  1. I liked watching it again and seeing stuff I missed last night,  Tiff's awesome performance in the challenge, Venus starting to give Liz a hug and then jerking back in fear when Liz resumed her flailing.

I forgot Liz saying later, "Q screwed me over,"  as if he had promised her something and then reneged.  He did no such thing.

Worst was during the immunity challenge when Tiff was praised and Liz mutters, "She got to eat."  Right.  Nothing makes one able to endure pain better than a huge snifter of booze and some quesadillas.  I'll bet Tiff was throwing up blue all night.

Regarding Q ... damned if I'm not pulling for him! Charlie is still my first choice to win the game (he's aware of what's happening at all times, he's kind, he's a no drama guy), but if Charlie can't win, then I want Q to win. As far as I'm concerned, Tiffany is the only one who has a legitimate beef with him because he targeted her and outed her idol. Kenzie can't take any high ground because she went after Tiffany only two days after Q did. Really, the only thing he's done wrong is cause unnecessary chaos, but it never changed any outcomes or votes; the only thing he did was put himself on the outs because he's unpredictable. If he gets to F3 with Charlie, Maria, or Kenzie, then he loses, but if he gets there with any combo of Venus, Liz, or Ben, I think he can win. He only needs five votes, and the only people I'm certain would never vote for him to win are Tiff, Venus, and Liz. Everyone else, I think, could be up for grabs.

Agreed.  Charlie's been my favorite from the first, but I can't hate Q. I've enjoyed his unpredictable behavior, plus,  I have to admit it,  every time he smiles I'm ready to forgive almost anything.

  3. Tiffany not playing her idol was the dumbest not-play I've ever seen.  Jeff was hinting strongly throughout Tribal, she had just seen several examples of Q being the smoke screen for blindsides, she had heard her name come up in the "we need to flush her idol" sense a few times, she had just demonstarted what a challenge threat she was against Charlie.

It's incredible that she chose to keep it in her pocket.  I'm not sorry.  I always found the nose ring hard to look at and watching her eat with two shiny things hanging out of her nostrils really put me off the  Applebees commercial. They should sue.

"Eating burgers makes me feel connected with my daughter." is one of the weirdest things I've heard on Survivor.  Do you have to have something like that to remember her, Liz?

Q was right to pick people he wanted to work with to get to the end, but if he had wanted to pick someone based on need he should have picked Charlie.  Jeff may have no sympathy for Charlie's constant dizzy spells but I do.  A tall young man like Charlie probably needs close to 3000 calories a day compared to about 1800 for little Liz.  A few mangoes and coconut pieces would only serve to spike Charlie's blood sugar and make him hungrier.

I have read that the actress herself wanted the character killed off.

I can see where a lot of actresses would much prefer a chance for a huge dramatic exit over just drifting away.  Nobody cried or quit watching when poor little Nurse Miller got assaulted and then was sent off to the mysterious psychiatric convent.  She was my favorite.

They showed Allison in the toilet.

LOL  They did didn't they?  One thing you can count on with this show is they'll never gloss over the icky realities of life.

I was binging "Broadchurch" last week and the woman who had a baby screamed at the top of her lungs through the whole thing and I thought, "The writers have watched too much, CTM."

I didn't do more than moan a little when I was in labor, I didn't have the strength left over for any dramatics.  I'm not without sympathy for the women who have really terrible births, but CTM makes it seem like every single birth is horrendous.

  7. So Jonty is going to lose a mother a second time and Trixie doesn't seem to care beyond a crying hug.  Did she ever really bond with that child or did she simply do her duty the same way she would with a patient?  None of this story seems believable to me.

I remember now why I soured on Maria, it was the very first episode where she went on the "journey" with Tevin and Jelinsky, and she got all shirty about Jelinsky lying to her. And it was like, lady, you all read the same piece of paper, they're are supposed to by lying, it says they both have to convince you they have the right card or whatever the hell it was. She was just acting so holier than thou about the whole thing and so condescending it rubbed me the wrong way.

She's like all the rest of them, she acts so indignant if anyone else plays the game for themselves.

Yes!  The part of that scene that makes me dislike her most is, "Ben is lying and I see right through it."  If she was just plain wrong about Ben it wouldn't be so bad, but she's so superior and thinks she can look at people and judge their souls or something.

I was also put off by the way she stopped Ben and demanded, "Talk to me about the idol!"  Like Ben was in some sort of job interview and it was up to him to sell himself and impress her.

She's at the bottom of my list now.  I like Venus better.

Gerry Turner's daughter calls out fan 'rage and cruelty' after “Golden Bachelor ”divorce (msn.com)

The woman he lived with for a while, right after his first wife died, reported an incident where he told her he wasn't going to take her to some event because she had gained a few pounds.   His daughters are more than a few pounds overweight so I expected them to read that and distance themselves from a father who would likely be ashamed to be seen with them.

But I saw a secret scene last week where Maria spoke with such contempt to Ben and badgered him, so sure he was the one with the idol, never imagining it was Jess who went home with it.

Wow Violet, thanks for calling attention to that.  I just watched it on YouTube and it's pretty intense.  Violet  made Ben cry and was just so sure she could tell he was lying, when he wasn't. ugh. Charlie was sweet to him though, and that was worth watching, too.

I'm miffed that I missed the shout out or the Canadian Air Force exercises!

Me too!  I did  those things for years.  I was taking a class in college where we had to demonstrated something, so I taught the exercises to my roomie and she demonstrated while I narrated.  She looked really cute doing them and got an "A" while I got a "D."  Those were the days when male teachers could grade girls on looks and no one even noticed.

She didn't tattle on Trixie.  She rightfully spoke the truth because she didn't want her fellow student to take all the blame when a lot of it should and did fall on Trixie.

I didn't say it was false or unfair, tattling usually is true. But whether we call it, "tattle," or "spoke the truth," my point was that someone who claims she has never been able to speak up has done a whole lot of speaking up lately.

I really hated the way she lectured Sister Monica Joan about not wanting to eat all her food.  The nerve!

  13. If they're planning on making us love Rosalind all of a sudden, they've done a strange job setting it up.  This episode  we find her worried about the exam because she lacks confidence and has "never been able to speak up" -- yet the few scenes she's had so far this season are two when she spoke right up to Sister Monica Joan in a very disrespectful manner and when she spoke right up to tattle on Trixie about the placenta mistake. She was a bit of a blabber mouth pill on the bus when the scout was getting sick and she has never been a bit shy around Cyril.  Don't the writers watch this show?

  14. I never liked Jerry, he was far too "sweet" for me. However, I don't think we know enough about the marriage to say it was all his fault.

If he prefers to travel, go to nice restaurants, and play pickle ball, rather than continue the rest of his life doing a nine to five job or waiting for someone else who's doing that, then he's like most people his age.  Most over seventies are either retired or wishing they were.

  15. I don't think Jeff should ever skip the voting.  What people say in front of the others and how they vote in private may be two different things.

Imagine if you wanted a certain person gone, someone who is after you, but everyone else likes.  You could say you wanted to leave and everyone should vote for you -- then go vote for the guy you don't like and play your secret idol, blocking all the votes in your direction.

So essentially it came across as Liz wanted credit for merely having the thought that Soda could be a potential threat who needed to go, despite Tevin being the one to stick his neck out to Maria and Charlie and get them on board for the vote.

Yes.  It's come to this, "I thought about her first!"  I've never quite understood the amount of credit given to, "I masterminded the vote for person X," as a great bragging point at Final Tribal.  Someone is voted out every week, many names are suggested, after the suggestion many people have to agree, and when it's time to vote, idols and last minute changes come into play.  The only time I really admire it is the rare occasions when someone who has a cult like hold on others (Boston Rob) is voted out, because a brave person talked enough people into it.

Neither Venus, Liz, nor Tevin should get special credit for getting Soda out. They had limited choices and so it happened.

Not a fan of the Phillips and Debbies so this season isn't my fave.

I love those people. Coach is one of my all-time  favorite players, so I'm enjoying Q very much although I sure don't think he should win.

I think it's too bad we don't have family visits anymore because I really want to see Q's wife.  I'll bet everything at home has to be exactly his way and he comes home with new plans daily.

I  imagine if they all go to the movies, it has to be Q's pick, but if the movie turns out to be boring he comes home and tell his wife he's calling the divorce lawyer and releasing her from all commitments.

  17. Q is the  star of his own show about a brilliant, self-sacrificing hero.  Unfortunately he doesn't have a good script or logical plot, so he has to make his noble speeches at random. I'm glad the rest didn't play along with his improvisation and went on with their own plans.

I just think Hunter was right and it made more sense to vote out Tiff who had turned against one of the six, rather than Tevin who was loyal. Oh well.  I expect the Six is over now anyway.

I didn't think Hunter was show boating at the challenge so much as resting his arms which must have been in pain.  I also don't think that was a challenge that could have been practiced at home to any great advantage.  It's mainly a matter of pain endurance and a little bit about foot size and muscle strength.  Venus did very well and I'm sure she didn't practice at home. She wouldn't have thought she needed to.

I gave Venus the benefit of the doubt for a long time, but ever since she lectured Maria about how to play the game, I've been seeing that smug sense of superiority everywhere and it really is obnoxious.

Hunter's beard! He could hurt somebody with that stuff!

. Like last week with the family with TB. Did they forget that Shelagh had TB early in the series?

I kept waiting for Dr. Turner to mention that his wife is a TB survivor or at least tell her about it all when he got home.  That story line was my very favorite, with the two falling in love while she was still a nun and all the heavy decisions she had to make.

There was a couple (not Kenny and Mari or "Goose" and what's her name) who got married on BIP years ago and it later came out that it wasn't a legal marriage, so I've been wondering about this, too. The pressure put on Gerry and Theresa for this fast marriage would not have helped their relationship. I wish their families had talked them out of that and I hope that if this "Golden" show continues, they leave grandchildren out of it.

I remember that!  Marcus and  Lacey who ran elder care home. After they broke up he said she had changed completely and he called her toxic.

I can't believe Trixie would make a mistake like that no matter what.

    .

Part of it was that the patient smoked, so Trixie was quick to think any oddness in the  placenta was due to that.  It reminded me of the years when I smoked,40 cigarettes a day to that woman's 30, gasp!

At first doctors didn't think smoking was any big deal.  When I was pregnant, my doctor told me to try to keep it down to no more than ten a day so I just didn't smoke at all because I wasn't really addicted yet.

I did smoke while I breast fed, and it shocks me to think of it now, but we were told it wouldn't affect the milk at all and side stream smoke wasn't even an idea at the time.

Than all of a sudden everything changed and smoking became the root of all maladies.  My doctor teased me once by saying I had a lot of ear wax build-up and it was probably because I smoked.

The whole situation with the smoking woman was mishandled.  They could have at least told her why a small baby was a bad thing.

  21. The Daily Mail's  slang always makes it hard for me to understand their articles, but in spite of having to look up "fly-tipping " (illegal dumping) and "beauty spot" (a place in the countryside which is famous because it is beautiful) it was an amazing story. At first I thought he didn't own the land, but it's his so he must be fairly well to do.

How can one human destroy so much land in just a few years, merely by living on it?  I hope this guy does some real jail time.

In any case, location is one of the biggest flaws for The Bachelor franchise, and even more so for The Golden Bachelor as these are people who have lives and roots where they currently live. Perhaps for the future, tptb can think about casting people who are local, or at least in surrounding areas, to the (Golden) Bachelor/Bachelorette. Even Faith (third place) didn't want to move from her ranch in Washington.

That's a great idea.  They could have the Arizona Bachelor, The New York Bachelorette, etc. I live close to Columbus, a surprisingly big city, I'll bet they could fill a cast from Columbus alone.

  23. I never liked Jerry with his too ready tears and fickle emotions where he can be madly in love with Leslie one day and then drop her the next,  after Teresa knocks his socks off in bed.

Still, I don't see Teresa as an innocent either.  I think she's extremely competitive and was more about winning the final rose and sticking it to the others, than about spending her life with Jerry.  No woman who is over at her daughter's house every single day is going to move to another state so she can sit by the pond with Jerry.
