Fillion-s-new-main-squeeze-George-Clooney-s-ex-Krista-Allen.html
  19. Hey guys. So I'm really excited for the XFR but I have my concerns too. Well, Chris, number one. If he fucks around the MSR I'm going to be seriously annoyed. I just can't bear a repeat of IWTB and the "mini-breakup" during the movie and all that Amanda Peet. And I worked with her in a movie in the late 90's and she was lovely then - but still, please no unnecessary characters. What was good (and maybe bad) about XF is that you had a show that was driven by two characters. They were the show. And I haven't waited 13 years or 6 years to get distracted by some inane bullshit. So listen up CC! Also, I am so damned confused about the time line. I thought these episodes were supposed to go between where the show ended and IWTB began. Is that not right? So how could he make a bunch of narrative changes if you already have your ending? Does that make sense? Or do these episodes cover post-IWTB to present or somewhere in between? 2012 would make the most sense. I always thought of this show as December 2012 was coming around. I'm excited about Wong and the Morgan's. I really need to go back from the start and watch the whole damn thing again. I remember working on a college TV show called Shadows that was sort of based on XF in 1995! Oh lord. I'm feeling really old and really young at the same time.
  20. Well, Chad. You handsome devil. Too bad he's married...
  21. Who is that tall drink of water standing next to Stana in Seamus' pic? That guy is hot. He's certainly better looking than Fillion, in my opinion. And thinner. And younger looking. Maybe MilMar take Stana and that guy and they do a spin off. Then the new show runner can do a show with Castle and Detective/ME Alexis.
  22. Ok so you guys are saying you watch Castle so that you can watch an entire episode of Castle and Alexis? With no Beckett at all? Why does it have to be all or nothing? Why can't just general episodes be more well balanced? These writers don't know how to juggle multiple stories, that's well known.
  23. Oh God. This is so, so painful to watch I'm not sure I can get through it and I'm only 23 minutes in. I can't really bear to watch Nathan without Stana and Molly is just completely intolerable. I would have let the snake out to terrorize her alone. It was obvs this was a bottle episode and they were trying to save money since everyone was wearing the ugliest clothes yet. Castle's traveling shirt was vomit inducing. And what's up with Beckett's extremely baggy shirt? She looked like she was wearing a sack. She must have pissed off Luke. Either that or the new husband has gotten to work. This blue filter they're using on the film is bugging the hell out of me. Stana please don't re sign. Go live your life with your giant husband and leave this absolute crap behind.
  24. There were some comments upthread that I'd like to address. First, in the infamous deleted scene/#respect the process talk I attended in 10/12, I can tell you that AM had glowing things to say about Stana. How brave she is, how strong she was to do her own stunts in Always (hanging off the building - and doing it again with green screen), how's she's such a big part of the show and he loves working with her. And poor PA Terri, just sitting there. I almost felt bad for her bc this man (AM) has a little crush on her - (it seemed to me). Not once did NF get mentioned. Well, until the end, when this old lady (Castle demo) asked him why NF wasn't there. Marlowe literally rolled his eyes and said "he's busy". It was actually pretty funny. I don't think there's any kind of love fest between MilMar and Fillion. The network decided who's going to sell and a 2009 Fillion was hot to trot. So all the creatives are leaving. Maybe Alan Tudyk will be the show runner. Last thing I'll mention: I was going to go to Dallas Comic Com because NF and Gillian Anderson are going to be there. I wanted to get an autograph from the guy (money is not an issue) so I could just look it awhile until I sold it to some fool on EBay. Now, GA I really want to meet. It's sad bc I was really wanting to go, but I just don't think I can stomach it. In the end of the day, I think SK will sign, if only to keep everyone's jobs. I wish she wouldn't, but money talks (and other perks). Best case scenario is a truncated 8th season to tie up loose ends and then give this poor lumbering beast some barbiturates, Fentanyl, and versed until they reach asystole.
  25. Okay, hold the goddamed phone. Hal didn't like the episode? We all know she's Fillion posting in disguise (heh. Hal is actually a terrific gal who is a real person). Now that's saying something. This episode was such a fucking clusterfuck, I couldn't be bothered to pay attention. I just watched it tonight (combination of working 5-6 12 hour shifts in urgent care and apathy) and I laughed all the way through it. It's like MilMarMann know their tickets are punched, so they just stopped giving a shit. The show jumped in 6x23 but they had a lot of contenders up until that point. Maybe they just want to throw a lot of bullshit at us so we don't care if it ends. I can't think of any reason. Reactions in my house (from my 69 year old parents - Castle's demo): Elysium's dad. IQ 160. Physician. Smartest guy I know: "what in the hell was that supposed to be? And I don't get the 'chunky' guy. Can't they give him something else to do besides looking tired and having to say ridiculous dialogue?" - my dad takes his a TV way serious. Must be genetic. Elysium's mom: Summa Cum Laude from the biggest (and one of the most prestigious) in Texas: (said in Texas twang) now you know I love this show, Sadie (Sadie is the dog's name. She calls everyone by the dog's name) but this is getting ridiculous now. Do you think they are all on drugs in Hollywood?" E.D.: "Sure they're on drugs. You'd have to be taking legal and illegal substances to come up with that. Maybe someone should stage an intervention." E.M.: Well, ____, don't you know someone in LA that could help those poor people? Why don't you call your friend from medical school, Dr. Drug Guy, and the show will start making sense again. Sadie, what do you think?" Now at this point I don't know if she's adressing me or their 16+ year old Lhapso Apso (no one knows how old she is) who has thyroid disease, an underbite, and is completely incontinent. Me: hahahahahaha. This show is so fucked, the only thing you can do is just laugh at the utter absurdity of it all. As some of you know my favorite character is SherlockHolmes!Molly, so you can best believe that one will be sitting on the DVR until I move sometime later this year. Don't get me started on Caskett or Hacklowe or Blowman or the lack of intimacy. Would you want to make out with someone you couldn't partner with for negotiations? He should just start making out with Penny all the time, so when Stana doesn't sign we have someone who wants to kiss him. I just want this show to hurry up and die so as a fandom, we can get some peace. This is like watching a baby seal getting eaten by a shark - the one they let out of the box last year.
