  1. And the Amazing Yellow Line makes a dual appearance!  First with the flight and then with the water taxis.

The statement that they have to choose a water taxi and cannot switch makes me think something is going to happen.

That's a lot of damn food for one meal. It looks like the Colombian version of a full English breakfast.

  2. What I don't understand about the mold apartment is what exactly those workmen did to suddenly fix it.  I thought the family would be getting a new apartment, not that someone was going to nail paneling over the moldy walls and that would make everything OK.

  3. I don't know why they're deleting so many scenes.  It's PBS, if they need an extra few minutes they can bump the schedule.  Personally, I could certainly do without the second reminder of how wonderful it is to travel on a Viking longship.

I want to like his show more than I actually do.  The acting is great and there are some scenes with emotional impact.  But the pacing seems soooooo sloooowww.

I'm with you.  I tuned in for an interesting look at fashion.   I did not anticipate a WWII drama involving Nazi concentration camps, torture and survivor's guilt.  I've begun to wonder if this is more than a single season show because we're 8 episodes into a 10 episode show and we're just now getting to what the show was advertised to be about.

Fun fact:  I've been reading Dior's autobiography and scene about the model applicants coming from the closed brothel houses is true.

They have to find a string that has them in the wrong order. But there are SO many of them.

But don't there have to be at least 12 strings in the wrong order?  In case everyone picked that detour?

Wait, did they miss the first challenge?

Well, something odd has to happen, we have 45 minutes left.

Not feeling it this leg.  Interesting stuff, but too easy.

I have no memory of anyone ever being eliminated on an Uber Leg. Is this new?

I had to go down a rabbit hole on Wikipedia but I finally found it - at least the one I remember:  in Season 10, Bilal and Sa'eed were eliminated in China in the middle of the first leg.  I don't know if the term mega-leg was in use at that time.

From the first post in this thread. Why are there references to Colombia and Argentina? That certainly didn't happen in this leg.

I don't know where OP got her info, but that's clearly a description of things that will happen this season, just not all in this leg.

Lastly it was jarring when we came back from commercial and the Siblings were suddenly free of the trap they had put themselves in with the car. I had to rewind to see if I missed something but I didn't. It got cut off somehow.

I know, they had 30 extra minutes (less commercials) to fill and they couldn't have given us more of that 357,691 point turn?

We only got a quick glimpse of it, but Phil mentioned that there was a lot of art along the beach.  I would have liked to see a task involving that.

That said, there should be a happy medium between that and being spoon-fed pre-arranged flights. I think last season they went back to using travel agents to book flights, right? That seemed to strike a good balance.

Travel agents seem to be more common in Asian countries, that may be due to visa/passport requirements, but I don't think you'll find many of them elsewhere.

I didn't mind the charter flights per se, what bothered me was that they acted to level the playing field time after time after time.  If a team is hours behind, there should be a penalty for that, not "Don't worry, we held the plane for you!"

  11. I don't know the truth of it, but the implication of both Capote and Infamous is that researching and writing In Cold Blood - in particular his relationship with Perry Smith left him a broken man.

but post 9/11 airport drama was mostly useless filler.

Except for season 1, all of TAR has been post 9/11.

I totally forgot about the Amazing Chartered Plane, now it makes perfect sense why they started out in the first country.

So, first episode of the season and we get to hear the entire theme song, and I'm clapping along in excitement.

  13. The change I don't like is that according to my DVR, they've moved the show to Wednesdays.  It's going against Survivor and The Amazing Race.  Smart move, Bravo.  Well, I guess that's what the DVR is for.
