Yelling tho? Come on now Erika’s talking voice was higher then what Sutton came back with

We will likely not agree here. However, she was sitting next to her so the purpose certainly wasn't to overcome background noise. The moment she pointed her finger, raised her voice and said "I'm going to say it again!" is what I really have a problem with. Regardless of calling it "screaming" (of which I didn't hear any disagreement from the table when it was described as such), it was inappropriate.

  2. I know that Sutton gets a lot of love, leeway and grace here. But her yelling at Diana when Diana was absolutely correct about her comments was too much. Sutton was absolutely wrong and then needed to take a break because it was just too much. Please. And I thought her approach to Crystal was condescending. "I need you to say it out loud so everyone can hear you". My response would have been to ask her when she became my mother.

Sorry... I know that Crystal gets a lot of crap. But I'm no big fan of Sutton either. A shared dislike of Erika isn't enough to excuse behavior.

Haven’t read this thread yet but did we actually see/hear Erika say (to Crystal) “I don’t care what the truth is, [ if u r called a liar] you need to defend yourself?

I may have what’s in the brackets wrong because Margaret made me drink wine while watching this 🥴

I thought she said "I don't know what the truth is". I'd have to rewatch to confirm but that 's what I recall.

Correcting myself. Yep, she said "I don't care what the truth is. But you know what I do know? If you don't stand up and fight for your side, you will be run over"

  4. I actually tuned in because I wanted to see Cornell West. I hadn't heard him in a long time and was interested but that was short lived. I was so disappointed in the Biden topic with him. I stuck around for part of the Conway panel, but it just gave me a headache. I hate seeing her get airtime anywhere. The host/interviewer usually spends the majority of time just trying to find alignment on the fact that the sky is blue. It goes around and around until I have just had enough.

I tuned out during the panel and never saw New Rules. Maybe I'll go back and watch that portion.

I remember the push to "not see color". My understanding of the intent of that, was to appreciate people as their complete self, and not judge, label or stereotype them from how they appear on the outside. I don't think it was intended to discount or ignore the struggles people go through because of their outward appearance, I think it was intended to try to ease or lessen those struggles by trying to get others to see beyond the color of someone's skin, and appreciate them (or not) for the person they are, and treat them accordingly.  There was no malevolent intent, to the best of my knowledge -either that or I grossly misinterpreted it at the time.

The intent was positive. The result was not. It's why I mentioned and sincerely believe that Sutton means well.

If Sutton had said "I try not to see color" rather than "I don't see color" the reaction would have been totally different. I would hate to be in a friend group where you have to parse your words so carefully.

While I don't believe I would have reacted the way that Crystal did, I don't see the difference. The issue is that I, as a person of color, want others to see color. See the whole me. I don't live in a world where color is not a factor in my life, therefore, I appreciate it when people see my complete self.

I think Sutton means well. I really do. There is just opportunity for education, and it is much easier to get there when everyone speaks *and* listens.

  7. "The most expensive watch was $60,000. Oh, that's nothing" - was a good reminder of the wealth differences in the US and how some simply cannot relate to those who are in much different circumstances. Wow. Tone deaf.

I also was not amazed by Dorit and PK's kids ability to just carry on with security in the house. There are also producers and camera crews in the house. It probably all seems normal.

Diana Jenkins is an interesting addition. Regarding her accent, it makes sense that she has one. Born and raised in Bosnia to London, etc. It's Dorit's accent that makes no sense to me.

Sutton did come off as insensitive. While it might not have been her intention, the comment that 'well I didn't have a gun to my head' and talking about her busy morning and business, when said in the moment, didn't sound great. I'm not choosing sides, because they are all just characters to me. And I saw no issue with whatever she posted on social media. Even for someone who she is not friends with, the comments came off cold and left her as a prime target for Kyle. She should be smart enough to know that Kyle would immediately go back and relay it to Dorit and PK. I actually appreciated PK saying 'I wish you hadn't told me that'.

  8. Many of you have said what I was thinking during the reunion. I asked myself if Teresa really is as dumb as she seems. It didn't take much longer to reach the conclusion that she is confidently dumb. And I'm not attempting to be mean. I just don't understand how her brain works. So many things are just illogical. And she is so confident in her warped thinking.

    Enough of her.

  9. I didn't have that much of a problem with the finale. The Jonah story is interesting. We've seen him pull and use a gun before, but he never took the shot. He'd even made the comment about going straight (at least through high school). But now we can assume, to save his family, he took the shot, finally crossed the line and showed that he has the capacity to kill. My imagination took me to Wendy being pleased and Marty seriously struggling with that realization.

With the emphasis this season on Wendy's flaws, I really thought she wouldn't survive. I was less surprised by those that died than who didn't. While I might be a bit disappointed with Ruth dying, she did murder Navarro's nephew. As soon as Clare gave her up, that ending was sealed. As for Marty and Wendy, there were so many close calls, but they have continued to survive. Marty, at least, considered the consequences of decisions. I watched a bit of the 'Farewell to Ozark' episode and the Byrdes were described as an 'invasive species' who arrive, take over and destroy everything around them. Seems pretty accurate.

  10. ...and here's another thing I didn't like about Emily (just follow along like you have been in my head sharing my thoughts 😆) - Andy was giving Noella the floor to discuss her relationship with her father and the impact of losing him. It was good to get some insight into their relationship and her articulation of his interest in her. They became closer once she was in an industry that aligned with his and his interests. We were jarred out of that conversation by Emily butting in to talk about her and her father. WHO ASKED YOU? Maybe her intention was to support Noella, but it was an 'all about me' move that was irritating.

I wonder if I missed part of episode because I don’t remember everything you are describing. It’s very possible—we had some internet issues during two of the episodes so I restarted and fast forwarded to where I thought it left off.

My memory is only so clear because I watched the series just a few days ago. Give me a while and it will eventually become a blur 😝

I didn’t really like it. It’s not very balanced. I think it shows Magic in a very favorable way, and ignores some of the less flattering things he’s done. For example, according to Cookie, Magic had a hard time accepting that EJ is gay, but the documentary made it seem like their relationship has always been great.

Magic has done a lot of wonderful things on the court and off, so I understand showing all those things. However, he isn’t perfect and the documentary either does not mention or glosses over his flaws.

I had a bit of a different impression. In the documentary, EJ, Cookie and Magic each described the interaction when they first discussed EJ. Magic said he is ashamed of it, was unaccepting and said things he regrets (that EJ needed to be macho, etc).  He said he failed him. EJ and Andre described their conversation after and how upset EJ was. They went through a rocky period.

It was called out in the documentary. Was it likely softer in the documentary when looking back? Yep, I'd guess so. I just remember that they didn't make it seem like it was great at all.

I don't have Apple +. Is the Magic series worth watching? Is it like The Last Dance except about Magic?

As for Larry Bird, think he came from a different era of the NBA. He believed in playing a rough physical game and he believed in trash talking. Nowadays, NBA stars are careful to grant Make-a-Wishes (even prickly Michael Jordan apparently grants many wishes), take selfies with young AAU prospects, visit hospitals, give out Thanksgiving dinners, etc. Larry just wasn't that type of celebrity.

Opinions will vary. I enjoyed it just to get some more insight into a figure who experienced so much publicly, the good and the bad. It kept my attention and it was interesting to hear him narrate his life.

  13. In the 4-part Apple+ series, "They Call Me Magic", he explains how he revealed his son to Cookie. Right after they reunited in their off and on and off and on relationship, they were at his parents' house. He left the house and came back with a young boy. Cookie says that 'they all said, this is Andre`' That's when Magic told her that he had a son. He explained that it was one night. And he says that revealing it was "awkward and tough" but he wanted her to know that he is his son and would always be in his life.

During that same trip home to Michigan, he later proposed.

I enjoyed watching the Apple series and hearing the perspective of events from Magic, his parents, his brothers and sisters,  Cookie, her college friends, Isiah, Kareem, business partners, friends such as Arsenio, Pat Riley, etc.

Note - I was born and raised in Michigan and was there through early adulthood. So, I had a lot of exposure to Magic in college and then Isiah leading the Detroit Pistons. I was a Bad Boys fan. So, it's been fun watching "Winning Time" though they have certainly taken some liberties.

  14. I finally got around to looking up the reaction to this season. I was kind of surprised at the dissatisfaction 😆 But, oh well. As for me, I enjoyed it. My only expectation was to erase that whacky last season of the original series from my memory and to give Dexter a proper send off.

It wasn't perfect but I enjoyed the ride. If they had gone in a different direction and opted for multiple seasons (with MCH), I am certain I would have watched. Without him, I have no interest in watching. So, I'll take it for what it was and close the Dexter book. Overall, it still ranks as one of my favorite series ever.

Sorry, still don't get what Shannon did that has Heather so infuriated. She told her "friends" that she thought Nicole sued Terry many years ago? So fukin' what!!!

It must be killing Shannon to have to grovel to Heather over and over again just to be treated like crap by Heather. I bet Tamra and Vicki are loving every minute of it.

Speaking of poor Shannon, is she really trying to say that she has no money? She has to pay for all of her daughter's college education? WTF?  Blame your divorce lawyer for that, Shan. I know when she said last season that she got 1.4 million in the settlement that she got screwed. That sounds like a lot of dough but it's not when you lived in a 13 million $$ mansion and your husband supposedly is worth 10 if not 20 times that. She is used to a very lavish lifestyle and that is not what she ended up with.

Nicole looks like a smaller, slightly younger version of Emily. Sometimes when the camera pans across her face quickly I think it's Emily.

Noelle is unbearable, I put her in the same dramatic category as Heather.  Her mother looks like a melted down version of Noelle. Scary face. Why didn't she have her own credit cards in her name? Next time get yourself a secret stash account, and your very own credit!!

Regarding Noelle mother's face, I thought Noelle mentioned her mother getting sick. Stroke?

And I kept trying to figure out who Nicole looks like. If I squint really hard I can sort of see Carmen Electra. But then I open my eyes fully and I see the clown makeup she wore in that restaurant scene. Yes, the one during which she tried to calm Noelle since people were looking. Because you being there with a camera crew isn't bringing any attention at all?

Noelle: My husband left. Then I was served with divorce papers. I have no idea where he is. The credit cards are shut off and I can't pay bills. He left his son. I don't know what to do. I'm emotionally broken.

Clowney: Ohhhhhhhh, he'll turn up. It will all work out fine.

Girl, please. I would have wanted to borrow a bottle of Windex and a towel from that restaurant and go to work on her face, including her mouth. She can't be gone soon enough.

And do not get me started on Heather. I wanted her back for real estate porn. And she didn't even bring that! Her pretentiousness and ponytail facelifts are not worth my investment of viewing time.
