Poor Deirdre! The wounds on her back looked fresh, but they were supposed to be scars, right? She left her abusive husband before she knew she was pregnant again.
That made no sense to me. She appeared to have bruises on her face and a bit of a black eye, I kept expecting her husband to show up.
I don't understand the Matthew situation, either. I know he wasn't a businessman like his father, and the tenement buildings were an issue, but the family obviously had personal wealth. And he managed to lose everything, just like that? To the extent that they need to live on Trixie's salary?

I'm surprised they didn't give a food reward to the winning team.

Maybe I'm going crazy, but I distinctly remember an extremely brief clip from "This season on Top Chef" that looked like a fish boil. When they throw the accelerant on the fire, it's a sight that you don't forget.

It seems the compromise for those who like alliances and those who don't would be for the show to make it a rule that once you complete a task, you must leave the gameplay area immediately.
They shouldn't need a rule like that, because teams generally realize it's a RACE. It's in the name of the show and everything.....

I am so bored with this season. There is not one team that I am invested in.
I was looking forward to this season because it was primarily in South America, which they haven't visited a lot lately. But unfortunately, there is a sameness to these countries, even though they're spread out across a continent and have different cultures. If you know one language - Spanish - you're set, and that advantage carries over leg after leg after leg. It also seems that you're less likely to find people who understand English.

They can absolutely pull things back after the cashier has scanned them. We've seen this numerous times when a team has gone over budget, they start removing things until they're under. The cashier just scans it again with a reversal, it's not hard.
I'm really disappointed that Manny and Kevin did such simple presentations of beef and then messed them up as well.

Looks like Derek & Shelisa got directed to the Pit Stop.
"At least they didn't have to come and get us."

Is no one going to dust for clues? I'm so disappointed.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Angie doing the Roadblock again?
How did they not realize this was going to be a physical RB?

It would be more fun if it were a slide puzzle.

Isn't there a rule they have to have their papers on them at all times? Probably easier keeping everything together.
Don't they still have the Amazing Fanny Pack for that?

That ending was epic!
Best ending to a reality show ever! I 100% knew that Sam would vote to steal, but I waffled about Blake. Camille is my new hero.

We had many alliances throughout the race that weren't showed.
With one exception, it sounds like their "alliances" were where other teams were helping them.

Sunny and Bizzy can’t keep getting away with this! lol.
Well, it felt like the fact that she was a helicopter maintenance technician was going to be important later on in the episode, and so it proved.

Popping in to ask: I think I read that this season was filmed before the last one. If that’s correct, does anyone know why?
It was originally edited for a 60 minute timeslot, then due to the writer's strike they had a 90 minute slot to fill.

Wherever he finishes, I bet Hunter adds standing on one foot while floating to his Survivor practice regimen when he gets home.

I can see I'm in the minority here, but it's 1969. Trixie has a job with long, odd hours. She's not working 1 or 2 days a week. She has a young baby and husband. Apparently, he's under a lot stress. She needs to spend more time at home.
Don't they have a nanny?

(From last week) "I don't know who Richard Burton & Elizabeth Taylor are!" Ever heard of Henry VIII? Mao Zedong? Ludwig van Beethoven? Anyone who doesn't have a Twitter account? This is what you get when your university graduates don't know that a dozen is not ten!
Don't forget about the current Survivor season where Jelinski insisted - insisted! - that everyone knows that "several hours" meant "seven hours".
But I have had a slight change of heart about the Twins' Elizabeth Taylor remark when it occurred to me, as a comparable example, that although I have heard of Taylor Swift, I could not name you a single Taylor Swift song. (Billy Joel lyrics are a different story entirely....)

Considering what was said about Rasika's dish, I was also surprised she wasn't on top, but I thought it might've been because she had immunity.
Her immunity in this challenge protects her if she's at the bottom, but it doesn't prevent her from winning again.

They should have brought Production in to clean that spill during the prep time. That was a safety issue, full stop. One chef almost fell, a second one did fall. There's no excuse for that.

S36.E07: Walk and Chew Gum Baby
in The Amazing Race
90 minutes of mostly watching teams drive around lost is not as entertaining as it has been in the past.
